Spent $29 on two meals in the drive thru. got home and the chicken was old, hard, and uneatable. The mashed potatoes potatoes were like warm and the gravy was cold. No plastic wear, no napkins. Called back to the store for a credit, and after finding receipt and giving ALL info to the manager, she refused any compensation, unless i brought back all the food, the bag, and receipt. Being disabled and my son having to leave for work, I was unable to return. I asked if I could bring it all in tomorrow for a refund and she said she would see, if i brought it all back. I have eaten here quite a few times and the food is usually pretty good and fresh. Today was very different. It was raining really hard so I can understand the workers wanting to get the food out and be done. I ordered a 10 piece family meal with 2 sides. The chicken was not so fresh and the potatoes were not mixed right you could still see the powder in it. How the worker couldn't see that when fixing it I don't know. The corn nuggets were pretty fresh and I added a family green bean to it. I took the order back to them and they remade everything. Once I got home and sat down to eat the chicken still tasted like it was reheated and dry and the potatoes and green beans had a burnt taste to them. I came by to get dinner after work. The hours listed are not correct. I hate that I drove all the way over and they do not close at the time listed on the website or on Google maps. This was my second visit to this place within a week. The first time I dined inside. Despite arriving at 10:30 AM (they open at ten), I was served cold fries and small, cold tenders. Today, I went at 11 AM and once again received cold fries and small, cold tenders. It's frustrating to consistently spend $20 or more and receive cold food. I won't be returning until they improve. Tenders tasted like they were yesterday's leftovers microwaved. When it's fresh and good like in the past you get home and it's still scalding hot to the touch. Can't say that was the same for today's visit. Fries were cold and rubbery. And at 12 noon on a Sunday during its peak time they claimed that they were out of jalapeno poppers. Love love love Bush's chicken! The only reason I'm not giving them the full 5 stars is the cleanliness of the dining room. I found it to be a little dirty and yucky. That being said, the food and service was great. The employees at Bush's are always very friendly and helpful. It's a little surprising considering it's mostly teenagers. We placed a rather large order. They said they'd bring it out to us including our drinks. We found a seat at one of their large round tables. The table was a little dirty and the floor needed some attention. Our food was out in a few minutes. I had the 4 piece tender meal with fries. I don't know what it is about Bush's chicken but I can never seem to find fried chicken that lives up to their flavor. The white meat is juicy and delicious and the breaking is perfectly flavorful and crispy. The plates come with a roll and gravy. Bush's gets 4 stars for their Ice, Tea and daily 2-5 drink specials. No one can beat that. The food is ok, not my first choice. I do like it ok. The drive through moves pretty quick which is a good thing. Whats even better is that they have a line for drink orders only which is always good (unless someone gets in the line and orders food then it can be longer). Went to bushes drive thru... this guy helped us he forgets the jalapeños, spoon for mash potatoes and napkins. You should always check before tipping/leaving. We noticed it after tipping and driving off but we are still in the parking lot so we went around the building and back in line. He seen us and we told him what he forgot. 20 minutes later we asked a Second person to help us and she did. I have always had good service and food from Bush's, however today at the Temple, TX location I ordered a 3 piece meal (breast, leg and wing) and once I got it I drove back to work (15 minutes each way). Bush's chicken is OK. The batter is a little hard and thick and if you don't get it when it's fresh it gets dry quickly. My biggest issue with Bush's is the prices. When they first came to Temple, it wasn't a bad deal, but the prices seem to go up at least 3 times a year. It is just getting too expensive to be worth it. read more

So I went to Bushes Chicken on 31st street in Temple and I didn't have the best experience while placing my order and receiving my order. The hispanic heavy set girl that took my order didn't seem like she wanted to be there because she had this bothered face and a bad attitude. After placing my order I realized that I could have done the family picnic meal, which she never brought it to my attention. If she would have I would have ordered the family picnic meal instead of what I have ordered because it was basically the same thing except I paid more. Then after recieving my order I had to double check that I recieved everything I had ordered. I then told the girl that I was missing a family size gravy, straws, and honey. Everytime I would tell her that I didn't get what I had asked for she'd walk away while I was talking to her. When she returned from getting some of the food I was missing I proceeded to ask for some more honey and she told me that honey was 10 cents a packet if I wanted more. After I had spent $54 here they want to charge for honey? Are you serious? When I got home I noticed that she had put sweet tea n my cup in stead of half n half tea which is what I had asked for. Then the chicken was hard and it tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. Overall bad experience and a WASTE of money!!! I will not be going there ever again! Bush's chicken is by far NOTHING to write home about. It's cheap, close by & gets the job done; stops the hunger. It's a step up above Church's if anything. They do have a few good things going for them though: they have mastered the drive-thru process with multiple lanes, have great ice, have capitalized on the idea of sweet tea & good drink specials like Sonic. So with that said, I do occasionally come here when I have coupons to use or for their so-so gizzards. read more
