I wanted to like this place. It's clean and affordable and has lots of my faves on the menu. The Greek Salad was fresh, the lemon rice soup, too thick for my liking. But that's just a personal opinion. The reason for the two star rating, the service. I felt "hounded" by a waitress who appeared far more interested in begging me to come back in the future than providing a level of service which in itself, would encourage I'd be back. We had 6 people eating breakfast all of our breakfast were cold or eggshells in the omelettes, the biscuits and gravy tasted like flour. The waitress Danielle was amazing. She got the manager for us. He told us if we didn't like the food here we should go somewhere else. Isn't the manager supposed to keep you coming back? Westside is my local favorite joint. If I need some good, healthy food, served by an authentically nice person, this is where I go! I have been a loyal customer since they opened in the first building. Today I found out that they are closing for a week so the employees can have a vacation. I have never heard of a restaurant doing this, but I'm so very impressed. I know the owner values his employees because they stay. There isn't constant turn over. Had the fish and Mac on a Friday. Fish was fantastic, cooked to perfection and very good flavor. Now maybe it was an odd situation but the Mac was a little on the dry side, definitely not a creamy style. If I could rate less that one star I would. Should of known to stay away because I knew a server who used to work there that warned me to never eat at this restaurant. In all my years, I have never came across something so gross in my food. This bug was served to me with my side of vegetables. How someone didn't notice is beyond me, but I will certainly never return to this establishment. There are several good waitresses, and there are some that are should never work in the service industry another day in their life. I've finally got up the nerve (time) to try this place out. As you'd expect it is very Coney Island like (not a phrase, I know). That being said, I got two coneys and some fries. Which is how I test out new coney islands. Because if you can't make that right, you are in the wrong market. That being said,... It was meh at best. I've had lots of coney dogs in my life, and to be blunt, this was one of less appetizing ones. While the hot dog itself had a great snap (important part two to me) the chili fell COMPLETELY flat to me (most important to me). It seriously tasted microwaved from a can, and not even touched up on seasonings. I had forgotten to ask for no onions, so this is partially my fault, but the dogs were smothered in more onion than chili, which to someone who doesn't like onion, is a complete turn off. When I got done picking the onions off, I was left with possibly a tablespoon of chili. The fries were okay, but won't order them again. It seemed like they tried for a seasoned double fry approach, but all I got was complete grease. They put it in a small styrofoam container with nothing to help absorb the grease, so when I got home (two minutes from the place) it had already eaten through the styrofoam and it was a battle to get some that didn't have piece melted onto it. On top of that, they just tasted like grease fried grease. I'm not picky about fries normally, make them crispy and hot and I'm good. These were I edible because I was afraid to eat the pieces of styrofoam. Needless to say, I'll avoid this place like the plague. On another note I only dealt with the staff for about five minutes, but I could feel that nobody wanted to be there. The woman who checked me out didn't smile once and was very blasé. read more

I just popped in here for the first time last week. It was way after the lunch rush (after 2:00) and I was just hoping to grab a quick salad. It was pretty quiet at that time and I sat at the counter. I had a warm greeting and was offered something to drink quickly. I ordered the chicken Greek salad. Now let's be honest. When you order chicken anything at 2:00 you often have to brace yourself for the dry left over chicken from the earlier lunch rush. This is why there are 4 stars - it wasn't dry! It was clearly freshly made at 2:00 in the afternoon! I was stunned. The salad was pretty good. It had all the standard inclusions (no chick peas but not everyone includes those) but it did have all the rest. The dressing was a touch tart for my liking but really no major complaints. Waitstaff did check on me. The only challenge was getting the attention of the waitress when I wanted my check to leave. Though there were only a few people dining - she was the only one serving. This was my first time visiting and I'm absolutely in love! I ordered the build your own omelette with onions, grilled chicken, broccoli, spinach and mushrooms. We loved the staff - everyone was very nice and friendly and our waitress was sweet! There seem to be a lot of regular customers familiar with the staff. The food, on the other hand, was not great. We ordered waffles (for brunch) and had to wait b/c they "forgot to turn the waffle iron on". They were nice about it though. Once the waffle came, tasted like a standard box mix I make at home, no frills, although I thought it might be a bit fancier due to the fact I ordered Strawberry Waffles, but disappointed with the bowl of strawberry pie filling dropped off with the waffle. read more

Stopped here after a meeting on my way out of town and I'm glad I picked this place over going to any other place in the area. It was a great, cheap meal that really hit the spot. I got the chicken hoagie sub (chose to sub in a pita) and it was bigger than I expected it to be. The chicken was fresh and hot, the bacon was plentiful, and it came with a side of ranch to add to my overall sandwich. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as well. This is a typical Coney Island with good food. Breakfast is always good. I get the veggie omelette with hash browns, always delicious. My other favorite is the Greek salad. The place is meh. The food is unremarkable. We tried the breakfast and my hubby's corned beef hash was greasy and lacking actual corned beef. The meat was sparsely throughout a bed of ALOT of onions and hashbrowns. My eggs were overcooked and we both did not like the coffee. We probably will not return given the choice. read more

If you like Greek Salads, you have to try this place! The Chicken Greek Salad is so good; the chicken is moist and delicious. The Greek dressing is tasty, too. I called and ordered them to go and I said "2 chili cheese DOGS just chili and cheese" my boyfriend went to get them for me and the lady said I told her chili cheese fries and that she repeated my order back, well she didn't do that.. Apparently here in order to have great service or great food you must not be any other race besides white! Sad but true! EACH time I have visited this diner my experience was tanted from the ladies at the register blantantly ingoring me and assisting others comin in or not even askin a question to anything to avoid eye cantact to the waitress telling me " let me get you the hot sauce" as if I asked for or would even put hot sauce on an egg omelette although some may but to make a reference..not so much! They get 1 star because I went back 3 sep times. One of the better breakfasts I've had in a while. Strange how a lot of places can't poach an egg. Theirs was PERFECT! Crisp bacon, good coffee, real cream and the toast was buttered! Yum! ***Update: I went in today and had a Greek veggie pita and a cup of their navy bean (soup of the day). It was absolutely delicious! Normally I go to Leo's Coney Island but this was closer to my job so I thought I would give it a try. It was way better than Leo's! Evidently about 90% of their food is all homemade. The Greek dressing and Tziki (sp) sauce was amazing. The beets had a lot of flavor and the pita bread was very good. Great job! I will be coming here for my veggie pita fix from now on. One negative note..... their clocks are slow so while they publish that they open at 7 AM they really open at 7:04 AM. And I was informed this morning that they go by THEIR clocks. It must be nice to have enough customers that you can afford to be snotty. I just went across the parking lot to another restaurant that was open on time. I have to be at work by 7:30. read more
