The "Beast" died and would not boot up...3 weeks before my daughter's wedding. Fortunately I use Time Machine and all files were backed up. Honestly, I was so distracted by my daughter's wedding logistics, that I didn't care how calm and laid-back Jon's approach was. It honestly sounded like a dying duck. One early morning, a family member came downstairs and thought there was a duck in the backyard in trouble. They went outside to investigate. Nope, it was just my sad...dying laptop. I tried going to someone I used before, but luckily for me, he wasn't at his office during his hours of operation. I hopped onto Yelp and found Jon @ Tech Assist 101. I reached out and within a few minutes, we were making a plan to drop off my laptop for service. When I dropped it off, Jon immediately diagnosed the problem (fan). Long story short, my laptop is back home and while I grew accustomed to the duck noises...it's now gone. Jon was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable. He kept me abreast of the progress throughout (it took a few days to get a certain part and there was actually another issue w/ the laptop that needed resolve). I went from an old version of windows 7 (discontinued over a year ago)... he put in a new hard drive and help move all my extensive files over, helped update an old antiquated email system. Unfortunately, running into tech issues on my laptop happens at the most inconvenient time, but luckily Jon is a phone call away to help resolve those pesky issues. Jon is experienced, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Definitely a good person to know! I value Jon's time and ability to efficiently resolve these technical discrepancies. I was writing a paper and couldn't save it or any Word document for that matter. How annoying and terrifying at the same time! Jon is the best computer tech I've ever worked with! He checks all the boxes! He's on time, dependable, smart, easy to talk with, gets the job done, and can respond quickly when I need a fast answer. He helped me transition from my old CPU to a new one, and then rehabed the old one so I have redundancy. He even found all my 4000+ fonts, which made me feel so good! (I'm a fontaholic!) I needed a couple of items fixed on my Windows laptop - no access to my WiFi, and inability to connect to my video monitor. Quotes from local shops were running around $200 for each of the two problems, with surgery on the laptop apparently the only option. I tried Jon, based on his Yelp reviews, and he pointed me to a network adapter USB plug-in for $25 and an HDMI USB plug-in for $50, both available either from a local office supply store or Amazon. I bought the two items, plugged them in, and now the laptop works with both the video monitor and the WiFi. Saved me $300, and Jon didn't pocket a dime. I have to really respect a business who puts their customer first like that...and I wasn't even his customer when I called. Next time I have a computer problem, I know who I'm calling. read more

I brought my laptop to him recently and after going out of his way to accommodate the unscheduled meeting, he sat down with me for a consultation. I read all the positive reviews and took my laptop in to Tech Assist 101 because I thought the hard drive had crashed. Upon hearing that they thought the hard drive had crashed, and they could sell me a new one, I made the decision to take the laptop to another venue that recommended doing diagnostics. Eventually they found that the hard drive had not crashed at all, but the local hard drive was too full and had gotten hung up on an update, causing a "blue screen." The Tech Assist guys were super personable and nice but I felt I got better advice elsewhere. read more

The motherboard on my custom computer went out plus it was time for a major upgrade. Jon completely overhauled it, changed it to solid state drive and transferred all my data into it from my hard drive that thankfully was good. Now my computer rips!! I run 3 screens and Jon got all that working perfectly plus got the Microsoft license transferred since my computer had all new guts.
