    Salted Caramel Cheesecake

A downtown classic, this restaurant has received some mixed reviews but it seems we ordered all the right things because the food was excellent. We started with a selection of appetizers, all of which arrived presented beautifully and tasted just as exquisite. There was someone at the table who had never tried grilled octopus before, and this dish made him an instant fan. I had the pan seared halibut for my main, and was quite impressed by the flavour of the broth. The sweet and sour combination was well balanced, and the fish itself was very tender and fresh. I was also surprised to hear compliments about the quality of the steak from others at the table, who rated it even more highly than some of the steakhouses in the area. The meal was perfectly finished off with dessert - I absolutely adored their berry yuzu sorbet, so much so that I had to ask if it was sold in bulk (hint: it's not). The ambience was subtle and muted, with comfortable seating - very suitable for conversation during a weekday lunch. Service was an absolute delight: the waiter attending on our table was professional and courteous, happy to accommodate dietary restrictions, prompt in responding to requests, and generally made the experience extremely enjoyable. If you can afford it (or get your workplace to afford it), this place is highly recommended!

Had a very good business lunch here. Nice outdoor seating space during the summer. Right in the middle of the financial district. So, most of the people eating here at lunchtime are there for some kinda business. It's got that feel and it is perfect for that.

I wanted to like this restaurant, but for the $$$ you pay, I expected better food quality and service. My reservation was for 7:15 on a Thursday night, hubby and I got there at 6:45. The weather seemed nice enough, so I asked if we could sit outside, even though my reso was for the indoor dining room. We got seated and the wind was just too much. I asked if we can go back to my original indoor reso, but the manager said the dining room was full. Strange, because it wasn't even 7:15 and they already gave my table away? Hm. So, table #2 was by the bar, where the table was at my knees. I didn't want to spend $150 on dinner and eat it off my lap. I went back to the hostess to inquire about my original indoor reservation - and she seated was in the dining room, ha! Success, at table #3. Now for the food. I read some reviews before going to Bymark, so I knew it was going to be overpriced. The portion sizes were tiny, apps and entree, and everything was too salty. The calamari was crunch, small rings, light batter, came with lemon garlic aioli (tasted like regular mayo to me), but too salty. The shrimp tacos were okay in terms of flavour, but each were the size of a tortilla chip. The beet wrap was different, but 6 bite-sized snacks didn't warrant $23. They are definitely NOT tacos. The hand-stretched mushroom pizza was my favourite app of the three. The crust was delicious, they used king oyster mushrooms and fresh mozzarella. For the main, I ordered the smoked duck. The small 5-bite duck breast was flavourful, the skin could've been crunchier. It was served with a confit ravioli which I didn't care for. The white leek purée went well with the duck. This dish was $38. For dessert, we ordered vanilla marscapone ice cream, berry and citrus yuzu at $3 per scoop. Our waiter was just ok, he didn't do anything above and beyond. For a fine dining restaurant, it was super loud and the patrons around us broke out in boisterous laughter from time to time. I've been to fine dining before and I definitely wouldn't categorize Bymark as that. My $150 gift card didn't get us too much food. Would I go back? No I would not. Maybe if I billed my clients $300 an hour like some folks on Bay Street, I can have lunch and dinner here on the regular.

This is a place to go take Instagram pictures because the food is awful, the hospitality changes depending on what you wear and hope you look. The steak I tasted here was the worst of all my life, the portions were too small and I am a person who worked in fine dining. The "cheesecake" was a joke!. It is not a cheesecake at all just some small cream on an oversized plate. We went there for my girlfriend's birthday, it was a horrible decision of mine. The location is great, you have too much money to waste on awful food and take some cool Instagram pictures by Mark is the way to go. The name made sense after I tried this place, it's to say " I got fu*** by mark" 1/10

    Ahi Tuna Tartare

Duck was cooked perfectly, although the dessert was a bit deconstructed. Service: Waitress was very friendly, and was fairly attentive given how busy it was on a Saturday night. Food: The ahi tuna tartare was executed very well, with the wasabi-yuzu aioli balancing the tuna. The duck breast was cooked perfectly and very tender, definitely recommended! I wasn't a fan of the cheesecake - even though it looked pretty appealing, I prefer a classic cheesecake to the deconstructed version. Overall: Great dining experience in a very romantic setting, with dimly lit candles to compliment dinner. Highly recommended establishment for a fancy date night!

I think this was by far the most exceptional service and time I've EVER had in the entire of my meager 24 years of life!!! My boyfriend and I reserved this place for our 2 year anniversary - it's oddly situated in front of the TD Towers but hey, get that bread Bymark! We came during COVID so they had options to scan a PDF of the menu, which I thought was very clever. We promptly got seated - however, the manager came by and stated that unfortunately another table wanted the area we were in (there was some sort of mix-up). She said she'd buy us a round of drinks to compensate. Girl, FREE DRINKS TO MOVE MY BUTT? For sure, of course! So we moved, and got ourselves some fancy drinks, comped! :) So hats off for the manager for treating us not like peasants. We got a variety of things (one day in the life to be fancy), and we got the Calamari and the Ahi Tuna Tartare. MY GOD - get the Tartare. It was like nothing I've ever tasted and was a fan favourite between my boyfriend and I. For our mains, I got the 6 ounce strip loin and my boyfriend got the lamb. Again, both fan-favourites and chatting about how we wanted to live this type of life every day for the rest of our lives. We decided to end the night with dessert - we got the Lindt chocolate cake and the donuts. Both, again, so good, so fat, so much goodness. They also wrote "Happy Anniversary" on the plates too, which was so cute! The entire time, the service was just exceptional. Like, I felt special when I was dining there. I never feel special at restaurants, so KUDOS! Alas, it was our time to go (begrudgingly), but the manager also comped our desserts as well - since we were celebrating our anniversary and that we were nice about the table move (girl, I just moved my butt but sure!). All in all, it was such an exceptional place with great service, that 1000000% I would spend that moo-lah to come here time and time again. TIP: Parking is free if you park at the adjacent TD TOWER AND NOT THE RBC BUILDING. We didn't know, and the ticket they gave us to compensate the parking didn't work. So make sure you park at the correct place to save that fee!

We were in town for the opera and needed a great meal to top off the night. Bymark exceeded our expectations. When approaching, we thought we may have booked a patio restaurant. Thankfully, when you enter the front door, there is a gorgeous subterranean space with a wine cellar, sleek decor, and a great vibe. Our server, Ricky, was on top of our orders, and there were many drinks, many apps, and entrees all around. The stand outs were the red wine carpaccio, the steak, the lobster poutine, and the oysters. Everything was fantastic and fabulous though. What a great place to have a special night out. Highly recommend.

We decided to go to Bymark for dinner last minute on last Friday evening around 5:30. As we were in a rush to leave for another appointment at 6:30, we went for winterlicious menu as in general it tends to be faster. And given our weird timing, we were able to get seated without reservation or wait time. The service is superb as the waitress went beyond her way to make sure we can be out in one hour. She asked about our needs, speeded up the process and on the same time made us feel very comfortable as she never rushed us. The food is in huge portion. We ordered the Burrata, Grilled Radicchio and Kimchi Steak Tartare for appetizer. Both of us really liked it as the steak tartare is seasoned well and Burrata as always is creamy on the roasted squash. For main, we went for Braised Lamb Strozzapreti Pasta and 7oz Dry Aged Burger. I like the lamb pasta and the lamb was cooked well and not too dry. The burger is pretty good too as you can taste it is freshly made and with good meat. However the desserts are subpar. We ordered the Chocolate Tart and Sticky Toffee Doughnuts. The tart shell is really hard and I really do not want to give my teeth the challenge. They give 2 donuts. I think one would be enough for me as it is too heavy and too sweat. Overall the service and the main for winterlicious are really good. And I always like Bymark in general for regular menu. So I will defiantly go back in the future.

    Winterlicious- cauliflower & zucchini salad

This rating is only for winterlicious 2020 lunch menu. Got a reservation right after winterlicious reservation opened, Bymark is always very popular so we aLways wanted to try. I can't eat fish so I went with cauliflower&zucchini salad, duck confit and sticky toffee donut. My friends also went with Tuna Tartare, Braised Lamb Pasta and Lemon Cheesecake. But I will only cover what I ate: 1. cauliflower&zucchini salad. I am a meat lover, I would never order non-meat dish if I have choices, but other than the tuna, there is no other meat appetizer. It was far beyond my expectation, the hummus blends so well with the roasted cauliflower, its crunchy, its savoury, the fried chickpeas and the pomegranate bits gives this salad another dimension of texture and flavours. It definitely changed my opinion about vegetarian appetizers. 2. I asked the server for his suggestions on the entree because I couldn't eat salmon and I don't know what to choose between duck confit and lamb pasta, he said "duck, for sure duck". I am glad I made that choice. The skin of the duck is so crispy, with the sour apple bits on the top, the flavours just explode in my mouth. I really enjoyed the sauce too, but after a few bites, the duck got a little bit too salty. I hope I could get a little more sour apple so the acid can cut thru the fat. 3. I have a sweet tooth, and the sticky toffee donut is right in my alley, but if you can't eat too sweet, u would end up with some of my friends who didn't even finish 1/2 the dish. IT IS VERY VERY SWEET, and if you go for lunch, it will put u into a food coma afterwards :D but its worth for me. I enjoyed my experiences overall in this restaurants and I will be back for more delicious food next time.

We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! It's also been a reliable spot to be able to book tables for large groups. However, they have poor problem resolution if there are any issues that arise. Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

But after a long day and an even busier evening, I got back to the hotel famished. My brain was incapable of processing decisions and when I saw how busy this corner of the Sheraton was, I decided this was it. I grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a drink, and listened to a podcast to wind down. It was exactly what I needed. The drink, Nutty Times, was not only delicious but the presentation was exciting too. The bartender was witty, he advised everyone near us at the bar to whip out our phones, because he was about to put on a show. Check out the video I added! After a while, my anxiety from the day began to wear off and it was time to eat. I asked if I was able to take it up to my room as a to-go order and they said that was no-go. Something about the presentation and how you had to be there for it. I don't know about that. I ordered the Atlantic salt cod (fried cod balls) and while they were super good, the presentation left me thinking, "I could have totally eaten this in my giant robe in bed." Regardless, I enjoyed every bite. I did end up getting approval to take my dessert to-go. This made me very happy. It was a chocolate mouse-like thing, shaped like a heart (it was just after Valentine's Day). It came with berries and drizzled with chocolate. Very decadent. This was a very hip spot. The environment was buzzing with people in town for whatever reason, the staff was great, and the cocktail and food couldn't have been better.

We spoke with two bartenders that were both friendly, and willing to impart their spirits knowledge. Both cocktails were exceptional. They are expensive, but it's a Sheraton, so it was expected. Food was tasty, but pricy too. The bar is beautiful, so definitely a nice place to visit.

Thanks to a couple of the reviews, we ordered -- among other things the spicy rigatoni. Absolutely unbelievable flavor that really wakes up your tastebuds and says, "Delicious, aren't I?" The answer is YES!!! We ordered the truffle fries for the table, which are the best I've ever had and I love truffle fries. I ordered the Sangria Rouge simply because I love a really good one. This met and exceeded all my hopes and dreams. In fact, I would say that that describes this restaurant. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience.

We ordered a bunch of things to share and the table ended up being full pretty quickly. Rock shrimp to start, truffle fries with truffle aioli, a wagyu caesar salad, half roasted chicken, and king oyster mushrooms. Everything was good, but the rigatoni completely stole the show. Creamy, spicy, perfectly cooked pasta and one of those dishes where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. Drinks were solid too. The Pornstar Martini and the Hot & Bothered were both great and fit the vibe of the place. The space feels polished but still lively, especially around the bar. Definitely the kind of spot that works for a night out, drinks with friends, or a late dinner. If you go, do not skip the spicy vodka rigatoni. I would come back just for that.
