In theory, this place is a great addition to the old Elk Grove area, and the aesthetics are definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, the service and overall experience left a lot to be desired. I took my girlfriend here while she was visiting from out of town. I asked if they could make avocado toast, and they told me it wasn't on the menu. We asked if they had bread and avocado, which they did, but they still wouldn't make it simply because it wasn't a menu item. I found that response very odd, especially for what seemed like a simple request. When I mentioned the experience to my sister, she told me she had a similar issue. She and a friend were the only customers on the patio and waited about 15 minutes for their drinks. Eventually, they went inside and found the drinks sitting at the counter. No one had even thought to bring them out to the patio. This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately it feels like the effort isn't there yet. Had Tule on my list for a while and had passed it many times before coming here recently. The shop had a decent amount of indoor seating for the size it is (although still limited and I would recommend coming earlier to ensure you get seating and an outlet if needed), and had plenty of outdoor seating. Their bathroom is towards the back of the building; they were nice and clean! The staff were friendly. Their menu has the standard coffee shop fare, with a few seasonal options. I opted for the banana pudding matcha. When I got it, the matcha was of a lighter color than I'm used to. Sadly, the matcha was a bit light in flavor, as well. The banana pudding was more of an artificial flavor than I preferred. The other thing is that they upcharge for alternative dairy options. While the shop was cute, the thing I didn't like about it was that I could feel the foot steps of customers walking (the ground felt hollow), which was distracting for me to get work done. A lot of people were on their laptops so it might be more of a personal preference. Other than that, the nice thing about this shop is that it gives you the vibes of a Sacramento cafe, without the headache of parking. There is a large parking lot nearby. Overall, it does the job for working at a coffee shop, but perhaps not my go-to. read more

Gorgeous coffee house! I came on a lazy Saturday morning and I am so glad I did. There was ample of parking as they have their own parking lot. The coffee house has wonderful outdoor and indoor seating which can accommodate a group of four easily on tables. I ordered the veggie panini and it was perfect! The bread was perfectly grilled. Tule Coffeehouse is the ideal relaxing shop often found in other places outside of EG; this is the end goal that many coffee chains strive to have but never achieve. There's a nice indoor area with tables and a couch, real plant vines hang from the ceiling. Through the many clean windows, EG Blvd. can be clearly viewed. There's a courtyard area on either side of the establishment that's well maintained with trimmed trees. There's space between the tables and it doesn't feel so crammed. Soft coffeeshop study music is playing in the background. The workers were friendly and the coffee came out fast even with a line but the sandwiches took over 20 minutes to come out. The coffee and food were at market prices; the sandwiches are larger than normal and easily shareable. Parking was easy thanks to the parking lot next door. The coffee was well balanced with many milk alternatives available and not overly sweet brown sugar or vanilla add-ons. The Turkey Panini was savory, the red bell peppers gave it a kick, and the bread was toasty. All the sandwiches were good but the bacon sandwich left a huge impact due to the fluffy eggs. The aioli they put on the sandwiches is amazing. One complaint is that they put so much arugula and some of them are uncooked so it's quite hard to chew and I ended up choking on some of them. Be prepared to wait for your sandwiches though. I didn't realize the matcha matcha drink only had vanilla in the cold foam so they asked if I wanted additional sweetener - I'm very glad they asked! I added light vanilla sweetener and the matcha came out just how I like it. Paninis are good, you can probably split it with a friend if you aren't a big breakfast person. We came here on October 26th after the Dia De Los Muertos 5K run in elk Grove. We showed up around 9:30 a.m. and it was definitely jam-packed. The line was outside the door and there were at least seven groups ahead of us. Luckily the service was stellar and we got to the front register within 15 minutes. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches one that was with bacon and one that was with some deli meats. I also tried their homemade pumpkin spice latte and my husband got a regular coffee with cream. I do want to call out the pumpkin spice latte that they had because it was beyond delicious. It actually tasted like pumpkin because they mentioned they used real pumpkin puree in order to make the drink. It was smooth, luscious, and very festive in your mouth LOL. The sandwiches that we had were extremely well made because the cheese that was inside was super gooey which melted so well into the like thick slab of egg that was inside and the way that it was portioned within the sandwich allowed you to have a proper bite of all the different ingredients inside. also forgot to mention the individual at the cash register was extremely amazing and sweet. He walked me through the menu because it was our first time there, gave me recommendations on a potential sweet treat to to eat, and was excited to know that elk Grove had a 5K run close by that he would consider doing next year. Updating my review since it's been a long time now. I love Tule Coffee for their delicious breakfast sandos. They are big and remind me of Camellia Coffee's breakfast sandos. So when I'm having a craving for one, instead of driving to midtown, I can swing by a local coffee shop in Elk Grove. Parking is still very much accessible because of the public parking lot adjacent to them. However, this review is being updated because of the coffee and aggressive tipping culture. I came to try the cherry vanilla latte since it sounded unique and different. Ordered mine iced with oat milk and half sweet. The cherry vanilla latte has a unique profile but it's not to my liking, but that's just me. The coffee (espresso) was barely there and overall was too sour (acidic). I feel like I've experienced this many other times as well but I wasn't sure if it was the coffee or the barista making it. Now for the tipping. Tipping should be OPTIONAL. The tipping screen should appear AFTER the customer has paid and not before the customer pays. I didn't like that the employee said "Thank you, Linda." while standing and smiling at me. I was about to tap my card when I saw the screen, momentarily confused thinking I had already paid. Felt intimidating that I "had" to tip. Post tip, employee said "Thank you so much Linda." with another smile. Tipping needs to be optional after the customer paid and if it's deserving of the overall service. I do see the tip jar right next to the cashier which is nice but standing there and placing the tipping screen before paying is a big turn off. I understand we're all a little strapped but tipping shouldn't be forced. With that said, I won't be making a revisit unless I'm having a big craving for their sandwiches. Side note, while I did come on a Sunday around 9 am, there was no line. Got busier around 9:30 and onwards. read more

I recently tried the Matcha Matcha Latte, and unfortunately it was disappointing. It came out a medium-light green with no matcha foam, and it mostly tasted like overly sweet vanilla milk. I ordered the mortadella breakfast sandwich and a plain matcha latte with oat milk and agave syrup and honestly, WOW!! For such a small coffee shop, the breakfast blew me away. The sandwich was creamy, flavorful, and hands down the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. And the matcha? Delicious! This is exactly how a matcha latte should taste. Smooth, rich, and not too sweet. The kind I'd gladly come back for whenever I'm in the area. The only downside is that I wish this place was closer to me. I had to drive down to Elk Grove which takes about 25 minutes, and between the wait to order (about 15 minutes) and the 10-15 minutes for the food and drink, it's not a quick stop. Location: Located on what Elk Grove is dubbing Main Street Elk Grove, Tule represents the type of businesses that the city should be bringing to this area. Tule is one of those businesses that I will drive out of my way to grab a drink. A lot of residents seem to have a similar mindset as this place finds itself pretty busy. With a cottage exterior and quaint interior its a great place to meet up with friends. What makes it great is that it actually has a side patio and back patio for ample seating. To add to this, there is a decently sized parking lot right next to the business Service: The staff at this location is great. Attentive and friendly, this staff always seem to be busy with all the people visiting but have continued the great and relatively quick service. The beans are locally sourced from a smaller roaster in the region that really adds to the local flair. Drink/Food: I normally stick to an americano or a cold brew and have been satisfied with the quality. From the standpoint of those drinks I really enjoyed them but your mileage may vary depending on if you like the creamier or sweeter drinks. They also have a quite a bit of food options. I really love their Italian Paninis, they are well made and delicious! Shop local and support local! If you are in the area I highly recommend this over the chain coffee shop down the road.
