It's previously Village Inn, but with new ownership. Menu has stayed relatively the same, which is great for us old school menu lovers. I ordered the Santa Fe chicken skillet with two eggs over easy with green sauce and wheat toast, with coffee. It's my all time favorite. My family and I chose this place after grandpa's funeral service. They were courteous and efficient, as we were a large party. We made special family moments that evening. I'm sure they do amazing service with smaller groups. Menu has food for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's meant to satisfy all bellies. That's why we all agreed to this place. Plenty of parking. Enjoy!

Who wants to make a bet that this restaurant will close soon? Here is why.... My visit was terrible. Customer service was SLOW, no one was at the host stand when we arrived and the food took about 30-45 min to arrive. Most of my family just ordered pie. Literally waited a good 30 minutes for pie. To make matters worse drinks took equally as long. Refills? Nope, we didn't get them and we had to get up to get help at one point, that was to simply pay our bill. Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies is similar to Village Inn but with the ability to buy alcohol. Patrons visiting during my visit were not drinking alcohol. The service seriously lacks and I'm going to say that with as much restaurant competition little old El Paso has, this place will have to revamp their staff, learn customer service, and simply just care to stay competitive and remain open. The worst part for a restaurant is having people who do not care. With only 2 other tables and plenty of staff, the service was a disappointment. You have one shot, and for me, this was a miss! Would never return. The food wasn't great so nothing worth returning for.

Menudo.. ALL YOU CAN EAT!! WaitWha?? Yass!! Served Daily.. OMG!! Soooo Delish, Soooo perfect.. SOOOO TEXAS!! Ok, ok yes it's like super hot here in El Paso, Texas but never to hot for Menudo. This is the just like the menudo my Ama use to make when my sisters and I were little. Ya know adding hominy sure does make all the difference in the world. Let me send a shout out to Mari our beautiful waitress with amazing customer service. She was very respectful and very professional. Me, being from California you don't see many waiters and/or waitresses that treat you courteously and with such professionalism.. Thank you Ms. Mari for making my experience at Butter Smith's an eventful and memorable one. Food was super delish.

Other than their location on Zaragosa I love this place. The ambiance is super cozy, giving "modern dinner" as soon as you walk in. The menu varies with traditional and Mexican items, and a big selection of pies, of course! The service is good and prices not too bad. I only wish it was closer to me and not in such traffic congested part of town, but it's worth the the trip once in a while.

We decided to stop by for dessert, and then changed our mind and split a margarita grilled cheese basil sandwich with tomato soup and hot coffee! It's cool outside. Actually, I'm freezing, so the coffee was perfect! Service was a bit slow, but not bad. We were in no rush. The food was pretty good. The tomato soup was warm, not hot, so I asked the waiter to microwave it! Sent it back, and got it just right! The fries were soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Not bad, tasty! Can you believe it, we ordered dessert! I had a slice of key lime pie and hubs had berry pie! They were delicious! Bring another pot of hot coffee! We rolly-pollies rolled out of there ready to burst! Most definitely recommended. 5/5

I brought my grandma and grandpa here for breakfast on a Saturday morning thinking it was going to be a long line but we were able to get a seat quickly. As soon as you walk it you see all the fresh pies they make daily and put on display. The pies look so delicious!!! Our server Jackelyn was so sweet and super attentive to our table. She always made sure to check up on us. I could tell she was working her @ss off too throughout the restaurant also. I ordered the all you can eat menudo and it was decent. They do give you a small bowl. My grandma tried it and she approved so it got approval from her lol. My grandpa got the Texas Chicken Fried steak skillet and it was gone pretty fast. My grandma got the huevos rancheros and I tried the green chile sauce they put on top and it was delicious!! Their salsa is also very flavorful!!! Oh and at the end I wanted to get a strawberry crepe to share with my grandma and it was so good I only got about 2 bites and she ate the rest LOL ok so overall for my first time experience here I will definitely be coming back again maybe for happy hour next time :) enjoy my pics

I love a place that has breakfast all day. Yes, as you can see from the pictures, I had some Benedict eggs for dinner. On the other hand the rest of my party all had dinner. We weren't sure about the tostadas here, however, I can say we were pleasantly surprised with the results. Everything was fantastic. To finish off the night, we each had a slice of pie with coffee. I had some pumpkin pie and the rest ordered cherry pie. The staff was good, but I believe that this night they were under staffed. They did the best they could but service was a little slow.

This morning as we headed out to our final destination we were looking for someplace open on Christmas Day for breakfast that wasn't packed. We stumbled upon Butter Smith and decided to give it a try. I had the Cali Skillet and my husband had the green Chile breakfast enchiladas. Both were excellenT. Our waiter Robert was very nice and the restaurant was super clean. Noticed a lot of single fathers taking their kids out for Christmas breakfast this morning I would definitely love to try this place again if I am ever back in the area.

Overall it was ok. It did feel that the service logistics were a bit off track- some confusion with orders and such but I'm assuming it's because the place was busy on a Sunday morning. The food was good, nice addition not on the online menu was watermelon mimosa which was 10/10 delicious. Despite some service hiccups the staff was very nice and pleasant.

The food was a nice change of pace from traditional El Paso foods. Soul food eggrolls: it was like a big spoonful of granny's Sunday meal without overeating. I'd never put greens, Mac n cheese, and chicken together but somehow it worked. Understandably, it wasn't seasoned like granny's to appease the masses, but the sauce on the side elevated the taste. Shrimp and grits: such a New Orleans feel to it, a much try and f you like the taste of grits. Savory and flavorful. The steak skillet was a heaping serving of deliciousness. TVs are located throughout, from various table angles. Our server Alex will receive 5/5 stars for his kindness, attentiveness and attention to not only our table but his very full and frequently sat section. However, when reaching out to other staff members for assistance in his absence, there were some things that fell through the cracks. Missing silverware, condiments not being present, and at times things going forgotten or unnoticed when requested. The appetizer (pictured) Philly Egg-rolls, were the best food option we received for brunch that afternoon. It was shareable between 3 adults and filling before the entrees arrived. I wouldn't order the Monte Cristo Sandwhich again, very large, dry and just didn't pair well with the potatoes and the jam offered (pictured). We did have to switch out drinks due to her taste and upkeep up the beverages. The sweet tea originally ordered did not taste well but received new drinks upon request: Mango and Strawberry lemonade. This is a family friendly place, busy, but I would give it another chance.

I saw some pictures of a new brunch place in the Far East off Zaragoza, and it looked good. It's hidden in the back next to Sky Zone and across the street from Oasis Lanes, so finding it was a little hard. When I walked in I didn't realize it was so small because I had convinced some of the girls to come to try it out with me from the Peachlab workouts. They wanted to come out to celebrate Nurse B's birthday as well as mine because that's the type of supportive community they are, but most are vegan, so I try to find places that have vegan food alongside others so that we can dine together as a group. When I saw that Boca Brava had vegan tacos on the menu, I was really excited. What I didn't know was that on Sundays they only have a Sunday Brunch menu and it doesn't have the regular items. The vegan tacos $3 each consisted of mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions (grilled and pickled), my friends enjoyed it with a variety of salsas. Luckily for us, our waitress was amazing and she got the staff to make us some vegan tacos. They were beyond accommodating and I appreciate that. Because they obviously were in a rush to make items that weren't on the menu that day, the tacos didn't come out perfectly and they're willing to redo it and also not charge us for it. My breakfast plate of 2 eggs, hashbrowns, one bacon slice, and 3 corn pancakes (with slightly spicy maple syrup) was $15. Mimosas were $3. My hashbrowns were really greasy, but the over-easy eggs and crispy bacon were cooked perfectly. The best part was the corn pancakes, I don't think I've had a lighter pancake but with substance. It wasn't doughy which is usually why I avoid pancakes, but crispy and light, probably because of the cornmeal. It was delicious. My other friend ordered chilaquiles and said that it was delicious and not mushy. We also ended up getting 2 free chocolate cakes because they overheard us saying that it was our birthday. Our waitress even took our picture, but I got cropped out, lol, my bad I didn't check the pictures until I got home. For a new place willing to admit they can be better and put the customers first, I really think they'll do well. It's refreshing and it'll bring back repeat customers. If I lived in the far East this would be one of my regular places. Boca brava (915) 219-8700 1691 N Zaragoza Rd STE 5, El Paso, TX 79936 https://maps.app.goo.gl/exW9sS3pcPrAvNzZ6

I wasn't happy and just ordered another and asked if I can have the mango and tamarind without chili and they said yes. The tamarind still has a spice to it which it shouldn't, tamarind is tart and sour. I guess that's where the misconception of Mexican and Puerto Rican terms collide.
