I have been coming here multiple times a Summer for YEARS. The food continues to be a great price, and delicious. There is something beautiful about a cocktail on the beach, especially with the views at Cabana Sam's! Don't be surprised if there is a wait for your table if it's a sunny Summer night. But know that you will be served quickly and with a smile! The last time I came for dinner, I came with 2 friends. We had appetizers, an entree each, and two rounds of alcoholic drinks, and our bill was only $115. Great view and the best beach in the area. We stopped by for a quick lunch on a boat day. I have not been here in ages so didn't have any expectations. We were seated quickly and since it was Sunday we were offered a brunch menu in addition to their standard menu. Overall the prices on the menu were reasonable. And the offerings were casual, lots of bar food, sandwiches, salads, burgers, some entrees, etc. We ordered some of the brunch specials drinks which were advertised as $3 for a Bloody Mary or a cabana cooler which was vodka, oj and sprite. For mains we had the steak and seaweed sandwich and the coconut shrimp dinner. I ordered the shrimp dinner because I was told they had sweet potato fries. The server came back out shortly to tell me they don't have the sp fries. I should have changed to the appetizer sized menus item but my significant other had enthusiasm to try the onion rings. Overall the food was just ok. The steak in the sandwich was over cooked, and I'm told the fries were very good. The coconut shrimp was cooked well but didn't have a lot of flavor. The pina colada sauce looked like a condiment cup full of mayonnaise. It didn't taste like much, didn't taste like mayo, and was slightly sweet. I used a tiny amount to eat my shrimp so they were not dry. I got mixed reviews on the onion rings. Someone said they were good and someone else said they were standard and nothing special. I also got a side salad with the dinner which was also standard, bagged iceberg lettuce variety. The bill came and the brunch drinks were $4. Not a huge deal but update your menus. Another friend ordered chicken fingers which looked very good. They were large and there were quite a few of them. I'd try those if we came back again. I would say this is a great place for drinks and a view. They have a lot of live music which is also a plus. Nothing terrible happened but the food was lacking. read more

Fish batter was way too sweet- like pancake batter. I've had sweet batter on fish before but this just did not work. Coleslaw and sauces were good. Have gone here countless times and never had a problem, recently went there and the 20 year old bouncer, John, acted like he owned the place. Took my friend's IDs who are legally 21, came over to our table and yelled at us for taking too loud, when we're a 8 top in a loud, busy restaurant, and acted like a complete jerk to everyone who walked into the restaurant/ bar. Completely ruined mine and all of my groups experience there, not sure how he got a job there but completely shocked the management lets him act the way he does to customers. A beach bar, in Buffalo?!? Okay. So not Buffalo proper, but more like Irving. It's a bit out of the way, but soooo worth the drive. Actually, there are summer cottages all along that road that you can rent out. I would absolutely do this if I weren't out of Buffalo in a few days. It reminds me of a Put-In Bay (Ohio) or a Coconuts (Florida). Everyone is just lounging around in bathing suits drinking a frosty beverage, without a care in the world. It's like they have completely forgotten that it snows here. I love it! The exterior of the bar opens up to the beach. We were there around sunset and it had a great view or the sun along the water. We kicked off our shoes and went for a walk along the beach, and let me tell you... There is just something about the feel of sand beneath your toes that makes you feel just a little more relaxed. The blood pressure drops a couple of points, and all of the stresses of the week just seem to melt away. It was awesome. Throw in a drink, and you're all set for a great afternoon. What's better than one drink? Two drinks! Obviously. The bar has a happy hour for a couple hours where they do 2-4-1 drinks in the afternoon. No shirt, no shoes, no problem! The atmosphere is super relaxed and they have loud party music playing. Small children took to dancing in the common area, providing entertainment for the adults, and what was likely a welcome break from parenting for a few minutes for that couple. They do serve food, but we didn't eat here. Definitely next time. All in all, this was just a fun and good natured place to get away, without leaving Buffalo's backyard. Yelp beach party! Very disappointing experience and horrible customer service. We had planned to go for the last night of the all you can eat crab legs so I called to make a reservation last week and was told that I didn't need to make one, that we could just walk up. So then we drive 45 mins to be told since we didn't have a reservation we can't get the crab. That they were only serving crab to the people that had reservations. I tried explaining to the waitress that I tried to make a reservation and I was told I didn't need one but she was very snarky/rude. She said she doesn't make the rules and she's not in charge of ordering the crab so there's nothing that can be done. Obviously for a place that gets really busy and has an all you can eat crab night every week and this being the last night of it, you would think they would of planned accordingly. read more

Staying at a nearby cottage we come here quite a few times. The first night they had a cruzan rum special advertised on a large poster on the wall...I tried ordering and they only had cherry flavored. The bartender went to find a plain cruzan and returned empty handed. There was zero attempt to substitute the special. Visited on 7/21 around 8-9 pm. The good: The setting is picturesque, the breeze is lovely, the restaurant is super cute and a fun place to check out after a beach visit. The hostess and woman who seated us were both very sweet and helpful. The bad: The bathrooms were incredibly disgusting. The service was terrible. Our waitress Alexis was ridiculously bad. We had to ask for water toward the end because our drinks from the bar we had purchased while waiting were far gone by then. She did not seem to want to be bothered when we finally flagged her down. We later had to ask for napkins, we never received condiments or anything else for the table, and she was impossible to locate for much of our visit. We even saw other tables getting up to get condiments from tables that had already left, so apparently it was not just us. The beer cheese fries starter came out cold and wrong and she said that the "must have gotten an old menu," then brought out fries that appeared to be covered with nacho cheese. The whole vibe was very disorganized and just plain odd. The chips that came with our meals were overcooked, oversalted, and soggy in places. The okay: my friend's crab cake po'boy was good. She was able to make 2 meals out of it because it is actually 2 full crab cakes. My grouper reuben was not great. I wasn't quite sure if it was fully cooked, but the fish tasted fine overall. By itself, the grouper was tasty. Covered with too much sweet stuff (dressing and coleslaw) and stuck between one toasted and one not-so-toasted piece of bread, it was not balanced at all and I was fairly disappointed with it. For a long time me and my friends would rent a house in Sunset and we would always go to Crab Leg Mondays. I have had very few other menu items but they were all good and the drinks are not over priced. But lets get back to the crab legs! Every year the price has gone up, but not by much and that isn't an issue its completely understandable. The crab is amazing though and they just keep bringing it until you say stop. Some of the clusters are not the best but since its all you can eat you can just skip them! It is definitely worth the money and the staff is on top of things so it makes it that much more enjoyable. The drink specials are good and the live entertainment is awesome as well. They have in door and out door seating and it is right on the beach so it has a nice view. read more

The only must visit location in Sunset Bay, Cabana Sam's is sure to not disappoint. On my return trip to Home (Buffalo) a few weeks back, my one must visit location was Cabana Sam's. As my family has a home on the bay, this made the club extremely accessible. With out of this world happy hour deals featuring BOGO drink specials and a creative list of signature cocktails served in a choice of a decorated souvenir coconut glass or a tall tumbler featuring their logo, you're certainly not to be disappointed. The restaurant itself features a wide variety of typical American fare you would expect to see on a beach bar menu, including some of my favorites such as their famous Prime Rib and All You Care To Enjoy Crab Legs! This crab special is an ABSOLUTE must do on your next trip to the bay, and I will 100% be returning on my next trip home. Finally, the last and most important crowning jewel of the establishment is not just the stellar food and beyond this world drink specials, but the staff that brings it all together. All of my interactions with the entire staff were beyond pleasant, and this in my opinion is the ultimate crowning jewel on Cabana Sam's legacy! Well done guys! read more

When you're on sunset beach, Cabana Sams is one place you'll definitely find yourself in. The service is mediocre and the happy hour specials are only at the bar, not table service. While I was at the bar, I ordered a basic rum and coke, which I found a fly in the top of my drink. I figured it flew in and got it out and kept drinking it, until there was another fly in the bottom of my drink under the ice (I then realized it didn't fly in and probably came with the ice). That creeped me out and closed my tab. Otherwise, the cheese pretzel bites are out of this world. read more

WONDERFUL place to start our Memorial Day weekend getaway!! LOVE coming back to visit my old "stomping grounds" of the WNY/Lake Erie region, and our friends we stayed with nearby are regulars here, so all the better!! For a "taste of the tropics" in one of the most unlikely spots, you can't beat this hotspot!! AWESOMELY beautiful views of the lake (pictures coming soon...) great service (though I do see how it more than likely gets CRAZY busy as the night goes on...) and great happy hour drink specials and apps.!! The atmosphere makes you feel like you are on vacation! We love it! The food it great, music is good, energy is fun. Great hip crowd.

There is an upper deck for dinning with some awesome views - I recommend getting there before sunset and then watching it - can be romantic! There is also dinning downstairs, but it can be pretty noisy at the wrong times. This IS the place to hit during summer and if you don't mind someone smoking close to you - then you should love this place. There are as many good points as bad - depending on who or what you are. Good food, good selection, reasonably priced, lots of flesh strolling by - guys and gals, decent free parking, great views, a bit of cigarette smoke flowing about, noisy, accepts credit cards, entertainment from time to time, sometimes obnoxiousness people. Please let's not even talk about bathrooms and cleanliness - normally not too good! read more

Tried to come out twice for their all you can eat crab legs. First time out they had about a 2 hour wait - then the second time I called ahead and asked if there was a wait - they said no and the later you come the better off you will be. I explained I live about 30-40 minutes out and asked if I can get a reservation but they wouldn't allow it. I came later as they suggested and was told about a 45 minute wait and no guarantees that we can get crab legs. Thanks for nothing and wasting the drive time there and back. I have been to Cabanna Sam's lots of times and I just can't give a review better than two stars. Every time I go there, I want the food to be really good and I want the experience to be great, and it is just not. The location of this Resturant is great. It is right on the beach in sunset bay and is a piece of the triple force the owner has on the businesses in this vicinity. Every time I have come here for lunch or dinner, i end up annoyed by the crappy furniture. I feel like as a Resturant, they do not know what they do. The menu is all over the place. I think they would pick one thing and figure out how to do it really well rather than offering every single thing and missing the target. My family is really into crab, so at least once a year we head to the all you can eat crab night. Most recently, it was truly disappointing with extremely slow service and a messy table when we sat down. If it wasn't for the location, I would give this place one star. If you are visiting sun set bay for the day and need lunch or dinner, skip this place and head to one of the many, much better restaurants on 5&20. read more

Whenever I come to Sunset Bay, this is my go to restaurant. The food is good, yet, in reality, merely sub par. The view is beautiful- overlooks the entire beach- and the environment is always lively with dancing, DJ's, or a band. However, my friend and I went for a girls night just yesterday and had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to be taken care of. After waiting 40 minutes, we had to alert the young lady who seated us that we were STILL waiting for a waitress to come. At this point, we were considering leaving, but we were hesitant since there aren't many other restaurants that aren't fast food in the area. The waitress finally came over, and we had pity on her because she was so kind. However, we were still upset with out wait time considering the little crowd in the restaurant.
