After the repair, the vehicle still had issues, and I did not feel that the work performed justified the cost. Communication about the repairs and charges was also not clear. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this mechanic and would advise others to carefully review the estimate and work before proceeding.

The shop (just a stone's throw from a really busy intersection) might not be much to look at but you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place in town. Ridiculously decent parts and labor costs. Everyone I dealt with couldn't have been nicer to explain what's going on and the owner being really clear about what needs to be done, what wasn't as urgent to be replaced/fixed, etc. It's been a long while since my car has felt this smooth while on the road (especially when you're living in Jersey - the Pothole Capital of America) and both myself and my wallet are happy we came here. Also they've done well with fluid flushes. Local mechanics don't always have the equipment to completely flush brakes or coolant. I'm sure they're fine for other routine work like oil changes, filter, etc. Keyword here is routine. I've had less luck when it was an odd ball repair. Like a difficult to service gasket between an oil cooler and engine. The local mechanic did a better job on that. Those kind of repairs will be expensive too. I wouldn't let them near a transmission either beyond a flush. You're better off looking for a specialty shop if it's a tricky engine or transmission issue. Also noticed lots of complaints on taking longer than was promised. I always plan on leaving it half a day at least. I have gotten wrong time estimates before. Last time it was blamed on a stuck rusty bolt. I guess that wasn't their fault - but just know the time estimate can be off a lot.
