We get takeout from Burton's often on a weeknight when we don't want to cook. My go-to is the California chicken sandwich with onion strings. The sandwich consists of Cajun style chicken with mashed avocado, cheese and ham on it.. Delicious!! My wife loves the burgers and salads. read more

My fiancé and I ordered Burton's this weekend online at about 8:30. I love that the menu is not overwhelmingly large and has gluten free options . I got the superfood bowl and it was delicious ! I usually swap out quinoa for another grain in all bowls but it tastes great . My one qualm is the lemon vinaigrette they used NEEDS to be packaged and sold it is drinkable ! My fiancé ordered the chicken risotto and he absolutely loved it . The chicken was cooked perfectly and the risotto was packed full of flavor .We also got the bread service and I highly recommend . For 5$ you get a big handful of specialty bread with dipping sauces . It only took about 25/30 minutes for our order to be made and it was on a busy weekend . Great! Not a typical experience, but I'll start with the good. My parents love this place. My son loved his steak tips. My veggie burger was good, but slightly too much sauce. My regular fries were overcooked. Not good. My son offered his truffle fries, but they were horrible. Tasted like rancid olive oil with tons of garlic. Literally the worst fries I've ever had. Others at the table tasted them and agreed they were horrible. My brother and father ordered Oktoberfest beers. They started to drink them and realized they weren't Oktoberfest. They told the waitress she must have accidentally brought them the wrong beers, and she said she brought them something else because they were out of Oktoberfest. Who does that? We stopped here on our way to Maine, and glad we did. It was very busy but not overly loud. Service was quick and accommodating. I had the short rib grilled cheese. There was lots of very tender beef, the jus was great, and the fries very crispy. He tried the chicken piccatta, which was absolutely delicious, lemony without being too sharp. Needing a place to eat close to the highway this jumped out to us. Not having been to a location of this chain before we weren't entirely sure what to expect. Its decor and overall ambiance/vibe was a step above your typical nationwide fast causual chains (we all know the spots I am talking about). As well our server explained they are a from scratch kitchen and also take allergies extremely serious which I believe is important and allows for a lot of customizing! Their menu offers a large variety and they have an extensive cocktail/beer/wine offerings it appeared too. Due to the time and day we stopped it happened to be brunch time and despite already having breakfast I couldn't complain, any time can be brunch for me! Although if you didn't want brunch they have plenty of non-brunch options and you could order off their all day menu too.I had the short rib hash and my wife got their short rib grilled cheese. Both were solid dishes, only negative food wise my hash seemed to not have peppers and only a single egg seemed to be a little stingy considering their photos of the dish show two. Lastly onto the only major negative and reasoning for knocking it down a star. Service was lacking in a couple different ways. Our server was not very attentive which I can give a pass for overall as being short staffed is tough in these times. But the real issue was our table was seemingly forgotten about food wise, as multiple groups near us received food much quicker with more people that showed up later. A staff member noticed this and we could see them investigating it and our order seemed to be on the completed side of orders despite that being false. They did seem to address it quickly as our food arrived shortly after, although no mention of the mistake to us. We were the lucky recipients of a gift card to this restaurant and we decided to celebrate our anniversary here with a dinner. All through July and August they are serving a hot or cold lobster roll that I had to try. It did not disappoint! Large chunks of lobster in a very light, barely-there aioli let the seafood taste shine through. The addition of fresh green onion elevated the dish imo and the side of Parmesan Truffle fries with a simple yet delicious coleslaw really made this a perfect option. Ashley D was our server and she did a great job checking in on us and getting our meals. My husband had a steak which was a bit more medium than medium rare but he still devoured every bit. The night we were there was not too crowded as we went on the early side. It was comfortable; when the weather is very warm some restaurants are unbearably cold but this was perfect. Westford has few if any higher end options. Burtons has a perfect niche. Recently, they refreshed the look of the restaurant outside painting it a lighter color and flowers. It didn't invest in consistent service. We have been unlucky - each time we go, the bar is understaffed. The waitress informed us that "only one bar tender is tonight." From the time we were seated to getting a drink was 24 minutes. Not what we wanted on our relaxing night... It's the inconsistency that is a challenge. Why didn't one of the managers help with bar? Why is staying such a challenge? Restaurant looked well staffed, but server took 10 minutes to get to table. Our daughter idea a server at Tavern in the Square, and they are reprimanded if not done in 2 minutes. This should be a tier above. Started with a chopped salad that we split. This has been a go to dish at Burtons for us. Typically, they slip into two plates, but not tonight. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and seasoned served with fresh asparagus. The mashed potatoes were simple. Overall, well done. The chicken piccata was a variation on the dish with 3 larger size chosen breast pieces (rather than thinner slices) with less of a lemon infusion than traditional. It was tasty. The old fashion was made with cheap marischino cherries and very sweet. Meh. No port wine after a steak dinner! Sacrilege! Asked for a limoncello spritz in lieu of after dinner drink - a terrible soda water and dash of limoncello was delivered. Next thing that we knew, it had been like 20 minutes since we had seen her. She was nowhere in sight. She finally came over and we each ordered our food. Two of us asked for some lemon for the water. Yesterday was the first time I've been to your restaurant. From the time my sister and I went in there until we left everything was perfect. We sat by the windows behind the hostess stand. I love Burton's. I go to them all over the state. This time I went to Westford, which I have been to many times. I got a Caesar with steak tips rare. We also ordered kids steak medium rare. I always check my take out before I go to make sure it's all in there, and to see if things are done correctly. My steak tips were perfect. The kids steak was charred black. Definitely well done. The hostess did offer to have it re made, but I was on a time crunch and couldn't do it. It was just disappointing as it happens often. My Caesar was excellent as always! Vibe: American bar and grille, bar area and tables are seat-your-self, patio seating available Service: On the slow side, we sat in the bar area and got menus right away but took a long time to get waters and everything else. They do have the checks with a QR code to be able to quickly pay from your phone. Drinks: Partner got the Old Fashioned which he liked I got the Derby street coffee which was good but missing elements that are listed on the menu (whipped cream and spiced sugar rim), when I let the waiter know he said 'sorry.' Food: Partner got the California chicken sandwich which was very tasty, fries were basic. I got the Harvest bowl which was not good at all. All the vegetables were flavorless, I think they were all steamed/boiled and had no seasoning. There wasn't enough of the dressing to compensate for the lack of flavor. I dined at Burton's Grill in Westford, MA this evening for a casual dine-in meal. I started with the encrusted shrimp appetizer, which was flavorful and well executed. The presentation was excellent--shrimp standing upright around a cucumber salad with sweet pepper sauce--and very visually appealing. That said, the shrimp arrived warm rather than hot. For my entrée, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon with a Caesar salad and French fries. The Caesar was bright, fresh, and nicely presented, though it could have used a bit more dressing. The filet was just under my requested temperature but still tasted very good. Fries were fine, though again warm rather than hot. The plate was generously filled, which gave the feeling of a hearty, grilled meal. Overall, everything fell just short of perfection. Dessert was the seasonal cheesecake--a white chocolate cheesecake with a candy cane garnish served in a mason jar. Presentation was attractive, but unfortunately the dessert was very dry, unpleasantly hard, and lacking flavor. The peppermint presence was minimal and did not come through as expected. Service was a strong point. I arrived around 4pm on a quiet Monday evening, and my waitress was excellent--attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. The only misstep was that the entrée was fired a bit too early. I also appreciated that the first question asked at the table was about dietary restrictions, which is an excellent practice. The atmosphere was clean, calm, and pleasant, with music at an appropriate level and no crowding. I have spent many years in the food industry and tend to look for perfection, especially when spending over $100 on a meal. While there were many positives here--particularly service and presentation--several small execution issues kept the experience from being outstanding. I have been here a few times, and for the most part, the food and service have been good, but on my most recent visit; it was as if the daily instructions were lost, it seemed as if my food prep took a very long time; & when it arrived it was cold,especially the mashed potatoes. To start, the bartender knows me; I ordered my usual sparkling water with extra ice no fruit. I was given regular water which is unhealthy in this area. We generally enjoy Burton's, but tonight's experience is the worst I have had at a restaurant in quite some time. We had a reservation and arrived on time, but had to wait and another party that arrived with a reservation time 15 minutes after ours, was seated first. Second, the table next to us was seated after us and had gotten their drinks and ordered dinner and our server was nowhere to be seen. Third, when we did finally order we asked for bread service and never got it. Fourth, one of our meals came with a sauce we didn't realize (this one was our fault) so we had to ask for a new order. When the new order came they had rushed cooking it so it was rare instead of medium. They did offer to cook it more but by the time the waiter came to see how everything was the rest of the party was mostly finished. No plans to go back any time soon. read more

We don't live in the area but visit family there. We stopped at Burton's after a two year hiatus and were surprised that our waitress Heather remembered us. As in the past, she was friendly, attentive, and exceptional. The food was excellent and the service even better. We had lobster rolls which was one of the specials, and thoroughly enjoyed them as well as truffle fires, cole slaw, and sautéed spinach. Our cocktails were perfect and delicious. The ambiance was casual and had a friendly vibe. Heather's demeanor and prompt service contributed greatly to our enjoyment. She is one of the best servers I have encountered anywhere. Went to Burtons today for dinner. Checked in at the front of a pretty dead restaurant and got seated in the back room. The courteous host seated me at the only dirty table in the back section. Okay no problem proceeded to wait 10 minutes with out anyone acknowledging me. Again the restaurant was pretty empty . Poor service will not return. read more

The host didn't ask if we had a preference for seating so we ended up changing where he 1st seated us to what appeared to be a more quiet corner in the restaurant. But it wasn't quiet at all, actually it was quiet noisy with a couple of parties next to us. But really the table wasn't set so we ended up moving tables and chairs. The ambiance and the service are good; no complaints there, it's nice. Being honest, I was NOT impressed with my steak. I ordered a medium rare Ribeye and was served a well done NY Strip. If you know steaks you know it's pretty easy to see/taste the difference. I don't mind a Strip, and it would've been fine, but because it was so burnt I was pretty bummed. I wasn't going to say anything, but they asked a couple times, I brought it up. They were nice, tried to make it right. They offered a free glass of wine or a dessert, but I kept saying "no thanks", trying to just let it go and move on. They seemed to insist, so I relented and took the dessert back to my hotel. Back at my room (after eating the dessert), 20-30 mins later I got violently ill; it was a rough night. What caused it, am not sure. But either way, I won't go back. read more

Haven't been in a while but the steak salad was always my favorite. There were very few greens and mostly yellow core pieces. Do you know what happens when you dress a salad that is wet? You get a thin, watery mess. The 3 pieces of steak I added were good but had no outside "crust." I ate about a third of the wet, slimy mess.
