I can't even. It was fate, y'all. We've been driving cross country and I've been sooooo excited for all the food. Yelping left and right. And then--it happened. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and empty gas/stomach. The goal wasn't to eat at a gas station. I'm MUCH too food pretentious for that. But, after paying for our gas, I couldn't help but notice the wood smoke coming out of the kitchen. Dear Lord, thank you for Button's BBQ and Nate, (who looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head when I asked him what to order.) Nate--"Ummmm. The Philly cheese steak." We were heading home to Rhode Island from Illinois. After being on the road for a while we decided to see what was close by to eat. Buttons showed up so we tried it out! What a great spot, located in a truck stop and market. Menu had items for everyone in our group. Steak sandwich was outstanding. Italian grinder was huge. And the Turkey Melt was great. We had been on the road for four hours and we said "fuck it anything will do" so we went to this side of the road gas station restaurant that you paid for at the gas station cashier expecting minimal. Holy. Shit. Was I wrong. This place was amazing. Fantastic service but the gold star goes to the food. In house smoked pulled pork, made to order burgers, a large breakfast Sammy section to match any hour of the day. This was one of the best burgers I have ever had. So, I'm well on my way home to Georgia, when I realize I'm low on gas, and hungry, to boot. Noticing a sign for Button's Bar-B-Que, I tap the breaks and bear right, off the highway. At the far end of the plaza, behind the gas pumps, next to the convenience store, there was Buttons. It was hard not the chuckle at the sign on the front door, right next to the Corona beer sign, that stated "if you look impaired, we will not serve you". So, you would think that stopping at a BBQ place, specifically because I wanted BBQ, that I would order just that; but, no. Under the BBQ selections, the menu stated "protiens", leaving me to ponder what, exactly, was meant. Noticing a line of folks wearing hard hats and safety vests was forming behind me, and that it was noon, I dropped my line of thought and ordered the Philly Cheese stake, lest I deprive someone of their lunch break. And, I'm glad I did. The food was made to order in less than ten minutes. When my number was called, I was handed two take out boxes, promting me to question If my order was correct. The box on top was filled was golden brown, skin on fries that were packed with that earthy potato flavor, that is the hallmark of great fries. No castsup required (ok, I used catsup anyway; my bad). The second box was filled with both halves of my Philly cheesesteak. Yes, once again I had left my phone in the car, so, no pictures; and yes, I know, that's not how to make it to the Yelp elite. But, I digress. It was hard not to notice just how much shaved steak was there. The soft warm roll did a great job of holding everything together, in spite of being jam packed with the most flavorable, juicy, meat I've had on a Philly in quite some time, topped lightly with sweet yellow and red bell peppers and mushroomz and plenty of american cheese, hidden in between. Really good food! It tasted fresh and was made with quality ingredients. I ordered the cheesesteak, which came with fries and a few pickle chips; I get cheesesteaks a lot when I'm on the road, and this was one of the my all time favorites. I didn't realize my sandwich came with fries and pickles (I don't think it was clear on the menu; my husband got a burger and thought the same), so we got a side of mac and cheese to share and it was also really good. Wow! What a little great truck stop! It's been remodeled back in Dec '16! We were hungry before getting to Harrisburg so we pulled in Bobtail. Enuf parking and fuel if you need. I ordered a Reuben and it came with chips. Dagwood Reuben on marble with warm chips that they season.. yummy!! The boy was hungry and ordered an all American hotdog & chef salad was on on special 7.95. Wow he had meat in every bite he said it was huge. He could have just eaten that!! Well.... We stopped at Buttons for a late lunch on a Monday in July (at 3:00), and they were closed for the day! However, they did have prepared salads and sandwiches in a cooler and we purchased a couple of them. They were tasty enough. We stumbled upon this gem at a park and ride in the middle of nowhere. We knew we had to eat here when it was 10° outside and the cook was slow cooking pork on the grill. The smell was phenomenal. We stopped in and they had a boat load of specials - all under $10 and included a side of fresh cut fries. I got the cheese steak and my husband got the buffalo chicken wrap. I tried the restaurant last night for the first time. I had a tuna melt. It was huge, I couldn't finish the whole sandwich. It came with fries and pickles. The food was fresh and homemade. Awesome burger! Stopped in here on my way thru the area on work travel and there place was called buttons burgers so I figured... Give her one of the burgers. I ordered it with cheese, LTO and I was offered fresh cut fries or fresh cut chips. I opted for the chips because homeade potato chips rock and these for for sure... and they were hot fresh out of the fryer. Perfectly seasoned so tasty. But let's get back to the main event. The burger presented awesome... On a seeded bun... Both black and regular sesame seeds. Love at first sight. I bit into this burger and it was perfectly cooked (a little pink in the middle just the way I like it) and well seasoned and it tasted great. The LTO was super fresh and the roll didnt fall apart as I ate over my lap driving down the road. And this chips.... Still warm and crispy and yummy. Stop here if you are nearby or passing through. Hate having to post this. My husband and I pass through once or twice a month and have always stopped here specifically for what used to be the best chicken salad sandwich in the lower 48. Stopped here this time through, got my sandwich back to the truck, only to find out I had two slices of bread with a TEASPOON of canned chicken meat plopped in the center of the bread with a hint of mayo. We were so stunned and disappointed that what we looked forward to was no more. Unfortunate that great things are murdered by greed or laziness. We won't be back! ( crying face ) read more

Great food, friendly staff, and very clean. I had a burger and my significant other had a grilled cheese. Our food was fresh, hot, and delicious. The only thing that kept it from getting a 5 star rating is that all burgers are cooked well, no choice for rare or medium. Don't get me wrong the burger was tasty.
