We were in town for a family emergency. Yesterday, we tried another place that wasn't great, so today we saw Bytes and decided that it couldn't be worse than yesterday. It was fabulous! My husband had a grilled chicken rice bowl and I had a Build Your Own bowl. The owner was very accommodating while I asked questions about sauces and whatnot. The portions are large, the flavors are great (how did this place end up in Saginaw?), and the service is charming. If you are puzzling over what to order, no matter what you choose, definitely go with the garlic sauce! We had both versions of the plain lassi and they were equally excellent. We highly recommend Bytes. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because the ladies' room needed attention to the fixtures (ick). That can be easily remedied with cleanser and a brush, but it is important. read more

The food is here incredible. I had the chicken shawarma bowl and my husband had the lamb. So so good and fresh. The owner is so kind and works with dietary/allergen restrictions. Bytes is a fun and fresh fusion on Pakistani cuisine with Western cuisine. With a friendly and hospitable service, fresh ingredients and zesty interior, Bytes is by far one of the best restaurants in tri-city area. The only criticism I will provide is that sometimes food might take longer to come out because the restaurant might be swamped with orders and also understaffed that day. But the wait is totally worth it! I love the garlic sauce - that pairs well with anything really! And the Lahori Chole is one of a kind speciality. My personal favorite is the Bytesdilla with vinegar vegetables. Highly recommend!!! read more

The owner is super nice and very accommodating -he added 65 sauce in our kid's chicken/rice combo. In general the food was underwhelming. I had chicken vindaloo bowl - big chuncks of chicken breast on top of rice, chickpea and some veggies. A little tangy for my taste. My wife has chicken tandoori with rice - she didn't enjoy hers. They have a ton of options and a pretty big dining area - considering other people's review, i feel like we ordered the wrong items. Love love Bytes! All the food is fabulous and fresh, their puffs are so good, hummus is made to order, shawarma is excellent and the fries are my favorite. It's also my adult kids' favorite place to go when they come to visit. Don't expect fast food--they're making from scratch and usually have just one or two staff. But if you don't mind a bit of a wait, it is so worth it. And get a to go box--chances are you won't be able to finish everything! read more

Stopped here for the first time this evening and I am really satisfied with it. I had a craving for Mediterranean food and didn't actually know what kind of food they did until I walked in the door. Was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had Shawarma on the menu. I did the Shawarma pita, my wife did the Shawarma bowl. I think next time I will probably do a bowl. Good flavor, fresh, solid portions. I went with the medium spice option and it was still quite mild which I'm glad. (Sometimes spice in Mediterranean can get crazy) I also did a garlic and butter flatbread which may have even been the star of the show! The food was delicious and the business is in a little plaza of other businesses. The last time I had went, it was quite pricey & the service was very delayed. I'm only assuming because they were busy/short staffed. If you're willing to wait, then of course by all means go here. I decided to try Bytes. I don't think they have been open very long. It is an old Texan restaurant and not much has changed inside. They tried to make it like a Chipotle or Qdoba in their ordering system. Unfortunately it is really confusing and the order process took almost 10 minutes for 4 people. The menu on the wall is laid out really poorly and you have to step away from the counter just to see all the options you can order. It would have been much better to have a sit down menu and have a server take your order, since the food is delivered to the table anyway. I thought the food would arrive quickly but it took about 15 minutes for 3 of the 4 meals. They all came out at different times and the rice bowl was missing the rice. The fourth meal was the simplest (a burrito) and it took the longest. Then it was the wrong order. So they said give us 2 minutes to make another. But 15 minutes later I had to go to the counter and ask where my food was. It was sitting on the counter and no one had delivered it. The burrito was in a pita, but at this point we were not going to wait another 15 minutes. On other patron yelled at the owner for the poor service. The food itself was really tasty, but the whole service and Texan like atmosphere really soured the experience for us. I really hope they get the service figured out, because I won't go back until I hear good reviews about the service. I also thought the portion size was small, compared to a Qdoba. I also am disappointed that they make you pay and encourage 18-25% tips before you get your food. I would not have left a tip with the service being so poor, and the only person that came to the table was a guy that ran out to deliver our food, but he didn't do anything else to deserve a tip. He definitely didn't even ask if we needed anything or liked our food. read more

Such. Good. Flavors! We ordered the curry fries (amazing!), the beef/lamb shawarma (the sauce was to die for!), and the salt and vinegar beef burrito (it was bigger than my arm!). First off, if anyone rates this place above 2 stars, they must either work for Bytes, or not get out much. Unfortunately, I've been there 4 times. Here are my experiences. The first time we had to wait 35 minutes for three entrées that staff told us would be out quickly, that's not that bad and definitely not a deal breaker... just frustrating. The second trip gave me some unwanted & free entertainment by watching the staff try to work at the register. I watched an employee completely botch my meal three times and I had to wait over 40 minutes to get my food. They apologized but did nothing to rectify the situation. When the staff apologized they were even laughing. The staff ruined so many customers meals right in front of me that they had to lock the doors while I was still inside of the restaurant JUST to re-train the entire staff. It seemed that one employee was more focused on smoking every cigarette in his pack than actually selling food. A sign placed on the front door stated "closed for staff training". As I was leaving the manager had to unlock the door so I could leave because they closed the restaurant due to poor quality control while I was still inside. The next time I was there was to pick up a to go order and I had to make to return trips back to the restaurant because they forgot various contents to the meal. I know you're probably wondering why I kept returning, but truthfully the food wasn't bad and Saginaw doesn't have much of a shawarma selection. Here's the best part... My fourth visit I brought my coworkers with me and three of them received their entrées and finished eating before the fourth even got their food. After we asked about the hold up, the staff member said it would be right out, but it wasn't. They actually forgot about it again, and had to send a spaced out colleague to the restaurant floor with a pen and notebook to write down my coworkers order again. When they finally brought the food out... the protein was wrong and the sauce was missing!!! It actually looked like someone else's order. After that, I had my antennas up and was looking around the restaurant at the other two families eating their food. As the same spaced out staff member visited their tables and asked how their food was, I overheard both families say the meals were completely incorrect per their order and they would never return to the restaurant again. Nothing ever did come out of the man with the notebook taking down our complaints. I guess it was just for looks. Sorry guys but it seemed like it was more of a halfway house than a restaurant and if anyone wants middle eastern quinine, I recommend driving the extra 5 minutes and visiting Sandweesh Mediterranean Grill. They're not much better but at least they understand basic customer service. Hopefully they figure it out because the foods not bad, just the employees!! read more

This restaurant has a huge variety of food. And each food item has a finger licking taste. The fusion food like shawarma sandwich , fries, bun kebab were all amazing. The salt and vinegar beef melts in your mouth, the samosas are beyond anything I've ever had, the flavors in the loaded fries, the crisp buttery bread of the Stromboli, the richness of the brownie! You can't deny that if they keep up the awesome food and make some tweaks to service and ambiance this place could be great. We tried a variety of different meals, from a Lamb and Beef Schwarma rice bowl (Awesome! try all the toppings) to a Chicken Vendaloo burrito, to a stromboli and puff plates. Everything was fabulous. Worst food ever! 2 of us went and both ended up sick afterwards! Menu is some kind of crazy! It's all over the place ethnically which we would have loved but nothing was as the ethnic origin would actually be! Quite deceiving! Quality was poor. One of the things we Ordered was mixed beans that were clearly not beans! Legumes and ? Mystery ingredients! The chicken had no flavor! Which was utterly disappointing as you would think with the ethnic portrayal they would have had some flavor from one of the ethnic spice arrays! Nope nada! We certainly can't recommend them nor will we go back! This is a perfect example of people that do not have restaurant experience and just wing it!
