When I acknowledged it was waiting before th3 patron in front of me he said my party who was parking needed to be there before I was seated. Yet the other person was seated by herself and also had a party 3 as I did. I ask the *manager* Ashton about his reasoning he became very argumentative. I assured him I wasn't trying to argue just asking a question. He refused to give any information for resolution acting as if he own the entire franchise. I love buttersmith but his attitude and actions were very unacceptable and should not go unnoticed. Very unprofessional childish and rude. It's previously Village Inn, but with new ownership. Menu has stayed relatively the same, which is great for us old school menu lovers. I ordered the Santa Fe chicken skillet with two eggs over easy with green sauce and wheat toast, with coffee. It's my all time favorite. My family and I chose this place after grandpa's funeral service. They were courteous and efficient, as we were a large party. We made special family moments that evening. I'm sure they do amazing service with smaller groups. Menu has food for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's meant to satisfy all bellies. That's why we all agreed to this place. Plenty of parking. Who wants to make a bet that this restaurant will close soon? Here is why.... My visit was terrible. Customer service was SLOW, no one was at the host stand when we arrived and the food took about 30-45 min to arrive. Most of my family just ordered pie. Literally waited a good 30 minutes for pie. To make matters worse drinks took equally as long. Refills? Nope, we didn't get them and we had to get up to get help at one point, that was to simply pay our bill. Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies is similar to Village Inn but with the ability to buy alcohol. Patrons visiting during my visit were not drinking alcohol. The service seriously lacks and I'm going to say that with as much restaurant competition little old El Paso has, this place will have to revamp their staff, learn customer service, and simply just care to stay competitive and remain open. The worst part for a restaurant is having people who do not care. With only 2 other tables and plenty of staff, the service was a disappointment. You have one shot, and for me, this was a miss! Other than their location on Zaragosa I love this place. The ambiance is super cozy, giving "modern dinner" as soon as you walk in. The menu varies with traditional and Mexican items, and a big selection of pies, of course! The service is good and prices not too bad. I only wish it was closer to me and not in such traffic congested part of town, but it's worth the the trip once in a while. read more

We decided to stop by for dessert, and then changed our mind and split a margarita grilled cheese basil sandwich with tomato soup and hot coffee! It's cool outside. Actually, I'm freezing, so the coffee was perfect! Service was a bit slow, but not bad. We were in no rush. The food was pretty good. The tomato soup was warm, not hot, so I asked the waiter to microwave it! Sent it back, and got it just right! The fries were soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Not bad, tasty! Can you believe it, we ordered dessert! I had a slice of key lime pie and hubs had berry pie! They were delicious! Bring another pot of hot coffee! I brought my grandma and grandpa here for breakfast on a Saturday morning thinking it was going to be a long line but we were able to get a seat quickly. As soon as you walk it you see all the fresh pies they make daily and put on display. The pies look so delicious!!! Our server Jackelyn was so sweet and super attentive to our table. She always made sure to check up on us. I could tell she was working her @ss off too throughout the restaurant also. I ordered the all you can eat menudo and it was decent. They do give you a small bowl. My grandma tried it and she approved so it got approval from her lol. My grandpa got the Texas Chicken Fried steak skillet and it was gone pretty fast. My grandma got the huevos rancheros and I tried the green chile sauce they put on top and it was delicious!! Their salsa is also very flavorful!!! Oh and at the end I wanted to get a strawberry crepe to share with my grandma and it was so good I only got about 2 bites and she ate the rest LOL ok so overall for my first time experience here I will definitely be coming back again maybe for happy hour next time :) enjoy my pics read more

I love a place that has breakfast all day. Yes, as you can see from the pictures, I had some Benedict eggs for dinner. On the other hand the rest of my party all had dinner. We weren't sure about the tostadas here, however, I can say we were pleasantly surprised with the results. Everything was fantastic. To finish off the night, we each had a slice of pie with coffee. I had some pumpkin pie and the rest ordered cherry pie. The staff was good, but I believe that this night they were under staffed. We stumbled upon Butter Smith and decided to give it a try. I had the Cali Skillet and my husband had the green Chile breakfast enchiladas. Both were excellenT. We love this little diner. The staff is always friendly, the food is fast, hot and tasty.

Overall it was ok. It did feel that the service logistics were a bit off track- some confusion with orders and such but I'm assuming it's because the place was busy on a Sunday morning. While the atmosphere and service are great, the food quality doesn't match. The pie crust is not flaky like a crust should be, its dense. The carrot cake was more icing than cake, while the bit of carrot cake you got was good. The oatmeal was watery and not hot, and the country potatoes were dry with no flavor. I can say we are not disappointed on the switch from VI to Butter Smith. We came here twice in the past 2 months and the food was really good. The servers were a bit aloof and seemed very interested in whatever the conversation was than come check on the table. Last Saturday we came here for breakfast, and I also ordered the berries pie. The crust was uncooked, mostly raw. I had the pie filling but the overall experience on the pie was disappointing. My water glass had a grease stain that I only observed after I took a sip. Luckily, it was on the opposite side of the one I used. Overall, good food, the service could be better and the glasses could be cleaner. read more

We were in town and decided to try this place that had pies, pies, pies on the outside. We ordered the eggs with ranchero sauce. Man it was spicy! But it was good. The pancakes were delicious as well and not huge so you can eat with your meal. I don't recommend the Menudo. We got a sample to taste before ordering and it tasted watered down. No flavor at all. So today I tried butter smith for the first time. It gave me the retro cafe vibes not like the original village inn it used to be. The open concept and bar in the middle reminded me again of a retro style cafe..It was past 1 but I still wanted breakfast so I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. My plate arrived about 10 minutes later and I thought it was rather small, however it consisted of eggs, hash browns and pancakes. The chicken fried steak was smothered in a green chili gravy. It was actually pretty tasty. I actually got full, the plate was really enough for me. In all the food was good no complaints. This place was packed, even on a weekday...but it was near our hotel, so we decided to try it. Our server Jeffrey seemed a bit nervous, but he was friendly and attentive. A large cafe with no clean coffee cups, so we got styrofoam(which I hate)!!??? The pick 4 for $9.50 seemed like a good deal. The breakfast was fair like a Denny's meal...my waffle came out cold, but the remake was good, the bacon was raw on my hubby's skillet, so they brought out extra sausage. We happened upon Butter Smith bc the restaurant we intended to go to wasn't open yet. Butter Smith looked fairly new and loved the inside. Very clean, neat, classic diner. Wait staff was prompt with initial greeting. The menu had every combination. You could want and most prices were at $10, and a lot of food. Husband ordered: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 bacon, hash browns and French toast $10.50. All was good, the only thing he could say about it was he likes his hash brown a little more crisp. I had: 2 eggs, 2sausage links and 2 flakey pancakes. So Delicious !!! Food came out quickly on nice warm white plates We don't drink coffee, but the ice tea was good as well! LOVED IT!! It is loud because you can hear the kitchen work, but it gives it that old school diner feel. Which I believe thats what they were going for. The ambiance adds to the experience in my opinion. We took our uncle and aunt there for their 40's anniversary. I presented my dog's service card to the host at check in. After we sat down, ordered and served with drinks, the manager kicked us out. It was very unprofessional and embarrassing while we are having our coffee. We should not be seated at check in and served if dog not welcome. read more

Butter and Smith is essentially Village Inn with new decor. Their menu is really similar and identical in some areas to Village Inn, and all they did was change the name on the outside and rebrand it as Butter Smith Kitchen and Pies. The food was just okay. The service was fine as well, but we got asked over 20 times if we were doing okay, which got old after awhile. Since they just opened, they're over staffed, and there's a bunch of waiters walking around asking you every minute if you need something. For some people, this could be a plus, but for us it was overkill and disruptive to our experience. The food really needs more attention in the back. The avocado on the toast was going brown and had too much onion in it. They also gave us dirty silverware, which was gross. I didn't feel the portions were very generous either. read more

Nope got my food replaced again another hair at this point didn't want no food. Manager didn't charge me for my food. My sister ordered a sandwich to go and this the what we get raw chicken sandwich. Let's just say this is crap. Can't believe u would serve this plus I just complain 2 times that there was hair in my food so you serve me raw chicken in my sandwich.
