My boyfriend tried the crème brûlée Vietnamese coffee and really enjoyed it. He especially liked the cream, which blended really well with the coffee. Each of us in the family like something different and this shop is able to cater to all of our preferences. My parents love the blueberry jam latte. It's on the sweeter side, but flows well into the sweetness as you work you way down in the drink. No upcharge for alternative milk! I go with the Viet Coffee. It certainly packs a wallop in the caffeine department. It is impressive in its flavor, not pulling any punches. If you prefer Hojicha or Matcha, like my sisters, I would recommend the Melona Matcha for something unique, or their Classic Hojicha for something a little less sweet and milder in the caffeine count. When I paid I already noticed it is super heavy, like heavier than 1 pack of cookies you grab from grocery aisle, which is a good sign. Went here for some silly drinks with my partner and some pastries on a Saturday afternoon. It's a medium sized establishment with minimal seating. It's somewhat hidden since the door is literally behind a pillar. It's a bright and welcoming cafe with a colorful menu, merch, and pastures. They only serve pastries over the weekend I believe since they collab with bakers. I got their crème brûlée which was a nice dark roast flavor for a good caffeine boost. Hands down, without any contest, this is the best place for matcha in Elk Grove. Their quality is unmatched. The workers are chill and get your drinks out quickly, and the whole store is very minimal and well kept. They keep drinks simple and do things exceptionally well, but if you wanna venture out they also have seasonal items that really show their creativity and understanding of flavors. The price can be admittedly pretty steep (almost $9 for some drinks), but with how much I always come back and enjoy their drinks I can't be too upset about that. My go to matcha and coffee shop in Elk Grove! Fast service, friendly staff, and consistently good drinks. Love their regular matcha latte with oat milk, smooth, creamy, earthy and they don't up-charge for oat milk! I was craving a banana coffee, so I decided to check out this spot. Even though it wasn't on the menu, they were kind enough to make one for me. The coffee itself was very strong, which made the banana flavor hard to notice. It was topped with a cookie crumble that tasted good, but it made the drink difficult to sip without a straw. If you take your time finishing your drink, the crumble can get a bit soggy by the end. Overall, the coffee was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the nearly $9 price tag They also sell salt bread here. I didn't try any this visit, but I'd be interested in giving it a shot next time. I've been wanting to stop in for a while and finally had the chance to! There's a good amount of parking available and even though the cafe is small, it's cozy and there are places to sit inside. They offer drinks and then Mellobun Bakery items for food. I loved the variety of options from classic coffee options, to sweeter choices, matcha, and even some items you don't always see. Their team was very friendly, they not only greeted us but we talked about their menu and they recommended a few things before we made our decision. Their menu is split up into espresso, hojicha, matcha, and spring. The spring section had seasonal offerings including the item I ordered, the Jeju Orange Americano ($7.50) which I upgraded with sparkling water (+1.50). I've seen this combination of espresso, orange (in this case puree), and sparkling water become more popular and have tried it a couple times. Theirs was delicious and refreshing, a perfect summer beverage. We hung out here for a while and it was a nice spot for a meeting. It wasn't too loud and while it started getting busier while we were there we didn't feel pressured to grab and go. I'll definitely be back and next time I'll try a bite from Mellobun too! read more

I've been here 2x already and the vibes really are great in this coffeeshop. Ive tried their vietnamese coffee and matcha and for both of those drinks - nothing is watered down and the flavor of the coffee/matcha is super rich, creamy, and tasty. First and foremost, I love coffee/drinks spot with default sweetness as low (instead of high sweetness and I always have to ask for "less sweet") I felt like I'm finally being heard! LOL. No extra charge for Oak Milk and they only sell Matcha and coffee. No fruit drinks or tea. So, you know they have mastered it. The Original Matcha has an unique savory "unami" richness and slightly sweeten. Nothing complicated! It comes close to the Matcha I had in Tokyo. They use Uji Matcha, which is premium and high grade. The next time I go back, I want to try the Banana Matcha. My son had the Hojicha Original. A little more nutty, smooth and sweeter. I like it. They also have a small selection of sweets. I couldn't leave without trying the Hojicha Cheesecake. It looks like a cinnamon bun and taste like a cinnamon bun. I'm not sure why it's called cheesecake. Since Ca Phe Haru has opened their storefront, I've been back three times. Their menu seems to be frequently (and extensively) changing, which was disappointing when I wanted to try a specific drink they no longer had on my most recent visit. I've tried a couple of their Vietnamese Coffee drinks, their seasonal Goguma Latte, Strawberry Matcha and Twice Hojicha. The majority of these drinks are not on their current menu. I wasn't impressed with my matcha and hojicha drinks, so I'm sticking with their viet coffee and perhaps seasonal drinks from now on. (The five star rating is for their coffee.) I liked the Goguma Latte, it had actual bits of sweet potato in it. They also are currently serving bakery items from Mellobun, which I've tried on a couple occasions. Drinks have been out fast when I've visited. Personally, I recommend for their Viet coffee but do wish they'd keep their menu a bit more consistent. Ca Phe Haru is my newest Vietnamese coffee shop addiction ever since trying it for the very first time last week. The shop is located in a small strip mall, so parking may be limited. The ambiance and bright and cheery, with some seating if you want to chill there, but most people get their drinks to go. Staff are friendly and I was very pleasantly surprised by how quickly my drinks were made both times I went. The first time I ordered a pandan Vietnamese coffee, and that was one of the smoothest Vietnamese coffees I've ever had. The pandan was such a perfect pairing and made the drink extra creamy. Sometimes I get slight headaches when having Vietnamese coffee because of its strength, but not this one at all. The second time I went, I ordered the banana matcha with oat milk. I loved the natural taste of the banana and the cookie crumble was a wonderful touch. The matcha itself was again super smooth. It wasn't as matcha-y as I would have liked, but regardless, still a great drink. They have specialty coffees as well if you want to branch out and try those! The processes by which those coffees are made are super neat, with some intriguing notes for sure. There are some items for sale on the shelves as well, especially some really cute Pokémon themed goodies. I will definitely be back again very soon! read more

I came here after going to an event across the street at District56. This spot has been on my list to try because of their matcha drinks and how they sell baked goods from MelloBun Bakery. Walking in, I love how minimalistic and aesthetic the interior design was. It was very simple yet felt really clean. There were no other customers inside when I got there so I was able to order right away. I ended up ordering the Melona Matcha drink which came out right away. Sipping on the drink, I felt that the Melona syrup overpowered the matcha taste a bit where the matcha was a pretty subtle. I probably also should've asked to adjust the sweetness level but I was okay with how the drink turned out regardless. Overall, I'm glad I got to finally check this place out and I would definitely come back to try out more of their menu! read more

I came here on a Sunday around 12:30 PM with a friend who had been wanting to try their banana matcha for a while. Unfortunately, just like the other times she's come, it was already sold out. That's really the main reason I'm giving four stars -- I'd love to try it, but it seems like you have to come super early if you want to get it before it's gone. Even though we missed out on that, we still had a great experience. We ordered the crème brûlée matcha and the sea salt matcha, and both were so good. The flavors were really well balanced and you can tell they take their matcha seriously. The menu itself is pretty small, which you can see when you get there, but they also offer a few pastries that looked really good. We didn't try any this time, but I'd definitely be interested in getting one next visit. The space itself is on the smaller side. There are a few seats inside where people can sit and enjoy their drinks, and they also have some merch art inside. It's located in a store parking lot, so there is parking available, but I could see it getting pretty packed during busier times. Overall, I still had a great experience and definitely plan on coming back. Hopefully one day I'll finally get to try the banana matcha! read more

Came around 10 on friday morning. Not too busy at first but def more ppl as it got later towards noon. I got the regular matcha with whole milk, total was 7.80. Normally i dont usually buy drinks bc i can make at home but just to try this place. It was quite milky, not too sweet which was good but not much of a strong matcha flavor. I understand it is a "single shot" or wtv but very very milky imo. For almost 8$ lwk expected better, especially jus coming back from japan and getting matcha/hojicha drinks there lol. Finally got a chance to try this spot, I love their aesthetics and the simplicity of everything. I couldn't decide what to order and honestly wanted to try it all. I ended up getting the Melona Matcha, but I completely forgot to ask for less sugar since I don't like my drinks too sweet. The Melona flavor definitely overpowered the matcha and was overall way too sweet for me. I do like how deep green the matcha looks. I like the they write down how many grams of matcha are in each drink, it's helpful for me because I'm sensitive to caffeine so it's good to know how much I'm drinking. I wanted to like Ca Phe Haru, but my recent experience was disappointing. The drinks have consistently left much to be desired, especially considering the expensive prices. The coffee tasted low quality and overly sour, while some of the specialty drinks leaned far too sweet without much balance. I was especially disappointed by the pandan latte, which barely had any noticeable pandan flavor and tasted more like a generic sweet latte. They also no longer serve the Mello Bun, which was the main reason I used to go. Without it, there is much less reason for me to visit. I would personally skip the coffee here. It is unfortunate because the concept has a lot of potential, but the drinks, pricing, and overall experience no longer feel worth it. read more

We stopped by the cafe this morning. Hubs got the original ca phe sua da and I got the creamy double matcha. We also wanted to try one of the salt breads baked by mellobun bakery and went with the garlic cream cheese salt bread. The creamy double matcha was a beautiful vibrant green. I went with oat milk for it after seeing the comments on yelp as being the better pairing with the matcha vs whole milk (note: | usually prefer whole milk). Taste-wise, I can really taste the matcha in it. The cream top was on the thinner side (I'm used to the thicker cream tops which I've had at other cafes). When I sipped it directly from the cup, it didn't feel like I could taste the contrast of the creaminess of it like I would with a thicker cream top, it became blended together. The sweetness level was perfect as I don't like my matcha overly sweet. I tried my hubs coffee, and although the coffee tasted strong, we both felt like it lacked the depth and richness of ca phe sua da, and could be bolder. Usually when we drink ca phe sua da, it hits us right away upon first sip. Their ca phe sua da is good, but it could be better in our opinion. With that being said, they do offer adjustments to your drink if you find it is needing more sweetness. For the garlic cream cheese salt bread, this was our first time trying salt bread so it is based on solely our first experience as we having nothing to compare it to. We had the bread warmed up for us, which I recommend you doing. The salt bread had a generous amount of garlic cream cheese in it (personally it was a bit too much for me but my hubs didn't mind). I was expecting it to be a bit more savory, but the cream cheese was on the sweeter side so when you bit into it, you can taste both the saltiness from the bread and the sweetness from the cream cheese. Regardless, it was still delicious and we devoured it. The salt bread did seem to be a bit on the denser side as opposed to it being soft and fluffy on the inside. Overall, we would love to come back and try their other drinks and I love the fact that the owners listen to feedback and try to continuously improve on their drinks. read more

We went on a Sunday morning and it was slightly busy, they had a good amount of pastries left so we tried a matcha cinnamon roll, everything salt bread, and garlic salt bread with 2 drinks. We ordered the sea salt, pandan, and coconut coffees. Hubs and I enjoyed the coconut and pandan - maybe would've liked there to be a stronger pandan flavor. I'm excited for a new viet influence coffee spot with a lot of cool flavor. I'm a great fan of pandan so I got the pandan latte of course. It was not too sweet and balance well with the bitterness of the coffee. They're still training the new team members so there is still quite a bit of awkwardness that happen during my visit. All I can say is learn from my mistake and make sure you get a receipt so you know your order number will try again in the near future since I do really like these kind of drinks. Noticed the matcha was pre-made, so I opted for an americano after spotting their fancy espresso machines. My husband ordered the pour-over, which was over $9. Take this with a grain of salt since we're definitely coffee snobs, but we didn't enjoy our drinks. The americano had a great aroma and some complexity in its flavor notes, but overall the taste just didn't land for me. I'm not sure if it was the beans or the preparation. As for the pour-over, we watched it being made and realized it was being used as a training opportunity to who I assume is a new hire. My friends and I are already big fans of Ca Phe Haru! I remember them just being in a pop up truck! This place is a hidden gem. It's one door hidden behind a cement pillar, so if you aren't looking for it, then you might miss it! Upon walking in, the space is small, but they still have quite a bit of seating if you plan on coming in to do your work. When I came in, there were a lot of college students (I'm assuming) just hanging out, so there wasn't much seating at all, but that was okay since we were just doing a grab and go. I got a disappointing matcha drink [elsewhere] before coming here, and decided to drop here by after because my friend wanted to try their coffee. She got the coconut coffee and she let me try a bit of hers and it was SO GOOD, I was tempted to go back in and get one for myself. They're also really fast at making drinks! As soon as we ordered it, I think we only waited like 2-3 minutes before it was already out and ready for us. They have a partnership with Mellobun Bakery and sell daily baked goods with unique flavors, which all looked phenomenal. I'm still thinking about that coconut coffee until this day.
