Wow. Nine of us in our party for dinner at Buzzard Bar. Not that crowded so we figured reasonable wait time. Mistaken. Over an hour to get food and add to that 5 of the 9 orders were wrong. The worst part was the waitress who was rude, surly, unfriendly, unattentive, and just plain lazy. At about the 45 minute mark waiting for food, I head back to the door to kitchen area, see our waitress in full lounge mode, setting down with feet up on a desk or box. I tap on door, ask for reason of delay, get a rude response of: "it will be ready when its ready" ! Can you believe that? No apology. No attempt to make things right. The gentleman bartender from Friday evening was very annoyed that we would keep bothering him to order drinks. Most bartenders I've experienced are happy to serve drinks, handle a big crowd, and make money. He would accept tips begrudgingly, but the service and hospitality was certainly not indicative of the rest of the property. Big cedar is a beautiful place, with a caring staff and this bartender certainly did not live up to the standards of the facility. Love to visit this little spot when we are staying at big cedar! They always seem to have live music and we have consistently received excellent service! On this occasion we sat on the patio since it was packed inside (on a Friday night) but we could still hear the band and enjoy ourselves. My dad and I got the bison burger, which was pretty good. My husband ordered the bison meatloaf sandwich but ended up getting the burger. He was in between those choices anyway so it was fine. Don't get the Cole slaw. Very bitter. My mom got soup and the cobb salad. She loved the salad but said the flavor of the soup was less than par. We decided to hit this spot up for my brothers bachelor party. The decor is amazing no complaints there. Our waitress was very sweet but the reason for 1 star is we waited an hour and a half for our food to come out. They kept bringing out biscuits to hold us over. I ordered the cheeseburger (easiest thing on their menu)... This thing looked like a hockey puck. Way overcooked. Everyone in our group of 9 said their food was dry. The manager apologized and brought us all new sandwiches and we got home. We asked for Medium cooked burgers the second ones were rare like the cook threw the patties on the grill long enough to melt off the ice. It ruined our dinner and we will never eat here again when we vacation in Branson. read more

Looking for a casual late lunch at Big Cedar, we went to the Buzzard Bar and it was the perfect choice. Interior has the "fancy but rustic" cabin look that is popular all over Big Cedar. One end is almost cave-like and the other end overlooks the pool and the hills and lake beyond. We picked a table by the windows to enjoy the view and split a pizza. Service was friendly and prompt. Can't really say much more about it except that it was exactly what I've come to expect from Big Cedar - pretty darn near perfect. read more

Wednesday at 9:30pm, Tim, the bartender, lacks good customer service skills, lacks the ability to remain calm under pressure and lacks ability to manage a bar. Another customer offered to give my parent their drunk because they witnessed my parent sitting wo being acknowledged for an extended amount of time. I tried to order a pizza and Tim rudely raised his voice, shook his head and yelled, "I cannot serve you you!!!!". I was appalled and left the Buzzard Bar. Will never return. We went to the buzzard bar for dinner the draw for us wasn't so much the dinner as the entertainment that followed our dinner. Our service was mediocre a little disappointing we had to ask for refills and for the dessert menu. The good thing about the restaurant is that they have a wide variety of offerings everything from pizzas to hamburgers to gumbo a wide mix. I got the seafood gumbo, it was really good, it was fresh the dish came with rice and beans and some spinach on the side that was great. Overall would highly recommend it. My husband and I split the Sunday which was pretty good as well. The best part of the buzzard bar is the singing cowboy, Clay, does almost nightly performances there and they are hilarious. Though judging from this last show Clay's son may soon be giving him a run for his money ha ha! Tacky. Best word to describe our experience. Tacky tacky tacky. I can't believe this is the only "late night" option... we went in at 9:15. Everywhere else was closed by 9 and this was a last resort option. I hated the entertainment. Again-tacky. The singing cowboy was fine, albeit loud as hell, when he sang and did requests, but sorry-his jokes are truly terrible. Found them more try hard than funny. He would repeat the same stupid joke over and over for 20 min. Most of the audience enjoyed it and yelled from their tables-again, adding to the extreme noise level-but I couldn't get behind it. None of that effected this review though. Solely based on food and service. Let's start. This place is open seating. Meaning no hostess. So, if you're lucky enough to find open seating-you grab it. Even if it's full of dirty dishes and you have to awkwardly sit there for 10 min while it's being bused. Not off to a great start. Our server, the receipt named her Suz, was initially very prompt. She took our drink order, we received it within minutes and she asked if we were ready yet. We hadn't even had the menu a full 5 minutes. I asked for a few more minutes and she disappeared....seriously, disappeared. She was gone about 15 min before she came back to us. We didn't see her at any other table during that time so possibly a break??? Whatever it was was bizarre. We placed an order for an appetiser and entrees at once. About 10 min go by-she drops our appetiser off so quickly we don't even have time to turn around and thank her. Or ask for silverware since we didn't have any. We sat waiting for about 5 min for her to return with no luck-finally I flagged down another server to help us out. She went and back and magically Suz appeared with silverware. We ordered the corn bread. My date asked for more butter when the silverware was dropped off. Suz asked a confused "you want more butter???" Why yes, that's what you eat with corn bread. On the menu it says "cracked pepper maple butter" but its just on the outside layer. She drops off a little scoop of butter, but it's frozen.like rock solid frozen. We give up at that point. The corn bread comes out as a loaf. Would've been nice to have a little bread knife or even a sharp steak knife to cut it. We were left with a butter knife which made every slice disintegrate. Neither of us had even finished a slice before our entree came out. Again, she just dropped them off and went on with her business-didn't ask how anything looked or if we needed anything else. Had she done that she would've know she delivered us both the wrong order. My date ordered the catfish poboy-he got the shrimp poboy. I ordered the club without onion and tomato-I ended up with the club still with onion and tomato. I also wanted a side of ranch and mustard. Waited 7 min for her to come back by so I could grab some. Overall food was a 2.5-fries were good, hated their ranch(too thick) club was decent(would've been better without the onion lingering) he said the poboy was ok, needed more sauce. He said it was dry and he doused it in ketchup. I hated the corn bread-whatever topping it had was really fatty. Service-honestly a half star. If that. So disappointed . When you're paying $350/night to stay here and food and drinks run you $75+ a meal-you expect better quality and service than going to Applebee's. read more
