I just got a "succulent bouquet" delivered to me from By the Bunch, by out of town family! It was absolutely gorgeous! They dropped it off at our front door and texted me to let me know it was there. It came in the cutest dark brown glass vase and the arrangement was so thoughtfully put together. I've always been a live plant kind of girl though vs fresh cut bouquets. I just personally like having the plant for years to remember the occasion by (yes, my house is full of plants, haha). I decided to take apart the bouquet to try to root the succulent clippings. They were all wire wrapped and then wrapped in green plant tape. I was so happy to find that once disassembled, the wiring was actually keeping little roots safe! It took a bit of time, to keep as many roots from breaking but it worked! I ended up being able to plant 3 separate pots full of the succulents from the bouquet! What a clever idea for a unique and beautiful gift. I decided to put the remaining non-succulent plants back in the little vase and it's still so charming on their own. read more

I have been going to By the Bunch since Rachel opened ages ago. It's my father's go to place for exquisite, unique flowers & bouquets. When I was planning my wedding I knew exactly who I wanted to do my flower arrangements and bouquets, Rachel, of course! She did an absolutely unbelievable job. I was so in love with the mixture of garden roses, ranunculus, anemones, and monkey tails. Everything was perfect, and done with great care, and attention. I could not recommend Rachel any more highly for your every day flower shop needs, or wedding / big events. read more

So disappointed and frankly embarrassed that these were actually delivered in my name to someone I love on such a special day. Over the years I have had floral arrangements delivered many times. Usually something in the $45-$80 range. While a few times I was a bit underwhelmed at what was delivered. I have always been pretty happy and most of the time delighted at what the florists had created. This was my first time ordering from this business. I was excited when I read their reviews and saw some of their arraignments. They noted that they often include unusual flowers in their floral presentations. I enjoy flora that is a bit out of the norm and along with the other information I read, I thought they would be able to create a lovely arrangement for my Valentine on Valentine's Day. I talked with them and requested "something bright and colorful with maybe a couple Stargazer Lillies for fragrance". I asked if they could do something nice and as described for $65 plus a $10 delivery fee. They said they definitely would be able to create something my Valentine would love. What was delivered was a total embarrassment! 3 totally closed Stargazer Lillies and a bunch of "filler plants" crammed into a narrow mouthed vase that even made adding water to the pitiful arrangement difficult. I worked at a florist many years ago and have friends that still do. I thought this arrangement was far from what was requested and not close to the value for what was charged. The people I know with and without experience in the floral industry that I showed the arrangement to were all in total agreement. This arrangement was substandard, poorly executed and over priced. The shop is beautiful. I love walking by and stopping in - Rachel is super friendly too. We used By the Bunch for a bridal photoshoot on Sauvie Island - the flowers were above and beyond. I appreciated her ability to hear what we were looking for but also encourage us to break away from trends and create something innovative and ultimately, much better than I could come up with myself! The result was perfect and really set the shoot apart. I loved the bouqtue, but also the centerpieces and namecard holder we featured. I ordered flowers for a friend's birthday from Rachel. We chatted on the phone for a few minutes regarding my price point and the style of flowers I like. Good sign: Rachel does not even carry carnations or baby's breath. Hurray! She was very helpful and friendly. I mentioned that my friend would not be home until late so Rachel scheduled an afternoon delivery. The flowers were just lovely. So tasteful. I loved how you can get a text message or email of a picture of the actual flowers sent. I have had a few atrocious arrangements sent in the past with other florists so it sure is nice to be able to see what you bought! AMAZING!!! I emailed Rachel after a frustrating attempt with another flouriest that was rude and blew me off. I had wasted weeks waiting to hear from someone else to do the flowers for my wedding and I was running out of time. I had originally planned on making my own bouquet, I had a idea of what I wanted and when I had weighed the costs and time of everything, I was month(s) away. Rachel emailed me back right away, we set up an appointment to meet and within 3 days had a contract signed. She was a breath of fresh air and her energy/excitement reinsured me that I was making the right choice. She worked with what I wanted for flowers and our budget. When it came down to my wedding day, her shop was closed but we arranged a secondary location for pick up. It went smooth, the bouquets and boutonnieres were stunning. She even got me peonies in late late hot July, which I had so badly wanted but knew it was a long shot. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to review By the Bunch. By the Bunch did the flowers for our wedding in September 2009; everything turned out exactly like I wanted, and the bouquets were absolutely gorgeous. Rachel really listened to me and understood what I wanted; I really wanted dahlias in shades of deep red, but with interesting and quirky touches of different flowers, berries, and greens in complementing shades of red and ivory. When I described what I was looking for to other florists, some of them just didn't listen and tried to push me towards their own preferences. My husband also loved the boutonnieres that Rachel made. Rachel was also flexible in allowing us to order the bouquets and boutonnieres while ordering the rest of the flowers in bulk. We wanted to reduce costs by arranging the flowers for the centerpieces ourselves, and she was just fine with that. She also set aside some flowers for us to use on our cake, which we picked up a day early. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend By the Bunch. read more

Ordered a boutonnière for my son's prom that was perfectly understated, fresh, and half the price of the last one I bought from a North Portland vendor. Will absolutely be back for more pretty flowery things! One criticism I have is that their communication system is a bit wonky. I had to call twice to place the order then call day-of to make sure it was ready for pick up. Maybe just a courtesy call or text to let customers know their orders are processed, completed, etc. read more

My husband recently had flowers delivered to me for my birthday. He told them my favorite color was orange, and the bouquet I received was stunning. It looked more like something handpicked in a meadow, only better, and the vase is very nice, big and substantial. The flowers are still okay after one full week (many flowers died but the lillies are still great). He has sent me many bouquets in the last 19 years, but this was, by far, my favorite.
