Andrew met my husband and I before we moved into our newly built home for window dressings as the developers didn't include it with the sale so we went outside of their contractors. He was really helpful in making a decision and we decided to go with shutters and blinds. Shauna's customer service is so impeccable. I don't think I ever waited more than 5 minutes for a response from her. We changed our minds on a couple of the shades and wanted to go with shutters and they changed them out, no problem. Gentry did the installation and was so fast and so efficient. That family has that company running to a tee! We purchased our blinds thru Costco, supposedly the blinds had a lifetime warranty. After about a year three of the blinds mechanism malfunctioned. We called the Costco representative and found that the lifetime warranty applies only to the material. The Costco rep referred us to a third party who handles repairs, Buxton Blinds was the place. They also do work for Home Depot and I believe LOWES. Within three days Buxton people came to the house and took the not working blinds for repair. In a week and a half the blinds were ready for reinstallation. Buxton people were knowledable and professional. Pricing was reasonable. Next time, we will skip Costco and go directly to Buxton. read more

This review is long overdue like the Norman shutters Buxton Blinds installed in my home. I ordered shutters in 2020 and was given a 6-8 week estimate (it used to take 2 weeks, I was told, but now it's 6-8 weeks due to COVID). I paid upfront in full (which was probably my mistake). My last set of shutters (the bedroom ones) was installed a full year after my order. Throughout this process, I followed up with Buxton Blinds a few days after each new date that they gave me. Every single time they treated me like I was a crazy person bothering them - hadn't I heard about COVID? There's another shipment coming in in x weeks - my order will surely be on it! When we were approaching the 1-year mark, Buxton decided it might actually be time for them to do something, so they emailed Norman... who went and looked for my order... and then actually fulfilled it. Buxton installed the last custom shutters, one of which did not fit. When they realized this, they probably removed it from its original spot and installed it higher up, which damaged my window, in addition to leaving an odd-looking gap in the wrong spot. Andrew came to take a look and said his staff has never left anything like this behind before. He said he would contact Norman about getting a shutter that fits. It's now been another year since Andrew made his last promise and stopped responding to my messages. So much for the lifetime warranty. read more

I've never ordered blinds before so I didn't know what to expect but knew I wanted to go with a local company and bonus that it is family owned! The consultation was wonderful and they are the opposite of pushy in terms of sales. Warm, knowledgeable, matter of fact, and a great combo of understanding what I wanted while also guiding me into what might work best and why. I absolutely loved the way they came out and they look beautiful and are functional and easy to use. I also had long been trying to figure out how to keep our den open but create privacy for when we have additional guests and a black out blind that I could pull down as a door is just fantastic! The installation went great and I was kept up to date throughout the whole process, which felt good. I have a custom blind that needed to repair. It's floor to ceiling and 25 feet horizontally. One piece. The motor and roller were catching on the screen and causing small tears. Called 6-7 different blind companies, and upon inspection, they all declined to service it. Some of them had never even seen a blind like this before. Then I called Buxton. Buxton estimate guy (Andrew) thought through some of the possible root causes and figured out how we could fix it. Said it would cost me X dollars. Buxton repair guy (Gentry) came to repair it at the scheduled time and realized that what Andrew and I had thought was the solution, was not. Gentry figured out another solution, a very creative solution, a very effective solution. He fixed it in under 60 minutes with my help. They charge me 25% of what they quoted because the repair went a lot faster than expected... 25%. These guys know what they're talking about. They know what they're doing. They are super organized. Poor customer service. Tilt bar was picked up in March to fix but it's already July and never been done. Now, I was told they will just returned it because there's delay from manufacturers. These tilt bars was sent to manufacturers to order, really. All they need to do is to just fix and attached it to my shutter. Poor customer service. One of the most awful experiences I've ever had with a contractor. Sadly this company installs blinds bought at Costco. My experience was so bad I will never order blinds from Costco again. I have wooden shutters on a large bay view living room window that have several broken louvers and tilt rods. This morning Andrew Installed the last of our faux wood blinds. Initially we only replaced a few of the blinds, but we were very impressed with the quality and the service, so we ended up replacing almost all of our blinds. The turn time is slow but we were not in a hurry. Very fair pricing. There is no written up quotes, so I had to take notes during the appointment. We recently purchased a new home and used Buxton Blinds for window coverings in our entire house. The whole experience was great! It is a family-owned business and Andrew, the owner, came over three times to answer questions and show us samples before we made our decision. He met with us at times that were convenient for us, early evenings and even once on a Saturday. He was very laid back, not a pushy salesperson. I never once felt like he had an ulterior motive when he explained the different options. Other companies we got quotes from either demanded a deposit at the consultation then claimed they would beat any price or gave us a price then offered a discount at the end. Andrew did neither. He gave us his best price upfront and it was the best price we could find, he was very reasonable. He gave us time to think and we decided on the composite Norman Shutters. Andrew's son installed the shutters. He worked very quietly, respectfully, and quickly. He did a great job, they look amazing! There were a few minor adjustments that were needed on some of the windows, the shutters would shut too tightly or too loosely but Andrew and his son came by and fixed everything until we were happy with how they all opened and shut. Last year I was looking for a blinds company to install shutters in my home, and contacted several businesses. Buxton Blinds was one of them, and I can't begin to describe how fortunate I was to have chosen them. Most of the companies I contacted, I contacted and found on the internet. Buxton Blinds had done the blinds for another home in the development and had a sign in front of their home. I figured I should give them a shot. The owner himself came that same day, on a weekend, and gave me a quote that was significantly more affordable than the other bids while offering higher quality shutters than the competitors. Then on the day he gave me the quote he came back and installed temporary blinds at no additional cost! Unheard of. A few weeks later the shutters arrived and were professionally installed by Gentry, one of the owner's sons, and another employee. This is a family business, you see. He installed the window coverings and for every appointment Buxton Blinds has been on time to the minute. When they say they'll be there, they're there - which is refreshing in this day and age. The shutters look just as beautiful today as they did a year ago, and when I lost the remote to one of our blinds, they sent me a new one, and when it needed to be reset at the source with a big ladder, came out and did it for me the very next day. Purchased our smart motorized blinds back in February before the pandemic. We decided to go with this company based on the reviews and interaction before purchasing. The transaction and purchasing experience was smooth. The product came at the estimated time but once the installation was compete, we encountered some issues that are still not resolved. We Specifically chose smart blinds to link to our Alexa. We spoke with the representatives in hopes that they have instructions on connecting them. They didn't offer to come back out and troubleshoot our product, but instead they said that it could be a software issue. After a couple months gone by we noticed that the blinds were not aligned properly when closing, but this was during the pandemic. They haven't fixed the connectivity issue yet and stated that due to the stay at home orders they are unable to go into homes. We reached out to them recently and addressed our issues but still no return call back. It is such a disappointment after investing a lot of money into their product and giving them a business opportunity, but their service doesn't meet up to the expectations. It seems as if after a sale, the level of customer service is no longer there. read more
