Lisa (owner), My husband has worked customer service for the better part of 20 years. This is not just a situation of he said / she said. I provided a picture of the hair and Dominique conceded over the phone that the price was provided AFTER the style was complete. The right thing to do, as an owner, would be to acknowledge the misstep and provide something to make it up to the customer. There are several "red herrings" in your response so let me bring you back to the main 2 points: quality of the style and taking advantage of a young person. Quality: Using your updated information. I draw attention back to the picture on the same day of the style and now ask, "This is a $568 haircut?" There is no hint of professional styling here. The hair barely looks like there was a little 'sun-in' on her ends. Please see the attached picture what it should have looked like. Frankly, this doesn't look like a $30 style. It looks like it was a rush-job completed by someone with little to no experience. The trim should have been at the beginning NOT after the balayage - since that means Ingrid removed some of the treated hair. My daughter asked for an inch to be taken off and the bottom rounded. However, nearly 2 inches were cut off and the hair is NOT rounded at the bottom, like she asked, it comes to an off center point (see pic). Again, I ask "this is a $568 hairstyle?" Taking Advantage: You seem to have concentrated on assessing the full cost of the actual style rather than how the up charges were applied without the express knowledge of the customer. Dominique already confirmed this point with my husband when he called. So, outlining your costs as if the quality justifies those cost does not discount that my daughter was not expressly informed that the price would more than double until after the style was nearly complete. It comes down to communication. Any responsible business would clearly illustrate how much more expensive instead of just stating a service "will cost a little more." My point about her being young was that a more mature, savvy person would have been more wise to your subtle con, asking "how much more?" when Ingrid was intentionally vague or just lazy to get the price. Again, Ingrid provided a partial consultation focused on color with little regard to price only providing a $352 price tag AFTER the style was being finished up. 1. Retrain your people on the parameters of a consultation. 2. Train them on the proper order of styling so you are not wasting product on hair that is then cut off to decorate your floor. 3. If you want to do what's right here, you would honor the $140 initial estimate plus $20 which would be in line with what Ingrid said, "the balayage will be a little more." 4. As far as the lack of tip, are you really highlighting the lack of a tip when both the quality and the way Dominique and Ingrid handled the situation warrants a tip? Entitled much? read more

Mary, the shampooist, basically gives you a full head massage that is worth way more than whatever tip I could leave her! Cindy gives a fantastic facial, and ChiChi has been taking care of my nails since I moved to VA. She is a fabulous nail tech and I am never as satisfied if I go to anyone else. Melanie was extremely thorough and thoughtful to what I wanted. My cut and color came out exactly how I wanted, I am super thrilled with it and will be going back to her. We finally found the perfect hair salon for our family. We were looking for a place closer to home and after visiting a few other salons we decided this was the one for us. They provide terrific advice, listen to what you hope to accomplish and the results are exactly what you expect. I didn't have to wait a week or two for my hair to grown out to be comfortable with my new hair cut. It was exactly what I wanted from day one. Although I am glad this is a local shop. I used to see Megan. I followed her from another salon. At the Other salon she was flawless. Awesome. Once she got here the quality of her coloring and cuts took a nosedive. I'm assuming that's because she has to buy all her own products. Whatever she was buying made my hair look like crap. I wanted blonde and it never looked the way I asked. I know she's capable of it as she did amazing work at her previous salon. She was my stylist for a long time until she stopped returning appointment requests, messed up on my appt times, never wrote the correct date down etc. very unimpressed with lack of professionalism. When I arrived, I was cordially greeted by the receptionist, Caitlin, who promptly notified my hair stylist, Karen, of my arrival. In addition to scheduling my appointment, Caitlin also added time for a consultation with Karen so I could describe my hair to ensure we were on the same page. I wore my hair in the style it was in every day to let Karen know what it looked like dry and how I dried it. I told her how my hair had been burned, characterized its texture, its health, and how much it frizzed depending upon the daily humidity. I talked about how much effort I put into styling my hair each day. I also brought pictures of myself with two different hair styles to ensure that the vision in my head matched the vision in Karen's head. My hair was shampooed and conditioned and then Karen worked her magic. I have naturally curly/wavy thinning hair and prefer to air dry it. Karen cut it in layers to give my hair more volume and let my curls frame my face. She put a light gel on it, gently scrunched my hair and I was done. I began having carpal tunnel syndrome years ago, but over the last couple of months I began waking up in the night with my hands in terrible throbbing pain, burning, and numbness and tingling: and when I got up in the morning I could not even close my hands. they were stiff and hurt so badly. I was also having a hard time feeling what my hands were doing. I work as a dental technician and my hands are my life. I decided it was time to go for treatment. For me surgery is out of the question so I found the physical therapist who got my husband walking again after a terrible broken ankle a few years ago. I contacted Stephanie Ashton and told her what had been happening and she urged me to come and see her. She was not sure at first if she could help, but felt that massage therapy was a good place to start. Undergoing massage therapy is not easy and there is some pain involved. Stephanie is constantly making sure I am ok throughout my treatment sessions, and I have to be honest and say yes it does hurt. I say this holding my breath. But no pain no gain in the situation. I can honestly say after my first massage which lasted an hour the terrible throbbing in my hands disappeared. I knew then that I was on the right track. By the way that terrible pain has never returned. I still had the burning and numbness with the tingling. Stephanie also suggested that I wear hand braces at night to keep my hands still so the muscles and the nerves could rest. I have been seeing Stephanie once a week and as of today have had my fourth treatment and for the first time in a couple of months my hands feel normal. No numbness or tingling no pain. I know I still have a ways to go and I will continue this treatment with Stephanie so that my hands continue to heal. Stephanie also works on my sore shoulders and arms, neck etc. Medical massage is great for your whole body. Some of my other aches and pains have gotten much better as well. I can say without a doubt that Stephanie is the most intelligent and most thoughtful and caring health care provider who has ever taken care of me. She loves being a physical therapist and loves doing the medical massage and she loves and gives one hundred percent to her patients and clients. She is amazing!!! read more
