    Ribeye

After hearing so many good things, we finally tried By George last night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller restaurant with a separate bar area and was decorated very cute for the holidays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with a few beverages. The toasted marshmallow old fashioned was delish, I really enjoyed it. Our service started out great but unfortunately didn't end as great as it started. We started with the grape leaves and were very disappointed, they had good flavor but very mushy. The dinners were good. My friend had the ravioli with meatballs which I didn't get a picture of but it looked amazing. They were very generous with the sauce (which I love a saucy dish)! I had the Penne Fra Diavolo which was nice and spicy but in a good way, I added the shrimp and chicken and preferred the shrimp. Large portion/brought home leftovers. The rolls served with dinner were really good too. Now here is where the problem lied, my husband ordered the ribeye steak (medium rare). It looked amazing but was overcooked. He told the waitress and she had another one made but by time it came out the rest of us were done eating. This is always a frustrating dining experience. Thankfully the second steak was cooked perfectly but the sides were on the cold (not sure if they were the original sides or new sides). But it's never great to watch everyone else eat and then have to have the rest of the table sit and watch you eat. Overall good drinks/food but not a wow-ing first experience.

    Gyro dip

By George was recommended by many friends and neighbors, so we decided to go for a birthday dinner. The place is nestled in near and old strip mall. We pulled in and was surprised how busy it was for a Wednesday. Surprisingly the wait was not long. Everyone who recommended lauded the gyro dip, so that was ordered immediately. We also ordered an onion soup. Wife and I split that. I had the Bershire Pork chop, wife had the surf and turf chicken, and daughter had spaghetti. Everything was very good! My pork chop was grilled perfectly and had a strip steak vibe, the surf and turf was also cooked perfectly with a nice cream sauce. Lastly, my daughter enjoyed her spaghetti. The portions were large and we all had leftovers. Now the gyro dip was good. Don't know if it was a must for our next visit, but good. However, the onion soup was one of the best I've ever had, and that's including high end restaurants. Get it if you like onion soup. We split a homemade candy bar cheese cake for dessert. The piece was huge and all three of us had a taste. Very good. Lastly, the prices are not unreasonable, and the service was very good. The staff speaks highly of the restaurant, and the staff helps each other out to ensure constant attentive service. We will definitely go again.

This was my first time at By George. My Chicken Marsala was cooked perfectly and the marsala sauce was delicious along with the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. I discovered this place a few months ago, and it has become our top choice for dining in the Mon Valley area. Located on the edge of Monesson literally minutes from Belle Vernon's Tri County Plaza, it boasts a riverside location with ample parking. Open six days a week, you'll still want a seventh. On my first visit I ordered the Beans & Greens. It was beyond comforting with rich broth, buttery beans, and fresh kale. My fiancé ordered the special fall themed pasta that featured Gorgonzola, candied pecans, and a maple creme sauce that has left us both dreaming of it for months. It was in fact the best pasta dish either of us had ever tasted. The Brussels sprout side dish is spot on and a must try for sprout lovers. On our much anticipated second visit, I ordered the lobster bisque and pork chop, while my fiancé ordered the chicken Marsala. The pork chop was prepared to utter perfection and the accompanying risotto was absolutely scrumptious. The lobster bisque is super rich and eye rollingly indulgent. I licked the bowl. The chicken Marsala was tender, smothered in mushrooms and wine sauce, and was completed by beautifully sautéed fresh vegetables. Give By George a chance and you will not regret it!

Thanks to my friend Lauren for suggesting this place, we loved it! Everything from the appetizers to the dessert were spot on. Local beer selection, nice portion sizes, reasonable prices, and even local lamb! Restaurant was very clean, and our waitress was super nice. We will definitely be back! Convenient location off of Rt.70 Also, 3% added to credit card purchases, bring cash if you are able to!

    Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken.

Excellent service. Now I can agree with the comments from others. You can be standing there for a few minutes until they pay you any mind to have you seated. But once I was at my table. Service was pretty fast. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. I also had to glasses of angels envy. I would definitely come back again.

An absolute gem. Makers Mark Manhattan was excellent...elegant single crystal ice ball and perfect balance. Consistent too..both were yummy. At the table we started with the bean and greens appetizer--buttery well seasoned light sauce with fresh bread buns for dipping. Five of us happily shared it until the fight broke out over who would lick the dish bottom. Yep. That good. I had the meatball bake--thick sauce, sausage pieces, sliced pepperoni rings, and cheeeeese that wouldn't quit. Side of pasta. Couldn't finish it--too generous of a portion. Chicken marsala looked wonderful. Shrimp skewer. Berkshire pork chop. Salmon. All perfect. Will make this a regular stop every trip to SE area of Pittsburgh. Best Italian dish in a long, long time. Service was excellent, too.

This gem did a party of 6 wonders and made one of the better buffalo chicken salads I've had! When traveling with a large group of people, it's always nice to feel welcomed and readily sat and served, even on a night that was fairly busy. The drinks were great - kind of a sucker for a large list of mules and the raspberry mule was really, REALLY good. Not a big person on sweeter cocktails, this was just the right amount of sweet and had to have two. Rarely do I struggle with what to get from a menu, and everything looked fantastic, and all the food that came out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Since my family is from Western Pennsylvania, the offer of a steak or chicken salad with fries or tots in the salad was a most go for and the tots in the buffalo chicken salad was SO GOOD. Croutons whos? The greens were fresh, the grilled chicken was juicy, the tots were crisp and the dressing was SO good. All of my party enjoyed their food and beverages - especially the local beers. Fantastic and hope I get to come back!

Best restaurant in the area, hands down. Always great service with even better food and drinks. The interior of the restaurant is always spotless. Gyro dip with warm pitas is a must for an appetizer. The menu offers a great variety of dishes at different price ranges and they are always innovating with a few new and exciting specials every week!

Great gyros, a bit smaller than the old days. Kinda disappointed in the hummus. Overall, a nice change from the ordinary in Monessen.

I see no indication of gluten free (GF) selections on your menu, so what type of considerations do you make for your gluten-sensitive guests? We really look forward to visiting and reviewing your establishment!

Going to be in the area this weekend with our dog. Would she be able to sit outside with us?

I'm sorry, we are unable to accommodate pets unless they are documented therapy and/or service animals.

I can't tell you how excited my wife and I were to finally go here. We'd been seeing the pictures…read moreon social media of beautiful and interesting food. Based on those posts, we expected somewhat of an elevated experience. We couldn't have been more disappointed. We were there on a lunch buffet day. It was a health code nightmare. If no one got sick from that buffet food it was pure luck. Nothing was covered. The buffet table had no heat except lamps. The potatoes and green beans were cold. I didn't try the chicken. The temperatures were all off, generally stone cold. The Italian beef looked absolutely disgusting, red and dried out. The wedding soup was literally sitting on a table in a metal pan unheated. The iceberg salad sat on the same table also not cooled and the cups of ranch dressing sat unchilled and uncovered next to it. The pastas were both cold. The Alfredo was bland but the marinara was good. The pizza looked good and was hot, but I didn't like the texture or flavor. My wife thought it was average pizza. We had higher hopes for the BBQ platter since it was coming from the kitchen. It was simply ok. Despite waiting quite a while for the platter, it arrived lukewarm. Assuming BBQ is made ahead of time, heating it up correctly is about the only thing that needed to happen, yet it did not. The pulled pork and brisket were ok, nothing special. No dipping sauce was served for the brisket or turkey which was odd. The pulled pork was drizzled with sauce. I don't like turkey so I didn't eat it. We both agreed that the green beans side was by far the best food of the meal. The server came out of the kitchen with the meat platter, but stopped to scoop cold green beans from the buffet. I had to ask for them to be microwaved. After bringing the food temperature to staff attention, they only charged us half price for the buffet. The effort was appreciated, but they shouldn't have been serving anything from that buffet except the pizza. The place was clean, but they were clearly having staffing issues. Ambiance was a 3 out of 10. I had wanted to return another time to try a crab dish, but that is highly unlikely. The worst part was while waiting to pay my bill for a bad meal, I got to watch several beautiful pictures of amazing food pass by on the lobby tv screen that don't resemble anything I saw or ate here today. It literally looks like another restaurant's ads.

3.5 stars. Long, detailed review... Arlecchino Ristorante is a casual-elegant Italian restaurant…read morethat is uniquely inside a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1907. This restaurant is open for dinner and catering for dining in and takeout. It has many of the same menu items as its excellent sister restaurant Alla Famiglia. Each meal includes bread and oil, optional appetizers (e.g., meatball and mussels diavolo), a first course of salad and pasta, the chosen main course (e.g., chicken marsala, cacciatore, veal chop, and filet mignon), and then if desired dessert. Alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, wines, and beers) are also available. For my husband's and my wedding anniversary, I made a reservation for Arlecchino through OpenTable. We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Our first impressions: Valet was required for our vehicle. We felt interested in seeing the exterior and remodeled interior of the schoolhouse. Most of the restaurant was empty then, but the seating hostess took us to the worst table--the smallest table inches from the front door. I requested a different table, and she then gave us a much better one. OpenTable had said that the dress code was business casual, but other customers wore casual clothes, and a hostess wore shorts and a baggy sweatshirt hoodie. Our names were written on a chalkboard above the kitchen and on my menu but not my husband's menu. Our waiter provided timely service and spoke courteously with us. (If you are wondering how to pronounce the restaurant's name, he told me something like are-lee-kee-no or our-lee-key-no.) Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Autumn Spritz - 4 stars - This spritz contained apple cider, Marie Brizard Apry, prosecco, and soda, and I liked its flavors. Smoked Provolone - 2 stars - Smoked provolone was topped with black truffles and arugula. Neither my husband nor I liked this appetizer. I took two bites, and he tried to eat half. Casa Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad consisted of mixed greens, roasted peppers, raisins, walnuts, olives, gorgonzola, and slightly too much vinaigrette. Caesar Salad - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this salad, and he said that it was his favorite food in the entire meal. Cavatappi Alla Vodka - 4 stars - My husband ate this pasta, and I took one bite, and I thought that it tasted good. Cacio E Pepe - 4 stars - Months ago at Alla Famiglia, we loved the locatelli romano cheese wheel at the tableside, so we felt excited to try it at Arlecchino. The waiter definitely mixed the linguini, cream, oil, and pepper in the cheese wheel. This cacio e pepe tasted good but not as great as what we remember from Alla Famiglia. Halibut - 3.5 stars - My main course was this special menu item. The halibut tasted bland but was served with black-tiger shrimp, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, and butternut squash that added some nice flavors. I did not know the price for this fish until I saw the bill, and it was $72. Veal monzu - 4 stars - The veal was nicely breaded and fried and topped with mozzarella, jumbo lump blue crab, pine nuts, and lemon butter. My husband ate it, and my one taste-test bite indicated that it was flavorful. My husband was not interested in trying dessert, so we skipped it. Our total bill was $178 plus tax, tip, and a credit-card surcharge. Comparatively, I think that Alla Famiglia has significantly better food, but Arlecchino is worth a try.
