Have to say this place was an icon in Baytown for breakfast and lunch tacos.. But it seems the quality had drastically gone down the drain. Example get you a fajita taco and open it up . You will find it has a great deal of fat grease chunks with the meat. The tortilla texture sometime is mushy. Don't dare to get the carne guisada or barbacoa. One simply does not come here if they're on a diet, BUT every once in a while, I think its okay to indulge in one of their greasy tacos wrapped around a warm, homemade flour tortilla. Not only is C&D known for their deliciously, dangerous, greasy tacos but this Mexican mini store is equipped with their own bakery and taco shop. The store itself is painted very colorful outside (you can't miss it) and once inside, you notice pictures of what I assume to be the owner of this establishment with many famous Hispanic athletes, as well as several of what seem to be, his children and/or grandchildren - well his family in general. The bakery offers you a small range of your typical Mexican pan dulce and right next to the glass display cabinet, you'll find the lineup of meats such as fajitas, barbacoa, carne asada and even chicharróns con chile. They also have other fillers such as rice, beans, bacon, nacho cheese, and your common red and green sauces. If you have an opportunity to swing by in the morning, be prepared to stand in line for their coveted breakfast tacos filled with the usual eggs and ham, eggs and potatoes, and even barbacoa. What really makes these tacos standout is the fact, that they use homemade flour tortillas. However, over the past few years, they have had an issue with management and for a while there, they were D&D but apparently, they are back to C&D. Hopefully, they can exceed their expectations and get back on track. Last but not least, reason why I like stopping by C&D is because they offer all the local Spanish newspapers in conjoined stands; helping moi from running around town to get each one. I have been visiting this Taqueria for over 25 years! So many good times with friends and family have been shared while eating a C&d's taco. This is the bar that I've based all other taquerias that I have visited. It's perfect.. I do miss the old location that burned down.. but the food taste just the same at the new one. I was here bright and early (like most reviews encouraged me to) to get breakfast tacos and the place was already open when I arrived at 7:00 am. The place already had a few customers and a nice young lady took my order immediately. The service overall was good. I wanted to love these tacos I really did but I didn't. The breakfast tacos were ok but not like "daaaaaaamn good" lol I got 2 egg and bacon, 1 egg and chorizo and I Mexican potato and bacon. Although extremely greasy, the chorizo and egg was by far the best. Next time I'll add refried beans to them, I think that may do the trick. Lol The salsa wasn't as spicy as like it but I understand they have to have limit as it doesn't fit everyone's taste buds. I consider C&D Grocery one of Baytowns hidden gems!!! Now I dont know much about Baytown other than I work there and a few restaurants that we tend to frequent When you first hire on the one place they tell you that you must know is C&D's. I was liike umm I'll get what you get. O boy it was love at first bite. Bean, cheese, american sausage with spicy potato. The people are beyond nice and they even have a bakery inside thats a plus. Also its open really early O my to be able to get off at 5am on a weekend and to be have a place to get fresh breakfast tacos is awesome. Ok so lately this place has just gone down hill. Several people ordered there meal in a box(instead of a tortilla) and it was literally covered in 1/2 inch of grease. Maybe it is the cheese(from a can) they use but really was was not edible. Even on the Tacos the scrambled eggs seem to be swimming in grease. How much grease do you need to scramble eggs? I have started passing when they go to this place for breakfast. There are several other places close by that offer the same thing but that look much more fresh and less greasy. Nothing wrong with grease but too much of a good ting is just bad. read more

One of my coworkers showed me this place and I have to say it's pretty cool on the inside. If I didn't know about this place I might drive past it without giving it a double look but the food is good and the people are nice. They even have a bakery inside and a lot of cool little things to look at inside this grocery store/bakery/taqueria. The Mexican fajita tacos are good and I ordered mine with cheese I just wish they put more cheese. I went around 1 but I hear it's best to go early because the food is more fresh. Quirky local grocery with some odd ball items from across the border. Great source for 'hecho en mexico' sugar cane sodas! ;-) The bakery has rows and rows of 'pan dulce' - the sweet bread that goes so well with my coffee in the morning! I was raised on these tacos!!!! Just like most Lee Rebels I stopped every morning before school to get my fix. Teachers back then even let us show up late to class as long as we brought them tacos too. Coach so and so, Health Class. I've been all over the world and haven't found anything that compares. I do miss the Turkish pizzas in Budingen, Germany, but not half as much as C&D's. Besides my son it's the only thing worth going back to Baytown for. And I always take him with me when I visit. Step up to the counter "2 Tacos with Mexican eggs (has Pico in it already), Spicy Potatoes, 2 pieces of Bacon, Cheese (some melted cheese they squirt out of a bottle), hot sauce & PICO"!! Stop and grab a pineapple soda and a small bag O funyuns on your way to the cashier and your done for the next several hours. The cashier will give you a few paper towels for clean up you can use if your not a pro. I suggest eating them immediately outside the grocery at a table and visit with other patrons. It's a little pink house with a line out the door on the weekends, so you know it must be good. It's listed as Grocery, but it's not much of a grocery store. Go here for their tacos and bakery. I live in the land of breakfast tacos, and I still buy extra carne guisada tacos here to bring home and freeze. It's helpful if you can speak Spanish when ordering here, but not absolutely necessary. Just know that when you order a bean and cheese taco, it will be labeled F&Q in your to-go bag. read more

The bakery is amazing too! The cost is very cheap, at $1.50 per taco. The bakery items are also surprisingly cheat as well. The old lady and I went out to try and find a good breakfast taco place today in our new town(Baytown). This place is great, and we never would have found out about without the great powers of yelp guiding us. C&D is definitely what you would call a "hole in the wall", a place where they do things there way, and they do them well. I had a couple of tacos with the Mexican eggs(scrambled eggs with pico in the eggs), spicy potatoes, bacon, and cheese. The old lady had the standard bacon, egg, and cheese. It was all good...the best part was definitely the tortillas. If you're looking for a good breakfast taco in Baytown, then look no further. Man, C&D's has gone downhill. The last few times we've come in to order tacos, they've been so full of grease that we had to roll them on top of clumps of paper towels to soak the grease up. Also, this is the SECOND time I've found a long black hair in my food. If I wanted a beef HAIR taco, that's what I'd order. Yuck. I also hate how fatty the meat has gotten lately. It seems that when I order the fajita beef tacos, there is more fat than beef in my tacos. This place is not what it used to be and unfortunately, I've given up. This place used to be great and now I don't think I will be coming here again. I stopped going so much when I would ask for pico and it looked like the whole vegetable was in my taco. Today I called 20 mins. Ahead because I know they are busy and when I got there it still took an additional 30 mins to get my food. This is ridiculous. They were just ignoring call ins. If it wasn't for the tough-as-shoe leather fajita meat I would have rated them 3-4 stars. You can't cook skirt steak or round steak quickly in a skillet and expect it to be edible. We get these tacos every Friday and have been for several years. Once in a while the meat is tender, most often you can't chew it, well except for the large globs of disgusting fat they chop up in the meat - The fat's tender enough. Well it was my first time going here and it looked like just any old grocery store. Then we walked in and walked to the back where i saw all the baked sweet bread and the ladies making tacos. This place looks like a hole and kind of is. In the way that all the glorious greasy spoons do. It looks dingy but its not dirty. Everything is made here. Great tortillas and tamales. The pico is HOT. There's a HUGE selection of traditional Mexican pastries. The burritos are greasy and f***ing awesome. The lines can get long but the staff is FAST. Terrible customer service, I had to wait for the only woman who was supposed to be making the tacos to get off her phone to attend me, so after five minutes of listening to her talk about her daughter to someone else she finally decided to attend me with an irritated attitude.
