If she waits on you make sure that she does not add on extras that you do not want. She will ask if you want corn and potatoes with your meal and if you say yes she adds on extra portions of each. Corn for $4.00 more and Potatoes for $3.50 more (They are already included with your meal). When she brought out our food we asked her why we had so many pieces of corn and potatoes with each meal and she said that is what we wanted and I explained to her we only wanted that comes with the meal and you brought us way to many. She said no problem and that she would take them off of our bill and I explained that we did not order and extra food and she said that its ok and that they would take them off of our bill when we paid. Well when the bill arrived nothing was taken off and We asked her about it and she said that she would have it corrected and then came back and asked me for payment and I asked for a copy of the bill before I paid and she had taken off only part of the extras and I told her that she needed to take the rest off of the bill and she stormed away and then 2 other ladies came to the table and told us that we had eaten the extras and that we had to pay for them. WE DID NOT EAT THEM!! I explained this to them and they said the waitress had counted the food that was left and we had to pay for the missing pieces and that was that. We were lied to and tricked into ordering add ons that we did not eat. I paid the bill and explained that we would never come back here again after this mess. It's not the money that matters. It was how we were treated. YOU JUST LOST A LONG TIME CUSTOMER OVER THIS! Just beware when you order so this doesn't happen to you!

Seafood is expensive almost everywhere these days, but for the quality and portions you get at Yaya's, I'd consider the prices very reasonable. For example, the 3-piece cod and shrimp combo, which also comes with fries, is only $19. I've seen other places charge well over $20 for just two pieces of cod and fries, with no shrimp. The fish is perfectly seasoned with their secret cornmeal blend and, most importantly, never oily. You get a beautifully crisp exterior while the fish stays moist and tender inside. They also offer other fish like whiting, porgies, and catfish. They offer steamed options as well. And if someone in your group isn't into seafood, they have burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs too. I've tried some very good seafood spots, including Dock House in the Hamptons and Bob's Clam Hut in Maine, but Yaya's holds its own; and in my opinion, the quality and value are even better. They also get their seafood freshly delivered from Fulton Fish Market in New York! Mike, the owner, really cares about the freshness of his seafood and he has truly mastered the fry. I can't really say it's a 'hidden gem' because it's notoriously mentioned in many circles as the "have you ever been to THIS place??" place, but people usually answer YES, with wide eyes and a few memorable dish notes. We went for a mid-week date night, and there was a constant flow of seemingly satisfied diners. The ambiance was warm and cozy, not too dimly lit but very deliberately paced with the huge portions they offer; the service was top-notch, friendly and knowledgeable, always checking back at the right times and knowing what we would need as guests. We ordered several of their suggestions with no reservations, and they delivered. My fiance still talks about that apple cider margarita and it's firmly on the list of not-too-hard-to-make restaurant favorites we roll out for our guests at home. The stuffed mushrooms had a ton of crab meat and far less breading than most, without being saturated or too heavy to start the meal. The salads are certainly slept on; neatly arranged but never the star when pitted up against their hearty steak or cajun offerings, their house salads are hard to beat, unless you're paying up for a meal-type salad. As good as those two items were, the scallops I had with their cracker-encrusted light breading were the epitome of simple, sauteed, buttery-by-nature seafood; they were the best version of scallops like that I've ever had. And the dessert...just perfect for so many reasons; crispy and gooey caramelized bananas, a good amount of vanilla ice cream and the best cinnamony syrup sauce that I couldn't stop lapping up. I did something stupid and I have zero regrets…read more I knew it was stupid. The waitress knew it was stupid. As did everyone at the bar. And you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Many years ago, I went on a little tour of Old Forge pizza. We tried the red. We tried the white. We went to the famous places. We went to the dives. But somehow we never made it to Anthony's? Maybe it was their hours? Maybe it was because the Old Forge white was not available by the cut? It's hard to say. But what I know for sure is that I came out of the tour with a deep abiding love for Old Forge white with broccoli. IMHO it needs the broccoli. Regrettably, my old favorites for white with broccoli have fallen from grace, which is a loss. But the silver lining is that I have found Anthony's and their white broccoli is amazing! An entire white broccoli pie is a staggering quantity of food. So when I walked up to the bar as a solo diner, and placed my order of a white broccoli pie for here, the waitress looked a little uneasy and paused for a moment. In the pause, I acknowledged that I knew I was ordering enough food for a crew, and that I expected to be taking much of it home. It also takes a staggeringly long time to bake something that large in an oven. And I knew that going in. So I nursed my Yuengling, and even took a few nibbles of bread and butter that were brought out while I waited. I have to say, that first bite just had me swooning, and I don't swoon easily. The top crust was beautifully seasoned with herbs, spices, and onions. The bottom crust was golden and crisp. The cheese was oozing and broccoli was bursting forth. Please, please, please eat this pizza in the restaurant. It's glorious when it first comes out of the oven. The longer it sits, the less crisp the bottom becomes. Trust me. It's worth it. With the beer, tip, and taxes, the whole thing set me back $33. Obviously there were leftovers too. My original plan had been to offer cuts of the pie to other folks at the bar, but by the time I got there, everyone had already eaten, so I wasn't able to give away a single cut. So it goes. And I did push myself to eat more than I should have. Slice one was a revelation. Slice two a delight. Slice three felt more like a dare. And slice four? That was pure hubris. I only got a couple of bites in and then I had to tap out. But I wanted to tackle at least half of the pie on premise. So it goes. I learned something about myself that night, but more importantly, I discovered a new Old Forge institution, to which I am looking forward to returning time and time again. P.S. The salads were incredible; the croutons on the Caesar were crisp and airy, the toasted pine nuts with the arugula salad added that crunch that some salads are missing. It would have been an epic meal even if it had to end there, but the entrees delivered as well. The massive portion of Seafood Fra Diavolo (shrimp, scallops, calamari and clams in spicy marinara over linguine) had my fiance packing leftovers, and the only reason I didn't finish my meal was to have another crack at this savory peppercorn encrusted bone-in pork shank beauty the next day. Rested on a mushroom brandy cream sauce, with broccoli and oven-roasted crispy seasoned potatoes, every bite smothered in that sauce was delicious. We felt like, for what we got, it was an excellent value and items were appropriately priced; staff were very welcoming and had great, honest and personal recommendations to help us decide between all the great menu options. This is basically seafood-forward Italian dining done right, with top-notch cocktails in an inviting atmosphere...we'll most certainly be back!
