Breading is light, kinda falls off the tender when you bit into it. Fries were good, some in my family thought they had a little spice to them, I didn't notice anything. Have anxiously been waiting to try Byrds hot chicken and it didn't disappoint . We ordered the two tender combo which comes with your choose of sides. I ordered both Hot spiced and they are true to the spice. They were HOT! The fries were spiced nicely and crispy. The mac and cheese was lukewarm, still good but would of been better if it was hot . We also ordered the donut fried chicken sandwich . Surprisingly it was very good and not too sweet. All the flavors complimented each other . With so many good chicken places people will have different tastes. My taste buds would choose Byrd's if I want the spice but Chick-fil-A on other days. We have enjoyed Byrds Hot Chicken in Novi twice now - the first time for my son's birthday in February and today, just because! The food is consistent, hearty and delicious. I especially love the crunchy coating on the chicken. Yum! Although the menu is very simple, it works like a charm with several customizable options and it really seems to hit the spot. I find that the set up of this cafe-style restaurant is chic and perfect for a city like Novi. The choice of colors, textures, furniture and the overall ambiance are very tastefully coordinated. The owners, though, are really what stand out. They make an effort to provide excellent customer service, are very friendly and take time with each customer to make sure that their order is well placed and explained. Fries and potato salad are included which helped out the value. I ordered my sandwich hot and it was perfect for me. No sweat, no tears but still spicy. It's way up on the list of the dozen places I've been to serving hot chicken. I do wish it was a full chicken breast but still an amazing sandwich, fries and potato salad. A little pricey for the size of the portion compared to a some other spots, but that's kinda expected for a halal spot in Novi. Tasty chicken with a variety of spice levels to choose from and decent sides, love hot chicken places where you can customize the heat. Have yet to experience any bad customer service, the employees are always very kind respectful and helpful! Havent experienced any wait time that wasn't unreasonable either, especially considering we came during Ramadan.
