Called them and left a message concerning an online item, they called back 2 days later. I placed my order on Friday the 19th, to be shipped to my local Bass Pro. I grew up near a Bass Pro Shop so while this was technically my first time at Cabela's, it's in the same family of stores. While it's smaller than the massive outdoor stores, it was organized, well-stocked, and has a great selection of clothing, gear, and gifts. They have a beautiful fireplace and sitting area by the entrance that sets a "cozy cabin in the mountains" vibe. One of the first things you see is the beloved aquarium - always the highlight for the kids and what I remember from similar stores growing up. Next, what we really came for. We visited to see Santa with our toddler and had a wonderful time. You can pre-register to ensure your spot for a FREE photo, and those that walk in can wait in line once those that registered in advance are through. I saw everything from families in matching PJs to couples with their dogs and I was all about it. Once they snap the photo, you get a free printout and can opt to purchase additional if desired. They even gave a festive little wooden frame, which is currently hanging on our fridge and bringing me joy. This setup to see Santa was memorable, efficient, and perfect for a wiggly toddler. Cabelas is for the serious outdoor enthusiast. Think hunting, guns, fishing, etc, Not sports equipment like Dicks. They do carry quality clothing for Men, Women and children. We went primarily to entertain a 4 year old on a very cold day. Kids will love the decor of all the animals and the live aquarium. There is a toy section but it's heavy on guns. My first time shopping at Cabela's which is like Bass Pro where I have shopped a lot in Clarksville. They are both owned by the same corporation now. The stores are "lavish" in decor. I saw a whole family a deer plus a whole family of turkeys displayed in habitats. Whatever outdoor experience you are shopping for, they have an extensive inventory providing you with many choices. I came to buy camping equipment for an upcoming trip next month. I had $300 worth of stuff in a full basket in no time. Some stuff I came to buy purposely, other stuff just because it was cool. I am a sucker for high tech adventure gear. Ever since I moved to Tucson in 2002 and began hiking every mountain trail they have, I've learned that expensive high tech gear can make your life so much more comfortable and fun when doing adventure sports. My drive time was a full hour from Mooresville. I wonder if the Indy metro area would support a second store in perhaps Avon or Greenwood. Noblesville is a bit of a trek for me to shop here regularly which I would love to do. I found the prices are not too high. The more expensive gear is more top of line. A Coleman 2 burner camp stove that takes the white gas for instance was $139, which is the exact same price as Walmart. read more

I went to your store today to buy the ar style shotgun and was profiled. I came into your store by myself and saw some of my co workers also shopping, and was immediately profiled because we were all black. I have never been so racially profiled in all my life like I was today.I did not know if you go into a store and see someone you know that you are not allowed to buy the same thing that they are buying. I tried to purchase the gun and was told I can not walk out with it even though I have my concealed weapons license, I thought that having your license meant that you are able to buy a weapon you want, that's what having your licenses means even though you do not need a license to buy one. What an experience! This isn't really *my* type of store I would frequent but it's worth it to just walk through (and pick up some fudge - the Hoosier fudge is unique to this store!). Expect: camo, ammo, fake animals, firearms, camping equipment, ATVs, fishing rods, tents, clothing...pretty much everything you may need related to the great outdoors. I enjoyed browsing their plethora of products. Stop by the fish tank/waterfall/nature scene in the back of the store - incredible when you realize this is in a retail store. On my visit, there was a visit from a hunting labrador retrievers group - I got to pet four labs and the owners took the time to tell us more about them and what they do. As an outdoor guy, these kind of establishments are just south of heaven. I haven't been to this one yet and so, being in the area, I wanted to check it out. It may not be the biggest one that I have been in, but it is very nice and they would have everything that you need. If not, there are kiosks and also actual human beings that will help you find what you're looking for. As my wife and I were roaming around the store, there were very many friendly employees that were willing and ready to help us find whatever we might be looking for. On this trip, we weren't looking for anything in particular so they had an easy job with us. The store was very neat and clean, in spite of some construction and changing displays in the store. My wife commented on the niceness of the restroom. This is something that is a big "gotcha" for many establishments, but this one has passed the Wife-Test. Overall, my experience at this Cabela's was really good. I not only plan on coming back but bringing some other folks with me next time. read more

They have bedding, clothing, shoes, hunting and fishing supplies, camping gear, boating, grills, generators, guns, ammunition, and outdoor gear. We drove to Cabella's to find a gun case my husband was going to order on-line. We'd never been here before and thought it would be fun to explore. Not the biggest outdoor store I've ever been to, but it's pretty amazing all of the stuff they have for camping / hunting / hiking / outdoor enthusiasts. They have a big selection of shoes and boots, socks, clothing, coats, jackets and outdoor wear. The prices for the name-brand stuff were comparable to other places. They have their own Cabela's brand of shoes and clothing that look well-made and modern, and these are reasonably priced. If for nothing else, you should come to Cabela's to see their gigantic aquarium full of all sorts of fish! The kids zeroed-in on it right away and spent a lot of time ogling the display. They also got a kick out of all of the taxidermied animals around the store (for better or worse). read more

I've shopped Cabela's for years and have always found my experience at least interesting. Was in recently and noticed many customers not wearing face masks walking by employees who said nothing. I immediately left the store out of safety concerns. Wrote a note to the manager and even corporate. Nothing was responded to. Returned one more time. The same was true - several people wearing no mask and employees saying nothing - and management who clearly cares nothing about being covid-responsible. I won't be returning. I simply don't want to support a company that isn't actively concerned with helping protect people during the pandemic. There are better more responsible options out there. read more

When I first came there to buy a couple of pistols the guy at the counter and the manager at the front desk were both rude. When I came back I told him which guns I wanted and the guy brought out the wrong pistol which I didn't know until checkout because they looked alike. I said to him the gun I asked for was over $800 and asked him if it was on sale he said "huh it must be" knowing he had given me the wrong gun. Well I got to the car and started thinking about it and I wanted the gun I asked for. So I called into the store before I got too far away, but again was met by a rude store associate. I told him I was sold the incorrect gun and he kept trying to act like he didn't understand what I was saying. Then eventually said "I mean are you wanting us to charge you more for the one you got or what" in a very sarcastic way and then had the nerve to chuckle as well. I said no I just want the correct gun and he finally said "the only difference with the two is that yours doesn't have a site mount". So the whole time going back and forth with me he knew I was sold the wrong gun. At this point I was just drained dealing with this store. So I let it go but I will NEVER be back! Called customer service to remedy the situation immediately and they "need me to come in" why? I have the receipt in had I have all the info you need on it. What year is it? A fairly common theme in my reviews is that you can't compare what you are reviewing with the superlatives available elsewhere in the world. For example, if you compare this 80,000 square foot Cabelas to the 225,000 square foot Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan, this would be a fail. The aquarium in the Dundee Cabelas is on an entirely different level and, by itself, is almost worth a drive to see. But this store saves you from the 3.5 hour drive to Dundee, Michigan. Having said that, compared to other available options in the metro Indy area, this is absolutely five stars. The selection is huge and the prices are aggressive. The service is plentiful and exceptional (though I am sure they beefed it up for opening). For at least some items if they are out of stock they will ship it to your house for free. This store will be a solid option for outdoorsy types in the Indy area for years to come. read more

Really enjoy shopping at this store. They always have everything Im after or didn't even know i was after! The staff is generally very knowledgable in their specific areas/sections and are able to answer all questions. The customer service area is great and very quick to solve any troubles you might have. The one area that is absolutely horrible are the cashiers at the check out registers. Every time I have visited the store it takes FOREVER to get through the check out no matter how many are in line. the cashiers seem to run on a very slow energy and are not on top of their position. This is the only reason I can NOT give five stars. I have had occasion to just put down my items and leave the store rather than wait. also they do not seem to open new lanes depending on how many are in line. Bottom line the store and most employees are outstanding but anything related to the checkout registers/cashiers is HORRIBLE. read more

JUNK!!!! Horrible Cabela brand Fishing Rods with very little customer support... Long story short - bought a combo rod and reel in Feb for use in summer- Medium Heavy Cabela's brand Fish Eagle 54 two piece rod and Shimano Sedona spinning reel combo... Got the reel strung mid-July and went to use - the rod tip broke at about 8 inches from the top after about an hour of use, the pole was barely bent... I hadn't even caught a fish with it yet... I take the rod and reel back with the receipt, and was then told by their customer service person that there was only 90 day warranty and there was nothing they could do... I get the 1-800 number and get the same corporate run around - with the exception that he wants to sell me another of the same type of rod at a small discount... U GOT TO BE KIDDING ME...!!! So this appears to be their game - sell u crappy products ( especially in Dec Jan Feb ) at a discount knowing that probably won't use them until the 90 day warranty is over and then your stuck with the crap... The horrible customer support reinforces it for me - and the standard corporate response to my problem where they must have said 20 times there is nothing they can do (when clearly there is a product defect with this product) I will never buy a fishing rod at Cabela's again !!! read more
