I always love the store. Great resources, great people, good products, and I seem to always find what I need. I was a bit surprised today when I was presented with the front doors of the store requiring masks. When I entered the store, there were three store workers at the checkout stand, none of which were wearing masks. I retrieved my product at the back of the store with the help of yet another store employee who WAS wearing his mask. I probably passed about five customers in the store, none of whom were wearing masks at all. So clearly the sign on the front of the store is not slightly enforced. PLEASE at a time when COVID infection rates are at their highest and ICU departments in hospitals are busting at the seams, please commit to do your part. Today was the day where the medical officer of the Utah State Department of Health expressed extreme frustration in peoples unwillingness to own some of this responsibility. I have already known several who have passed away and know at least a dozen or more who have had the virus. Cal-Ranch, please take my health and your health more seriously. I am use to Cavender's in Texas. I have to say there are small selections of each known Western brands and their Cowboy hat selection is very limited. I am a taller gentleman so I was able to find a few things. I would compare this store to Tractor Supply versus a traditional western store. read more

The service here always tries although they at times may not have the ideal knowledge base in some niche categories. As somewhat of a prepper this is my favorite store. Most of there items are mid to upper mid quality. Personally, I'm thankful to have one here in town. It's where I buy all my chicken and bbq supplies. read more

Have always liked CAL Ranch, this was my first bad experience. Don't go in and expect the manager to help, 'tell customers I'm too busy if they ask' Just needed something behind the counter and we would've paid and been gone but apparently the manager's other duties are more important than serving customers. read more

Good customer service but the store is so disorganized and half the merch has no price tags. Parking lot was redone and it's terrible. Everything with this place is done half way. Won't be going back unless I have to. read more

I have loved Cal Ranch through the years! Totally disappointed today. Manager totally unresponsive or understanding. Apparently there is a lack of potential leadership at the Layton store. She could care less about customers!!!! $3 is little to pay for a happy customer. Make the drive to Smith and Edwards!!! read more

The street sign was advertising Big Hunk candy bars for $0.99 each. We used to go to CR in NorCal and had good experiences so we stopped in. Parked in front of the store and went in. Long story short, CR had "just sold out" of Big Hunks (even though there was already a different item in the spot on the shelf). Bought some sasperillas and went to leave only to find some clown employee had parked a forklift directly behind my vehicle. Had to go back in and ask the catatonic employee to track down the genius forklift operator. Jug-head finally showed up, failed to apologize and moved out of my way so I could leave. Probably won't be coming back, for what its worth. read more

because of this stores lack of knowledge I had to put my two chickens down. They had them labeled as LAYING HENS and a couple months later they couldn't walk because they where meat chickens (they told us they would give us eggs). and then get this. I got two more chickens (and I looked up the breed so we knew they weren't meat chickens) and now he have a hen and rooster even though they told us they had the males and females separated. Very nice and cute clothes and decor. However, the emergency exit door was extremely dirty.

Lots of clothes (casual, working and dress) for men women and children. Good selection of tools and yard related items and cute stuff for your home. The prices are comparable to IFA, Tractor Supply and Smith and Edwards. Comparable enough, I swear they all use the same price tags. I like this store a lot. read more

This is a store for convenience. Nothing is cheaper than other locations & I rarely have had a better than average interaction with any of the employees. Last night tipped the scales for me. I showed up as they were beginning to close. I asked if I was able to grab a specific tool that I desperately needed & could actually see from the front where I was standing. I got a stern 'No, we're closing.' I understand that they were closing & I wouldn't be upset other than the cashiers were just standing there... Mckayla is not impressed. read more

I like the Cal-Ranch store. It's silly to expect it to have prices like Walmart or a hardware selection like Lowes. It is exactly what it calls itself, a ranch store, a place where a rancher or a cowboy can come in, buy a hat, or a rope or a halter, maybe pick up some feed for an animal or rat poison to kill critters. I'm neither cowboy or rancher, but I love it's eclectic merchandise and the way I feel when I walk in the place... Like I've parked my buck wagon outside and have come to the country store to stock up for the next month. And in truth, I have purchased a surprising amount of merchandise there because it was exactly what I needed for an odd ball job, and not available anywhere else. read more

The only reason I keep going back here is because there is an America first credit union branch inside. I was on my way to a birthday party later that day and needed a toy, I went down the toy isle and found a tractor with an on sale sticker saying the toy was now $18 I went up to pay and the tractor rang up as $26 the girl checked the bar codes and they all matched up she asked 'cal' to help her and he came over looked over the stickers and computer and said well sorry this isn't on sale anymore, he ripped the on sale sticker off and said I'll give it to you for 10% off $26. Obviously their fault and for the type & quality of tractor I said no thanks. I went to target and got almost the exact same tractor except this new one from target had buttons to make noises AND it was only $13. Thanks for saving me more money cal ranch by me not giving you business! When will they customer service? read more
