Robert has been calibrating my various display devices since the 1980's. He's calibrated every kind of set I've owned for four decades. I've had sets from Pioneer, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba and now LG. I was one of his earliest clients and I've recommended him over these many years. I was originally about to purchase a Sony Master Z series 8k 75" set, but he strongly steered me toward an LG OLED - new G2 in 75". What a difference his advice made! Robert is considered by LG (and other companies as well) as being a Master Class Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) calibrator of display devices. He is also now working with Dolby Labs and they highly value his skill-set in their own development. Most people naively think calibrating a TV is merely adjusting the contrast, brightness, color, detail, etc. buttons on the remote LOL! Have I got news for you! That is NOT calibration no matter how good you "think" you are at setting those knobs. Calibration requires extremely expensive equipment that Robert brings to your home. A full calibration can take up to eight (8) hours, but when he's done you are going to be left with your mouth open in awe of what that set of yours is capable of showing! My calibration of the LG-G2 was completed yesterday. He started at 9am and finished just before 6pm. I invited a friend over to watch the long process and he was shocked at what's involved and he now wants the same done for him eventually. Robert loves to explain every single step of WHAT he's doing and WHY he's doing it. Watching him is like watching a micro-surgeon delicately tweak settings you don't have access to as an owner. Robert's professional skill-set does not come cheap, but if you've already spent several thousand on a good set, you would be foolish NOT to spend the extra to truly make it right. What you see on display at Best Buy, Costco or other shops, is just the BEGINNING of what a fully professionally calibrated set can ultimately look like. Robert has calibrated sets for many of the rich and famous Hollywood crowd and they know what the director intended for you to see on your screen. Guided us thru the purchase, install and calibration of our home theater and sound system. Would have never been able to set up such a quality system on my own so totally worth what I paid him to do it for me. I didn't opt for the top of the line high end system either (which I imagine is the majority of his client base), but he was happy to work with me and able to find me the best possible components within my budget. My sound system kicks a$$ too! All the teens want to game at my house now, LOL! His set up and calibration made such a difference. Because of him, I have a much nicer set up than if I just went to the local electronic store and DIY. He even helped us find a long, low mid-century modern furniture piece for the flat screen as I didn't want wall mounted. Highly recommend him. I had Robert come out to my home in Cupertino to calibrate two TV's for me: a brand new Samsung JS9500, and an older Pioneer Kuro (151-FD) that I was moving into my bedroom. There was a slight discount for doing the two in one visit. Robert was easy to get ahold of and schedule, and he come out when he said he would. He did an amazing job with both TV's, the one I've really noticed the difference on is the Samsung, which had been giving me no end of trouble to try and get dialed in to something that looked reasonably good. After Robert's work, it looks abso-friggin-lutely amazing. Colors are vibrant but accurate, skin tone is natural, motion is smooth but not artificial looking. If there's any visual artifacts, it's because it's there in the original material. The Kuro I've not spent as much time with since it was calibrated, but from what little I watched, it looks great too (not the amazing transformation as what I saw on the Samsung, but then I always thought the Pioneer looked pretty good out of the box, with some sane settings applied). Had Robert over to my house last week to whip my Kuro Pro-151FD into shape. This is my first calibration so I was nervous at spending so much money. Cut to the chase: not cheap but competitive with other pro calibrators, so worth it. Robert was patient, thorough, professional, happy to spend his time working and teaching in as much depth as I wanted. I hired Robert to do a ISF calibration of my Panasonic VT-50 TV plasma TV that I bought used (since plasma TV's aren't manufactured anymore and OLED is outside of my budget). He spent a lot of time with me on the phone walking me through the process and why it's priced the way it is. Robert is about as knowledgable and enthusiastic as someone could possibly get about home theater picture quality. There were a couple times where he was almost jumping for joy over how good the picture from my TV looked. And I can't blame him because it looks PHENOMENAL. The black levels now match the edges of the TV frame, the colors are accurate and uniform in intensity, and in general he took a great TV and made it perfect. read more

I had Robert Busch come out on 5/4/2015 to do a calibration on a brand new TV he'd never worked on before with HDR technology. He cut $25 off the price for "letting him learn on my TV". He is super friendly, and he has no problems teaching you every step of the way. Since my TV was brand new and he'd never worked on one like it, he had to make a few calls when he had questions. I didn't think too much of it, but the guys he was calling are impressive names when you find out who they are. He called up Joe kane (the founder of ISF) to ask a question. And when he decided my audio didn't sound right and he asked if I wanted him to tweak some settings, he had a question about the Dolby Atmos speaker settings, so he called up the second in charge in Atmos to ask him a question as well. Since my TV was brand new, it took a little longer than usual. But he made sure that everything was right (including calling people for questions), and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Once he was done and testing out actual source material (blu-rays, cable, games), the excitement he has for this stuff started to show through. Several times he pumped his fist and pointed out how great things were looking. He seemed happier about my TV than I was haha. He was a true pleasure to work with. I couldn't recommend him any more. I would highly recommend this gentleman. He is very knowledgeable and gave me tons of information. The info was free... That doesn't mean waste his time with your questions but he spent a good 30 minutes with me and he let me pick his brain for advice. He knew I had bought a tv elsewhere but he helped me with some questions that went beyond my understanding. Bottom line is the guy is extremely knowledgable and friendly. Very nice knowledgeable guy. A brain when comes to home theater equipment and calibration of tvs. Honestly I don't like the new led tvs. I think lcd and plasma look better but that's my opinion. Hired Robert to calibrate my new Samsung led tv. Picture was terrible out of the box. He came to my home in a professional manner ,very polite and has a great sense of humor. He explained everything to me while I watched him doing his magic. The tv Looks so much better now then before. I will hire him again and will definitely recommend him to others. I recently had Robert over to perform an ISF calibration on my new Samsung SUHD TV and felt he did an exceptional job! Scheduling was very easy and Robert was very accommodating with my schedule to find a time that worked well for us both. He always called back promptly, called the day before to confirm and was very easy and friendly to deal with. He showed up right on time at my house and spent almost 5 hours calibrating my set. Honestly, I felt he went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy, that I understood everything he was doing (I tried to keep up the best I could!), that he answered all my questions, and that my set looked as good as possible. Robert is a really nice guy, very friendly and personable, and a pleasure to deal with. We even discovered we had both worked for the same employer at one point in time! You can really tell that Robert knows his stuff when it comes to the A/V world, and his technical background in general is extremely extensive! There is no question you are getting a true professional and expert when it comes to Robert. I would wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Robert to anyone who is in need of expert A/V advice and services. For the time he put in I felt his fee was extremely reasonable. Extremely pricey (so much so that you are paying for equipment at least 25% over competitors and 30% over what you can buy yourself). Not well organized! Labor costs are equal to hourly rates for a lawyer or CPA. No real tangible plan of what the system would look like. read more

I originally wrote a review for Robert Busch home theater systems because when this "ISF "imaging science foundation" tech guy came over to calibrate my beloved Pioneer Elite 151fd Kuro HD plasma set, I could not believe the level of high caliber gear and test equipment he brought over to calibrate my set. It was obvious that it cost a fortune and although I am somewhat familiar with test equipment, I had no clue what any of it was. He was in my living room for the better part of 4 hours working feverishly to make sure he did everything to make my gorgeous Kuro look better. Towards the end of Pioneer, the Kuro that I bought was listed, msrp, at a whopping $7500 at best buy, certainly worthy of any technical improvements I could pay to have done. Since my original meeting with Robert I have had to use his services subsequently on additional gear I've purchased. He was always a phone call away if I had to do trouble shooting on my own. He has helped with hdmi receiver to tv handshake issues which can be maddening to deal with. A hanshake problem is when your HDMI cable doesn't properly sync with both peices of gear causing loss of picture and sound. There were some new components required for installation and I asked him for pricing. I am a prudent shopper to say the least and I know that the prices he quoted me were well under standard msrp pricing and I was happily surprised with the quotes he gave me. Personally, I can't imagine using any other ISF pro to help calibrate my video gear. He is in a class all his own to be sure. He even made it not likely for me to be able to go in to the secret menus available on this world class television. to make dumb changes myself. I felt it was time for an update on the services I continue to receive from him. Good news is, he is younger than I am which makes it probable that my future calibration requirements will be done by him. He is a bright, intelligent man who lives the science of knowing how to make HD televisions look better, and I'm sure he gets tremendous satisfaction form the results he is able to wrest from these TV sets, and I thought I was the super compulsive one??? read more

Robert was recommend by Napa Valley Stereo to calibrate my new TV. I did not realize what a difference it made after he was done. He explains everything that is being done. This is a drawback to the good days when good customer service actually meant something. I would highly recommend him to anyone who buys a new TV. We initially had Robert figure out why the pieces of our AV system installed several years ago by another contractor were no longer working. He identified some problems and got it all working again within a couple of hours but also gave us various options ranging from upgrades to replacing the whole system. We decided to replace everything and to fix the built-in cabinet, speakers and all the system wiring as well. He was honest, reliable and very fair. He and his team of other contractors ran into some unexpected problems with the old wiring and construction of our house and had prompt reasonable solutions. He really knows his stuff. Please, despite the positive reviews, do yourself and your wallet a favor - stay clear from Robert! Worked twice w/him; the last one ended up being a total rip-off! The cost of his services (his "meter" is running for anything and everything), which didn't even include the TV; Blue-Ray player; or Surge Protector ran well over $3K for a simple bedroom display. Not only do you pay for his self-professed "genius" insofar as the installation (he calls himself "just a connection guy"), but he'll charge you retail prices for all of the hardware when he's buying it at wholesale prices. Oh; by the way - the display that he reconnected from my last home had an awful picture after he got done, i.e. sporting events were terribly "jumpy." Hired someone else who, w/o all of Robert's incessant verbal spewing of ego, charged me by the hour. He diagnosed and fixed the problem in no time. Do you really want to work w/someone who, for example, claims to have spent 2 hours "researching" which wall mount to use, when he's supposedly installing displays all the time? As a former colleague of Robert's said to me: "Robert is one of the 50 best calibrators in the country [pause], if you can tolerate dealing with Robert." read more

Home theater is our thing. We have a high end system consisting of McIntosh components and B & W speakers. Our display is a Panasonic TH-65VX100U. This is a $10,000 monitor that was manufactured and competed with the Pioneer Kuro's. For the last 20+ years we have had Robert Busch come into our home to calibrate our system whenever we added to it. Not only is Robert Busch one of the nicest gentleman that you will ever meet, he is the best person that we know of to totally dial in and calibrate any system.... period. Robert is very professional and totally detail oriented. The difference in the picture of the Panasonic before and after is HUGE!!!!. The $400.00 that we spent to have Robert calibrate our system was a bargain. We highly recommend Robert to make your home theater come alive. You will not find a nicer, more knowledgeable person to do business with, than Robert Busch. He gets an A++++ in our book. Thank you Robert, you ROCK!!! read more

Let me first start of by saying, I am greatly thankful to find someone like Robert with the years of experience under his belt and the service that he provides. I have to admit I was nervous at first, just like one other Yelper that reviewed earlier on here. That persons review helped me go forward, but afterwards I can't say enough. Robert and what he does is the best business I ever paid for in all my years. I'm just speechless with everything that he did and was willing to do to get my set right. He calibrated my TV and it was exactly what I was hoping it could be and more. If you're thinking about either calibrating your set or any other services that Robert provides, don't doubt one second.
