It was easy to set up a septic tank pump-out service with C&W Hanover Septic Well & Plumbing, and Ben was super patient answering my questions and showing me a few things when he did the work at our home in New Kent County, VA (I appreciated the heads up call when he was on his way). They also offer an inspection-only service, which you can apply to the full pump service. We opted to just get the pump-out over with this year but it was a very nice offer. Had C&W Hanover Septic come out to pump the tank. Here are my thoughts that resulted in a 3-star rating. 1) Had two guys for two separate activities. Both of the guys represented the company well. 2) When the guy opened the tank, he discovered an issue, as he thought the pump was not functioning. He proceeded to pump the tank. The cost was $575, which was a reasonable cost based on research. 3) The other guy replaced the pump, which cost $1,600. Based on research, this was an exorbitant price based on the retail cost of the pump. Based on all of the factors, would consider them again for pumping the tank, but absolutely not for other work. read more

I've used this company to manage my septic system for years. Always timely, thorough and informative.

I asked them to pump out the septic system, which actually was a year overdue for that kind of service. Their technician called ahead when he was on his way. He then showed up on time and got straight to work, easily finding the distribution box (where I told him in advance to look for it; they asked me to), opening the lid, extending a hose to it, and pumping it out. He was in and out of here in fifteen minutes, and assured me he found no issues. (I hadn't had any; I just wanted it done for maintenance.) No high-pressure sales pitch, and no trying to sell me something I didn't need. We even compared notes as to the proper way to use (not abuse) a septic system. (Hint: you treat your septic system as if it were your own river - don't pollute it with chemicals.) He assured me that our lifestyle was "septic safe," and that from what he'd seen, we were doing the right things. read more

They only got one star because it will not let me leave it blank. DO NOT USE THEM! They installed a new septic tank - but it is not hooked up. During the process they broke my well line (including electric) - they fixed the water line but told me the electric was working. When my plumber proved otherwise they then indicated that since it was a private utility line and not marked they were not responsible. When they came to look at the job, I told them about the well line and I was informed that if "they broke it - they would fix it". They finally did have an electrician fix it but it was not done correctly and the conduit entering my well was not sealed. So when it rained, water was running right through the conduit into my well with all kinds of mud- not good. When I contacted them, I was told that they did not have to do anything because after the electrician hooked the pump up they sent me an email telling me that their work with me was concluded. I guess it does not matter if the work was done right. I would definitely never use or recommend them. The work was poor at best and was not done correctly. read more

Beware! I paid C&W Hanover Septic $23K to install an alternative system on 11/17/21. Less than five weeks later the high water alarm kept triggering. Since 12/25/21 the new system shows high water levels even though only two people live in the household and it is designed to process up to 450 gallons a day. C&W said they would no longer monitor the system on 2/23/22 even though a high water alarm went off again on 2/21/22. Due to the problem not being resolved I had to file a complaint with BBB. This was the C&W owner's response to a system that is not working and cost $23K: Good morning everyone, well every day seems to be a new adventure with this one, haha. First I would like to thank Ms. Taylor for her business and I would like to thank everyone else for their time and help. I have been in business long enough to know when, no matter what my company does, the customer will not be satisfied. Unfortunately, we have reached that point. At this time, I have made the decision to terminate our business relationship with Ms. Taylor. Any of our workmanship carries a one year warranty which we will honor if need be, but as far as the warranty on the components or any other service work that may need to be done, Ms. Taylor will have to find another company to take over. I can't say enough amazing things about C&W. We were selling our house, about an hour away from their office, and had hired another company that was close by to pump & inspect our septic system. The other company found several problems including tree roots in our headerlines, distribution box, and the holding tank itself. Long story short, we had an awful experience with the other company. My husband called C&W, spoke to Susan who was polite, helpful, and was able to get us scheduled quickly for repairs. She helped us through a difficult and emotional time, and even saved us about $4,000 worth of repairs (plus several months of headache) that the other company said needed to be done but actually didn't. Had C & W Hanover Septic come out to pump our septic tank. The lady whom we scheduled our appointment was very nice and easy to talk to. I even learn a couple of things while on the phone with her. The day of the appointment, the crew called a head of time to let us know they were on the way. They were very nice on the phone. My husband was impressed with how quickly they found the tank. The hole they dug was minimal. They did not leave a mess. Within an hour they were done. Gave my husband a report that the tank looked really good. These guys are pros! I called to set up a pump out & the worker called prior to arrival. He said that he wouldn't drive on our grass and instead used about 5 extension hoses to reach the furthest tank. (We have 2 on the property.) Husband was impressed with his professionalism and explanations. 1 star off for worker not being masked (one would think he'd want to for his own protection considering what he's pumping) but we were outdoors, so. If it's possible to have a positive septic cleaning experience, we just did. read more

We had two or three plumbers out to unclog our commodes in the last 6 months, plus one septic removal company twice in one week. When I tried to get in touch with the septic company who originally pumped the tank, they had only one person working and they could not get to us until two weeks from the date out tank was over flowing. So I happened upon C&W on the computer. Which was the best think ever. They came out the very next day, worked with me concerning cost and explained every detail so I could understand what was happening to cause this over flow. I have been using these guys since I moved to Hanover in 2010. Had a float switch for the Septic go bad. I called - about 2 hours later someone came to assess the situation. Then he didn't have the part so someone would come tomorrow. Really bad storms/tornados expected tomorrow afternoon, so I expected a call/email saying they couldn't get to it as quick as they thought. At 6:30 in the morning, saw them working on it. They woke up early to fix the problem instead of making people wait. Service of this caliber is rare it seems! I'll continue using them as long as I live in their service area! read more
