(From my 8yr old reviewer) Bus stop diner is a good place especially for a road trip and my mom had a slice of black forest cake and it was delicious.black forest cake is my mom'lunch.mes favorite cake and she loved this cake because it had just the right amount of the chary but usually it has too much or too little chary. I had chicken nuggets that l shared them with my brother and he loved them and I did too.

My father and I got together to get breakfast and went to this convenient location. When I arrived I parked in the plaza parking lot. I walked in and was greeted. It is a local, hometown diner. We sat and Stephanie was our server and she was nice. I wanted the apple pancakes and my dad got one of the meal combos. When the apple pancakes came out, it was not what I expected. The apples and walnuts were cooked into the pancakes as opposed to it being on top like I am used to at other locations. I didn't want to send it back but didn't want to force myself either. I went with the short stack instead and that was ok. My dad said his pancakes and bacon was ok as well. The bill was super affordable and we had an ok experience.

I've never written a review like this before but I just have to. I paid $44 dollars for this order and I'm just disappointed. Maybe this place is known for something else but I ordered the following: Chicken fingers and fries - it was okay , the bbq sauce was good... honey mustard was a little watery though Shrimp basket came with fries- oh my god the shrimp was so bland it tasted like nothing and they were stuck together when they were fried...so that's not very enjoyable.. it also came with Soup or salad I chose soup- the soup was so bland it tasted like those bland canned soups. I saw 1 chunk/piece of chicken and the noodle type was the one that looks like a big rice grain... it was rally lacking any flavor Also came with a desert and I chose bread pudding - just looks like 3 slices of whitebread moistened with something idk..horrible.. Crab cake - possibly the worse I've ever had in my life. I don't know what I was expecting but it was just imitation crab fried in some batter also so so bland no flavor at all. I just don't understand how the only thing that had salt was the French fries..and I'm in shock that I paid 44 dollars for this... disappointed

I stopped into this plaza to charge my EV (they have a dual 350 kwh charger there) and I hadn't eaten yet so I lo9ked up and saw the Bus Stop diner. The food was amazing! I've eaten at many diners and this one is very delicious. Its fast and they are so friendly! I thanked the cooks after I tasted my food. Bravo, Bus Stop Diner!

The Bus Stop has been a Carteret institution for as long as I can remember, many decades, at least. It's where, growing up in town, you had your first real diner experience. This is a big deal if you live in Jersey. lol. It's undergone a makeover, as it almost burned down quite a few years back, so the decor is newer. I loved the old style, green carpet with dark wood panelling, big vinyl bench seats & tables, & dark window shades. Real 70's stuff. lol. But, the new style is nice as well. It's more classic diner, with the chrome-rimmed tables, primary color schemes, and tile floors. Anyway, onto the food...Over the years, I've had just about everything on the menu, and with few complaints, I've always enjoyed my meals. The portions are plenty, the food is freshly cooked, and the desserts are big enough, that you'll probably take it home. You get your money's worth, and in a working-class town like Carteret, that's important. I've since moved out of town, and this last visit to the Bus Stop was a nostalgic break on the way to somewhere else. It's been at least 7 years, and in that time, there has been no loss of food or service quality. The waitstaff is always friendly, and most times, you probably know the person, so there's the ol' catch-up, and town gossip. The owner is friendly & professional, and any complaint, if you have one, is handled promptly, & with courtesy. I've seen him handle a few jerks over the years, and he keeps his cool. He's a genuine guy just looking to run a good business. And, that's what he's doing. If you're in Carteret, and looking for a good meal with decent prices, and maybe a little something to take home, The Bus Stop Diner should be your destination. However, if you're looking to get silly, go to the actual bus stop across the street, and get on the 116 out of town. This is still Carteret. It's not where you want to mess up.

Breakfast .... it was OK. Not my favorite home style breakfast. I wasn't looking for a gourmet breakfast. Just wanted basic breakfast food. My Italian omelette was ok. Nothing earth shattering. Home fries were cooked well done as requested but were dry and lacked flavor. Hubby ordered is extra soft eggs which were perfect. He like home fries Sausage was great diner quality. Pancakes were average quality. Rye bread was tasty. Coffee was ok. Service and atmosphere was great. Would try again. Over easy eggs will be my next try.

What really stood out to me was the presentation. The plating is decorative and gives upscale, fine dining vibes, which makes the whole brunch feel elevated rather than just casual. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. It has a cute café-style brunch vibe with an airy, light, and inviting decor. It feels relaxed but still aesthetically put together. The service was also excellent--our server was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. I also liked that they offer mocktails and allow BYOB for alcohol, which gives you flexibility depending on your preference. Now, just to be real--this place is popular, so expect a wait. It can get crowded and a bit tight inside, especially during peak brunch hours. Parking is also something to plan for since there's limited space (the lot only fits about four cars), so you'll likely need to find street parking. Overall, I definitely recommend Blossom Brunch. The food, vibe, and service are all on point. Honestly, they're doing so well that I hope they expand soon--it's clearly a spot that's in demand and could benefit from more space.

The pancakes were definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered the sampler sizes of the Tres Leches, Fruity Pebbles, and Banana Pudding pancakes. Out of the three, the Fruity Pebbles pancakes were by far the best, flavorful, fun, and wellbalanced. The Tres Leches pancakes, while good in concept, were overwhelmingly sweet. The Banana Pudding pancakes, however, were enjoyable and had a nice balance of flavor. For savory dishes, the Crab Cake Benedict was excellent and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the Chicken & Waffles Benedict did not meet expectations. The chicken lacked seasoning and crispiness, making the dish taste bland overall. I was not a fan of that particular entrée. On the other hand, the regular Chicken & Waffles dish was much better and came with three wings coated in a tasty hot honey sauce. The service and hospitality, however, left a lot to be desired. Although our waiter was kind , the timing of food was lacking. Also they did forget to give us utensils and we had to ask when one of the dishes arrived (because they didn't all arrive at the same time ) . Our table of four initially received only three drinks, leaving one person waiting an additional five minutes for theirs. The food was brought out one dish at a time rather than together, which disrupted the dining experience. The last dish to arrive, the Chicken & Waffles and Eggs Benedict ,came out so late that the rest of the table had already nearly finished eating. Overall, while some of the food items stood out positively, the lack of coordination and attentiveness in service negatively impacted the overall experience.

I didn't see much space for huge parties but be mindful and make the reservation in advance. Went for an early dinner at around 6:00ish and was seated immediately. Service was on point. Now for the food. The seasoning was immaculate. We did try the griot app (not pictured) and it was very flavorful. The Rasta pasta dish was seasoned appropriately and provided a comfortable heat. If you are used to typical heat of pikliz then you may find the spice level was at a mild level which paired nicely with the passion 75. The drink tasted more like a spin on a mimosa but I was wish the passionfruit was from the fruit to bring in the tartness - still good. The cheesecake was pretty standard. The glaze on top balanced out the creaminess well.

We had the short rib empanadas, which were crispy and fully of meat. They were definitely the highlight of the night! The rasta pasta was good, but it came out warm and with few shrimp. The flavors were still excellent, however. The carrot cake for dessert was moist and not too sweet, which I prefer! The space was also super clean and well maintained. What really disappointed me was the service. We had a reservation, but had to wait to be seated even with plenty of open tables. That's normally not a big deal for us, but we had an event to get to tonight, so we were in more of a rush. Someone came to us to ask what water we wanted after 10 minutes of being sat, after which the hostess came back over to us to apologize that our server hasn't come over yet and asked if we would like water. Much more time passes and someone (still not our server) comes to ask us if everything is alright. We explain that no one has taken our order, which she apologized for and took our order for us. She then had to come back over because she forgot to include what protein we picked for our pasta. Finally, our server came over to us. We explained that we had already ordered. More hiccups continued throughout the night, including a long wait for the check, never being brought a dessert menu after asking, etc. I'm not one to complain about service, I just think they could be more efficient. At the time we arrived, there were only a few other tables seated in our area. It wasn't super busy, and there were a lot of people working. We overheard staff whispering about who was supposed to be taking care of us, and it still took time for someone to come over and help us. I think the staff knew we overheard or were disappointed in the service, because our dessert was free, and we received a bread basket as well. I'd love to give them another chance, just maybe not if I have plans after.

The space clearly isn't big enough for what they're trying to do, and you can tell the kitchen staff is struggling in a makeshift setup. Everyone working there was very sweet and seemed to have good intentions, but it also felt like they're not being set up for success. We waited almost 15 minutes just to order and not because there was a long line. The staff just seemed completely overwhelmed and backed up. We ordered tiramisu and cookie butter lattes, and it took another 15 minutes to get them. When they finally came, both drinks tasted like milk and sugar. I genuinely think they forgot to add espresso. Overall, it felt like a huge waste of time, money, and gas.

From what I've heard, it usually gets packed during peak sports seasons--but we happened to hit a lull (post-football, pre-baseball, and no major games on), so we basically had the place to ourselves. That actually worked in our favor--the quieter atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy conversation without the usual sports bar chaos. Drinks were a highlight. I went with the sangria, which was refreshing and well-balanced. Instead of ordering full entrees, we decided to share a bunch of appetizers. Everything that came out looked great, and everyone in the group seemed really happy with the flavors. As someone with a gluten allergy, though, I was pretty limited in what I could order. The ribs ended up being one of my only real options--but thankfully, they were tender, flavorful, and definitely the standout for me. Still, I do wish there were more gluten-free choices, especially since we were there to celebrate and share food. One thing that stood out (in a not-so-great way) was that we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We didn't even get the chance to order a birthday dessert, which was disappointing given the occasion, but seeing since it was only our group there I'm sure they were ready to close and go home. Parking was easy on a Sunday night, and they do have a lot, but make sure to read the signs carefully since some spots are reserved for the theater next door.
