    Old school liquor store
    Franklin M.

On my way home I stopped in to get our ex-work group lottery pool tickets. Everyone who came through the door seemed to know the cashier who very nice and welcoming. The store is stocked with all the goods you would expect in an old school liquor store.

Me and Elijah with my signed bottle!

Joe is a good guy and you can trust him to take care of you. Nice little shop with a solid selection of whiskey.

Very lowkey LIQOUR spot…read more It's definitely a good spot you wanna go to for some booze. Very clean place. The staff was pretty cool friendly and helpful. My first time here and they make you feel welcomed. Very good variety of drinks I'll be back when I'm in the area it's just nice in there and big selection.

I live in Lake Balboa and have been a customer at Vintage since they were the Wine & Liquor Depot…read more I've always been grateful to have a store in my neighborhood with a wide variety of options and a knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, tonight I had a bad experience at the store. I usually go there for craft beers. But a couple months ago I stocked up on some white wines. One of them described itself as light and crisp on the back of the bottle, which is in our taste wheelhouse. Well, we've had the bottle for a couple months and when we opened it last night it was a deep golden brownish color and the nose immediately let us know that the wine had turned. I poured the glass back in the bottle and put it back in the fridge. This evening I came into Vintage with the bottle and saw two staff members. One of whom I'd dealt with multiple times. They were watching the World Cup game on their TV monitor. I greeted them with a friendly hello and inquired about the game. Then I told them that I'd purchased a bottle of wine that had turned and asked if I could be credited. I didn't have the receipt but I'm on their points program and I knew they'd have a record of the sale. The person I'd dealt with before shot a look to their co-worker as if it was an odd request. But the look on their faces said they thought I might be trying to get something over on them. They went on to let me know that they have a zero return policy on alcohol. I told them I understood but that they sell expensive wine and surely if someone spent a lot of money on a bottle and it had turned that they would take the product back. The response I got honestly made me feel like they didn't understand the concept of a wine "turning". They suggested it might be accommodated in the form of wiring me money but it needed further approval. I told them to forget about it. To keep my wine and the money. It wasn't the money it was the poor customer service. I paid for my beer and left. I wouldn't have minded them getting clarification from a manager on the issue. But the vibe that was given back to me was that my request was not legit. Earlier I said that I appreciated their knowledgeable staff. But there has been some turnover in recent months and the people I used to rely on for suggestions haven't been there in quite some time. If your staff is educated enough to know the zero-return policy they should be educated enough to know that some wines go bad and that customers aren't being difficult for returning the bottle. Sadly, they've lost my business.

The young stalky narcissist kid ( maybe early twenties) they have working in the afternoons/evenings is very rude and condescending, and nothing short of a dick. He's refused to take my money on two occasions not cause it was fake or damaged or of foreign region NO ..in his word verbatim "we don't take that kind of money" like wtf ?!? The first of which the were golden dollar coins(from the car wash) , he grotesquely let me know how my money was basically no Good and it's wasn't excepted... that was in Early Feb This afternoon I finally stopped by after months of not frequenting this "Small" liqour distribution(due its inconsiderate nature towards me in the last incident I previously mentioned) and there was the "King of Nothing" in all his arrogance again at the counter but I payed him no mind and I purchased a PB lottery ticket with one of my $2bills as he takes the money and gives me the ticket he proceeds to open the register to put the moneys away and I ask for change (to get my car wash on) HE AGAIN gives me this Fucked up attitude and says once again "We Don't take these" and smugly suggest "I should be happy he accepted it this time" like WTF enough is enough. If you don't deal with legal tender in all it's denominations get your ass out of the customer service business, it's not like I'm not handing you illegal currency or dilapidated bills, not to mention we damn sure don't need another Liqour store around here. Either way the dollar coins were quite clean , and all my $2 bills are in numerical sequence straight from the bank ... so there is no reason I should be ostracized when I've given thousand of dollar over the years to this establishment. This is coming from a long time customer if your reading or have read this you need to get your shit together and remember we the community are keep you in business , I will be filling a report of discrimination with the better business bureau and the highest authority.. smh

The parking lot is teeny tiny, but parking isn't really an issue. The interior is clean and spacious, with walls lined with booze and isled aisles stocked with standard convenience store fare. I hope they have security cameras, because the staff appears to consist of one guy at the register. This one guy was helpful, though, offering guidance when I walked in and thus dispelling some of the convenience store feel of the place. I wanted a nice cabernet sauvignon and he pointed me in the right direction. Wines are divided by type, and prices are prominently displayed. Some bottles are accompanied by tags of special recommendation, complete with tasting notes for shortcut shopping (my choice, a Sterling Vineyard 2004 going for $29.99 - quick internet search says this is more or less a standard price - was fruity and would pair with most cheeses and strong lamb and beef flavors). This isn't a destination shop by any means, but it's got a reasonable selection of alcohol (besides wine, they carry plenty of beer and all your standard liquors) and a friendly if meager staff. Sketchiness factor is extremely low, and yes, bless them, I got carded. I approve.
