Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. I was fairly horrified because I thought solid state drives were supposed to be much more reliable than traditional HDD spinning disc drive. Incorrect! Flunk! Fail! Go directly to jail!! What a bummer. I thought I was toast. I'm a photographer and I had a lot of images on this drive. One terabytes worth. It's rubberized and sealed. I thought it was beyond repair. I googled around and found 5 Star Data Recovery. I took it in and they busted it out. They did a tremendous job and got 98% of my data back. What a bullet to do! Cost me around $600. I wouldn't call it cheap, but I would say it was actually pretty fair considering what they were working with. Also, would I learn never buy an encrypted external hard drive. It makes it that much more difficult and expensive to retrieve data from. They were still able to do it even though it was encrypted. Anyway, all in all the guys were awesome. I couldn't be happier. I had 20 or so years of mp3s, photos, movies, and videos that was lost when my single volume D:\ shared across two 512gb hdd was removed causing all of my data to disappear. Solomon was able to recover 99% of the data and back into its original folders. I'm giving a four star instead of five because the service was relatively pricey $699 compared to other quotes I received, however HDD Recovery was a lot closer to where I live. Also, because my hard drives were relatively full, some important financial files I had in the root directory were not recoverable. Regardless, I'd still recommend if price is not a concern and if you value years worth of data recovered for whatever reason, convenience or sentimentality.

I've had the iPhone since it first came out several years back and have upgraded to each new model ever since. And I had ipods even before that. There are more apple products in my house than there are people. As a matter of fact the ratio is more like 4:1. I have gotten to love them for its design and durability, as do millions of people have. That is why it came as a shock to me that it was just last week that I actually ever broke one by accident. As I was getting out of my car, I grabbed my iPhone 5S not knowing that I was actually charging it through my cig lighter so I dropped it as I yanked it from the cable. Glass cracked into pieces !! Now I am very updated when it comes to tech stuff so I know that the rumors about the iPhone 6 coming out is just around the corner. It might not come out within the next month or so but I need my iphone more than I need my ipad, macbook air, or even my car for that matter. I was quite sure that this was not the first time that this has happened to someone so I asked around. Luckily one of my tennis buddies, gave me the number of this place and told me that they might be able to help me. I drove over to the place and parking was not that hard to find. Im not really sure what a place that fixes phones should actually look like but this was a 3rd floor office space that also managed to fix computers and iphones. Quite a bit small office if you ask me, but as the tech guy started working and explaining what he was about to do, I felt immediately confident that he knew what he was doing. In 30 mins, I was out the door with a fully functioning iPhone glass. I was so happy that I immediately grabbed coffee from the next door coffee shop Tom n Toms ( which will be the subject of my next review ), and started to write a review. I was shocked that they didnt have a single one maybe because they said that their customers are mostly small businesses. Anyway, there is always a first. If I could give 100 stars I would. This is a real review from a real person who received over the top customer service from the owner Noel. I have an iphone 5C and Noel fixed it in 15 MINUTES!!! I swear! I had an appointment at 9am, I had a lil trouble finding the place only because I didn't have my GPS due to my broken glass and LCD. I got there at 9:30am and he was working on another persons phone! I had time before I went to work and just hung out in the office and watched I had to be at work at 11am in Hollywood. After good conversation in no time Noel was done with his phone, had him check to make sure he was okay with the repair and that was it, he was on to my phone. After more good conversation and even a few laughs he handed me phone I looked up at the clock at it was 9:55 I kid you not! New glass and LCD and installed a screen protector on my phone! I am now happily at work I actually got here with 30 minutes to spare to check all of my missed calls and messages. My phone is working perfectly. He also hooked me up with accessories this guy is the best!! He fixes basically anything Apple and also offers a 30 day warranty. I will likely never go anywhere else as long as I live in LA. Thank you, Noel, so much for getting my iPhone 4 back to life! I was told by Apple Store staff how impossible to get it fixed and I should simply buy iPhone 6 which just came out. I almost did at the spot but glad I waited and got a second opinion! If I dropped it or spilled liquid on it, it would be my own fault and easier to accept the fact I broke it, but I did not do anything - the phone rang and somehow it shocked the phone and it went into coma and never woke up for 2 days until Noel's magic touch this morning. Even though it's an older model..I like my phone and I thought I lost everything in it. SO beyond happy that it came back to life!! Noel was so great! The location was easy to get to and park as well! I easily came up to the 3rd floor where he was waiting for me. Filled out a short form and he got started on my phone and even let me watch- I'm totally into that tech stuff! 10 minutes later I went to use the bathroom and by the time I came back my phone was ready! Just like that a brand new screen! We test checked the cameras and I was all set. I even got a screen protector, that he applied flawlessly and a USB charger! Everything was done within 20 minutes- amazingly fast service! I hope I won't have to come back because I definitely don't want another cracked screen, but if it happens I'm definitely coming here! Noel is the best! I cracked my ipad mini screen really bad & when i took it to him, he said he'd try to get it fixed that same day.. But he finished in like an hour or so!! I was sooo happy i even offered him extra cash as a tip, but he politely refused and said that it was ok. He did such an awesome job & best of all, he only charged me $119 when EVERY OTHER PLACE in LA quoted me $160 or more. No shit, this place is awesome! At first i was skeptical becuz he works out of a small insurance office, but dont let that keep u from saving money & time & getting the best i-device repair experience around. It was also the most affordable $ 60.00 for the screen replacement. I was very happy with everything. After breaking up with my GF, I was left alone with not only broken heart but broken LCD of MacBook Pro Retina 13". My bad tempered ex-girlfriend did it on purpose. Since I couldn't repair my broken heart, I decided to repair LCD. So I went to Genius Bar, got a quotation of 600+. I googled for mac repair service for less money. That's when I found BYOD store. I lost my iphone on a ride at Seaworld and when I got it back, the phone was pretty damaged. I work close by this spot, so I dropped in to see what they could do for me. Noel was knowledgeable and gave me the honest assessment. No promises that the device could be repaired, but when he contacted me a few hours later, he said it was finished and the device was working again. Great prices! Cracked my iPhone 5 on Christmas. Hid it from my mom since she would freak out. (I broke this phone 3 times before.) This is the cheapest I've ever gotten it fixed for. Noel is great! I called and made an appointment to get my iPhone 5s screen repaired/replaced and he was able to fit me in his schedule and it took no longer than 20 minutes for $60. 10 minutes away from DTLA, fit right into my lunch break. Best deal around. Will definitely refer friends to him for any iPhone or Mac issues. read more

I rate this place 5 star because I took my macbook air for a water spill to the apple store they were charging me 870$ to fix. I brought it here after reading the reviews and he was able to fix it at a cheap price. Im really glad I found this place, definitely coming back. Our small law firm has an old Lenovo computer that we use only for billing with outdated software…read moreand we wanted to avoid having to purchase the newer expensive version. The hard drive was failing and an IT tech recommended having it "imaged," which would result in an exact duplicate that would not require any software reauthentication. He also recommended Tech Care as the folks to do it. They initially tried doing an automatic imaging, which didn't take, so they attempted to manually image it and were successful. The computer now has a more reliable SSD drive (no moving parts) and it indeed works exactly as it used to (only faster). Eddie informed me that the old drive had maybe one month left before it completely failed. LIFE SAVERS!!! Eddie, Abed, Josh and everyone else I spoke to are top-notch guys, and the price to repair was eminently reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
