This place is an icon in Dogtown --and go to the turtle park and stop in a couple blocks away! For those people who don't drink I HIGHLY recommend Guiness NA..better than the real stuff! They have a fabulous, Happy Hour and it's just not an hour. It's Monday - Friday 4PM-7PM, on Friday & Saturday it's also 10PM-12AM. Then Sunday it is, All Day. There's just one small catch, it's only available at the bar. Which is not problem for me, because that is typically where I sit. My recent visit, I enjoyed a couple of Vodka Sodas and an order of Trashed Wings. OMG! Those wings were super crispy, juicy and meaty. Next time, I'll add an order of fries with my wing. It's not on the HH menu, but it will still be a perfect side. The bartender was attentive and hustled to take care of all the guest seated at the bar. If you plan things right, this HH could be a cheap date or an inexpensive dinner. read more

Warning: New ownership. Complete dumpster fire of a restaurant. What was once a staple of Dogtown is now a stain on the neighborhood. I was told it's under new ownership with an entirely new management team and staff. We were in the neighborhood looking at homes when our realtor mentioned, "It's a shame what happened to Seamus McDaniel's." Being stubborn, I figured maybe he'd just had a bad experience, so we decided to give it a chance anyway. He was right. I was wrong. We were seated on the back patio right next to the server station. We waited about 15 minutes expecting someone to at least take our drink order. Nothing. Our server stood there on her phone, occasionally looking over at us. I honestly assumed she was off the clock or on break. Eventually I went inside, grabbed two waters myself, and asked the bartender when someone was going to take our order. After I returned to the table with the waters, our server finally came over, apologized for the mix-up, and brought... two more waters. She literally watched me carry waters to the table before deciding to bring duplicates. Now we had four water cups crammed onto a tiny table and still hadn't gotten any food. Against my better judgment, we ordered two burgers with fries. About 30 minutes later, the food arrived lukewarm. The buns were dry and tough, and the burger itself had almost no flavor. I'm no chef, but I've honestly had microwaved gas station burgers with more seasoning. It felt like every burger is covered in sauce because the patty itself isn't seasoned enough. The fries were somehow even worse--burned to the point they were nearly black. I like crispy fries, but these were beyond overcooked. The most uncomfortable part came at the end. They bring a handheld card reader to the table and stand there watching while the tip screen pops up. After the service we received, that felt incredibly awkward. This feels like a management problem more than a server problem. Employees can only work within the standards they're given. Unfortunately, whatever made Seamus McDaniel's a neighborhood favorite seems to be gone. I'd skip it and head to Felix's Pizza Pub instead. read more

I've been going here forever and love it! You can't go wrong with their food. My favorite app is the Dunk the Veggies. Don't let the name fool you. It's mostly cheese. Their cheese sticks are enough for a family of four. And burgers are so tasty and plenty large! Inside in the winter is cozy and the patio is great in the summer. My husband and I have been coming to Seamus McDaniels for over 30 years. We love Susan & Jim. After Jim's passing Susan has done a great job at keeping it going. . We have moved over the years and don't live as close to there as before, but we still try to make it there a couple times a year. We went there today ordered wings for an appetizer our waitress brought them out they were in a little basket saturated in the sauce. We had to take them out and wipe them off before we could eat them when we dipped our wings in their wonderful ranch, it was different very bland. Then we went on to get our salad the waitress brought our salad dressing in a little container . It was totally plain old disgusting oil. I then said to waitress this isn't the right salad dressing I'ts usually a sweet Italian! Then we went on to get our cheeseburger and fries we told the waitress we were splitting it we need an extra plate , napkins. She brought the hamburger and fries in a little basket no napkins no plates we had to ask twice I finally said what is going on here? You never picked up our dirty dishes or our menus and the food is not the same! I said to her we went to use the ketchup and it squirted out on the plate like water. The waitress then said that the restaurant was under new ownership I said well I guess that explains everything we won't be back! We usually see Susan and say hi to her. We stopped in last night for a late-night dinner. We were able to snag a reasonable spot on the side street. As you walk through the main entrance, you walk right into the bar area and around the corner is the seating area for dinners. The bartender acknowledged us as we came in which was nice and seated us promptly. Our waitress Tina was very nice and stated we're known for our burgers, wings and something else I forgot. We ordered the double smash burger that came with extra cheese and bacon and a side of crinkle cut fries. For a place known for their burgers, the taste on the burger was highly disappointing. I expected waaay better. The bun on the burger was very off putting. It was not large enough for the burgers and toppings as well as it wasn't your typical burger bun, very dense and simply just didn't work. The fries were hot-n-fresh. We also ordered a 6pc wing which the wings were cooked as requested with a nice flavor. And a small onion ring which consisted of 4 exceptionally gigantic hot-n-fresh rings. The onion rings were literally just OK. They sell Seamus McDaniels merchandise at the end of the bar. The staff is pleasant but the food is lacking for bar food. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner last night. We were actually trying to go somewhere else but it was closed. My husband had been here before when he was in college so it was nostalgic for him. This place is a pretty typical bar on one side with a restaurant on the other side. We were seated quickly as the restaurant was pretty empty. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. I ordered an old fashioned, not the best drink but drinkable. My husband got a Manhattan and felt the same way. We both ordered the bacon and blue cheese burger. The burger was huge but delicious, had a good amount of toppings on it. The bar side of this place is pretty loud but the dining area was great! Only reason I am given a 4 instead of a 5 instead of 5, is the drinks. But def recommend the burgers. read more

We ordered some appetizers, mostly your fried bar food options, and some cocktails. I opted for an old fashioned which was pretty good for a place that isn't necessary whiskey cocktail heavy. All day happy hour on Sunday is amazing! The trashed wings are incredible. We got 3 orders of trashed wings for $15 and it was such a great portion and deal. They came out piping hot! The happy hour is unfortunately only at the bar inside (we really wanted to enjoy their patio but made the sacrifice for HH pricing). Had a little bit of time to kill between events that my friend and I were going to so we decided to stop here for a beer and an appetizer. They had fantastic appetizer specials. We decided to get the fried pepper jack cheese. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it. It did come with 10 good size cheese sticks and one small container of marinara sauce. I would definitely ask for a extra sauce next time. This was a good deal at the happy hour price of $6 or $5 if you got more than one happy hour appetizer. They were very good and we will definitely be back. Looking at the menu for the dining area, all of the food looked delicious. There are several items that I want to come back and try. Unfortunately this has gone from "our place" where all the staff knew us and our kids, to an absolute shell of itself. New ownership has had a really, really bad transition. One server and two bussers are still there, but everyone else is new and it's not going well. 5 minute wait times between seating and ordering drinks is now 15-20. Food times after ordering has gone from 15-20 to 30-45. We LOVE Seamus, but have unfortunately been avoiding over the last couple months. Ps: The BBQ sauce has changed! It was incredible, but is now something similar to H sauce. Edit: I will say that the new owner seems great, so hopefully they're receptive to feedback and this transition is a blip before things get back to being top shelf. read more

I came on a Saturday night and was very happy this was the suggestion. I love Dogtown and Seamus is such a staple for it. My party arrived before me, and we were seated in the second room by the window. Lots of tvs to watch a game and a good vibe. Our sever was super welcoming and attentive, talkative, and interactive. We ordered a bucket of beers to start. I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted, but ended up going the greens route with the buffalo chicken salad with crispy chicken. We love ~balance~. Loved how there was provel on the salad (always a plus) and their sauce wasn't too spicy or overwhelming. The ranch was definitely good- tons of people rave about it! A great spot to watch a game and enjoy good sandwiches and fries! In my booth no matter what side of the table you were seated you could see a screen. On a Saturday in the early dinner hour, most tables are occupied. I was observing the room and my order and others seemed to arrive quickly. I enjoyed to 10 oz burger and was not able to finish it. I was drawn to check out Seamus from a recent post on Instagram that highlighted their fries and sandwiches. I think on my return l definitely will try the turkey club and fries rather than the burger. The breeze was blowing and the service was quick. I had a smash burger of deliciousness. The hubbs had their signature 10oz burger that never disappoints! Unfortunately we had a pretty rough experience at Seamus's. The food (once delivered) was decent but the service was pretty bad and not kid friendly (at least for our young toddler). They didn't have any child glasses so they put a lid on a large plastic cup for our toddler's water - fine. But when we ordered her a lemonade they brought it out in a normal adult glass without a lid. We asked for a lid and the server brought one that didn't fit the cup and also did not leave a straw. We had to pour her water out and use that cup for her lemonade. My daughter's food was brought out (Mac n cheese) but we weren't given any utensils and had to go seek them out ourselves. Her kids meal was supposed to come with fries and we had to follow-up to request this because they weren't provided. My order was also incorrect. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad (which is normally a pretty great salad) but was brought a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was clear in correcting the order, they just scraped the chicken off the sandwich and reused it in making the salad resulting in the fried topping just lumped on top. After eating we waited 10min for our server to show up but ended up having to find a different server who could help us get checked out/locate our server. This place does not live up to the reviews at all--don't be fooled. From the moment we were seated, the service was terrible. Our first waiter took part of our order and then disappeared. We waited another 10 minutes before a different waiter came over just to take our drink orders. After we finally received our drinks, our server took our food order but was rude and kept walking away while we were still ordering. It took an hour and a half after being seated for our food to arrive, and even then, our order was wrong--twice. Tables that were seated 30 minutes after us, including a party of seven received their food before we did. We were repeatedly asked what we had ordered, yet still only received half of our food at first. When the rest of our food finally came out and was correct, it was cold and tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. The fries were stale and cold, and the wings were cold as well. If you're looking for a pub with rude, slow service and mediocre food, this might be the place for you--but honestly, you could get better food at a fast-food restaurant. You have to know what you're getting into with Seamus's. As long as you do, you'll love it. Seamus's is bar and tavern food and interior style. Lots of seating, so I never have a problem finding a table. The food is FANTASTIC. I especially think the Hot Wings and the Deep Fried Raviolis are well worth it. My boyfriend loves the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich which can also be a salad. We grabbed dinner last night at Seamus's to watch the STL SC game. When we sat down and NASCAR was on instead, a simple flagging of a waitress had the TVs changed before the game started. We ordered those favorites above and the Chicken Parm Sandwich. I didn't want the bread and requested it on lettuce instead. When the Chicken Parm came, the lettuce and onions came on the side for me to put together as I wished. Note: Seamus's does not have a drinks menu. I've included the waitress's written list as a photo here. When I say you have to know what you're getting into, I mean it's a sports bar with great food, but broken things everywhere. The booth we sat in has a gash through the cushion, one of the women's toilet doors is broken so you have to pick it up briefly to use it, one of the toilets tilts when you sit on it, and there is no formal drink menu. All of that said, the staff is so friendly and helpful and the food is great, so this continues to be a regular spot for us. read more

I'll start by saying this place used to be one of my go-to's. The food was always great, service was friendly, and it was a fun atmosphere. Emphasis on WAS. In the last at least year I've noticed the place going extremely downhill. I hate writing bad reviews on local businesses, but it's sad to see what this place now is. I tried to go here today for the third time, and it's the third time I've left without eating any food. The first time was a little over a year ago- we came in with 3 adults and a baby, stood at the hostess stand for over 5-10 minutes with no one to greet us, there were no customers in the dining room, a few people at the bar, and only 2 tables being used in the bar area. Who I assumed was the owner? just looked at us from outside of the kitchen. I finally asked if we could have a table and he said there were none available (false,) so we left. Second time- we tried to order carry out a few months later, got on the business's website, placed an order through it, and went to go pick up. About 30 minutes went by and I never received an email, which I thought was weird, so I called before I went in to ask if it was ready. The owner said they never got the order, and the company was suppose to have taken down the online ordering system because their iPads didn't work or something? Never offered a solution, nor offer to make us the food we ordered. Third time was today. I had just my toddler daughter with me, waited about 5 minutes at the hostess stand for someone to greet us. It may not seem like a lot to others, but 5 minutes to be greeted or said hello to is a lot for me, especially with a hungry kid. Finally got to our booth. Waited another 10 minutes, and still no one came to take even our drink order. Only about 4 other tables seated in the dining room, but no one had food in front of them. We left and went across the street to Felix's. I'm really sad that these are my last experiences, but third strike you're out. read more

I was a little late to meet with a couple people here, they said they did have to wait quite a bit to get in. Service was kinda slow and seemed really disconnected from our table. I liked the atmosphere of the place, definitely an Irish Pub. We sat on the porch and it was nice. It was about 15 minutes before they came to greet us or take a drink order. So that wasn't much fun. What a great spot in a great area! Seamus has a special place in my heart. I grew up 3 blocks from here in Dogtown and recall countless times as a kid walking past and wondering what it was like inside. Fast forward a bit and in my teens I took countless dates here, have been to numerous parties here, a class reunion, and its always the place i take people that are new to the area to show them what Dogtown is all about. So yes, I may be a little biased but lets get on to the food... Of course I've had nearly everything on the menu over the years, but most recently (and my go-to's) have been the Seamus cheese burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Appetizers are ALL fantastic with my favorites being the potato skins, fried mushrooms, and toasted raviolis. Wings are great as well, but usually I just get the chicken sandwich if I'm going that route. The pasta con broccoli is also a fantastic option as well as the Pork loin sandwich, just don't forget to get cheese to dip your fries, tots and sandwich in! And of course the ranch here is fabulous too if you like it a little thicker... I know if I go into my typical details on each item this review would be huge, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Bottom line... Seamus McDaniel's is a truly fabulous spot in the heart of Dogtown with a classic pub vibe and fantastic eats! I've NEVER been disappointed in the food, and the service is adequate considering the time of day you come and how busy they are at that moment. Their huge 10 oz. burger with grilled onions was filling and very good (after I picked off the red onions and pulled off the onion rings to eat separately, as they weren't allowed to modify the special burger). We went here on the way home from a trip to Missouri Botanical Gardens for the Christmas lights. We were quickly sat outside, which was fine, because it is enclosed, but it was kind of chilly out there, and it took our waitress a while to come over. My family and I used to be frequent flyers at Seamus, but this may be the last time I go there. The menu has shrunk astronomically since the last time I went. There are no more entree options, only burgers and sandwiches. The atmosphere of the inside of the restaurant has gone down, too. It looked really dingy and smelled of sewer water. I was part of a group that ate dinner and socialized at this restaurant. Definitely a pub atmosphere. The servers were helpful and friendly. Draft beer was not on tap due to an issue with the taps not working. They have many types of canned beer to make up for it. My Guinness was cold. There are soft drinks available. They were good, the beer was fine but the food was mediocre at best. One of the men in our group said his fish sandwich was good. There are multiple hot and cold sandwiches on the menu. I had a blue cheese sandwich on a bun. It was good, but could have been better if there had bacon. The ladies room was clean Parking was something to be searched for.
