Came with a group of 7. Read previous reviews for being an excellent brunch place, we thought we would give it a try. We tried to call ahead however it was an ai service so was unable to make reservations or check the status of thy could accommodate our large group. We decided to take a chance. Note Online reservations does not apply to large groups. We arrived, lots of parking in an outdoor lot. Few Handicap Parking spots near the entrance. 1hr wait, no problem we just stroll around the shops nearby. Returned in 45mins and table was ready. Two sizable seating areas. Not stroller accessible. Stairs up to both seating areas. Bathrooms right by the front door of the host area. We were with a toddler actively in potty training. Be aware the toliet seats are elongated and doesn't fit most toddler seat covers. There is a changing station in one of the bathroom. Now to the food, having a sizable food menu and cafe menu got our group excited. They ordered the pistachio latte and nitro cold brew. Both were well received. The jam and butter board was ordered for starters. With such a large group we ordered a diverse array of items. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros (pictured included) MIL ordered the corn beef hash, partner ordered the hot honey chicken and waffles, BIL got the Rueben hash and we ordered chicken strips for our toddler (forgot what the others ordered) The food took about 45 mins. The food was overall bland and disappointing the chicken was incredibly dry and tough. Our toddler who is obsessed with chicken strips, spit it out. I tried it and it was hard to swallow. Even the server agreed it was dryer than usual. The waffles were bland and dry. The only flavoring came from the hot honey. The corn beef hash was over sweet potato home fries. The scrambled eggs were nicely prepared with their house hollandaise sauce (bland). The corn beef was pleasantly surprising. Normally I avoid corn beef due the salt content however this was not as salty as I expected. But than again bland. The Ruben was tiny. I thought it was for a child. The chicken and waffles came with 1 piece of chicken, 1/3 size of our toddlers chicken strips. We were surprised there was 3% dine in service fee. There was no indication on their website only a 3% credit card fee. I cannot recall the menu citing this in person dining fee. Meaning an extra 6% fee just for using your credit card and dining in. This is crazy. Otherwise the food was bland. Nothing stood out. Not even their butter and jam. You would come here for the ambience not the food. Environment is well lit with boathouse vibes. Good for girls cafe catchup. Side note, even though all the foods were underwhelming we only sent back the chicken tenders because they're inedible. Baby choked on it, grown cousin choked on it and I almost choked on a piece. They offered to remake the dish however it was too late, everyone else was done and we were going to take our chances again. Took too long to get help to recover the situation. The manager took off the $10 chicken strip meal. Ambience 4/5- bright boat house vibes Service 3/5 - understaffed, if you don't have the staff don't fill the tables. Be fair to the people you serve and your coworkers. We can tell our server is trying but the house wasn't helping Food 1/5- bland Quantity 1/5 - adult meals were smaller than kids meals Quality 2/5- looks better than it tastes. Advertised uses quality ingredients however unsure how to execute. Wished they pay more attention to the flavor instead of the aesthetics. Suggestions: Move the food faster instead of leaving it under the warming lights prevent drying out the food. Add a little salt to Huevos Rancheros as well as switch up the tomatoes, the tomato's were dull and did not brighten the dish, also with the flatness it just added to the bland flavor. Increased the portion sizes for the meals or decrease the charge. From what I gathered seeing other tables the kids meals were all larger than the adult meals. The "Brussels waffle" was missing something, maybe milk? It was extremely dense and heavy unlike the characteristics of a light and airy waffle with crisp edges (could also be sitting under the warmer too long as well). I might be hyper critical of this eatery due to their excessive fees and lack of meeting expectations from menu descriptions. I would understand if it was 1 or 2 dishes were mediocre, however with overwhelming consensus of the 9 dish selections were described to be savorless, it needs to be called out.

Butter & Jam Board, it's in the name!! You gotta order this.

I came here for brunch with my sister. The restaurant is clean and has a good amount of seating. We came on a Sunday afternoon and were seated fairly quickly. Our waiter was nice and never made us feel rushed. They have a great beverage menu, different iced teas, mocktails, coffees and even refreshers! I went for the lavender lemonade but honestly I had a hard time deciding. So did my sister, she opted for a matcha and the hibiscus iced tea. I couldn't resist ordering the butter and jam board, it's the name of the restaurant, you have to order it! I had no regrets on this decision, was it a lot for two people? Sure. Did I enjoy it immensely? Absolutely. There were three butters- lemon, cinnamon, and berry. All 3 butters were amazing but my absolute favorite was the lemon. There were 3 jams- berry, strawberry, and I believe orange. I was obsessed with the lemon butter paired with the berry jam... heavenly! Honestly you can't go wrong with anything on that board. The breads for the spreads were croissant pieces, corn muffins and biscuits. I loved the biscuits the most. Unfortunately sister pretty was not feeling her best prior to our coming here, so she was content with the breads and spreads and opted to only get a smoothie with added protein. She said it was exactly what she needed and she perked up for the rest of our time together. I ordered the steak and eggs burrito and it did not disappoint! The steak was so juicy and tender- my only complaint is I wanted more!! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and there was a generous amount of avocado. It came out in a large plate and didn't have a side, I think they would do well to note on the menu or verbally when you're ordering that for an extra $___ you can get a side of fries, because I didn't think of it, but if it was told to me I definitely would have opted for a side. We had a great experience here and I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Came here on Sunday afternoon. Waited 30 min for a table. The side we sat on was pretty small and cramped. The service was standard but good. We ordered the jam and butter board along with eggs that came with home fries and toast. I also got a side of chicken sausage. The jam and butter board were good. The jams and butters were tasty. The eggs were standard along with the home fries. We also got a hot chocolate and a strawberry açaí refresher.

I came here for brunch and it was delicious. My friend and I were in the area for purse fixing. She found this place and im glad she did. We shared the platter of butter and jams. The butters and jams were really good. I definitely recommend this platter to everyone. As an entree, I ordered the huevos rancheros. The huevos rancheros were good and it was a good portion. I liked the crunchy tortilla but I didn't like the sausage they used in the dish. I would definitely come back if I were in the area. My friend let me taste her lemon ricotta pancake. The pancake was ok; I didn't taste the lemon ricotta flavor. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. She checked in on us and had our order correct. The place is pretty and had good lighting.

The hostess delilah was exquisite. She was emotional and kind and just a genuine soul you can tell . The food was amazing, I got pancakes with nutella and it was DEEEELICIOUS. It was crowded but the welcoming atmosphere lured me in and i stayed the little extra five for a gorgeous breakfast meal. Will be here again, Thanm you Butter & Jam.

Stopped here for breakfast after a work trip before heading to the airport and can't stop thinking about it! Everything I tasted was insanely delicious. I had the wild mushroom scramble, potatoes, and some berries. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the most incredible egg scramble I've ever had. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and so crispy. The butter and jam board was so cute, and I didn't taste it but my friend said it was all super good. The service was quick and friendly and the place was open and clean. I'm going to have to find a reason to go back to NJ for this place alone.

We were in the area abs decided to give a try. The restaurant side had an event so the wait time was long. Both sides are small, but very busy. The butter and jam board was the highlight. The different butters were so delicious. The berry jam was good as well. My garden omelette was well made and delicious. My son enjoyed his hot chocolate with all the trimmings. Plus his French toast. I would return, but with reservations of possible.

Great spot and one of the only breakfast places in town. We came for a late breakfast during the week this time and I got the vegetable omelette. The omelettes are great and the portion size is pretty large.

Loved loved loved stumbling upon this place on Sunday! It was a gorgeous day to sit outside and have a cup of coffee and a good meal. I love that there is ample seating outside and ample parking! The menu has enough variety and is not overwhelming. We ordered the hot honey chicken and waffles and the red peppers, mozzarella omelette. My husband devoured the hot honey chicken and waffles, usually he's not a hot honey fan but he said it was delicious. Good piece of chicken and beautiful fried yet still juicy. If you prefer to dip your food then I'd asked for the syrup on the side. The omelette was so good. Lots of cheese and red peppers. The side of home fries was seasoned so well and I loved the hint of spice. Also liked that they gave you a choice of toast. Blueberry lemonade was also a hit! All of the staff was so super nice and friendly.

Mixed reviews for a Saturday breakfast at the bar. Busy inside, all the tables full and some people eating outside even though it was a windy morning. Loud inside with everyone talking and nothing but hard surfaces to enhance the noise. The fresh OJ and Cafe Au Lait were excellent. I had the ricotta and strawberry jam which was outstanding! My date wanted eggs over medium with home fries, but it came out with scrambled. Server fixed the order, but by then the home fries were cold and the eggs were over easy...real easy. Her toast was burnt and she commented "with a name like Butter and Jam, I'm surprised I have to butter my own toast." We waited about 20 minutes for food after ordering, not bad considering the place was full. Recommend if you eat here stick to the namesake, get one of the toasts and a coffee, don't go for a typical american breakfast.

on Saturday I had my daughters bridal shower at Butter & Jam and let me tell you from day 1 when I asked about the space and the date Daniela was so kind and accommodating, i seriously bothered her with questions for a year !!! Then let me tell you about Bill my oh my he seriously hands down is one of the best ! he made sure everything ran smooth and took care of each and everyones needs. oh and let's not forget Andrew and Jaydon and the rest of the servers and staff stupendous, delightful, all around 100% customer service. Now let's get to the food Delish. Can we talk about the atmosphere so retro and just perfect more than enough space I had a little under 50 ppl and the best is you can bring your own alcohol for we had Mimosa and margaritas . We as well brought in desserts that they kindly set up along with the food for I had a buffet . Daniella and Bill I would like to thank you again and again for making my daughters bridal shower on target. it was a snowy rainy day on April 21st but inside Butter and Jam the sun was shining . Great place! Brunch food definitely was more on the breakfast side than lunch but the offerings were all great - we had a table of 5 and all had outstanding reviews of the flavor, serving size and uniqueness of offerings. The atmosphere is bright and airy with some limited outdoor seating as well. Our server was great - she had a lot of tables and was working her butt off to handle all of them. I'll be happy to go back in the future however there was one big issue. The hostess sat us at 10:40 for a 10:30 reservations. One of our entrees was entered wrong and they had to replace the entree which took a while. Our server then got hit with a table of 18 young ladies and it took her a while to place all of their orders while we were waiting for our check. At 11:40 the hostess came to us and said "We really need you to leave". I explained to her that we got the check at 11:39 and she really didn't care. That hostess was the only knock against a great brunch restaurant. read more

Came here on a weekday for breakfast and we were seated quickly. The restaurant was crowded in our area though, and loud, which was not the fault of the restaurant but the floor was dirty from the other party and the ambience was just ok. I don't think we understood how the menu worked (we had to pull it up in our phones), and it took a little longer to order as a result of that confusion. Prices are a little high for the area and unless it was a sweet meal, the options are a little limited for vegetarians. We ordered an egg sandwich and an omelet. Portion sizes were decent and the food came out relatively quick. The coffee was weak though, and the service was quite slow overall. read more

My grandma lives nearby so we've been here twice for brunch. Both times they were out of orange juice for mimosas (BYO) which is super weird for a brunch place to be out of OJ all the time. Portions are small.l; definitely not diner size meals. All the servers are teens trying their best but service is not good. The owner really seems like he's winging it lol. Food is tasty but nothing special at all. read more

The best brunch restaurant in Morris County; the menu was impressive, the ambiance was great and Bill and his staff provided excellent service. Most importantly, the food was delicious! We walked in to this cozy breakfast spot not knowing what to expect. We had made a reservation at that was honored as we were seated with priority. Now on to the food and service. The gluten free pancakes made my wife very happy. She had the lemon ricotta style but I'm sure any type would be great for gluten free folks. I had the corn-beef skillet and that was also good. It's not the traditional corn-beef and potatoes but rather whole pieces on beef surrounded by potatoes, peppers, onions, and spinach. I put the sauce on the side and never needed it. The food came out quickly as we were seated by 10:30 and walked out pleasantly full at 11:15. The owner is a nice man who checks on all to make sure everything is to your liking. Really enjoyed our experience here. Service is great. Especially our server, Elyse, she was super nice and attentive. Extensive menu...so many great options to choose from. I had the herbed goat cheese and smoked salmon toast, which was very flavorful. We also shared the Fall Apple pancakes as a table and all really enjoyed it. We had the cinnamon honey butter with it...so good. We were a group of 6 and everyone really liked their meals and plan to come back. read more

Decent breakfast food, though nothing that's better than the numerous local diners in the area at a far cheaper price. The one hit was the butter and jam board, with corn muffins, croissants, and breads to sample the various butters and jams. The pancakes were not soft or fluffy, they were pretty dense with a slight crust on the outside, which some people might like. Fried artichokes as an appetizer were also tasty. read more

The service was perfect and professional and kind. The food was outstanding. My husband had the beef hash with eggs. He said it was the best he'd ever had. I ordered the avocado toast and added two poached eggs. It was delicious! A cafe latte was so smooth and and excellent English breakfast tea. We will be back many many times and will highly recommend it to our friends and acquaintances. The ambience was open, light filled, modern with a minimalist touch. I'm leaving this review for Butter & Jam alone. Their other restaurant at the same location, Pico & Guac, is actually amazing. Butter & Jam however isn't great. It should just be Pico & Guac. My friend and I went to Butter & Jam for brunch this morning. I ordered the shrimp street tacos which they said they could do as lettuce wraps. My friend ordered the same and we each got a biscuit with strawberry jam and butter. The biscuit was OK. Tasty but nothing amazing. The lettuce wraps were awful which surprised me because Pico & Guac (literally the same location) has delicious lettuce wraps. There are so many great brunch spots in the surrounding area. This place is severely lacking. I wouldn't come back. Pico & Guac though -- I'll definitely return! read more

Would give 3.5 to 4 stars if it improves on cleanliness. They need someone to walk around and broom up all the food left under tables. It's kind of gross to be looking at dirty floors with food when you are trying to eat. (This is easily fixable) The servers were very nice and the food was good. The wings were a great fried consistency. I think I may just prefer them spicy alone without the sweet part. The pancakes were awesome!!!! Very good pancakes. The corned beef hash was not great. The corned beef needs improvement (it was not tender at all - maybe try cooking it in a slow cooker) Fries were very good as well. read more

I really don't like giving bad reviews but I was not pleased with my experience. One thing, I will admit is my fault, is that I didn't read the description of the Eggs Benedict, which maybe you guys should change to Eggs Florentine. I ordered eggs benedict to-go, along with a vanilla latte with almond milk. The drink was ok, nothing to holler about. I waited there for my food. Seemed like a long wait but I don't know what the kitchen staff is like. When I got my food, I ate it pretty instantly since I work in town so it's not like I had to drive far and have it sit in my car for a while before eating it. I started eating it within 2 or 3 minutes. The house fries (breakfast potatoes basically) were not even hot. Like I just grabbed it from him when he got it from kitchen and the potatoes were already turning cold. They didn't even taste fresh, almost like they have been sitting around. The eggs benedict were not what I expected, like I said I did not read the description. There was spinach and tomato and from eating it, I didn't think there was any Canadian bacon. Finally, I found it but it was sliced so so thin you could barely taste it. Just had a mouthful of tomato and spinach. Eggs benedict should be at least slightly drenched in, what I thought would be hollandaise sauce, but instead a tiny drizzle of this "dijon herb beurre blanc" which I saw later in the description. Such a cute brunch spot in Madison! I came here with my friends and instantly loved the aesthetic. So many options on the menu. The side of potatoes was delicious, had some peppers in there too. I got the strawberry Nutella french toast, and it was divine, loved the caramel drizzle and fresh strawberries. Lots of seating, a little loud inside but such an amazing spot for brunch. read more

Very attentive service. Menu has lots of fresh, healthy options. The wild mushroom scramble was delicious. I also took an avocado chicken club to go and it was tasty. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. I love that I was able to enjoy brunch at 2pm on a weekday. I'm not from the area and had a little trouble finding it - it's through an alley way off the main ave next to the Snooki store and you can actually park in the back area right at the restaurant entrance.
