First off, this place is tiny, I doubt they even seat 40, so reservations are a must. I admit, I wasn't aware of the policy and wandered in without one, late on a Thursday night, after a workshop at the Cummer. They were kind enough to let me grab a seat at the bar, but that was definitely a one off. As someone who is practically allergic to planning, having to make reservations, IN ADVANCE - GASP! may be difficult for me, but completely worth it I prefer to eat tapas style, because I enjoy having a few bites of a number of different things with varied flavors and textures, but since I was on my own, I was a bit limited with how much I could order and eat. I got the zanahorias, an absolute flavor bomb, with raw carrot ribbons, saturated in vinegar, olive oil and Moroccan spices, topped with sweet sultanas and crunchy almonds for contrast and the freshness of cilantro. Then I moved on to the tomato and cucumber salad, served over a dill whipped cheese, garnished with coucous, sprigs of dill and pickled onions. I think I should have had it come out first, because it was light and fresh and lovely, but didn't hold up to the intensity of flavors of the zahorias. I also would have liked just a little bit of sea salt to sprinkle over the tomatoes, but that's just a personal preference. Lastly, I got the shrimp pil-pil, which is usually offered as an octopus dish, but was being served with shrimp that night. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and I basically wanted an entire loaf of their homemade baguette to soak up all that garlicky oil, but my absolute favorite thing was that bright, lemony aioli. It reminded me of a dish that I had in Nice years ago and made me question why I don't put aioli on everything. I was too full to get dessert, but I'm looking forward to going back, hopefully with a group, so I can try more of the menu.

We started with drinks I ordered a Carpineto Rosso, Coconut Cocktail, Shirley Temple. Everything was great! Dishes ordered were a kids mac n cheese (homemade ) it was the best mac n cheese ever!! Best we have tried anywhere it was so buttery. Next dish was a kids chicken parmesan noodles looked to be pappardelle noodles. The chicken was cooked to perfection, suoer juicey. Perfect crust up top, sauce was delicious, not salty just super yummy. Noodles were wonderful. Lastly I got the sesame crusted tofu; it was perfect and had a crunch not soggy. It came on top of a bed of jasmine rice and onions. That was delicious. We ordered a creme brulee and I was happy they had coffee. Now for prices it was great! For food quality, portion size, only $75 with cash $78 with card. I love the cash method. Here are my scorings of everything: Carpineto Rosso 9/10 Coconut Mocktail 8/10 Shirley Temple 10/10 Kids Mac n Cheese 10/10 Kids Chicken Parmesan 10/10 Sesame Crusted Tofu 10/10 Creme Brulee 6/10 Coffee 10/10 Amazing spot I'll be back fo try some other menu items like the short rib over mashed potatoes I also love the kids menu it is priced well for portion and quality. The music was a loop of calypso with the most annoying, nightmare inducing AI video I've ever seen. But I digress... The Food... my wife had a Cuban sandwich special which came with a guava smoothie (?) she also ordered a side of Yuca Frita. The insides of the sandwich were good but totally overtaken by the bread which was dry and too crumbly. But the thing that sums up this visit was the Yuca Fries...$4 for (I kid you not) THREE yuca fries! Yes, I said 3 little yuca fries on a small plate for $4!!!! I had the Vaca Frita with Yuca con Mojo and grilled veggies. The meat was dry but the flavors of all were pretty good. Ended the meal with "Cuban" coffee which was NOT Cuban coffee but what tasted like unsweetened instant espresso. And a flaN which was the highlight of the meal. Good portion, fresh and delicious. I was told this place had been open for 2 years. Hard to believe. Maybe we came at a bad time but I wouldn't expect a place like this to last six months. Oh, the server was pleasant enough. I don't think she knew just how bad things are. I'd give this place 1 star if not for the fact the flavors were okay. Oh yes, almost forgot...the bill for this lackluster of an experience was $58 including tip!! (Did I mention we drank water? Drink prices were incredibly overpriced). And finally, a terrible case of heartburn accompanied me for the rest of the evening. My wife and I grew up in South Florida so we kinda know what this food should taste like. Lots of decent to good Cuban restaurants in northeast Florida. This is not one of them. Needless to say, we won't be back!

GOOD: Good size portions, reasonable prices, especially for cocktails. The same margarita would be $14 elsewhere. I had the "Wrap it up mango" tuna wrap with fried plaintains as my side. Plaintains were a big portion, so I took half home. The wrap was very tropical with fruit and sushi grade tuna. I ate it all, which was greedy of me, but I enjoyed it and felt overfull (my bad). Hubby had the clam and shrimp chowder and 2 apps. Very tender clams, thick texture and more shrimp flavor than clam, tasty for sure. Conch fritters good and in our top 5 (we get them everywhere and have been disappointed but now here). The wings were cooked perfectly, not heavy and crispy. The key lime flavor was good but too light. BAD: Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was super friendly and welcoming. The other servers seemed right on top of the other diners. 2 person tables are a bit too small if you order multiple appetizers. But nothing bad at all here.
