We have an African Sumac in front and a Narrow Leaf Ash in the backyard, both overdue for thinning and shaping. The ash also needed a crown reduction. The crew arrived exactly on time and got set up fast. The African Sumac is a messy, fast growing tree. It gives us valuable summer shade, so I wanted to keep it rather than remove it, but it is high maintenance. It shoots new growth everywhere, drops leaves all season, and its roots threaten the walkway and the lawn. It had also been neglected and pruned poorly by our gardener, which made things worse. The Skylake team removed the unwanted growth, balanced the limbs, and cleaned out the cluttered, crossing branches. The tree finally looks right again. I prefer to support local businesses in Gilroy, and Skylake is part of our community. John has an honest, friendly, straightforward manner, and he quickly earned my trust.
