In addition, my partner had the chicken sandwich which wasn't great. I haven't been to the 99 restaurant in maybe 10 years. Definitely a lot more pricey than I remember it but of course that was 10 years ago ha ha. Also had the classic Gold fever wings. These are always absolutely off the hook. I am very happy with our visit to this 99. Sitting in a ridiculous level of traffic for 4pm on a Thursday, we hopped off the highway to wait it out. (We are familiar with 4pm traffic. This is excessive to the extreme.) 99 is about 2 miles off the highway. The curb appeal actually made we wonder if it was open until we saw cars in the lot. Don't let the underwhelming exterior deter you. We would have sat at the bar but it was full! So we took a high top. A waitress came over with a bowl of popcorn after several minutes for a drink order and we were ready to order. Waters first, then adult beverages. My French Martini was just right. A Hazy IPA on tap fit my dining companions wishes. The spicy chicken sandwich comes with fries unless you'd like a substitute side. 99 fries are fresh potato, fluffy inside, seasoned w/pepper & salt. The chicken is deep fried crispy with a spicy sauce drizzled over the top. A tasty, filling meal. The fresh Ceaser salad is served in a wide, shallow bowl and very nicely dressed. Not too much or too little and slightly spicey. My addition of beef tips came on the side. I actually liked this. No wilted lettuce under hot meat and a solid plate to cut the meat on. They were cooked to order and the marinade is tasty. I found myself making yummy noises with my first bites of both the salad and the steak tips. :D I enjoyed this meal. Our waitress was very nice. She did her job well and kept an eye on us. She brought the drinks and a runner brought the food. A host greeted us at the door as we entered ready to seat us. He gave us the menus as we wanted to sit in the bar area and we could sit where we wanted in that section. There are handicapped parking spots on the side of the building closest to the door. Still, it is a bit of a walk to the door. Besides the small parking area on the side of the building, more parking is available in back. The doors do not have an automatic wheelchair accessible feature and lead into a small vestibule before a second set of doors into the restaurant. Restrooms are men or ladies and a third for handicapped/family/all. Ladies was older, but clean and well stocked. Faucets and paper towel dispenser are automatic. Although this 99 may have some wear and tear both inside and out they definitely have it together. Quick, friendly service. Fresh, well prepared food. Clean. Landed here with a hungry bunch after an all day volley ball tournament. Really impressed with the level of service on a Saturday night at prime time. Tess, our server, was attentive and pleasant the entire time. The food came out as ordered. The Vermont cheddar burger was a tad more rare than the medium ordered but tasty. The golden boneless wings were good as was the seafood chowder. Other friends enjoyed an order of fish tacos that looked great and the kids enjoyed the chicken fingers. Even though we were seated in the bar area, the noise level was manageable and totally appropriate for our family vibe. First is soup which I got there seafood chowder, second was lobster roll u can have it buttered or not of course I choice buttered came out delicious and last their petite treats which they have 3 options but only one available the chocolate silk but never got mine. We like the 99 restaurants and when we are in Massachusetts usually try to visit. The staff was generally friendly and helpful although the first time we visited we had to sit in the seat yourself high top area while we saw many empty tables. They may have been having challenges clearing and cleaning. The restaurant did not show the signs of being well managed based on the above and general debris being observed. The food however was as expected, good food and good prices. I recommend the good fever wings and a crock of seafood chowder as being reliable choices at any 99 read more

All three of us were really satisfied by our meals. We knew that the servings would be generous, so we didn't bother with an appetizer. Our server was very personable; she took the order promptly, got it all right; and checked back with us after serving it. Unfortunately she, like many servers, "checked back" so soon that that we hadn't had a chance to taste our food yet. (This is one of my personal pet peeves.). She did check back again later and brought us drink refills. We sat in a bar booth, which is actually my favorite; and it was quite comfortable. But the entire place was a little tired looking; it could use a good cleaning, especially the flooring. This was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. I ordered take out. I realized my steak was both rare and well done when I ordered it medium. I called back to get a replacement or a refund. The manager refused to refund me and told me if they remake it they couldn't promise that it will come out correct. She said the way the steak was prepare the outside pieces would be more cooked than the middle. I explained that my steak was on one side medium rare and on the other side was well. Still no refund or replacement. I called hours later spoke to a different manager who said the same. We can promise it won't come out the same. Finally he agreed to give me another one. One thing about the 99 restaurant, it is consistent and when you are hungry and don't know the area too well, this place still hits the spot. The location is down the street from busy Kimball Farm and when the line for their snack bar was out of control, we decided to just get food here. It was after 8pm and it was pretty busy but we were seated right away and attended to by the server quickly. The menu delivered some tasty appetizers and the entrees were decent, nothing fancy but hit the spot because we were all starving. Plus you can't beat $55 for 4 of us plus alcohol on top of it. Came here for lunch with a group from work. Menu is mostly filled with typical pub fare, everyone else in our party ordered burgers, i ordered the cedar plank salmon. Most of the burgers were overcooked but they the group said they tasted pretty good none-the-less. My plate came out and looked exceptionally refined as compared to my co-workers. Salmon came out on a piece of cedar wood with asparagus on the side next to some white rice. The presentation was actually pretty nice. Salmon and asparagus was overcooked as the burgers but seasoned decently. So overall the food was OK, nothing to write home about or that would result in me making a trip deliberately to go here. The service on the other hand was horrible, i know most service in the boston area sucks, but this lady was exceptionally bad. She wasn't overly friendly and seemed upset to take a table of 8. Told her upfront we needed checks split, she forgot, then got annoyed at us. We offered to just have her split it evenly between everyone since everyone's meals were within 30 cents, she said that was more of a hassle than voiding the entire transaction and starting over... odd Also once she started taking payment she took them 2 at a time to not get "confused" even tho everyone had wrapped their receipts around the card or the cash... again no clue why this should be so confusing. Needless to say it took us about 15-20 minutes to get our bill paid. Overall, food is decent, you could drive down to j rockets and get a better burger and almost any place and get better service. I won't return unless nothing else is open. I've returned to this restaurant a handful of times since my poor first visit, and have had better experiences, especially with take-out. They have a great take-out service, where you can order your food over the phone, and stay in your car when you arrive (they have designated spots), and the staff will bring your food out to you. This is really handy if you have kids. I've also eaten at the restaurant for lunch and while service seemed a little slow, food was fine and there was no other hiccups. read more
