Dr. Cabaccan is very knowledgeable in endocrinology and truly listens to his patients. He's open to discussing your observations and opinions, which makes it easier to work together to find the right treatment plan. However, scheduling appointments is extremely frustrating. The phone line always goes to an automated system, and I've never been able to reach a real person. (My appointment was canceled last year because the doctor wasn't in the office, and I was said I will contact the office to reschedule.) It's now been six months, and I still haven't been able to book a new appointment. I've left multiple voicemails, but no one has called me back. I also live quite far from the office, so driving there just to schedule isn't practical. At this point, I honestly don't know how patients are supposed to make an appointment. it doesn't matter if the doctor is good. The office is such badly managed and so arrogant! It is hard to get a person to talk to and most of the time put on hold for more than 10 mins. Their online system to schedule appointments or get responses does not work! Getting a renewal prescription is a nightmare. You have to see the doctor if it has been over six months but then you do not get an appointment. So, they make you see a nurse practioner. Now, they would not let me see Dr Cabacaan!!! I've had a wonderful experience with Dr. Thomas Fandel and his entire team. Dr. Fandel is always patient, kind, understanding, and very professional. I especially appreciate how he takes the time to understand the struggles I'm going through and makes me feel heard and comfortable during my visits. His office manager and staff are incredibly organized and welcoming--they always make sure my appointments are scheduled properly, and the check-in process is consistently smooth and easy. I also really appreciate how respectful they are of my time. I usually never have to wait long and am in and out of my appointments efficiently without ever feeling rushed. My mom's experience with this endocrinologist was extremely disappointing. He demonstrated very poor bedside manner and little empathy for patients. Rather than considering the patient as a whole, he seemed focused primarily on achieving target laboratory values, without adequately addressing concerns about the broader clinical picture or quality of life. When concerns were raised, he became defensive instead of engaging in a constructive discussion. He even requested an apology and emphasized his Stanford background, as though his training alone should command respect. In my opinion, respect is earned through compassionate patient care, professionalism, and respectful communication--not by where one completed a fellowship. Throughout our interactions, he was dismissive, arrogant and appeared unwilling to accept reasonable feedback. Instead of listening to patient concerns, he responded in a way that felt confrontational, which was very upsetting for our family. Another recurring issue was the excessive wait time. At every appointment, patients--including my mom--waited for hours before being seen. This appeared to be a chronic problem rather than an isolated incident and reflected poorly on the organization of the practice. Based on our experience, I do not recommend this doctor. read more

Waited almost an hour to be seen. Then Dr Cabaccan walked in and seemed to be in a great rush. He was pretty much dismissing my concerns with "this is not hormone related" I only deal with hormones. Had zero interest in knowing my concerns holistically, just wanted me to tell him what symptom I had so he could tell him if an endocrinologist had anything to do with it. What an absolute egomaniac! So unprofessional. I made an appointment almost 4 months in advance, got to my appointment 30 minutes early and waited almost 1 hour for him after my appointment time. I told them I had to leave because I had a very sick child at home and they said they would call me to reschedule. They never did. This is the worst doctors office I have ever been too. The front office staff is extremely rude and argumentative. They do not follow up with patient concerns about medication. Calling back days later there is still no resolution-only will let the doctor know. The staff at the front desk is completely unprofessional. Dr. Cabaccan refused to continue as my health provider after 19+ years because I cancelled an appointment 3 days in advance, and then I missed an appointment because I was still recovering from being in the hospital for a week. I asked to speak with John he refused. Frankly, I am not even sure Dr. C knows that he discontinued my care, because all my conversations have been with the office staff; they said it was because I was not respectful of his time. I asked for everything in writing. They did not give it to me for 2 months, then it was with only a 4-day notice, leaving me to find someone to help me with my health care for diabetes, my Primary Care doctor felt he would be able to. In 2 months, his office had twice refused to refill medicine, and to my knowledge has not sent my medical records. This had be the most unethical Doctor ever! I have been a patient of his clinic for about 10 years. This year my insurance group changed and my insurance company had several mix ups which left me in insurance limbo. I first found out about the mixup when this doctor's office called me to cancel my appointment as my insurance was changing. I rescheduled my appointment as the letter from my insurance group I was in would be active until Feb 1. I drove 30 miles to my appointment only to find out my insurance group ended coverage mid January instead of February 1st as indicated in their letter. This clinic refused to see me as my insurance had terminated early. I clearly understood. I made another appointment only to find out my insurance had changed to a group that none of my doctors were members. I explained to this clinic that I had to wait 10 days to have my newly in network insurance would be active. I called this clinic to have a new prescription for my insulin called in to my pharmacy and these miserable excuses for humanity refused to call in my prescription because of my so called canceled appointments. I am filling a complaint with the state licensing board as well. I will look for a different endocrinologist. read more

Walked into the East Side location and YIKES! It was like the DMV but for medical. Lots of people behind windows and other people calling out names. No line, just people walking sitting etc. The exam room had a filthy rug that looked like it was stampeded by a million camels and their dirty feet. I wasn't wearing socks and had to stand on it. - Starts yelling at his patients - Brags about how intelligent he is - He says that people come to see him because of his brain - Arrogant - Not very intelligent because I just had to repeat the same answer to him about 4 times in a span of 5 minutes - Makes absurd claims that are just plain false, such as "I work out too, and I have more muscles than you," where he clearly does not work out very much and has no defined muscles whatsoever - The office is too small, and the staff is crammed like sardines; 4 or 5 staff members work off one bench - Phlebotomist draws blood from the kitchen (so unsanitary) - Looks down on his patients (thinks all of them are stupid) - He only sees people who have studied medicine as smart - Makes his patients wait two hours before they are seen - Comes into the room without knocking or acknowledging that he is coming in - This sorry excuse of a doctor, much less a human being, needs to be reported to the Medical Board of California read more

I saw Dr. Cabaccan, and we had a 'fallout.' He used a couple of odd statements or remarks to me as a patient which was not relevant to my medical visit. Asking questions, understanding, and knowing the answers are a patient's right. With the fallout, the visit was not completed. Dr. Thomas Fandel is very patient answering questions. The one cavaet is you will need to follow up. I have never had a doctor that I didn't need to follow up on the staff though. They are all very polite and nice to me. I though am kind of blunt so you have to work hard to offend me. They take my insurance (Medi-Cal at the moment) so I am grateful. When I get off this, I will still go to them. Dr. Fandel caught a lab result my PCP did not bring to my attention so I could make changes. If you make it your job to follow up on everything, you will be fine. He has a good bed side manner and the office staff are nice. A nurse even showed me how to inject something. One note, be careful going to the Los Gatos office when following Google Maps. It lead me to an apartment complex. You want to go to a Medical bldg. Hopefully the Google peeps fixed that 2 Dardanelli problem on Google maps by now. read more

This office has several doctors and this review is for Dr. Alex Pham. Dr. Pham is an Endocrenologist at this office and he is an exceptional doctor. Dr. Pham is super friendly, intelligent, knowledgeable, and he takes the time to really listen to you and explain things fully. He is one of the best Endocrinologists that I have ever had and I've had several great Endocrinologists. He is even willing to help me with several issues I am having including some recent weight gain and this was something that was unexpected that I'm very thankful for. This office appears to be very busy but despite that the team at this office were friendly and accommodating. They managed to squeeze me in for an appointment within 2 days of me calling them for my initial visit and then even were able to take me and see me right away even though I ended up accidentally being 20 minutes late to my appointment (due to getting lost while driving), and I really appreciated that. Just in case anyone is wondering, this office takes Santa Clara Family Health Plan (or Medi-Cal) though as far as I'm aware you need a referral from your primary care physician before scheduling an appointment here with this insurance. read more

Quality Care: GREAT - Dr. Cabaccan's nurse, Esme (spelling?), is so kind, listens and does her best to answer questions to the best of her abilities. Dr. Cabaccan: He has changed our lives for the better. Truly CARES. Has turned my Dad's diabetes around for the better and really taught us how to work as a family unit. He listens, he is patient and kind and explains everything in detail. I never feel rushed and allows us to ask questions and guides us. I am so glad I didn't come on Yelp before making an appointment with Dr. Cabaccan, he came highly recommended and I couldn't be HAPPIER!! Dr. Josel Cabaccan is the specialist that my husband's doctor recommended. Dr. Cabaccan is an expert in treating diabetes. He especially analyzed the medications that my husband takes to manage diabetes. Dr. Cabaccan made some important adjustments to my husband's list, omitting one drug and augmenting the dosage of Ozempic. Dr. Josel told us that he doesn't let his patients get to dialysis, as he works hard to help patients understand how to manage the disease. We appreciated how Dr. Cabaccan talked to us personably. It was an honor to be included in some storytelling that Dr. Cabaccan offers in a friendly way. We wish that we could follow up with him, but alas, he is under a different insurance coverage. Anyone who has a chance to be Dr. Cabaccan's patient is very fortunate. He is a busy, hardworking, and passionately excellent doctor. It was a veritable blessing to meet him. I saw him for over 10 years and should have realized that it was time to move on with a new doctor, who had not lost sight of their purpose to care and listen to the questions, that patients like me who need clear answers on the Whys. Dr Cabaccan's attitude needs to change. He needs to listen more and the response to a patient's circumstances should be empathetic, positive and engaging. Dr. Cabaccan is the best. I tried another endocrinologist before seeing him and I'm so glad I got a second referral. He takes care of my thyroid needs and makes adjustments quickly. With some ongoing health issues, my mom has come with me to appointments and he is my mom's favorite doctor of all my doctors. Dr Cabaccan truly cares about his patients. I don't feel rushed he answers all of my questions and provides excellent service.

Long in short. Don't go there. They don't care about their patients. 1. It's really hard to call them. Their auto machine said they would return your phone call within 24 hours, but they never did. You need to keep calling them at a different times to try to connect. 2. It took them more than 2 weeks to follow up on a referral. While I am suffering from my sickness and worried I won't find a good time to do my scanning in the limited time frame. I had to be the one to keep reaching them. 3. Office members don't care about patients' concerns and are being rude to their customers. After I conveyed my concerns about the schedule and told the office member I felt they are moving too slow on this. He simply said, "why you are complaining, I've already answered you and we are done". While I was trying to talk there in a normal tone, he called me "rude, and wasting time". 4. The one who's being so rude to me told me "he is the manager". I cannot believe they would like to provide such a bad experience to their patients and in the meantime, "he is the manager" not any intern. That means from the top down, they just don't care about us at all. read more

I have now called them 3 times for my medications. The first time my prescription was sent incorrectly. They have not sent all of them even though I asked them multiple time to send them all. They also are not sending me 90 days supply's as they told they would. One week after my visit and I have no prescriptions. The level of service provided by the staff is some of the worst service I have ever seen. I went there recently and the wait time was horrible, the other dr. who is new was running late. I don't know the name of the male staff member who sits up front but he has an extremely fake personality. He put me in a room that had the AC blasting. I've complained to the doctor about this staff member's attitude on the phone but nothing was done. I would absolutely not recommend this office to anyone, you're better suited to find staff that are not only personable, but doctor's who can make appointments on time.
