However, I was offered about $51 per gram for my 14k gold, which ended up being significantly lower than quotes I received elsewhere afterward. When I called ahead, I was told they typically pay around 60-70% of the gold's value depending on the piece, which sounded fair. Unfortunately, the actual offer felt much lower than expected. Buy Sell Loan's Millbrae branch (yes, this location is now part of larger Pawn Shop network) is a nice place to stop in for. There are a lot of security measures in place, and lots of people available to help whether you are buying and selling. In my personal experience, they offer fair value for the services. I admit I was a little scared stopping by after reading other reviews, but as I was researching their other branches, I see a lot of reviews are either 5 stars or 1 star, and so I wanted to stop by and see how things were for myself. I was treated graciously, and spent a few minutes talking with the staff about different items and options for buying and sellling. Parking was easy to find right there on Broadway, and as luck would have it, I saw a pretty heavy police presence in the area--I even ended up parking next to police vehicle. I got a note from the owner but if u read it he is just making an excuse for low balling me on silver that is 90% pure. I got a good deal on the bullion in bars just 3 days before but buying coins is not what they want, yet they are selling the same coins for 80 to 125 dollars apiece. I have heard this before from a jewelry shop in Burlingame too. When the price is high they won't touch it because they are scared it will go down so they are willing to pay u nothing instead of a fair price u can not have it both ways I don't appreciate how one sided it seems to be. Silver is silver and gold is gold unless u have to melt it down and than u buy it at less than value u don't offer someone 75% less than what it is worth. It's better to tell someone sorry not buying today, instead of insulting the customer unless u want to take advantage of that person which is what will happen to someone who must have the funds if they are on strike or most pay rent. Than what u are doing is stealing from that person instead of helping them. Lots of people would sell a piece of silver for only 25% of value if they have to get cash fast. I am just lucky I don't need the money and if I knew they would offer me a fair price one day and try to steal my silver the next I would never have sold them the silver bars in first place. Trying to explain why u are ok with stealing from customers is not quite the same as just saying no thanks, I don't want to insult u will a terrible offer. I have a bad taste in my mouth, now and will most likely never come back. Maybe I am wrong? I just walked out of this pawn shop feeling completely disrespected, humiliated, and deeply aware that racism is alive and well behind their counter. This place is a joke. Brought in some Tiffany jewelry to sell, and the Latina woman is arguing with me, telling me a couple pieces are not Tiffany. I told her she was incorrect as one of the pieces was the very first piece I ever bought from a Tiffany's store. She apparently couldn't read "Tiffany" on the jewelry. When she finally was able to, she looked on eBay and said I can give you $40 for it. A $650 bracelet she was offering me $40. Obviously, I will take my jewelry elsewhere. Don't take your jewelry here unless you wanna get ripped off. read more

In 1986, the owner cheated me when I asked for an appraisal. I was 15 and naive. I have remembered this experience since then. It has made me a better person by learning through the experience and contemplation of what happened. Years later when I learned he has a son my age, I was astonished. It just shows the lack of ethics and integrity on his part. Later when we confronted him with what he had done, he immediately started sweating on the forehead and his hands started to shake. This store used to be called Numis and carried a lot of integrity. I have purchased both coins and jewelry in the past and always been satisfied. I recently brought in a favorite ring that had lost a diamond and asked if the diamond could be replaced. They checked with their jeweler and said that for $300 the work could be completed. When I picked up the finished piece, it looked sloppy. I took it home to sit with it and then compared it to a picture I had of my ring when I first got it. My ring is ruined and when I asked for them to fix it the response was that the diamond was replaced as I asked. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY PRIZED PIECE OF JEWELRY TO BE REPAIRED THROUGH THEM.
