The food was delicious! The only reason I gave three stars was because my husband ordered a soda, and they asked him several times if he would like a refill. They charged us for every refill but never told us until we got the bill. They should have communicated that the refills were not free but they didn't and we spent more on the soda than the food . Also, the carbonara pizza was very very salty. Almost inedible. The rest of the food we ordered was as amazing. read more

We were hosted by friends. We live near three midtown restaurants with good pizza but we like to explore other pizza restaurants in town. Excellent crust and good toppings. We had the margherita with bacon and the special with broccoli rabe. For starters we shared the cauliflower (good) and the arugula salad (excellent). We ordered ice tea and lemonades and the drinks were brought to us in the bottles to serve ourselves. We were given our choice of two tables on the patio as we requested outdoor seating. We did not see the interior. We arrived on a Friday at about 6 and were seated right away; after we arrived, the crowds started to come in, with short waits for seating. We arrived there 15 min before they opened at 5pm on a Saturday night. We weren't the only ones. Within fifteen minutes of being seated the outdoor eating area was half filled. We ordered crispy green beans with lemon aioli, basically tempera beans with shredded pharm so delicious! Potato Pizza was interesting and amazing. I don't eat meat with my pizza but the family said it was definitely a favorite. I didn't want to miss out so I ordered it sans the bacon and subbed it with mushrooms. It was fantastic. Green garlic pizza was flavorful but hubby said the panchetta was a bit too salty for him otherwise still excellent. The Margherita is a good go to. You can taste they use high quality ingredients and the pizza dough is perfect. Service was great, very friendly. Love that you can bring your dogs and they will bring out a bowl of water for the pups. The decor is inviting. My family would love to come back again. read more

Ordered one of every pizza. Here are my thoughts: Margarita: classic, can't go wrong. Solid choice if you like plain pizza, but nothing overly special. Still, they clearly use all high quality ingredients so it's a good slice of pizza. 5/10 Sausage: Very yummy for meat lovers. The roasted onions absolutely made this pizza. Im not usually a sausage lover, but boy do I love this pizza. 7/10 Mushroom: I hate mushrooms so I didn't try it. My husband found it delightful. He says 7/10 Green garlic: this is a GOOD pizza. It's interesting and the flavors meld well together. The pancetta makes it special. It's like an elevated version of the garlic pizza at Woodstocks. 8/10 Pepperoni: I was not expecting the spice on this one! Definitely more interesting than you're typical pepperoni pizza. Solid choice if you're a peppi fan, but honestly I liked the other pizzas better. 6/10 Potato: I had doubts about a potato pizza. Honestly sounds so weird. But YOU GUYS. This pizza is the pizza to end all pizza in Santa Cruz. It's interesting and unlike anything you can get at other pizza spots in town. Flavors blend perfectly. Go here! I have not had good pizza in a while. It had good char from the fire and a crisp to it. No flop but firm and very tasty which is most important. I will always keep coming back. On a trip from Sacramento visiting our son at UCSC and decided to give it a try after reading some great reviews. Did not disappoint. We started with the green beans and some cold local beers.we had a pepperoni and a Charlie pizza. Simple sounding right? But so amazing and flavorful. Service was super friendly and attentive. Very nice vibe inside and outside. We have new favorite when we visit. I had a very nice time here over the weekend with my girlfriend celebrating her birthday. We were able to get our name on the list via phone and promptly received a text to notify that our table was ready. We were greeted with friendly smiles and quick, attentive service by Noah who made some thoughtful recommendations. I had a margarita pizza (basic but classic) which I was very pleased with. The crust stole the show but the mozzarella and basil were fresh and tasty. My girlfriend had the Ricotta Cavatelli (which appears absent from the onljne menu beside some user uploaded menu photos). Unfortunately the menu does not mention the plate being garnished with chives, which undoubtedly adds to the presentation and flavor though it was a deal breaker for her. Noah was very prompt in arranging for a replacement to be made (as we would have not have ordered that if we'd known). I supremely appreciated Noah's willingness and promptness to serve us a replacement dish (without the chives of course) and she really really liked it. Creamy sauce with tasty sausage and our first time trying cavatelli. The seating area was rather cozy though a very friendly, chatty environment and it was nice to see the staff chatting sparingly and getting along (unlike robots). We also were checked on by 2 ladies during our visit to ensure things were going well which was a nice touch. The service was a 10/10 (thank you Noah and co.) The food was a solid 9.5/10 and prices align with the quality of food (in a good way). The only drawback was a limited drink selection (beers and non alcoholic) aside from many wines. Food was amazing!! Went with a large group and the service was great. The restaurant is a little small and cramped but it's gorgeous. The wait for food wasn't too bad (10-15min) however the waiter came by and brought us an appetizer for free while we waited! We ordered the Margherita and The Charlie and both were delicious. Great Pizza option, in a town saturated with Pizza joints. Tasty original sauces, and not just the same sauce on every choice. Well trained staff, service showed management had taken the time on dealing with the public. Rumor has it that the people that own Carpos (Buzzo's is right behind them) owns the restaurant, and it would make sense the way it puts out a quality product. We have added this place to our date-night choices. The only issue, which is a seasonal and very minor one, is the sun slams into the outdoor seating area. I called Buzzo Pizza to order a couple of pizzas to go. I was placed on hold and after more than 12 minutes on hold I was sure that they had forgotten about me. So I hung up and called back...27 times before I could get through. When I finally got through, the woman asked me to hold, I explained that I was on hold for over 12 minutes and simply wanted to order 2 pizzas to go. She took the time to explain that they were busy and she would have to put me on hold. I asked her to please take my order. It was now evident that in the time we were on the phone she could have easily taken my simple order of 2 margarita pizzas, but no. 6 minutes later she took my order. When I get there, I attempted to redeem a coupon from a text that I had just received. I was told that my coupon had expired, I showed the young woman my text from the same day, and she refused to accept it. I did noticed that while I was waiting, the young woman who answering the phone was chatting with a server for a few minutes. The last time I was there, I called and tried to get a reservation for a party of 4. I was told that they did not take reservations. When we arrived, we asked if we could move to a table in the corner away from the cold, the hostess advised me that the table was reserved. When I remarked that I was told they did not take reservations, the hostess said "we do for some people" a short time later, the party of 3 showed up to their reserved tabled. Yes the pizza is good, but perhaps on the weekends, they should have a person that is dedicated to answering the phone. read more
