This was our second visit to Velchoff's. We loved the fries last time so we had to come back to try…read moretheir other menu items. We got hungry after running errands so went out for dinner this Thursday around 6pm, parked on the street (free parking), and seated immediately by a friendly hostess. We chose to eat indoors since it was hot out (90's) so we sat at table 1 for the high top seats to accommodate my husband's height. There were around 5 other tables occupied and the rest of the dining area was empty. Our server was Boo and she had a delightfully bubbly personality, letting us know the specials and local origins of the food. We ordered Coke no ice, ginger ale no ice, cajun fries no bacon, well-done Swamp Burger, buffalo chicken bites, and a mahi mahi fish basket. My husband decided to use their restroom, which interestingly enough, are located outside around the corner of the building. I'm guessing this was done so the chefs in the cooking area (in the food truck) could use them easily. Our drinks arrived in minutes and appetizer (cajun fries) arrived around 10 minutes later. The rest of the food was brought out about 10 more minutes after that. The entire order was correct and made very well. Cajun fries were crispy with gooey cheese sauce and cajun spices. Fish basket was tasty and not fishy at all (yay!). My husband said his burger was good and not oily. All in all, cost was about $95 with a generous tip. We would come back for another date here, hopefully with Boo as our server again :)

Let me start with this: I do not like wine…read more I've tried for years. I've ordered it at dinners, events, girls' nights... and I've rarely even been able to finish a glass. That's how much I typically dislike the taste. My preference? Sweet and fruity. Think Jolly Rancher candy. The only exception I've ever found was Ice Wine, which is rarely carried in restaurants or wine bars. So when we attended a work event here, I was honestly looking forward to the company more than the drinks. But I decided to be honest with our waitress. I told her I don't like dry wine, I prefer sweet, and asked if she had any recommendations. She introduced me to Sangue Di Giuda (Italy -- fruity, light, medium sweet, low alcohol)... and for the first time ever, I found a wine I genuinely enjoyed. I could actually sip it without making a face. At around $8 a glass, it felt very reasonable. They also offer full bottles for purchase, which I love as an option if you find something you enjoy. Beyond the wine, the atmosphere makes this place special. It's warm, relaxed, and perfect for conversation. It feels elevated without being stuffy -- the kind of place where you can linger and talk without feeling rushed. So this review is for two groups: * Wine lovers looking for a great experience * And the "I don't like wine but I'm here anyway" crowd Be honest about what you like. Let the staff guide you. You might surprise yourself like I did. We'll absolutely be back -- and yes, I'll be ordering the same glass again. Bonus: It's located in a plaza with great dinner options, so you can easily turn it into a full night out. We grabbed Greek food next door afterwards, and there's also Bronx House pizza at the end of the plaza if that's more your vibe (both are delicious!). Makes planning easy.

The wine tastings are Thursday 5-7 and do not disappoint it's a great way to try new wines and they give you a discount on bottles of the wines sampled that night. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the music is just the right genre/volume so you are still able to chat and catch up while sipping. This is a great one stop shop for premier wines - we have come in a few times and told them our favorite notes/food it's going with and they help you find the perfect bottle. Highly recommend!
