My nail tech reused the nail polish remover she had me soak my nails in on another guest (disgusting!!), everyone was eating at their stations, and I'm positive they never sanitize anything. Awful job! I've been getting acrylics for years now and I've been here a couple times but this time they did the worst job I've ever had. three of my nails chipped within two days of getting them done here by doing simple tasks such as reaching into my purse...when I went in to get it fixed they charged me. Not to mention the polish color on my fixed nail was completely different from my other ones! Every time I have gotten a pedicure here the paint has immediately come off within a couple days. I asked for a dip manicure and I received half dip half gel.... very odd. I always get dip at other salons but went here because it was convenient, and I have never had them use the gel polish or UV lamp at the end. I should have known it wasn't right. Less than a day and my nail polish cracked and now two days later my $45 manicure is all gone but one finger?!? I am not sure that they truly understand how to do dip polish. I also took my daughter to get a gel manicure and her's has peeled as well (spent $68 plus 15 tip) Now I have to spend more money and more of my time to get these fixed. I've been to BV nails before and I wasn't in love with their work but it was decent and in a convenient location so I decided to go again. This has been one of the worst experiences I've had with my nails. I got my nails done on Saturday and the SAME DAY the nail on my ring finger broke. The next day my pinky finger broke and by the end of the week 4 of my nails broke in half. I get acrylic often so I know how to handle my nails so the fact that I have to take my nails off in less than a week is awful. Additionally, when I went here the first time I was charged $36 for the same exact style and regular nail polish. This time they charged me an additional $15 saying that my nails were long. I didn't mind because I thought my nails would last longer than a week but obviously it didn't. Please save your money and don't go here. I am highly disappointed and dissatisfied with the service I received and I urge you not to get your nails done here ever. read more

Out of convenience I have gone here many times. If you don't know anything about the health of your nails or skin, don't go here. Metal foot files are TERRIBLE for your skin, and yet they continue to use them. You have to ask them not to. The electric sander is TERRIBLE for your natural nails, it thins them drastically. I have gel polish done, and every time they use the electric sander, even after I request that they don't. It seems as though they are more concerned with quick service than taking the time to preserve the health of your nails. The polish can be soaked off completely, without damaging your natural nail. They prefer to soak for a couple minutes, max and aggressively scrape the majority off using a metal cuticle pusher and/or the electric file. Not worth it for gel color manicures. read more

They are rude and condescending, I told them that i did not like the color and the lady replied with "$10 charge" i don't understand why if i haven't even left the place yet? I also had to convince the girl that she didn't fully wax my lip. She pulled up up to the mirror and said "where you show me" so i did and she said ok. That was only because i showed her. And then she waxed where i said and rudely showed me the strip WITH HAIR IN IT and said "happy?". I went to bv nails for the first time ever to get a fill and a polish change and I will never go back again . I payed $43 plus a $5 tip so $48 total for the fill shape change gel polish and polish change on my toes , so im thinking okay thats not to bad . The salon appears nice and clean and the nail tech i had seemed ok ,but here is where the problem is he filed my nails down so thin that not even 24hrs later i already had 2 broken nails so i go there today still not 24hrs later and ask them what can be done about this situation , the manager or owner says they dont fix broken nails on fills for free and tells me its $4 to fix them ( im furious ) but still have no choice but to pay them to be fixed . So i get the two nails fixed and now the tech says $8 please im like what ?????? your boss said $4 , he then goes on to tell me that his boss ment per nail (even more angry at this point I pay . The nails that he fixed are done properly and not filed down so thin that they will crack in a day but bare in mind the fill he had done were on nails that i had on for over a month that not one single one broke that whole time because they were not paper thin ,as soon as i let them touch my nails they are now paper thin and braking . had the fill been done properly and the correct thickness none of this would be going on . Never in all the years have i ever had this happen and i have been getting my nails done for over 15 years now all over canada and america so its not like i dont know about how its supposed to be, and never other than one other instance at the other nail salon in the same mall have i experienced such horrible customer service especially for a first time client . I asked the woman doing my pedicure to please stop because she was hurting me and digging into my toes. She continued to do it and I had to physically take my foot back. I had also told her in the beginning that I had an injury on two of my toes and to please not touch them. She began cutting them and did not stop when I screamed. HORRIBLE NAILS!!!!! If I could give them a minus I would!!!! I came here once before and even though I wasn't WOWED that time, the niceness of the technician won me over. This time, the technician was livid that they divided the ticket between two of them and had me get my eyebrows done by someone else. She was in such a foul mood , she DIDN'T SPEAK TO ME the whole time!!!!!! She kept bitching about things with the technician next to her. She didn't know how to round a nail, she glued the tip so closed to the tip of my nail that the corners where not even resting on nails, she put so little acrylic that you can bend the tips. She gave me one coat of nail polish so it was so clear it looked stupid. I would have looked better with drugstore glue on nails. I had to go the next day to another place and have them fix the color. they charged me 10. I had to go to work that day so I didn't have time to tell them how horrible she was, so I returned the next Saturday and explained to manager I wanted my 10 for having to fix it. First let me say that my regular pedicure and eyebrow wax came out perfectly well. The service end, though, leaves much to be desired. I had read the reviews first, so I had very low expectations. The place looks like a typical bustling mid-sized mall nail salon, bright and modern. It really needs a manager (or owner?) who has a clue about how to run a salon, i.e. train the staff to show a touch of grace, charm and professionalism, and to follow proper, set procedures. My sense was that each girl was just winging it, interacting with the customers and performing the treatments however she wanted. The young tech I got was very frumpy, shuffling and tired - she looked annoyed to have another customer toward the end of a busy day. Given the reviews I wasn't surprised, and I actually smiled more than normal and was extra nice. (There was a lot of griping background chatter in Chinese among several of the girls in the corner I was located). The pedicure went fine, but things went downhill for my eyebrow wax. She initially motioned me to a regular side chair -- I was supposed to just sit with my head tilted back. When I hesitated, she offered the waxing room with a shrug -- I said, yes that would be better. But the treatment table in that room didn't have the usual paper covering, just some rumpled old towels laying haphazardly on it, which she didn't go over to change or even straighten up. I'm not a germophobe & didn't refuse, but I'm pretty sure the current health codes call for something more! In all my decades going to salons in a hundred cities and dozens of countries, this place is probably the sloppiest in terms of procedures that I've been. Given that I had read the bad reviews first, you're probably wondering why I came here rather than another place. The answer is that Syracuse doesn't have great choices. I'm a city girl and prefer to go to a place I can either walk to or take public transportation. One of the top rated places about a mile away was already closed the afternoon I wanted to go, another place much closer didn't have any availability (they were closing in an hour). Both of those places might have been close enough for me to walk to, but they're in dingy neighborhoods and some of the blocks are really desolate for walking. So the mall was my next best choice, because I'm generally going to a nail salon for a break from work and errands, and I'm always a walk-in. I don't mind impersonal salons because I'm looking to decompress and just do a little reading or shopping online, definitely not to have a chat with the tech. The Destiny mall is a sort of "everything but the kitchen sink" type of amalgam mall, with a mix of mid-market, down market and outlet wings, connecting bridges chock full of kiosks plus all manner of food and entertainment choices. I have been going to Philip for many years; he has always done an excellent job and sweet as well. I have not gone to anyone else, so no comment there but I like the place. No one has ever been rude or made comments that were derogatory-I have always travelled and had my nails done elsewhere, still prefer Philip. Expensive and looked horrible. I don't get my nails done often but I was going to a wedding so I had to. I told the woman that I don't go much so she has to explain to me what's going on and help me choose what kind of nails to get. She was RIDICULOUSLY IMPATIENT AND RUDE. They ended up not being what I wanted and looked so bad. She actually ruined my regular nails. I had this done in June, it's now November, and I'm still seeing the effects of the bad job she did. They also don't take tip on a card, only cash, and I didn't know. When I asked if I could leave tip on the card she got pissed off and said cash only and rolled her eyes telling me there's an ATM across the way. I NEVER get cash out of the ATM because it costs me about $8 to do so but I did anyway because I felt guilty like I was a bad customer. I gave her $15 tip on top of the $50 manicure fee and $8 ATM fee. The nails needed to be filled in LESS THAN 1 WEEK so I ripped them off. She said I was getting the good kind that last a long time. I've been a loyal patron for years but I am now divorcing BV Nails & Spa. Quality and prices are about average with local competition, but the staffing has really gone down hill. Staff are constantly playing with their phones and chatting amongst themselves, even worse is that most do not even say thank you when they are tipped. I have been getting my nails done for 16 years and never in my entire life have I gotten up out of the pedicure chair because of how rude the manager was. I should have listened to the yelp reviews but I figured that people only write when they have bad experiences so o wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. When the waitress at the Cheesecake Factory told me it wasn't the best but I didn't listen then either. When we got there and asked how much a gel manicure and pedicure together was were told $51 and a pedicure by itself was $26. When we sat down we were told that because gel was on my friends hands was gel it was $3 more. Every where else in the country (I travel for a living) the only time you're charged for removing gel is if you're not getting gel back on. Whatever, my friend was willing to pay BUT the girls doing our nails couldn't really communicate with us so a guy who I assume is the manager came in and I explained what we were told when we came in and he said that he didn't care that was how they did it. If we liked it they would do it, if not, fine. I was appalled! And I got up and walked out. Last time I checked this is a service and in the service industry you don't talk to your customer like they are doing you a favor. If I could give no stars,....I absolutely would. This is the second time I have been there. I thought I would give them another try because I was on the other side of town and needed my nails done STAT! After 5 days( I have gel nails and gel polish), my nail chipped off 3/4 of it. All I did was put my hand in the dog treat box to pull out a few for my pup. I could not get to the nail salon for 2 days(so 1 week later) To make things worse, I see that another nail is lifting before I get into the shop. I told them of my dilemma, and they told me to come in and would repair the two nails. Silly me,... thinks I will not be charged, due to the fact that it is only a week, and of course they would not be charging me. That would only make good business sense. Low and behold, The nail technician charges me $8.00. Mind you, I was already charged $46 plus an 8.00 tip a week ago. I looked at him as if he were joking. But no, he was not joking. He in fact told me that he was new and that he needed to be paid and I should have worked with the original technician. Well of course, they did not tell me THAT when I arrived.
