Sahara Dental honestly did not have to admit me for examination this week when I asked if Dr Chammas could please check a toothache (which had become sore enough for me to stop eating for a day: I'd decided to wait a few months before having further dental work done, in order for dental insurance benefits to replenish in 2026): I was a little under the weather in a number of ways early this week. The whole office worked together to make my visit possible- and pleasant: they brightened my day, which ended up being more productive than I had even hoped- buoyed up by my morning dental appointment there! Dr Chammas was as informative and thorough as always- and so positive and supportive (I cannot say enough about her: if I could give her a ten-star rating, I would- including for her honesty and integrity about, for example, specifying risks as well as benefits of choosing one course of action/treatment over another. She has always been informed about new products on the market that I've asked about, and never once has seemed to be more concerned about dollars than my welfare and comfort with my dental decisions): Dr Chammas even let me know this week that my manual tooth brushing recently (instead of the usual electric toothbrushing...to protect a partially completed implant) proved more effective at removing plaque on all my teeth than electric toothbrushes had been for years: I can maneuver a manual toothbrush around my small mouth more easily than a bulkier electric toothbrush...so you might give manual toothbrushing a try, too, if you haven't for a while and reports at your teeth cleanings have been disappointing). ...And then it may not be worth mentioning, but I've sometimes thought that it seems almost unfair to "The Rest of Us" that Dr Chammas is frankly BEAUTIFUL, too(! Could not such gifts have been distributed a bit more equitably around the population?): In my mind, she could pass for a movie star or runway model any day (certainly tall enough!)...except, perhaps, for the facts that she is always SO informative: SO smart- and caring, and such a good listener; maybe a bit too reserved and kind to be a hot-shot celebrity type? In any event, Metro Boston hit the jackpot when Hollywood and the Grand Palais lost out on this one: we are most fortunate to have Dr Chammas as a *dentist* here, and I just hope lots of other dentally concerned folks like me will stop in to discover what a gem we have! My recent experience was also that X-rays at Sahara Dental were quick and comfortable (no gagging, or request needed to find a stabe to fit the laser-aiming mechanism into my tiny mouth)- so I thank them for updating the equipment/tech (and training), as needed, for us patients as well as the dental assistants. And- Alex at the front desk has been tremendously helpful this whole week, too: Because of his attention to detail, I double-checked to confirm that my dental insurance covers three teeth cleanings per year instead of two. Alex also kindly expedited some files' electronic transmission so I can better determine what to do next about my latest problem tooth- regarding which Dr Naji also stepped in to clarify the current situation for my further consideration. The front desk isn't very knowledgeable. I asked about HSA direct pay and received a confused look. Someone came to complain about an insurance billing error. The front desk clerk had trouble responding and did not seem to understand what was clearly explained, leading to frustration for the patient. They do not know how to schedule patients. I was asked to come an hour earlier only to be seen after my original appointment time. While I was being attended to, another patient demanded to see the Dr. performing my root canal, in the middle of the root canal. Staff did not know how to calm this patient down so they kept telling the doctor that the patient wanted to see him. It was as if they thought the doctor was going to stop my procedure. I could tell the doctor hadn't read my chart by the questions that were asked. He confirmed it when he realized I was the case another doctor had discussed with him, while drilling my teeth... The dentist and dental assistant clearly did not know each other judging the office gossip being discussed. The root canal went as well as a root canal could go. It took about 3 hours. The filling fell out about 2 weeks later. I need another root canal (different tooth) and would not dare return to this office. I'm going to another endodontist anf my primary dentist is doing my crowns. And I better not have a billing "error" as I have read in reviews and seen in person. read more

This week, Karine provided excellent service cleaning my teeth--manually (since a dentist had found plaque building in some gum pockets), which takes longer than ultrasound, but she made no complaint about the additional time required. She also recommended for my teeth **waxed nylon floss** because it is tough enough to not shred on my dental work, and she gave me a sample to try out at home. Karine and Dr Han were wonderfully attentive to answering all my questions--even suggesting as a gift for my niece and nephew (who I fear will run into big problems with their teeth in years to come, if they don't practice better dental hygiene: one still in college already has suffered a root canal) the third edition of "Case Studies In Dental Hygiene" (3rd Edition) by Evelyn M. Thomson, which Dr Han mentioned is as interesting/riveting as a mystery novel, offering clues that the reader has to interpret/diagnose...or else it was suggested that I could give my niece and nephew electric toothbrushes. I was especially relieved to learn that some tooth roots I had worried about are still ok--no root canal needed--despite some sensitivity to temperature that apparently is due to gum recession. In fact, the Colgate toothpaste for Sensitive teeth that Karine suggested I try has been working great: I felt no sensitivity to cold at Sahara when my teeth were specifically checked for sensitivity in a recent visit--and Sahara Dental very kindly did not charge me for that consultation. I also had the pleasure of using Sahara's restroom to brush my teeth before my appointment--right after the restroom had been cleaned: I have never seen a restroom so sparklingly BRIGHT!! My expectations for restroom cleanliness may be spoiled for life now that Sahara has raised the bar so much! Came to Sahara Dental for a cleaning today and it was an unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I chose this place after seeing great Google reviews, so if you're looking for a new dentist, please do your research and check out the Yelp reviews too :/ The check in experience felt very disorganized. As I was trying to check in, the receptionist got distracted and walked away (I understand things come up but any acknowledgement of what was going on would've been helpful) and then someone took her place and proceeded to help another customer. I was left awkwardly waiting several minutes and had to be the one to follow up with the original receptionist on whether I had been checked in since there was no communication. Luckily, her colleague helped me out, so I chalked this up to it being maybe a new employee still in training. The dental hygienist had a long delay while she was prepping her supplies and left the room again (usually at other dental offices, the room is prepped and it takes a few minute max before things start). She was nice enough, but there was also very little communication on what was happening next, since she skipped plaque/teeth cleaning and only did light polish and flossing. And then I waited another 20 minutes for the dentist to come in. I found out she'd handle the rest of the cleaning, but it felt less thorough than usual (it took 2 minutes and I had a lot of water sprayed on my face compared to usual cleanings). This part was also very uncomfortable and also left my gums bleeding, which is not normal either. The whole experience was negative and unfortunately I do not recommend this place. read more

BE AWARE: if you want to be treated with any professionalism, please reconsider going to Sahara Dental. My experience there was shockingly unreasonable and awful. Just days ago, I communicated with an employee about my orthodontist's concern, and was reassured that it wouldn't be a prob. But Dr. Han didn't bring it up at all. So, right after the treatment, I asked if she could kindly check my biting after the filling changes, but she just wanted me to CHECK BY MYSELF when my lower face was obviously IN NUMBNESS. How can anyone think it's possible or safe to check or feel if Invisalign trays still fits when patient's face is technically NUMB? I had a hard time putting the tray back and when I did, of course, it accidentally pinched my mouth because I was NUMB. Dr. Han looked didn't bother to check the tray or tell me that my mouth was pinched (I noticed that by myself); she just looked at it for seconds when I was still standing (I'm much taller so I'm not sure if she could really see anything on my treated lower teeth) and left the room... I understand that medical professionals can be super busy nowadays, and that just before the treatment started Dr. Han and the nurse were complaining about how some employee wasn't willing to put more gaps between schedules even if she told them to many times, but the patients' professional treatments and basic human feelings matter too and they shouldn't be a cost of the clinic being so disorganized. Also, an employee at front desk couldn't find my dental discount plan info on patient file (although I just used it there two weeks ago) and intended to charge about twice of the treatment plan price, until I reminded her that it might be somewhere in the messages. read more

Went in for my first visit today. I wish I could give it 0 stars. The hygienists all seemed to be in training. The MD I had was great and told me to get some impressions for retainers. So I did. Except none of the staff knew how to properly do them. The dentist was saying "For retainers, we can use highland". He had to come in and redo the top that another staff member did. He did the bottom as well and someone in the room asked "Oh, we can do the top and bottom at the same time?" It very much felt like a dental school that is part of a teaching hospital. I will say that the DMD I had did try to connect with me and the staff tried to make me laugh. read more

I called the clinic to find out about Endodontis. The clinic said that it does not have such a doctor. This was at the beginning of March 2024. On March 30, I receive a bill of $390.00 where the date is indicated as March 23 and nothing else. On March 23, I was completely absent from Boston. I always pay for my dental insurance but not in cash. Many years ago I was in this clinic and saw the deception. They accepted my insurance at the time but later canceled that insurance. I had a bad experience . Before any procedures or anything after cleaning and X-rays , I always asked them about the estimate prices and I hat my insurance covers and not. That time they gave me an estimate and I paid my part and they said I was fine. Then months later they sent me the bill of $208 . I wasn't sure about it and they said my insurance didn't cover it and now I have to pay them. ***I don't recommend this place . They don't care about you. I can't say enough good things about this place, especially my experience with Dr. Risha Deleon. I recently had a bad fall that resulted in a chipped front tooth (winter does not agree with this California girl) on a Friday night, and Sahara got me in on a Saturday morning for a temporary bonding just in time for a big work conference I had starting Monday and made me look as good as new! My follow up visits since then have been just as seamless. Risha is amazing, as her assistant, Lira. I can't believe a dental office was open on weekends (BOTH Saturday and Sunday), let alone accepting distraught walk-ins the day off. I've instantly switched my primary dental care office to Sahara as a result. Thank you, Dr. Zaid and Dr. Saif, for employing such a great staff. read more

I loved my experience here - I was new to the area and couldn't find any health care providers in my area that took my insurance. My roommate was having a great experience here so I decided to give it a chance and I'm happy I did!! The front desk staff was so nice and very helpful, answered all of my questions. Super clean inside as well. The dental hygienist and dentist were extremely nice and we were making jokes the entire time. Made me feel very good about my oral hygiene! Although most of the staff is fairly friendly, I had a very poor experience here. My teeth were causing me a significant amount of pain, which the Dr. at Sahara explained to me was due to grinding my teeth at night. He recommended a mouth guard so my teeth would be protected at night, a prescription toothpaste and pain relieving gel. He also explained that the mouth guard is not covered by insurance and would cost me $600 (I later found out most dentists charge $400-$500 at most). I was than told the toothpaste was $80 and the gel to relieve my pain $70. However, if I chose to do the mouthguard, he would throw in the two pain relievers for a deal. It felt more like a conversation I would have with a used car salesman, rather than a Dentist who's job is supposed to me helping me. I ended up agreeing to the mouthguard and the pain relievers due to my discomfort. Long story short, both the gel and toothpaste did absolutely nothing for my pain and it is now a month later, I have been wearing the mouthguard repeatedly every night, and it has made my pain WORSE. The Dr. at Sahara Dental gave me a bottom mouthguard, which after consulting with another dentist, it is almost never recommended for people who grind their teeth at night. I was also told that almost all mouth-guards require adjustments, which no one at Sahara ever did for me. I have had to be fitted for a brand new (upper) mouthguard at a different dentist and will have to pay once again (not as much $ as Sahara charged me however.) The worst part is that I have re-visited the office 2 times and STILL have yet to be seen by my original doctor. Sahara Dental has strong Yelp reviews, however if you are a teeth grinder like I am, I would strongly recommend you go elsewhere. $600, a lot of back and forth to Brookline, and I am right back to where I started. read more

I had an extremely horrible experience at Sahara in December of 2020 with a wisdom tooth extraction. There was a lot of negligence that took place during my visit, and I ended up with a severe infection - that I and can almost guarantee resulted from the care I received here - leaving me without the ability to eat or speak clearly for a month. Safe to say I never returned. Now, nearly 3.5 years later, I received a bill out of nowhere that is allegedly for this service (but I have sincere doubts), but it has been impossible to get anyone on the phone to discuss the matter. The kind front desk workers have let me know they have been advised not to direct calls or provide a phone number to the billing department, and the only person I've been able to reach via email does not respond and will not connect me with someone to talk on the phone, despite me asking to just understand what is going on several times. I cannot recommend this dentist to anyone, not only due to the poor service I received, but now the shady behavior that is occurring years after the fact. read more

This is an update after 4 years of experience I meant to update way sooner then this since what had taken place was back in December when the nightmare ended and it started in September after being a patient at they're practice for 4 years alot has changed. Sorry to say for the worse. I had a root canal performed I had to come back 3 more times just to complete the service then I had to complete service at they're Watertown location it was emotionally exhausting and just down right exhausting. I had a root canal done by a dentist who owns this dentistry so I thought it would be done fast and by someone who knows they're stuff sadly I kept coming back he did not get all the nerve out and get this I still need to go back because the filling fell out of my root canal months ago and I was just too damn tired and busy to return back. AGAIN! I have to look for another dentist. But sadly I've tried to make an appointment for them to fix this problem and I can not get a person to the phone. Great! read more

*covid review* I'm disappointed with the service experienced with scheduling and confirming my appointment. During my last visit routine cleaning visit, I scheduled my second routine cleaning for the year six months after that date which was in May. That date happened to fall in the period when covid precautions were high and I believe they were only taking emergency treatments at the time so they automatically canceled my appointment and rescheduled me for the end of July (without asking me if the new date worked for me). I understood why they had to cancel but I would have expected them to ask me for a date in which the rescheduling would work. Eventually my July appointment got canceled as well because of covid but I was able to schedule an appointment later for November 4. What they don't tell you is that if you aren't able to pick up and confirm your appointment when they call, apparently you'll have to wait when you come in. So I missed the call but I was able to confirm via text before my appointment and they responded and told me because I didn't confirm earlier that I would have to wait when I come in. I'm not sure why I would have to double confirm an appointment to ensure that I am actually seen for the time I scheduled for in the first place but I was displeased with this news. I eventually told them to just cancel my appointment. What shocked me the most was that they asked me if this particular new date and time worked for me via text. I didn't reply AND THEY STILL BOOKED ME FOR IT ANYWAYS! I knew this because I got one of those automated texts that asks you to confirm your appointment. Are people even allowed to automatically reschedule you without your permission? I'm not sure...but it seems unprofessional. read more

SAHARA DENTAL IS NOT WHAT THEY SAY THE ARE! Around 2 years back I went to them for getting a dental implant in one of my frontal tooth. After the "implant was done", unbelievable! The crown itself started falling apart by pieces, I went back to them and they sent me to Watertown location "American Dental" to have it fixed but they didn't what they suppose to, I've visited the dental facility several times and they just wasted my time, canceling appointments or calling to check if I can go earlier my schedule appointment, without mentioning the long waits sitting at the patient's chair all by myself, really ridiculous, they have no respect for patients time. I remember I told them I was going to the police if they don't solve the problem, this was before the pandemic stated, then they did a temporary cemented crown, that should hold till the next appointment, this was January and yet I'm still waiting for them to solve the problem. I have requested my chart to make a proper complaint before authorities and yet they didn't give anything to me, even if its my right as a patient. read more

Good dentist when they decide to show up. My last two appointments, one in March and one this morning we're for 9am. In both cases I showed up at 9am to a locked door, waited 20+ minutes out front and no one ever showed up. All this after confirming the appointment with me relentlessly over the last 3 weeks. When I called their phone number it went to an outside answer service that couldn't offer any help. If you make it to the chair they seem competent but definitely run expensive for items that aren't covered by insurance. A nightguard here cots $600 whereas I got a similar one at my prior dentist in Brighton for $250. Don't go here if you value your time or your money. read more

Don't go here. My daughter had a crown done 2/22 which was done incorrectly but we didn't know this until 4/22 when the pain started. Didn't trust them after they messed it up so went to a different dentist but still have not received refund for the faulty procedure (cost us $1700). I have called their office about 25 times in the past 5 months to try to resolve this. They still haven't returned the insurance payment to our insurance company. The office staff aren't able to answer questions and won't give you a phone # for the billing department, they just take a message for the billing people to call you back but they never did. Dr. Naji who owns the practice won't call me back, and so far I haven't had any luck getting the billing manager to call me back. This is the first time I've ever given a negative review to anyone, but please don't go to this practice. read more

I am only giving 1 star but I would rather give none. The woman Lynn I had been corresponding with all morning told me this dental practice accepted my insurance which is masshealth and health net. I explained how much pain I was in and was told I needed a root canal last week at another dentist. I get there and they do xrays which I already had just to tell me I need a root canal but my insurance doesn't cover it. I discussed back and forth all morning telling them.what insurance I had. What a waste of time!!! These ppl are a scam and basically just charged my insurance for something I already have had done. To top it off they tell me it will cost me 1200 out of pocket in total. And 650 today to take me out of pain. What scammers I could have saved the trip. Knowing that COVID19 is rapid and I am in pain WHY???? for money thats why. The staff here is very nice, but unfortunately I think they did a bad job on all my dental work. I went in and they told me I would need two fillings, and there was a third questionable spot that they decided was okay but I should "watch" it. I had the two fillings done there, and both of them caused me pain when biting down on them for months after getting them done. I went in and had one of them adjusted but it continued to cause pain. The dentist then agreed to re-do the filling, and they didn't charge me, but they also told me that I should fill another cavity in that area (the one they originally said was okay). I didn't really appreciate being told I wouldn't need a filling, then while I'm in the chair already numb with part of my tooth drilled away, told that I should actually have another filling. The pain from the original filling went away, but I recently had another exam elsewhere, where the dentist told me that the filling was poorly done and will need to be redone a THIRD time or I risk getting a cavity underneath it. Meanwhile, the other of the original fillings continued to bother me as well, and eventually I bit into something and the whole thing basically crumbled. My tooth became so inflamed before I was able to see another dentist that I needed a root canal and then a crown, setting me back thousands of dollars. I also had my teeth whitened here once, and they left me alone in the room with the whitening setup for really long stretches of time. At one point it started to get really painful but there was no one around for me to tell so I just suffered through it. I thought it was pretty unprofessional. All in all not very happy that I had 3 fillings here, one of which broke and led to a root canal, and another one that I will have to have replaced for a second time. Their customer service is top of the line, and Dr. Shuster did the most incredible job with my veneers. She was incredibly gentle, caring, and attentive, not to mention talented! What the hell?? The dentist at Sahara told me I needed upwards of 10 fillings that I would have to schedule over the course of two days (maybe more if I had a different dentist do the fillings). According to Sahara, I somehow developed 10+ cavities in a single year, after having had only one cavity in my entire life. I went to another dentist for a second opinion, and when he looked in my mouth, he said, "How many cavities did they say you have? I can't even find one!" Excuse me??? What a fucking scam. read more

This is legit the worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. I went in because I was having a toothache and was told by previous dentists that I needed a root canal. The dentist I had hardly took a look in mouth. He took a couple of x rays and determined that I did not need a root canal and tells me that a filling will do the trick because the tooth was chipped. This doctor took seconds to do the filling, which was done extremely unprofessionally. I went to get a second opinion and I was told that I still needed a root canal. So all in all now I have a tooth that is still in need of a root canal that has some type of filling deep Inside inside of it which is causing me more pain. I DO NOT recommend this dentist office at all. This office seems to be more worried about profits than actually helping people with dental problems. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. DO NOT GO HERE. Unfortunately I had to go here as many other offices were packed and not excepting patients and I can see now why Sahara was wide open. It's because they do horrible work and are SO RUDE. The desk lady's were nice and the woman helping the dentist during my wisdom teeth removal was also very nice but Dr. David was an absolute jackass. So condescending and refused to use my correct pronouns even though they ask you to write it down on the intake form. I even wrote my preferred name which he also refused to use. when I tried to ask him to use my proper pronouns and preferred name, he interrupted me and started talking to me about the procedure. He said that they didn't have the ability to put me under and do a surgery so they would just be numbing me with local anesthesia and pulling them out. I have been evaluated by three other dentist and ortho surgeons all of which told me I would definitely need to have my teeth surgically removed because of how impacted they were. But Dr. David just went right on ahead and yanked them out and it was excruciating. He said that he wouldn't do anything if he thought I was in pain except when I did tell him I was in pain he got very annoyed, gave me another shot, and then went right back to working without even waiting for it to take affect. He was not patient with me at all and was annoyed anytime I flinched or showed any signs of being uncomfortable. He was also SO RUDE to the lady helping with the whole process. But she also did not know how to use the suction machine and kept putting it in my mouth when it wasn't even on and sticking down my throat making me gag. I almost threw up. It took forever for him to finish because he refused to use the drill to cut the tooth out of my mouth because he said he didn't want me biting his finger because my jaw tends to jerk but I don't ever clamp all the way down cause I'm not 4.. When he finally finished he wrote me a prescription for Vicodin and ibuprofen. When I got to the pharmacy they said that they could not give me the Vicodin due to a new law that passed which the dentist office should have known about. The pharmacist even said " why would they pull your wisdom teeth out unless they knew for a fact they could give you proper medication for the pain?" He also told me that every dental/dr. Office should be completely aware of medication laws and that it sounded really shady that Sahara wasn't. So they sent me home with ibuprofen and THATS IT. When I called and asked them to please send a digital request they said they would do it and give me a call back. I didn't hear from them so I called the next day but their office was closed so I had to wait another whole day... meanwhile I was in excruciating pain and did not sleep for almost 3 nights. I finally had to call them again only for them to tell me that they could only give me Motrin and that there was nothing else they could do... DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I went to Sahara dental because I had a front tooth that was almost completely gone. The dentist had told me that I could come back and get it pulled and at the same day get a partial plate for the replacement of the tooth. When I went to get my tooth pulled I not only had to tell him to nom the inside of my mouth as he only numbed the front but he was also putting down minorities, the city that I lived in and the LGBTQ community not even knowing that I was a part of it. To make matters worse the girl said yeah add this is how he weeds the good ones out from the badd ones. He took my Tooth out and I got extremely sick afterwards, yes I did get the partial plate but I am not able to wear it Because he either cut my gums Or did not tell me or the healing process is not right and they will not get back to me. Do not go here. I could understand if I didn't follow the directions, didn't brush my teeth, smoked while this was going on but I took every precaution and it seems as though what was done was a hack job so that they could get money from me looking at someone who has sick family members and preying on the weak. read more
