What a charming cafe! We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who was delightful and really took an interest in us. It truly added a special touch! We popped in to grab some lunch. Batavia Cafe was just what we needed! We had a half-turkey club (made with house-roasted turkey!), chicken & sausage jambalaya, salad, and turkey soup with barley and vegetables. Everything was delicious! We left with chocolate chip cookies and banana bread baked by the owner. I don't normally eat dessert, but these baked goods were flavorful and not too sweet. The cookies were the best I'd ever tasted, and I ate each bite slowly. Lots of top-quality chocolate in a cookie reminiscent of a vanilla malt. The texture of the banana bread was perfect, and unlike most banana breads, his version did not taste of overripe bananas. It was more like a spice cake. Tasty, healthy food; nice people; a lovely atmosphere, lively but quiet enough for conversation; and a clean bathroom -- what more could you ask for? read more

I always walk past this place because it is next to the sketchy Walgreens which is clearly a Mafia front. Like the sketchy Walgreens the front shade is often completely drawn. But maybe only after 3. It closes at 3 which seems early but maybe not if you only serve breakfast and lunch. I went in for a breakfast wrap in my quest to sample more Summit breakfast options. It was a fancy breakfast wrap. And I got a cafe mocha. Wrap was good. I got it to go. It was fancy inside but it did have a fancy price. Mocha was also good. Cute inside. Nice people. Clean. It didn't knock my socks off. I wouldn't run back. But no complaints. Drugstore took a really long time and it was a prescription for 14 pills. It does not take long to count to 14. Date 6/19/21: Batavia Cafe is the only cafe that I've run across that actually offers "you", "tap water". Last Saturday afternoon, I stopped in for a bite to eat. The café has cute indoor and outdoor seating. The young women behind the counter were very accommodating. Also, the entire staff wore masks. I ordered a Turkey Club Wrap $12.95. The girl asked me, if I wanted something to drink. When she told me the drinks, I was totally surprised that iced tap water was actually offered. The Turkey Club was brought over to me along with the ice water quickly. The Turkey Club Wrap was absolutely delicious!!! All the ingredients were very fresh. It was large enough, that I could take the other half home for a meal. The cafe does offer gluten free for an extra charge. The entire cafe was very clean including the restroom. Parking is available on metered streets and town parking lots. Bastia Cafe is very well organized. Overall- 5 Star! read more

Wow! What a ripoff this place is. I'm surprised it's as popular as it seems to be. Ordered the $12.45 grilled cheese (see pic). Went late Christmas Eve morning. Inside was chilly (bathroom especially) felt like the heat wasn't on . I had a panini with turkey, Brie and cranberry on gf bread. It was just okay. Came in for a quick, healthy and simple lunch and Batavia checked off all boxes. Food is ordered at the counter and they have a wide variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. This is basically like a non-chain gourmet version of Panera Bread. There is plenty of outdoor patio seating and indoor seating which is a mix of tables and cozy couches. On to the eats- I ordered a chicken salad wrap with tomato and cucumber. The wrap was stuffed with alot of chicken salad and the chicken was really fresh and all white meat. My Dad ordered some sort of chicken avocado club sandwich and enjoyed it. This is a nice option if you don't feel like sitting down for lunch but also want something that is healthy and freshly prepared. Although I was initially eyeing The Committed Pig up the street, I'm glad that I made the choice to take the healthier route at Batavia. Based on weekday breakfast time .. conviniently located near Summit downtown and station area. Amole paid street parking. Seemed like a comfy spot to work with free wi-fi, coffee and cafe like menu. Reason for 3 stars was food, had much higher expectations before entering in terms of presentation and service. Coffee latte and chai tea were given in to-go cups in-spite of being a sit-down order. Egg sandwich was nothing special - had to add salt and pepper with each bit to make up for taste. Although just before existing we saw soups being set up and vegi coconut soup caught our attention. What a cool place to hang out and just chat, chat, chat. I tend to have a 3-hour breakfast with a certain co worker, let's call her Grace, and she usually buys it for me. Today she recommended the Breakfast sandwich and I ordered Huevos Mexicanos, but I think, what I got was Batavia grilled cheese- a panini in white french bread with eggs and bacon which I consumed in a heartbeat. First thing I noticed was all the paintings they have all over the restaurant, and then I saw their soup bar , The smell.... SO GOOD. The food tastes ok. But the wait time is too long. We only ordered 2 things, and they messed up the order 3 times. It's a bit unacceptable. The sandwich was supposed to be with focaccia bread, but it came with regular bread. The toast came out wrong. When we returned it, they apologized and made us new one. Because I didn't have early morning meetings at work in the City,I decided to meet up with two girlfriends for a quick breakfast and Batavia was perfect. A quick walk from the train station and the perfect selection of breakfast items. I chose a breakfast sandwich - Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on their homemade focaccia and it was delicious! The bread was perfectly toasted with a slight crunch yet tender inside. My friends ordered oatmeal with fruit and yogurt with fruit - both much healthier choices than mine and they were both pleased with their selection. Besides the food, the restaurant was more like sitting in your friend's home. We could've stayed all day chatting and eating.. It is okay. This place has a great ambience with open dining area and a bright but warm inviting environment. It seems like a good place to catch up with friends or a hunker down on a good book. I REALLY wanted to like this place more. Was looking forward to trying this place for months and sad to say I was underwhelmed. When you walk in you think, "yay, a lunch place with atmosphere" but then you order. Staff was mild in personality and the food did take forever as some others commented. I wasn't going to get upset because I thought, I bet it'll be super fresh and tasty then. Nah. Small, and I mean small, portions. Wraps are half the size of a regular size wrap. At 8-9 a pop they should at least give you a small size or a pickle. Had the California Marinated Chicken Wrap and while it was good it had all of 2 pieces of chicken and wayyyy too much lettuce. The avocado was fresh but the tomatoes (pic uploaded) were underripe. Why offer tomato then? My husband had a side of fries with probably 10 fries in total. I mean, definitely a plus that they are portion aware, but then lower your price!? *** Came here again recently to have a coffee and study and when I asked for a large iced coffee I noticed the girl behind the counter grab a hot cup. I said "oh no, I said iced" and she turned around and nastily said "you didn't say iced." Ouch. Even if I didn't, isn't the customer always right? Woof. Ok, the fact that this is a furniture/art gallery AND a coffee shop already wins it several stars for creativity. But the coffee I had - an americano - was good and strong, and I had a bitchin' chocolate almond biscotti too. It was fantastic. Almost hard enough to break a tooth but flaky at the same time. Mini chocolate chip cookies and mini brownies also looked good, but I showed some restraint. I liked that the place was rather quiet and chill, and you can sit anywhere, even on the stylish (and expensive) chairs and couches that are all around... Yesterday I had lunch at Batavia Cafe and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The employees were very kind and safe. I ordered inside and then took a seat outside. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered the Spicy Aioli Grilled Chicken sandwich without bacon and it was so good! It was a bit spicy, but definitely not overpowering. I also got a small cup of water. I really enjoyed my dining experience and I will definitely come back again! You know that organic, Eco-friendly, slightly hipster friend that may on occasion seem slightly pretentious but you know is genuinely well meaning and totally friendly? That's what Batavia cafe is. A large, clean room with cafeteria (but nicer and cleaner) feeling tables lined up and decorated with succulents and raw wood accents. A counter where you can order your "create your own" or pre-designed salads, interestingly upscale sandwiches, or help yourself to any of the delicious soups available. Sit down and wait to hear your number called from the pick up window. Grab your silverware, add any condiments you may desire (at least 4 hot sauces available - score!), and chow down. I opted for a half salad half sandwich combo (~ $10). The salad had a choice of base, 3 veggies, option to add heavier proteins or other add-ins for an up-charge, and dressing. It was a pretty generous portion for a "half" and they didn't skimp on toppings (beets, chick peas and olives in my case). I also opted for the spinach artichoke melt sandwich. Served panini style, it was basically an adult grilled cheese sandwich: artichoke, spinach, and mozzarella blended together ooey gooey. At first glance I wasn't terribly impressed with appearance or portion, but it truly was delicious and was a richly filling balance to my lighter salad. Staff is friendly. The room is bright and feels like a place that encourages you to drink ginger and green tea while working on your MacBook. I settled for my lunch and punching away at some work on my work computer and was very happy. Free wifi, outlets next to most (if not every) table. At least one couch to sit on if that's your mood. Big coffee and tea selection with muffins and lighter fare if you want it. read more

This place is a hot mess. I have seen so many good restaurants come and go in Summit that I can't believe that this one will stay in business that much longer. I was VERY disappointed with Batavia Cafe, especially with all of the hype my wife and I had heard about the place. We came here for lunch one day, as it's a bike ride from our house. I'm gonna break it down by topic to make life easier for Yelpers (as I try and do often): +Wait time: Everyone who commented prior about the excessive waiting time is spot-on. I had maybe three people ahead of me, and I waited about 12 minutes for two wraps. +Water: Believe it or not, this was an annoyance. My wife Jacquie G. and I tend to rock cups and refill waters. You save money and don't need to buy an overpriced water. However, at Batavia, the machine is behind the cashier. As a result, ANY drinks you get that are based off of refills, you can't do whenever you want. You have to ask the cashier and interrupt transactions to have a refill. For someone who drinks a lot of water during a meal, it became a big inconvenience to keep asking the cashier to refill my cup - especially when it got busy. Annoying. +Portion size: TINY. I've had some small portions in my life, and this place is close to the top of the list. My Chicken Caesar wrap was MINUSCULE for the price, and the side of fries I got? I could anticipate the count of them by sight. That's not a good thing. Wasn't happy at all with that. Batavia is definitely overpriced - the quality of food wasn't bad. My wife and I both enjoyed our wraps, but the price, portion size, wait time for the meal, and annoyance of the drinks issue made this place a 2/5. read more

First of all, the owners were honestly the most kind people we have ever met. My boyfriend and I were on vacation and we couldn't have asked for better service. We had the chicken wraps and the pinini and they were to die for! We have had our fair share of paninis and chicken wraps, but these were off the charts good. I came here with a friend yesterday for lunch and had a pretty nice experience. The cafe's interior was gorgeous, and the atmosphere was mad classy! It was definitely a cool place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. I was starving, so I ordered the soup & panini combo: wild mushroom & barley soup with half of a Caprese Melt. It was a great deal - only $8.95! Oh, and I upgraded from small to medium (soup size) for 50 cents. The soup was very filling! I loveeeee mushrooms so this was a win for my taste buds. The panini was pretty good but a little skimpy. The tomatoes were sliced too thin, and there wasn't enough mozzarella. The homemade pesto was good, but there must wayyyyy too much slathered on my sandwich. My buddy got a breakfast wrap and iced coffee. Although I didn't try his food, he seemed to enjoy it!
