Maybe because I came at the end of the day and they were past the rush, but they seemed flustered and it was just me and the owner at the bar. In any case, the brisket is solid, certainly gets the job done. Good smoke flavor, salt content is great. No complaints. The beans are also good. Loaded with pulled pork? We had a very small table for two and unfortunately, the table had difficulty holding our food, drink and silverware as it was pretty cramped. A larger table would have been helpful. The Cesar salad with smoked chicken was great, but I wish the dressing were a little thinner, as it was hard to spread on the salad. Stopped in while staying in Dogtown on a recent STL trip. We had called ahead to make sure they had the basketball game on and space for us, we walked in and they already had a table setup for us. The server/bartender was very attentive, had great suggestions for ordering, and then gave us recommendations on a few other local things to check out while in town. She took great care of us and our kids! Everything we ate was delicious, ribs, frito pie, stuffed Mac and cheese, beans. We would've tried the brisket but they were out. First time visit to this one. We were greeted quickly by the super nice waitress / bartender there. She gave us some options on where to sit and asked if we had been in before. She explained the menu to us and gave us a couple recommendations, one that we took. We got there and the atmosphere was fun. Games on the TVs, but what was really funny for us, was the very nice group of regulars that were there at the bar and the table next to us.. They were waiting for Wheel of Fortune to come on, honestly just on first impressions alone, I feel they would have let us join in on the fun if we asked :) Food was amazing. My wife got a French Dip and I got the Southtown. Both came out as fast as you would expect a sit down place to come out. No complaints at all. The meats were amazing! The chicken with the white bbq sauce was awesome, and the roast beef was perfect. Overall, super fun environment, nice people, and amazing food. Inside and outside seating, cool place. Hogtown is for sure in my Top 3 BBQ places in the country! The food here is absolutely incredible! It's a very unassuming looking place, but the food speaks for itself. Our bartender, Madi, was excellent! They were nice enough to put on the game we wanted to watch as well. I forgot my credit card at the bar when we left, but Madi ran outside and made sure that I got it back. We couldn't have asked for a better experience at Hogtown. The Brisket was dead-on-arrival. It always amazes me when restaurants will serve food that tastes more than 2 days old. Huge disappointment. Seemed to me that the coals or charcoal wasn't all the way ready when the meat went into the smoker because there was "that petroleum taste" The waitress was cheerful, helpful and attentive. I tried the tangy and sweet. Both were good. The ribs were moist falling off the bone. Very good. Bad: the Mac &Cheese. It is mediocre and bland. Not cheesy and the crumbles on top made this dish a bit dry. A word of caution is that the ribs do not include sides so adding the M&C incurred $6 for this side. Service was very good. We ordered the Southtown and the Cuban sandwiches to split as we couldn't decide. Sandwiches come with 1 side, which are house made. I ordered the applesauce and my husband ordered the potato salad. The sandwiches were great. Sometimes I hesitate to order pulled chicken as it can be dry. Not here. The chicken was perfect and was not overly sauced. The applesauce was amazing...smooth with the perfect amount of chunks. The Cuban was one of the best I've had outside of a Cuban restaurant. The menu offered unusual sandwich options, which I love! I ordered the Loaded Pulled Pork Sandwich. The pork is tossed in the sauce you pick, I picked sweet, then pork is placed on a large toasted hoagie roll, with their wonderful creamy coleslaw added on top. It was fantastic. I thought it would be too much bread but it melted in your mouth with the perfect amount of toasted crunch. My husband had the ribs. The meat fell off the bone with ease. He loved them! We ordered a loaded pulled pork sandwich that came with potato salad and a brisket sandwich that came with their pit beans. Both meats were delicious and potions were plentiful. The potato salad was mustard based and very tasty. The pit beans were amazing!! Such a wonderful smoky flavor!! The star of our order was the Frito Pie!! This appetizer was so freaking good. As you would expect, the base was Frito corn chips smothered with a lightly spiced cheese sauce, pulled pork and hot peppers with a ranch based dressing!! Delicious!!
