The Kiew Warn Gai (Green Curry Chicken) is my order every time, but my group always shared the plates with the table. Busara hands down has the best Thai Ice Tea I've ever tasted-it is just sweet enough. Other favorite include their pad thai, shrimp rolls, garlic prawns, and swimming rama. Seems to have gone downhill. Ordered Pad Thai, Swimming Rama, and fresh rolls. Swimming Rama came with peanut sauce mixed in and the portion was very light. Fresh rolls were fine, but only two. Pad Thai was fine, but charged for rice. This in comparison to On Rice. Swimming Rama came with peanut sauce on the side, three fresh rolls, pad Thai with rice. Roughly the same price. I'll go to On Rice in Bellingham exclusively now. read more

Came in for an early dinner and thankfully it was not that busy so the wait to be seated was pretty quick. We were given menus and had decided to order the calamari as an appetizer and we got the pad king, their version of drunken noodles and a marinated chicken in light garlic sauce and veggies with a 2 side order of sticky rice. We also ordered 3 soft drinks. I'll start off by saying we had to flag down someone to take our order after waiting 20 mins to be acknowledged after being seated, no silverware, no water even though it was just us and another couple in the restaurant a few tables away. When we got our food the calamari was drenched in oil and outer layer was soggy, the calamari itself was rubbery and hard to chew. Our entree all pretty much tasted bland and the chicken was dry and tough to get down without water, the beef was rubbery and we were not even able to chew it enough to get it down. The sticky rice was more of a mushy rich and not worth $10. We also did not get our drinks until half way of us eating our meals and having to raise our hands until someone came by, my husband even walked his cup up to the service desk to ask for refills. We had to ask for our check 3 x before someone actually came along to hand it to us. We were very disappointed in the service and food for the price they charge, but figured to give this place a chance since we were in the area. When we had left the establishment I had a knock on our car window from the woman asking where is the tip? We had left cash on the table for a tip which now I am regretting because the service was not worth us even leaving a tip and to be run down and harassed in the privacy of our vehicle was just a shock to us. I love the ambience at Busara. There are a lot of tables so usually it isn't a long wait to be seated. The service has always been courteous and helpful. I like their pad thai the best of the entrees that I have ordered. I appreciate the complimentary salad with peanut sauce. I have ordered the fresh rolls twice and both times I forgot that they come with a sweet and sour-type sauce instead of a peanut sauce. I'm not a fan of that sauce and I would recommend swapping it for the peanut sauce, if it's an option. The last time I was in I ordered the drunken noodle special and I was disappointed. It wasn't terrible, it's just that I have had better elsewhere. The curries are decent, especially the red curry. It's hard to find a good thai restaurant here in Bellingham. This place is located across from a standalone Starbucks in the same shopping complex as REI. When I came here on a Saturday evening, it was quite crowded. However, I was seated quickly as I was eating alone (I know, sad). The decor of this place is pretty nice and you can tell the owners really tried to make it feel like a Thai place. There are also floor seating where you eat kneeling on a mat. I ordered a grilled steak salad and a Busara seafood entry. The server was very friendly and the food came out about 13 minutes later. The salad was fresh and the seasoning perfect. I found the size to be generous too. As for the seafood, it was only $13 for loads of seafood cooked over a hotplate and sizzling! It was amazing. This place was recommended by a friend as the best Thai food, so placed a to-go order to try it out. I ordered the Chicken Phad Thai and an order of pot stickers. The phad thai was good, large portion, and always like to ask for a wedge of lime. I love the crushed peanuts and onions in it. The pot stickers were okay; they were steamed instead of fried or pan-friend, so was different than what I was expecting. The service was very kind and friendly, and will go to back to try out a few other dishes. I love Thai food and think this might be the go to place for it! read more

Beware if you're vegetarian. I've never thought their food was particularly good anyway, but I have been when friends want to go. Some of the staff seem to not know if particular items are vegetarian, and will tell you something is when they are not sure. On one occasion, I was served a soup that I'm fairly certain was made with chicken broth, after specifically asking if it was vegetarian. Yuck. read more

Loved this place! My husband and I ate lunch here while waiting for our phones from T Mobile. Taylor the waitress was so kind and made great suggestions. We ordered the black bean/garlic veggie and tofu dish and the shrimp and garlic dish. Both were amazing! That black bean sauce is so good I want to eat it on everything. Went on a date here, there was only two other groups in the restaurant besides ourselves. It took awhile to get water and order but eventually we did. The restaurant started getting more busy, more and more bowls of pad Thai were rolling out of the kitchen, except ours. After an hour and 10 minutes of waiting for our food, a group who just sat down ten minutes ago received there food and we decided to up and leave. Took some take-out from Supon's one night since it's close to my house. I ordered the Pad Thai and the red curry, which came with rice (all about $20). Both were delicious and the portions are quite large, I ate it over a few days. Their menu took me by surprise a bit since they don't have the classic Thai dishes like most restaurants. However, their dishes were just as yummy as the other Thai food joints in Bellingham. Though, I think I would stick to only take-out for this place as it's a bit expensive but the atmosphere inside did seem nice! read more

For a place like Bellingham you'd be surprised to hear that there are quite a few Thai restaurants in the city. My all-time favorite has to be Busara. I've been coming here for 5 years now, when I first moved to Bellingham as a freshmen in college. Honestly the only Thai place I'll eat at in Bellingham. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. The restaurant offers regular table seating but also "well-style" seating (not sure what this is actually called but we will go with that.) For larger parties you can opt to sit in this "well" with cushions and it's quite nice and a different experience. Like many Thai restaurants, you can customize the spice level that you want with dishes and that is quite nice for those who either LOVE spice or can't bare it. I typically go with a noodle dish or a curry because that never disappoints. This place gets my stamp of approval! read more

After a trip to Vegas, we stopped to see our Daughter at Western. Always on the hunt for a restaurant offering good vegetarian options, thai is always one kind of food we seek out. Although the veggie options were not extensive on the menu, we had quit a few options. The spring rolls, spicy garden veggies and vegetarian pad thai were really tasty. We were happy that both brown rice and white rice options were available. I thought the atmosphere and interior design was above average and the wait staff very pleasant. Came out of town to visit some family and decided to eat here. Food surpassed my expectations for the restaurant being located in a smaller town. Flavors are spot on and the portions are satisfying. I loved how they serve all customers a small, crisp salad with peanut dressing as an amuse bouche. Prices were more than fair. Can't wait to eat here when I am back in town. read more

Soooooo, it took 15 minutes for somebody to take our order. And another 25 minutes to get our food. It was awesome. I got a fly in my salad. I also I got a tiny little bug in my water. Woot woot! Extra protein. But seriously... the server didn't seem surprised when I mentioned it. What does that tell you? Other than the fly, the food was okay. But the service was... well, I'm not even sure they have any servers. I mean, we only had one person we flagged down to take our order and one person who brought it out. But does that really count? Super convenient location, right off I-5 freeway and adjacent to the REI.... whats better than new outdoor gear and Thai food? We thought they went pretty well together. The hostess and server staff are really helpful and nice to talk with. We ordered the Panang Curry and the Pad See Ew with Beef, both were very good. On the order of constructive feedback, the rice bowls (pictured) are quite tiny and do not supply enough rice for the entree. If you would like more rice, that will cost ya an extra $1. I've been checking out the Thai places in the area and this one was on my short list of places to try. First impressions- clean, tidy, unpretentious, tastefully decorated. They have 3 tables on a raised platform where you sit on the floor (I am way too old for that foolishness. I could never get back up if I sat on the floor, they'd have to bring in the fork lift) and lots of normal tables for the floor sitting challanged. Service was excellent. Pleasant and informative, (I tend to ask lots of questions). Food was just ok. We started with the appetizer plate that had 2 Chicken Satay, 2 spring rolls and 4 crab rangoon. Pretty standard stuff, except the rangoon which was filled with real crab meat instead of surimi (points!). For entrees I had the Cashew Chicken and hubby had the Double Delite. My dish was heavy on the garlic but not so much on the cashews and the chicken was overcooked and dry. Hubby's was supposed to be a shrimp and chicken stirfry with vegetables, he got exactly 2 shrimp, not cool. We may be back to try other menu items because we like to be fair but tonight's experience was underwhelming. read more

This was our first time and will be our last time ordering from this restaurant. We ordered a simple takeout order of Pad Thai and Kee Mao with the appetizer sampler. The pad Thai is advertised on the menu as having "stir-fried pork, bean sprouts, scallions, eggs and garnished with carrots and crushed peanuts." All that was in the container was noodles and a few scant pieces of extremely dry pork. In our appetizer sampler we were supposed to have 2 chicken satay but we only had 1 and there was no plum sauce (also advertised) for the Giew Grob. I called the restaurant immediately as we live 30 mins away so it was not convenient to drive all the way back to the restaurant. I was told the restaurant was too busy to speak with me and they would call me back, no one called back. I called the restaurant and the manager refused to get on the phone with me until I insisted she speak with me rather than to her employee ( I could over hear their conversation over the open phone line) she insisted that I drive back to the restaurant with the food to "prove" that there was a mistake and then went on to say that when it is busy they can run out of the garnishes and "their customers don't care." I was appalled at the poor manners and accusatory tone of the manager especially as I was very patient initially. The way in which this manger spoke to me was completely unacceptable and the only reason I am sharing this experience as I don't normally complain let alone write negative reviews but this was too much! Terrible food. Terrible service. Terrible manager. AVOID. read more
