After the sale, Joe spent an hour with me trying on and discussing the inner-workings of Grand Seikos, Breitlings and cool offerings from other brands. He is a true watch enthusiast, extremely knowledgable and passionate about horology. Like many watch nerds, he's also a car guy (ask him about his Porsche past). Joe is not your average person in sales. He elevates his craft to an art form and made the experience deeply enjoyable. One of the best hours of watch talk I've experienced in years - and I've collected and talked to anyone who will listen to me about watches for nearly 30 years. Doesn't hurt that the new Topper Store is truly gorgeous. They also have a very nice modern bar, which thankfully, didn't come into play yesterday or I might have also bought a Grand Seiko that was singing to me. Skip CH and Shreve. They're fine and I've patronized both in the past (and in the Bay Area, you've gotta go to Shreve for Rolex and play the ol' game, which I reluctantly continue to do like many of us). But trust me on Topper if you want something really cool. It's an outstanding business and really worth the visit. Insanely complete offerings for all the many brands they carry (e.g., Blancpain, GS, Glashutte, Parmigiani, Breitling, Zenith, Omega, etc.). You'll see something that you weren't fully aware of and it'll blow your mind. And the people there are really top-notch. Zero sales pressure like at most places. I went in today to buy a Hamilton field watch. The retired Hayward Officer helped me and he was totally helpful. The thing was I needed to finance the watch. The finance lady, not sure of her name but had blue hair, was terrible. She made me feel like I was wasting her time, she was very rude. When my card "declined" which it has never declined, she told me that I needed to call my card company to figure it out. When I told her I'd do that another time, it was just an, "ok" and nothing else. I was so upset. But it's fine. I bought more expensive watch the same day elsewhere with the same card. This review is entirely regarding the service and processing at this establishment. I visited and purchased a Grand Seiko on March 20, 2026. The red-haired gentleman (I do not recall his name, because other than the lack of service, this was an unremarkable experience) assisting me did not introduce himself/ask my name, offer a refreshment, or really any assistance other than standing near me awkwardly until I swiped my card and purchased the watch. It was almost as if he assumed I was wasting his time? I had to proactively ask him about care, setting, etc. basic things you would expect a proper salesman to discuss with you during a purchase of a nice timepiece. On the contrary, after an awkward handshake and offer for a beverage when I had already been in front of him for approximately 20 minutes, I had to watch him clumsily fumble through processing. I was with my girlfriend, who has no experience in stores like this. She even related the employee seemed new. Additionally, he had an awkward interaction with another salesman where the other employee literally told him he had been warned about "rushing" processes. This other associate was flat and short with the customer he was processing, but perhaps this is how the Friday afternoon crew is trained to handle customers. The vibe in the store was underwhelming compared to other places I've visited. I only purchased the watch here because I was in town for my birthday and wanted it for dinner in the city afterwards, but moving forward, I will be continuing to purchase at Davidson & Licht in Walnut Creek and Heller in San Ramon for proper customer service/atmosphere. read more

First world problems not really knowing which I had wanted and Ron, who is the manager running the Omega Boutique was very patient and helpful. There was no pressure to buy and he took the time to let you look at each piece. He answered any questions I've had and offered some of his opinions that made it even harder to choose. In the end, I came back another day deciding I wanted the Speedmaster and last mins decided I wanted the Seamaster, still anticipating to purchase the Speedmaster another time. Despite the Seamaster being cheaper there was no indifference with service. He took great care from start to finish, ensuring I'm satisfied with my purchase. The crown fell off of my Oris TT1 Diver watch so took it in for service. The watch was then shipped to Oris service center on east coast and they had it for a little under a year. When sent back, Topper Jewelers proactively checked the watch noted that it was still not working properly so they sent in back to the service center. Not great that Oris held on to the watch for almost a year and definitely does not reflect well on Oris that they would ship it back still not fixed properly (after a $ 700 service). When received back it worked for about 2 months and then two hands fell off the watch and it stopped working. On taking it back it was sent back to Oris and they did not want to fix the watch claiming it was not something they were responsible for. This honestly really annoyed me and I will NEVER buy another ORIS after this experience BUT I want to commend Topper Jewelers as they stepped up and they did the right thing (something Oris should have) and took it upon themselves to fix my watch which I now have back. The owners of this business have been nothing but kind, honest and trustworthy with me through this long and frustrating experience and they definitely will have my customer loyality going forward. read more

Went to Toppers looking for a specific watch. I'm fairly new the automatic watch game, mainly because I've always been a techie Apple Watch kinda guy. I own about 4 automatic watches and was interested in picking up a Hamilton Jazzmaster. I've been eyeing this watch for awhile and found a model I was very interested in. I met up with Kevin and had the best experience picking up this piece. It was a few minutes before close of store and at no point did I feel I was being rushed. Even met one of the owners since my buddy had been with me and introduced me to him. I have been to several other watch stores before buying my watch here and honestly felt kinda like that movie pretty women with Julia Roberts. If you're not dressed appropriately, "I'm a sweats kinda guy", they don't always seem to take you very serious. At Toppers's they never seemed judgmental and were very professional. I had taken it to a jeweler in San Francisco, Elite Fine Jewelry, who took 5 days to adjust my watch. And didn't do it correctly. They said the half links could not be removed. Leaving me with a slightly too large watch. I was in Burlingame and decided to see if Topper could assist. When I walked into the stor I was warming greeted, offered a beverage, and introduced to an associate (I'm terrible with names and can't remember hers) who could assist me. We confirmed that I needed a half link removed which the associate said would not be a problem. 5-10 minutes later the watch was back on my wrist with the half link removed! The watch collection is okay. If you're looking for Omega, Glashutte or something more reasonable, they have a good collection. However, the service is pretty bad and very exclusionary and discriminatory. I sent an email for an appointment, but didn't hear back. I was assigned to a newer agent who didn't know a lot of the finer details of the timepieces or various models, he had to keep looking at his phone and the brands website. And then there was this weird rule of only 2 watches at a time, so it took ages to take the plastic cover off each watch and then wrap it back up, while I essentially kept waiting. When I wanted to go to another brand, I was repeatedly pointed towards that area and told to ask for X, but that person was never there. I waited 5-7 minutes each time and almost walked out of the store twice, since no one seemed interested in showing me the timepieces. Eventually, an hour later when it was about to close, I noticed every else had been served a nice drink, champagne or whisky. I asked if it was part of a club and they said it's for all visitors, oh, did I want one? Not a great experience feeling brushed off over and over. I have been to many other luxury watch stores across the Bay Area, won't be going back to such a discriminatory store. read more

There is an adage: Buy the dealer, not the watch. This is absolutely true if you are looking to buy a luxury watch. You might able to save a little money finding the watch online, but as I've learned the hard way, you get what you pay for. Once I had decided that I wanted an Oris, I went to the only Authorized Dealer near me: Topper. I've gone to them in the past to service other watches and knew they provided excellent service. I spoke with Jay and she was so helpful (and patient) in showing me different models and sizes. Watches look different when seen up close and I wanted to me sure which look best. This cannot really be accomplished by viewing images online. Luckily, there was a watch event that night and she invited me It was very cool and after speaking with an Oris representative and I sold. Everyone was so nice and I was so glad to have been invited. Kudos the folks at Topper for providing food & drink (nice touch). After speaking with Sandy the manager--she offered me a great price--I knew there was nowhere else that I would go. One day, years ago, me, my parents, and my wife were walking around Burlingame when we noticed a shop with beautiful watches. We peaked in and met Russ. He was very courteous and we didn't feel any pressure to purchase anything but he was kind enough to show us around and let us try several of their beautiful pieces. Fast-forward a few years, and I paid the shop a visit when I was thinking about purchasing a new watch. I couldn't believe it, Russ still remembered me and my parents, and even our conversations from way back then. It just highlights one of the best parts of Toppers, their customer service is out of this world. I don't say this, because they are good at selling watches, in fact, they have never pressured me to purchase anything, I say this, because they are great people, and seem like they genuinely care about their customers. Beyond their great service, they have a fantastic watch selection with competitive pricing. You'll find a wide range of watches for a variety of budgets and price points. They are also an Omega authorized dealer. Though I don't have an Omega (yet), it's good to know that when the day comes, I can bring it here for repairs and service. Went recently based on the excellent reviews wanting to check out the variety of watches and possibly get some watches serviced. I looked around a bit and then inquired about getting some battery changed for a couple of vintage quartz seikos and two high accuracy quartz grand seikos. The guy said the battery change would be $125 each for the grand seikos and a reasonable $20 (I think) for the other watches. I passed and my local jeweler charged me $12 per watch for all of them. Could've been an honest mistake, but it would've been a costly mistake for me. read more

We've taken my husband's Omega Seamaster in twice- once for resizing and the second time for a mechanical issue with a jammed clasp. Both times Topper provided seamless, quick, and top notch customer service and care. Having tried the CH Omega boutique closer to where we live, the service has been night and day. We would much rather drive an extra 45 minutes to do business with Topper. Highly recommend for any and all Omega needs. read more

This is my second time in dealing with Topper Fine Jewelers, and I'm pleased to say that my expectations were exceeded on both occasions! First, some general tips and observations: 1. Call ahead and book an appointment! I did so both times, and was glad I did, as there were several other customers present; I hear it gets especially crowded on weekends and during midday. To avoid waiting (though that wouldn't be so bad either, as there is plenty of inventory to peruse while doing so) I would definitely call and try to line up a dedicated time with a person. 2. Topper is located on a busy street, so if you can't find parking out front, there are some some shopping plazas with parking lots a block or two away that may help in that regard. 3. Topper is pet-friendly! Many of the staff have dogs and cats themselves, so I would call ahead and see if you can bring your furry friend of choice on a little field trip into the Topper showroom. As if one needed another excuse to visit a watch and jewelry store... :) Now, onto the review itself. The first time I went in I was looking for an extra link for a watch bracelet, and Topper had several in stock. I was able to come in on a Saturday, and they were able to install it for me while I waited. I was impressed by the atmosphered, and--while Topper is an Authorized Dealer for many prestigious brands, and there were clearly other Customers making larger purchases at that time--I didn't feel that there was any lack of attention or level of service towards me. During my second visit, I had been in the market for a watch for some time to celebrate a professional milestone, when I saw some great deals on their pre-owned watch page. I called ahead to order yet another bracelet link, as well as to arrange to try on a few watches in person. I was able to have a link installed while looking over a few watch options in a friendly, no-pressure environment. I had a specific piece in mind, but after trying a few options, left with another one. As many have said, you shouldn't judge a watch until you've worn it, and this was definitely the case here. As before, there were quite a number of people in the store, including those who seemed to be purchasing jewelry for engagements and weddings, but I never felt rushed or pressed for time, and all of my questions were fully answered. Unlike other dealers, Topper has a 1-year warranty on their pre-owned pieces, so I feel a lot more confident in purchasing from them. I also learned Topper has an in-house watchmaker, and am excited to have a local source for watch servicing and repairs. I have mixed feelings in writing this review. I'm extremely happy with my experience with Topper, and highly recommend them. Simultaneously, I will need to be disciplined and not partake in all of the awesome deals, and am a little worried that Topper will only become more and more well-known. Regardless, I'm very optimistic that Topper will maintain its level of service and integrity (I doubt it would have stayed in business since 1940 if that wasn't the case), and look forward to additional visits there in the future. read more
