We went here the day of the Saint Patrick's Day road race since we arrived early for the race. The place was crowded but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. The waitress was excellent and made a special hot chocolate for the kids. We ordered pancakes and breakfast sandwiches, and the food was very good. Would go here again. read more

Absolute gong show on Sunday. 45 minute wait (even though there was open tables) and another 45 for food. Appeared to be no manager helping out. Weren't enough servers and kitchen was slow. Our server was in a crappy mood and didn't offer to refill our coffee. When we politely asked about the delay and if she could check with the kitchen, we were told "no". There was a wait, which is fine due to the holiday. However it was about 10-20 minutes longer than what we were told. People who came 20 minutes after us were seated before us and when we were finally seated the entire table was sticky. Food was great like usual but they brought out toast for one person then food for one person at least 5 minutes before the rest which is quite rude to eat before someone else has their food so by the time the complete meal was on the table the first bits were cold. read more

The Hop makes me and my family happy. Michelle was nice enough to make our favorite ice water with honey and lemon, alongside the yummiest peanut butter chocolate frappe we've ever had!! Their egg white omelette is unmatched, better than a regular omelette! My eggs were cooked perfectly, seasoned well with home fries to die for! I live in Florida now and have tried for 5 years to find a breakfast place that makes home fries like The Hop. Our banana pancake was exceptional and the grilled everything bagel makes me smile just thinking about it!! Service was fabulous and the ambience is super inviting. Absolutely terrible experience! If I could give less than 1 star I would! Just had to walk out of my daughters birthday breakfast. At almost noon time the restaurant was not busy, no greeting by the staff, sat at a table for almost 15 minutes while we watched tables sat after us being greeted and served. When we asked for our server, one of the staff alerted our server (who appeared to be a manager) and the the two of them chatted for what seemed like and eternity! I recently visited the Brant Rock Hop and had a great experience, as I always do. The Sweet Baby Ray Charles and chicken quesadilla were as tasty as ever. The staff warned us of some possible delays in our food coming out due to chef training and we appreciated the heads up since you don't always get that from restaurants. Our waitress was incredibly attentive as we waited for our food. Our experience was interrupted by an unruly patron (who wrote a 1 star review with an interesting take below), and yet the staff handled it with grace. Seems as though after waiting 10 minutes to eat her food so she could finish feeding her child, she was unhappy to find her food was no longer piping hot. If you ever find a restaurant that can keep their food hot for 10+ minutes, I'd love to know the name. She was raising her voice towards the staff regarding her issue, then her husband proceeded to announce to the entire restaurant that he and his wife were not happy with their experience, stopping everyone in their tracks and interrupting our meals. The staff took her meal off the bill and was doing anything they could to comply to her wants so she'd stop causing chaos. Not phased by her false claims, I've never seen a group of strangers unite as fast as all us patrons did, as we all laughed at their embarrassing actions then cheered once they left. Shaken up, the staff didn't miss a beat. Funny to see a bunch of 5 star reviews for a restaurant and then a comical review like hers. Don't question the experience and food you'll get at the Hop, it's a must visit! read more

Wanted to share my experience today... My husband and I went to brant rock hop in Marshfield today with our 3 small children (2 months, 2 years, and 4 years). We got there at 11am and was told we had to wait 15 minutes. Its a Sunday morning so we weren't surprised by that, but it was not busy. There is nowhere to wait so my toddlers just ran around outside. After 20 minutes we got a table. We ordered and waited a while. The waitress came over and let us know there were 2 cooks in training and it was taking longer than usual. We waited an hour and we finally got our food. We ordered 2 Mickey Mouse pancakes for our kids, my husband got the Southern Hospitality. I ordered a Chipotle Chicken Panini with onion rings and boom boom sauce. We have all gotten these exact things previously. Today Mickey was looking pretty pathetic but whatever, my kids don't care. My panini was really just a chicken sandwich that was soggy and falling apart, didn't taste like chipotle and instead tasted like maple syrup. My onion rings were cold and I didn't get any boom boom sauce. So I didn't eat it and let the waitress know, sorry I didn't like this and here's why. No biggie if you could just give us the bill. She came back to our table and let me know that the owner, Nick, said the sandwich was made right and he wasn't taking it off the bill. I was shocked and told her I wasn't paying for something I didn't eat. She said he wrapped it up and I could take it home and reheat it. WHAT?! No thanks, I didn't like it. She told me she would have Nick come out and talk to me. I waited for 15 more minutes and Nick never came out. Mind you I have not received any bill at this point, original or revised. I also don't have the sandwich anymore as they took it back. My toddlers are restless and crying. We all walk to the door where the register is and I let the waitress know that we were ready to pay for what we ate or we will need to leave. It's now been almost 2 hours from start to finish. Nick comes out and is immediately aggressive and says "WHATS THE PROBLEM?!" He definitely already knew the problem, but I let him know I didn't like my sandwich, I sent it back, and I wouldn't be paying for something I didn't physically have and I didn't eat. He started yelling at me that it was made right and he's not taking it off just because I didn't like it. UM WHAT? If a customer isn't happy with their meal that's exactly what you do.... I had 2 bites and it was gross. I explained to him what I didn't like. They took the sandwich back. I said I would like to pay for what we ate or we'd be leaving and paying nothing, and he said "go ahead and leave, I'll take down your plate and call the cops." I said I've been here forever, with my kids, and haven't even received a bill TO pay. I need to get my kids home. He keeps yelling "AND WHAT? AND WHAT?" Dismissing all the issues like any of this is appropriate. He storms off out back and leaves us waiting again, comes back out and yells at my husband saying "Your married to this?! Good luck" then storms out back again. Meanwhile my husband is holding my crying 2 year old and we are just trying to pay and leave. The waitress finally ended up giving me a bill with the sandwich off. All this over a $10 sandwich. I have never experienced ANYTHING like this and cannot believe a business owner would behave this way. I'm honestly shocked and cannot believe this place is operating like this. Just wanted to let everyone know, if you an issue with your food you'll still be expected to pay for it or be attacked if you send it back. I do want to mention that the waitresses are always so nice and pleasant and did absolutely nothing wrong. It must be difficult to work for someone like this and be stuck in the middle. Just the fact that he wouldn't initially come out and speak with a customer as management should, shows he isn't supporting his staff. Very disappointed in this experience read more

They wouldnt take two people at 11:30 in the morning because they were "closing early" at 12. The doors were locked to get in and no sign was left out to say they were closing early. I was excited to come here with my family. The hostess started off by acting put off when I asked for a table instead of a booth. My daughter is in a wheelchair and cannot sit at a booth because her knees would scrape under the table. Service was less than sub par. The waitress did side work the whole time, ( rolling silverware etc.). I had to go to the counter for coffee refills, water, to go boxes. We arrived there around 12:20. Online it said it closed at two. I told the waitress how negative our experience was. I do not remember an apology. I do remember the waitress telling us, Well we closed at one. LOVE to come here every weekend. Thankfully it's open year round. My husband, 1y/o and I show up extra early to beat the line. They have a great menu and even better waitstaff - very family oriented. The interior is retro and I love the names of theirbreakfast classics (the Audrey Hepburn, the Ed Sullivan). I recommend the cinnamon roll pancakes, breakfast burrito and breakfast tacos. Came here with my 90 year old mother. The entire breakfast bar was open (all seats vacant) and there were 6 open tables. There was just the 2 of us. Told us 25 minute wait.........and we waited. Plenty of staff. Not sure what is going on here. But seat us, pour us a coffee and tell us the food may be awhile. But to let us stand, looking at all those empty seats. This place is very new and when we go on Sunday mornings, it's always busy. There's plenty of tables and they have a breakfast bar with stools but if you hit it at the wrong time, you might have to wait to sit down. They have an extensive breakfast menu but I go for the typical bacon and eggs or pancakes. They serve lunch as well which I hear is good but we have not tried it yet but we look forward to it. I am visiting the area and went in for breakfast early in the morning on this rainy day. I ordered the Marilyn Monroe. Eggs bacon and sausage were perfectly cooked, including the fact the sausage links were not greasy and the bacon was perfectly crisp. The accompanying pancakes were some of the best I have ever had in my life. They were fluffy with a scrumptious taste! Generous butter and syrup made them to die for! As soon as you walk in you can feel a nice 50s diner. It is filled with 50s decor, and the smell of amazing breakfast foods. They even have a jukebox! Once you get seated in a booth or at a table, they will take your order quickly. The food might take 20-30 minutes, but it is worth it. Oh my god you guys...wow. wow. I'm speechless. Truly this chicken pesto panini took the last breaths I had away. The combination of the buttery bread, the warm tenderly cooked chicken and perfectly red cooked tomatoes. I love this diner so much I really do love it. I travel around 45 minutes every time to come to this diner with my buddies because of the simple essence. The workers are so kind and curdious. My top choice for breakfast in the area. very fair pricing along with some of the best greasy breakfasts I've ever had. They have incredible cinnamon bun pancakes and some of the best corn beef hash. Service is always lovely but does tend to get busy (because it's so good). read more

This place is fantastic! My friends and I went this morning for breakfast and we loved everything we ordered. It was clean and tables were spaced out to abide by Covid regulations. Our server Laura was so friendly and sweet. We ordered the Cinnabon Pancakes to share.. so good. Sweet, but not too sweet, light and fluffy with a cinnamon sugary swirl throughout. I highly recommend! The Steak Bomlette was also delicious. Steak and veggies were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the Sweet Baby Ray Charles and it was so unique! The sweet tanginess of the BBQ chicken with the crunchy, salty/sweet cornbread with perfect poached eggs on top.. how can you beat that? I also ordered a strawberry milkshake, it was thick and tasted like fresh strawberries. I would go back just for the shakes. I LOVED this place and honestly can't understand why it only has 3.5 stars. I recommend giving it a chance, you will not regret it! read more

We are staying at the beach house all the way into October because of Covid. We tried the Hop this morning for breakfast. The food was amazing. This was on par with the very high end breakfast spot we went to in Lenox a few weeks ago. I had the poached eggs with spinach and feta. I asked that it be served with pumpernickel toast. It was delicious topped with a bit of microgreens.. micro greens in Brant Rock..who knew!! My husband had the hash and it was also wonderful. The wait staff were super and the place was clean bright and fun. Great spot, can't wait to return. read more

What a nice place to go on vacation. We always hit it when we're in Marshfield. From breakfast to chili dogs, yum!!!

I'm not sure how to feel...there were just so many things that we had issues with. 1.) Why have tables if you're not going to fill them? Maybe I should've asked, but I would've probably sounded pretentious. We came as a group of 4 at 12pm on a Sunday and surprisingly it wasn't all that busy. Even so, the booth seats were all full and there were plenty of tables in the center. For some reason we still had to wait 20 minutes. I'm not sure why they do this. Seriously, why do you do this? We weren't the only ones; several people were also waiting despite the restaurant being half empty. When we were called, the people who waited before us just ended up sitting right in the center where they could have been seated 15 minutes ago. Confused. Despite this, the hostess was still nice and held the door open for us. 2.) Biggest issue: service. We saw our waitress once and twenty minutes later did she finally come back to take our order. I repeat: TWENTY minutes. I'm not even exaggerating; I literally was looking at the clock on the wall. We even tried to flag her down, but she kept ignoring us. Even the other waitresses ignored us. We literally raised our hand above our heads and the waitresses took one look at us and then walked right past. I EVEN MADE EYE CONTACT. I'm a waitress myself--and even if this table isn't mine, I'd at least tell the server in charge that their table wants something. We even saw our waitress pull up a chair to a different table and start chatting. The hell? Other people who were seated after us had their order taken before us. I literally have never been so ignored. I'm really confused as to why. When she finally DID come over, she acted like nothing happened and was perfectly nice. So did we. Looking back I should've made a bigger deal about it. 3.) Food was as OK as American diners will go--way too salty that I left half of it unfinished. I don't blame staff for this, but meh on the food is a -2 stars. And of course it took her awhile to notice we were done (despite our attempts to flag her down.) We were as polite as we could be and still left her an undeserving 20% to prove a point. Either she treated us this way because we were young or because we were Asian or both--I'm not sure, but I honestly felt like I was getting waaayyyy too traditional of an "American experience" if you feel me. Will I ever come back? Nope. Never. Not in a million years. And suffice to stay, neither will anyone like me return either if this waitstaff is going to continue being this inefficient and just plain bad. Surprised seeing as the majority of them are young.
