    Ribs and smoked salami

As a Texan and a self-proclaimed barbecue nerd, I am always excited to see how Q is done in other parts of the country. After reading plenty of reviews, Adam's Smokehouse lived up to the hype and completely threw my expectations out the window in the best way possible. The ribs are a bit different than what I'm used to back home--the sweet glaze isn't standard dry-rub Texas style, but it works beautifully and they were amazingly delicious. The real standout surprise was the smoked salami. Whatever you are picturing in your head, it won't match up to what they serve; it is going to be way better. It's an incredibly unique, scrumptious bite of food that you just have to try for yourself. I had a chance to speak to the owner/pitmaster, who is clearly passionate about his product. Great guy and great staff. While we only had a short visit in the St. Louis area, we had several great meals. This one was tops though; if I only had time for one meal here, this would be it--hands down.

Adam's is by far our favorite BBQ in STL. I got their salami on their salad today. Their salami is house made and has great chew and flavor. I've also gotten their pulled pork and turkey on the salad in the past, and they're all wonderful. The staff is always amazing and helpful and appreciative of their customers. The restaurant isn't huge, but it has a great local vibe. Like all good BBQ spots, they can sell out of different food depending on the demands that day. All of their food is great though, so try something new. That's how I fell in love with their salami!

Beef Brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, mac and cheese

Came here on a weekend around 1 PM and they were already out of ribs and chicken, so I ended up ordering the brisket. It was good, but could use a bit more seasoning. I was impressed by the portion size and really enjoyed the sides: coleslaw, potato salad, and mac and cheese. I'll definitely come back to try the ribs, since they seem to be the star of the menu. The staff was very friendly, and we noticed a lot of out-of-town guests dining here as well. It is small inside with maybe seating for 20 people but the service is quick so turnover is frequent.

The service here was fantastic! Super friendly, and the food took roughly 30 seconds to be put in front of us. Everything was great, but the ribs were especially amazing! They made sure to make you feel like you were a regular just by stopping in, and I can't wait to try to become one! I'll definitely be back and will order the ribs again!

First time visiting this terrific bbq restaurant! It's a small eat-in restaurant space that's cozy. Order at the counter from the friendly staff who tell you all about their menu. We shared a full rack of pork ribs and side of smokehouse baked beans. Really liked the smoked flavor of the dry rubbed ribs. The baked beans were tasty with small meat chunks in the sauce. Highly recommend Adam's Smokehouse!

The BBQ here just wasn't it. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork and the overall execution was lacking. Look at the photos - the brisket and pulled pork look extremely dry (and they were). I don't mind the thinly sliced brisket if it was cooked well. However, the smokiness was almost non-existent and definitely needed sauce to save it. It's also not because it's the flat since I've had multiple really juicy flats. The pulled pork was so dry I had trouble swallowing it alone. Even doused in sauce, the texture is still the same. The rub used was pretty good though. The service here is 10/10 and everyone was so friendly.

    Smoked Jack fruit. Yum!

Went back this weekend just to have the smoked jack fruit BBQ. This so good and a great plant based option for those of us trying to mix it up and eat more plant based. I'm not a vegetarian but sometimes for health reasons I'd rather eat the jack fruit than meat. It's great having the option. I'll def do it again.

Wowow! What an incredible bbq spot. My mom and I have been wanting to come to Adam's for a long time, and yesterday was the day! I was especially excited since Yelp just came out with their top 10 BBQ spots in stl, and this gem nailed a spot on the list. We walked in around 1pm, and there was no line (which was a relief, because I've seen it become quite crowded after driving by). We were greeted by the super friendly staff and were told what they had left (to be expected- it's almost after lunch time at a bbq spot... if you want a full menu, ya gotta go early). The spot inside is quaint but definitely has pleasantly of seating. It's relaxed and has lots of stl pride on the walls :) I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich with a side of pasta salad. My mom got the pulled rib sandwich with a side for slaw. The food came out quickly (a huge plus of BBQ spots) and I helped myself to a fountain soda. The bun was fluffy and fresh, and was adorned with incredible pulled pork. It was warm and not dry, and was delicious with their choices of sauces on the side. The pasta salad is mayo based, and was super fresh tasting. My mom really enjoyed her rib sandwich and slaw. I've never heard of pulled rib before, it definitely peaked my interest for next time. They also told me they'll be at Grub and Groove this summer at Francis Park which I'm pretty pumped about.

We found this restaurant through yelp. The smoked ribs were amazing! The owner is super nice and the food is absolutely delicious.

The line wasn't too long, but I did notice it's set up a little differently than I remember. They now use more of the building, so the line runs down the hallway and loops into the restaurant, with two ordering counters available. While you're waiting, they have menus to look at and even a QR code if you'd rather pull it up on your phone. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes before ordering. Once we got to the counter, everything moved quickly. The staff member helped us right away and let us know they'd bring the food out to our table, which I was glad hasn't changed. One thing I did notice is that the original ordering/dining area is no longer open for seating, it looks like it's now used for staff and possibly catering/to-go orders. They have their drink station available for self-service and offer sodas and sweet and unsweet tea options as well as water. Luckily, there's still plenty of seating in the newer dining area, plus a good number of outdoor tables if you want to sit at a picnic table and enjoy the weather. Within a few minutes, we heard our names called and our food came out fast. And honestly, it was just as good as ever. I was especially happy with the sweet potato fries, and even though applesauce isn't anything fancy, it's kind of the perfect side for me at Pappy's. I ended up eating about half of my meal and boxing the rest up for dinner later, which is always a win. Overall, such a great spot, and I'm really glad it's so close to work. Definitely still a fan and will keep going back.

My research brought me here to Pappy's. I'm very glad it did. Ambiance starts with a line out the door, literally. You slowly shuffle down a long hallway full of Pappy's memorabilia. Then you make it to the ordering counter, order, and find a table. The dining room is huge, plenty of tables, with a full complement of sauces on each table. The service people at the counter were friendly, and so were the people delivering the food. The food came out quick and hot and delicious. We had baked beans and potato salad for sides, and they were pretty solid. Nothing show-stealing, but no complaints about them whatsoever. And of course, we got the ribs. Tender, juicy, a nice bite and chew, a decent bark, just a really wonderful rib. Better than any St. Louis style rib I've ever had back home in Florida. Other states, hard to say, the jury's out, but in that moment, I was eating a five-star rib. So good. We also got a 1/4 pound of the Burnt Ends. Usually, burnt ends are the king of meats, but I think we've entered the phase of America, where they're just another variety of meat and not necessarily upper echelon anymore. That being said, these were pretty ok. Should have gotten more ribs. Overall, Pappy's was pretty wow. Great local spot with a lot of pride and history, excellent ribs, I will definitely try to come back next time I'm in town.

I split a full rack with mom for my most recent birthday meal and I was not disappointed! Naturally, we each had plenty of leftovers. The ribs came out with that perfect dark, smoky bark that's packed with flavor. The meat underneath was oh so tender. For one side, I went with applesauce - a classic. Appropriately chilled, it was a nice, fresh component to a largely roll-me-out-the-door meal. It was topped with a very confident amount of cinnamon. Heavy-handed for my taste, but if cinnamon is your jam, you'll be thrilled. The baked beans, however, came in hot. And I don't mean temperature; I mean with a spicy surprise. The sweetness of the applesauce cut down the bite of the heat, but I longed for milk to put out the little fire on my tongue. I have a low threshold for spicy food, so you may be quite alright with it, but it was a surprise to me. Pappy's is, hands down, my go-to BBQ spot.
