I can't believe it took me this long to try this place! The food was fantastic--I had a great omelet, and my husband had the chilaquiles, which were juicy like they'd make them in Mexico City. The service from Benjamin was outstanding. We ordered coffee with oat milk, and he even steamed the milk--such a pleasant surprise. It was really good and so was the actual coffee from 2TEN beans. So the hours online are wrong. Brunch on Saturday starts at 9 currently. So we waited the 15 mins until they opened. When they did open the door, the staff in the back was loudly complaining about opening. We ordered our food and it did come out quickly. I got the grape salad which was a large portion and good. I will say the service was subpar the entire time and they're also wasn't good communication were they didn't really ask everyone if they wanted anything additionally. First time at Ripe. It's a cute little restaurant with a large wine selection and down home menu like roasted chicken, burgers, various salads, pasta, etc. There was a chicken cordon bleu sandwich on an online menu but I didn't see it on the restaurant menu. Our server happily offered to have the dish made. The chicken was nicely breaded and crispy. A slice of ham laid on the bun with a nice honey mustard sauce coating the chicken. Tender, crisp, and flavorful for sure. My girlfriend's lemon pasta was equally well prepared. Unfortunately, she was not feeling well and had to ask for her meal to be packed to go without eating much of it. Our server offered to pack our leftovers and included a free piece of cake as a thank you. What a nice gesture!!! Wow -- how have I allowed this review to go without a proper update since 2016. Ripe has become one of my fave spots and their burgers and salads are now some of the things I most crave when I'm back in town visiting. Their standouts to me are their poached pear salad. Probaly one of the cleanest salads that although may seem simple it's the quality of ingredients and those damn red wine soaked pears and the sweet pear balsamic dressing that elevate your salad. If I was living in town, I would probably have this at least twice a week. That's how much I love it. Top it off with a protein and you have a super health friendly meal that'll keep you full. I opt out of the toasted cashews due to allergens and swap the goat cheese for feta. Damn now I'm here craving a salad and I don't have immediate access to one. For my sweet tooth fanatics.... get their cheesecake. You won't be disappointed and you'll regret having to share with the table. read more

Ripe is quickly becoming a staple in the rotation of restaurants I eat at. Perfect for a nice, quiet night out on either a date or a family dinner. It is all too common of a trend for a restaurant to overly index on either high quality beef with lackluster pairings to keep the price down, or drowning out a cheaper beef with unnecessary and ill-fitting toppings. Ripe is one of the few places I've seen do a fantastic job of prioritizing balance. Well seasoned beef, cooked to order, and with delicious additions that complement but don't steal the show. The triple B burger was good and I'll be coming back for more. I was ushered to my seat the moment I walked through the door and our party of 3 were well attended to by our server Benjamin who did a great job walking us through the menu as well as giving a solid drink recommendation. The restaurant offers a nice rotation of specials throughout the week that I fully anticipate will hold up to the high bar they've established for themselves in my mind. It's worth a drive to visit and is also a good local spot to have in your neighborhood. Not too pricey either, especially compared to some of the places that have opened more recently. read more

Updated review of dessert. I didn't see a picture of the seasonal dessert so I wanted to post it. I just want to say that the chicken fried chicken I had today was juicy. Usually fried chicken like that taste dry. It wasn't and the mashed potatoes were good as well as the veggies. Good size portion not over whelming. The dessert was good. It pains me to write a review like this, so don't be fooled by the 4-stars, which represents the experience shared by my guests, but not me. Their food was all delicious and prepared as ordered, and served by a polished, professional, and courteous server. Ripe is comfortable, and its ambience is casual and stylish without being over-the top. I wish I could say the same for my order, which I refused and didn't place an alternate order. I've been enjoying ripe for many years, since before the current ownership acquired it from its founders--a brother and sister team who were always onsite--one, the other, or both. When ownership/management is present, bad customer experiences seem to happen infrequently. On this occasion, two evenings ago, I ordered a burger medium well. Ripe's burgers are GREAT. A thick, 1/2 lb of patty ground beef served on a brioche bun, with inventive toppings if you want them. My burger came with bacon, torreados, and pepperjack cheese. Unfortunately, my guests, all who ordered salmon (excellent) received their orders first, followed by around a short, 5-minute (not too long) delay for my burger. When by burger was delivered, it looked great, but when I cut it in half to avoid making a mess of such a large burger, I discovered a cold-red center, extending outward towards the edge of the burger. I detest rare burgers--and they're unsafe to consume as well. It was a quick 5-minutes before the server came back around asking everyone if they were enjoying their dinner and everyone replied yes, but I asked if she could take my rare burger back. She agreed it was way too rare and offered to bring it back, but I politely refused, as ten minutes had gone by and everyone else was actually nearly finished enjoying their salmon. Folks, we have a meat thermometer at our house and every restaurant does, too. I'm not picky. When I order a burger medium-well, I'm happy if it comes out medium, medium-well, or well-done. I'm really disappointed if anywhere in the inside it's cold and red (not pink--bright red and raw in the middle). Personally, I prefer medium, but too often, the burger is under cooked, so avoid that by ordering medium well. My strategy fails completely when the cook is untrained, inexperienced, or too lazy to test the temperature of a 2-inch thick piece of beef. A total fail, I left hungry because I don't re-order. I've seen Road Trip and what happens when you insult the cook by returning his/her masterpiece. read more

My roommate works at this restaurant and my girlfriend used to work here so Ripe is something that consistently comes up in my life regardless if I want it to lol. Ripe is a solid family/friend hangout type place that ranges between sort of nice and casual. Food: $$ Ripe's food in my opinion is always just shy of greatness. I've had their eggs Benny, one of their burgers, and recently their pesto shrimp pasta and every single dish just seems like it's missing something. They are delicious, no doubt, but I constantly have this question in my mind of, "what could they have added to really let this dish explode." With this is mind, all of their food is pretty good with fresh tasting ingredients and different dishes, but I always leave feeling like I wanted more. Atmosphere: There are plenty of tables in the restaurant but there is also an outdoor seating area that allows more. This is a restaurant that I feel I would much prefer eating inside because the inside is just nicer than the somewhat claustrophobic outdoor area. The wall when you walk in is lined with available wine and the wall decor is nice with a black and mural type art on it. Service: I always appreciate the servers at Ripe because I've always had someone who genuinely seems like they care about my dining experience and that I get the best food for the day. We went for an evening workout and were starving but also wanted a glass of good wine, so we found Ripe for the first time! What a find! We sat outside on their lovely patio and had such a good post workout bliss. Jesus was one of the best servers we've ever had in el paso and beyond. He was perfectly attentive but also gave great suggestions and in general his brightness and joy for the work he was doing showed. The whole staff seemed happy and ready to help and that always shows good leadership. I dont want to eat at a place where the leadership makes the staff miserable. But Ripe seems to really have something good going. Pretty darn good wine list! And wine Wednesdays you can get really excellent bottles half off! The fooooooood! The menu was so unique and not like every other menu. It was hard to pick but I got the asparagus ravioli. It probably ruined my workout but I didn't care. Worth it! The sauce was velvety, the pasta was delicious and the veggies were not.overcooked and truly added to the dish. My wife got the black bean and while her fav is still Joe Vinneys, she really enjoyed this one. The fries are her new favorite in town. We ate here yesterday for brunch and ordered our favorites, the Bacon Torreado Burger and Triple Cheese BLTA. While the mains were okay, both my sweet potatoes and my wife's homemade chips were cold. We also ordered a grilled cheese off the kids menu. This plate was an adult size grilled cheese with a full plate of fries. Unfortunately these were cold also and I would rate the grilled cheese as below average. Honestly, I felt discriminated by this restaurant because "this is a neighborhood restaurant" and I'm not from the neighborhood. I was visiting a friend who moved back to El Paso. She grew up in EP, and had been back for about 5 months. We came here because she loved the food, service, and drinks. She goes there frequently with her family. We arrived and were sat down immediately by the host/hostess. We got our server, Carlos, and he seemed rush. My friend knew what she wanted to drink. Carlos asked for her ID. My friend and I are well above the age of 21. He apparently kept angling the ID, eventually wrote a bunch of stuff down, gave her ID back, and left. Not a word was said. He came back. We were ready to order and I was also ready to order my drink. He asked for my ID. Looked at it; angled it. Went away. Came back and said he couldn't serve us. The reason: They just got their liquor license and they can't serve anyone that doesn't have a TX ID. I stayed quiet to hear his explanations as my friend questioned him. They are a "neighborhood restaurant" and I guess we shouldn't have come bc we aren't from there. My friend said she's come multiple times and ordered drinks. He couldn't provide a good response. When she told him she just moved there, his response to her was "get a TX ID." Now, they can say it's based on geography, but a part of me believes it was cuz I'm a different type of "brown" person. He was okay to serve my friend a drink until I ordered one. We left. He did nothing to correct the situation. We went to another restaurant that accepted our IDs and even gave us an free drink on the house for the trouble we experienced at another restaurant! This place was amazing 10 years ago. Their food quality has been declining the past 5 years! Today was a "potatoes will be arriving a bit late" ; ha, we never got them! My daughter's salmon lox looked depressing, no tomatoes and had salmon on just one bagel? If they are going to serve it open face; then both sides need the filling! The biscuits now have been cut in 4th's. They look tiny and are not appealing at all! I'm all honesty... The menu needs to get revamped and they need to begin offering seasonal menus! This used to be one of my favorites, but things have gone downhill. First off, the hostess tells us it'll be a 15-minute wait. No problem until I see numerous unoccupied tables, and she's bussing and sweeping after previous customers. We're seated and asked about the biscuits served to everyone. Ours came: dry, hard, and brittle-- nothing like warm and tasty that I've had before. Then came Eggs Benedict They were fine, except for the ham. I had a hard time finding meat that wasn't just greasy fat. Came with coworkers after we got off, but unfortunately we missed their happy hour. My friend ordered a Margarita which was THE MOST frozen marg I'd ever seen. And even after like 2 hours, the center was still frozen. The ambiance is very modern and relaxed. Great place for all groups and ages. Plenty of parking in the lot out front, so no worry with that. We were seated right away and I like that even though the plates are big and there was three of us at the table, we still had room to move plates around. We all shared our food. I got the black bean veggie burger without a bun and a salad for my side. The construction of my bunless burger was really pretty, and it actually tasted super good! It was an interesting combination of flavors. The greek Salad with shrimp and tuna was HUGE! Tuna was seared to perfection. The shrimp in the tacos and in the salad were really just OK. The flavors were nothing unique and nothing to write home about. I feel like the two things that were the hits were their sweet potato fries and the Brussel sprouts! The fries were as perfect as they were going to get - fresh, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, perfectly seasoned and uniform. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and didn't have a hard time getting a table for 3. Lots of couples and families there on date night. They do not have alcohol, but they do have wine based cocktails and lots of sweeter wines. I had the poached pear chicken sandwich with the ripe house salad on the side. The sandwich needed an extra kick for more flavor and spice, so i added some garlic herb Mayo and it definitely kicked it up. I was excited about the rolled oats, and pecans as ingredients mixed with beans and quinoa, but really it was a black bean burger, like I had to sit there and think and look for the other ingredients. The chipotle sauce didn't make enough of a presence I asked what other sauces were available because it was a bit dry. I came on a Tuesday night which I didn't know was $9 burger night so that's fun. I sat by myself, chatted and connected with my server she was so friendly. I was visiting El Paso so she also recommended things to do, where else to eat especially when I do attempt to vegan whenever possible. First time here! Me and the teenagers decided to try it out and we are glad we did. Place was crowded but we had no problem getting a table quickly. The menu is versatile and fun. They offer quite a few vegetarian items! But first, MIMOSAs! I usually opt for the savory dishes but today I decided to venture to the sweet side of life and got pancakes! Pancakes with coconut and pineapples with a side of fresh fruit since I don't eat meat. One of my pancakes was a little on the burnt side but I ate it nonetheless. The number one thing Ripe has going for them is consistency. I've yet to order a dish that I didn't like and the service here is top notch! My favorite dishes so far have been the pecan crusted salmon and lemon basil ravioli. My husband loves their NY Strip and gouda mashed potatoes as well as the Grape Steak salad.
