We rented from them with the understanding the property would be SAFE, CLEAN, and AS ADVERTISED. None of which was as expected. Rented a place that said ping pong and foosball was in loft for kids, soap/shampoo would be in the bathrooms, it would be clean and my own assumption safe for kids and adults. What we got was: Broken ping pong table Broken foosball table Unsafe bunk beds that nobody over 40 pounds should ever sleep on Broken/cracked safety railing in loft Broken glass on carpet and in shelves (which daughter cut her finger on!) Dirt every ware upstairs and down. Have many pictures to show it. Flooring still had food on it in kitchen and dinning area. Broken oven handle (not there) Broken door knobs Insanely stained carpet and coach! Wood planks drilled in over the stained carpet on the stairs making it very difficult to walk on. NO shampoo or soap in either bathrooms. Just empty holders in shower that were bone dry! Broken dish washer. And so much more. I contacted management company several times to describe how unsafe, unsanitary, and not as described only to get rude, sarcastic remarks back. They never even provided information to me on when it was last cleaned! When I told them I was going to inform City code enforcement so nobody else will go through what we did, the owner responded that the City code does not apply to them! Unbelievable! For the $200 plus they charge you can get MUCH nicer and safe places all over big bear. You will also be assured that a different place will have a higher chance of actually being cleaned before check in. After reserving cabin 14 for our weekend outing my friend told me to check out Yelp on the ratings. I was a little pissed off that I didnt think to check this out before. When we got up there we went in to cabin and was surprised it was very nice. Yes it was small but who cares its only for sleeping anyway.. Cabin 14 has almost instant HOT water,(3rd degree burns could apply here). Lots of heat from heater on wall, looks like a totally remodeled bathroom. I was happy to not have any of these problems that others say they experienced. And the owners are very nice and helpful. For the price will consider staying here again.. One Tip don't go to Pongs Chinese food across from Walgreens..... read more

(fake flowers over bed, cheap, frilly shower curtains, neat old pics of the cabin could be framed nicely, updated bed cover) -Wall needs patching up/cleaning up in the kitchen area. -Nice tile floor in part of the room, but the carpet area needs a good steam cleaning. -Nice gas stove, worked well. Easy to control with thermostat on wall. -TV up high so you can watch comfortably from bed. -Jacuzzi tub would be fun, but even after following filling instructions (on the wall) I didn't have enough hot water. That's okay. Still had decent baths. :) -Wasn't expecting to have to make my own bed for what I paid. :/ -Would recommend they used white, hotel-style bedding and towels vs personal home bath towels and sheets/pillow cases. (I'm not a big germaphobe but it's nice to use fresh, clean linens that look it.) -Property Manager was super, super nice. -I love the big, wood bathroom door. :) Love the high ceiling with wood beams. Brown recluse spiders, we killed 4 of them. Some window screens missing, just outside one window, a large spider web. A gap under front door to allow more crawlers to come in. Plumbing issues, only one shower worked. Upstairs beds were very uncomfortable. l will never come back to such a poorly managed cabins. Glad to be out of there. read more

There were 7 of us who stayed in cabin 0. We were all pretty pleased with the place and especially the price! For 2 nights, it ended up being about $45 per person! The staff was super friendly and helpful. There was one bathroom and 2 bedrooms: one with 2 bunk beds, and one with a king bed and a twin bed. The living room had two futons...one was very comfy and the other one frumpy and not good to sleep on at all. I was pleased to see that the kitchen had a fridge and freezer so that we could make breakfast in the cabin and save some money, and we could also put our leftovers in the fridge to eat for the next day. They also included a microwave and toaster. The office also sold some food items just in case you forget to grab anything from the grocery store. There was a TV with cable and you can also rent DVDs. Yes, you have to bring your own towels and sheets, and possibly toilet paper. But they send their first email and highlight it in red so you can't miss that detail. Make sure to bring your other personal toiletries. They gave a little bar soap and some shampoo. But nothing luxurious. I thought it was also nice that they provided a clean sponge and dishwashing soap so we could clean up our dishes. The gave plenty of pots and pans, utensils, plates, cups...you name it...it was there. I guess for not expecting to stay at a luxurious hotel, Cabins 4 less exceeded my expectations. I would go there again. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because it's not the cleanest place I've stayed in. Some people might be paranoid about that. I figured I'd be in the mountains and dirty from the outdoors anyway, so I didn't care much. And the other reason why I gave it 4 stars is cuz when we rented the bikes from them, the tires weren't pumped and half the helmets were cracked. They really should provide better equipment. Although for $2 rental for bikes, what do you expect?! Aside from the bikes, renting the kayaks for cheap (I think it was $5 ) was an awesome experience. I had a lot of fun with that. read more

My husband, two child and I have been using them for years and have never had any problems with the cleanliness of any of the cabins we have rented. All of the appliances have been in working order. We have also never had any problems with over billing in fact they are quite old fashion in that respect! Stayed in cabin #47 for a couple of days and couldn't be comfier. As I understood that this is a cabin rental -- not a motel or B&B -- I brought my own towels and bedding. The cabin was within walking distance of The Village, had parking right in front of the cabin's door, and had a fridge and microwave for leftovers I kept bringing back. The bed was comfortable, the heater worked fine, there was plenty of hot water. There was also a little table and chairs so I could sit outside and gaze up at the full moon through the pines. Check-in was fast and friendly. I stayed there in the early autumn (before the ski crowds arrive) and it was very quiet and peaceful. A good bargain -- hopefully I'll be back! read more

Our first time staying here. Mom & 2 young sons with 4 friends in the cabin right next door to us on the lakefront & it was great! Cabin had everything we needed & housekeeping made sure we had what we needed before they left for the day. #51 $ #52 have an area for kids to play & ride scooters that is safe. Stayed in a cute cabin for my birthday. Had a really nice view of the lake! The only downfall was there was a lot of construction going on during our visit and woke us up pretty early! However, I will use cabins4less again but in the winter time! Dog friendly, and check in and out was very easy! I recommend bringing your own towels, sheets and blankets! read more

This place is dirty, dusty, small and horrible. We turned around and came back home after half hour. The dust in the cabin made me sick (allergies) after 15-20 min. You could see the dust hanging from the ceiling fan. We got half of our money back. We took our Labrador retriever with us and it was too late to find a new place at that time of day yesterday. We laughed this morning in the comfort of our home how it would have been waking up in Cabins4Less and my husband said: "no way, no how, I could have stayed there." ... And we are people who have camped and backpacked. It was hard driving 3.5 hours each way but, that is how it goes sometimes. . Cabins4Less website does good job of marketing the place and activities but it is not what it seems. My mistake for not doing my homework. I didn't see many people staying there. Sometimes you find a diamond and sometimes you find charcoal. Cabins4Less is plain charcoal. read more

Unprofessional operation and beware of giving them your credit card number. We decided not to stay after checking out the accommodations, but, they said our credit card had already been charged for the full four nights and that there was no refund. I am currently trying to get the bank to reverse the charge and may end up having to pay $400 for a place I never stayed in. They don't use a normal check-in and check out procedure. If they have your credit card number they will charge it whether you stay or not. read more

I loved staying here to relax and enjoy some R&R. The only issue we had was the furnace not working for heat. Luckily, it wasn't insanely cold at night but it could've helped in feeling less chilly. I had cabin #18. This was a nice place but the floor was dirty and the bath tub was dirty. We had to pay for towels and sheets that should've been supplied. The windows are broken in the upstairs bathroom. The washer and dryer need to be worked on. The cabin is very homey and there is no problem with keeping the room warm. The water was warm. The cabins are very good though they just need to be upgraded some. This is a very nice cabin though I would recommend it. That is the reason for my 4 stars. read more

Let me first say the ONLY reason I am giving them one star is because of the location! This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed. Our bathroom sink was clogged, our TV didn't work, the mattress felt like I was sleeping on a rock, it was very noisy with families (if you are looking for a romantic getaway forget it) and the gentlemen who owns it was rude and quite condesending. Since our TV was not working I asked if they had any DVD's we could use. He said yes but limited me to 1 because others may want to use them too. That would be understandable but he had at least 100 DVD's and he was about to close! Then, the next day he came to our cabin in the morning to tell us the cable guy was there and needed to come into our unit! Unacceptable! When I went to play the DVD's that night I noticed he had taken them back. Then he had the nerve to ask for them! My boyfriend said you already came into the unit and took them. What a jerk!!! I also left behind a pair of boots there and when I confronted them I was told that they were a reputable company and would have returned them. What a joke! I HIGHLY DO NOT SUGGEST YOU STAY HERE! Never again! We had an issue with the heater and possible carbon monoxide because all 3 of us were getting headaches for the whole stay. I was very concerned on the last night when I found out that I was not the only one with the headaches and my wife is also pregnant, so I called the listed number 909-273-0213. When this man showed up he was not too happy because according to him it was so late so he was very loud and kind of slamming the heater. I had to ask him not to be so rude and have some consideration since my kid was sleeping. He didn't offer a better option either such as an electric heater. In addition he was talking to me like I didn't speak the language not knowing that I'm a veteran. Anyway, I will not be wasting my time writing these lines if he was not rude. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked a cabin last summer, but the week before we were scheduled to arrive, I read several (8+) reports of BED BUGS at this location and I cancelled our stay. When I told them our reasons for our cancellation, we were not given a refund, just a credit. After I found out that they had replaced all of their mattresses (basically confirming the fact that they had a bed bug outbreak), I rebooked for another date and paid another booking fee. Unfortunately, this time we had to cancel again (a week in advance) for personal reasons. The owner refused to issue a credit this time because she said it was our second cancellation. I reminded her that the first cancellation was due to the bed bug outbreak. She was VERY RUDE and refused to acknowledge this fact or to reach a compromise. Since then, we have found many nice places to stay in Big Bear. Don't waste your money here! read more

Second time staying at Cabins 4 less....first experience was ok...stayed in a lakefront hotel style room about a year ago which was pleasant so I decided to try it again...this visit/stay was horrible....I'm not a person to usually complain so please don't get me wrong....we went on a last minute trip on January 7th and when we called to book, the lady was really nice and told us she had a one nighter cabin left which was one of their nicer Cabins #32....that was not the case.....the cabin was not very clean, (specially the kitchen) there was mold in and around the shower, there was a big crack in the upstairs ceiling and there was trash bags left outside from previous visitors I assume, the blankets were dingy looking and thank god I brought my own dishes and plates....I could tell my husband and boys were not comfortable at all....my boys wouldn't even use the shower, they said it was gross! I did contact Cabins 4 less and let them know there was a few issues that needed attention and sent pics....I was told they would be forwarded to management and I would be contacted....To this date no one has ever bothered to call or contact me in any way which is poor customer service and proves they could care less..Needless to say I will not be returning nor would I recommend it to anyone! I have already warned friends & family about staying there....I was told I was being given a discount rate of $200 a night for one of their "BEST" Cabins #32....So far from the truth!!!! came here for a mid week summer getaway. a couple days after memorial day weekend my fiancé and i were looking for some fresh air and found Cabins 4 less online. being a little hesitant i booked Cabin #1 near bolder bay. upon arrival to the cabin we couldn't help but notice how cute these small little free standing cabins are. each one is slightly different. the inside was ADORABLE for just 2 people and a small dog. living room and bedroom was "Cozy" and the kitchen had just enough room to prepare simple meals. the big deal for me was the fireplace which kept the entire cabin very warm. so warm we left all the windows open just so we wouldn't cook. but we loved it. i really enjoyed that the cabins all had a BBQ and table outside which made our picnics that much more enjoyable and were able to breath in the fresh air. the staff was very friendly answering any questions i had. we loved our little cabin and will defiantly book again. this is perfect for couples that are looking for a little getaway. i would imagine it would get a little crowded if there was more than 2 in a 2-4 person cabin. anywhoo we will be back, probably booking the tulip ave cabins. thanks for the stay staff. you made it very enjoyable. read more

We stayed here last valentine weekend so the rate is x2 of there normal they consider it somekind of a holiday . Im giving it 2 star because the Jacuzzi was Awesome so where's the other three? First of all the heater is not doing its job.. And we can't attend to the fire place while were asleep. I should have brought my own pillow. Kitchen doesn't have a dishwashing liquid i mean theres a bottle but 'twas almost empty. There's no good parking but that's nature so no one to blame. i should have just shovel it. Oh! by the way, they also let you borrow some sled for 2 hours!! YES! 2 hours! What?!.. so that other guest will have them too.. sounds fair, except for we ask the couple next door and they say they have their sled without limit, so why us? Because we're Asians?! nah!I know its a family own business but I don' t see any hospitality Pat i think she's a person who's smile is very expensive. I hate that she let us out of the cabin at 11 AM with our luggage she let us wait at the cold outside because our pick up was late for 30 mins. I would completely understand if the guest is already there but no, we even let the housekeeping in by 10:30 theres no problem about that since were just waiting to go I just don't like that Pat almost kick us out of the cabin She can talk to us in a nice way.. i would understand. but she didn't care! We just got back from #53 for fourth of July stay and had a great time..Disreguard all those negative reviews and believe me it is very nice to stay here! It was clean, bug free, private and quiet. If you can go get a charter fishing boat from Hollaways marina and ask for Mathew he is very good and we caught two big Trout! My grand son and I never fished before and he was really helpful! Stop gripping about only one roll of toilet paper, no sheets or towels etc and pack for your stay It is not a Hotel but a cabin you rent! If you want to be pampered go to a resort and stop looking for high class Hilton at cheap prices! We will be back read more

Recently stayed in their 3b 2b cabin 100 and we have mixed feelings about our stay. The definite plus was the customer service. All the ladies including the owner were very nice and accommodating as well as helpful when we were stuck because of the snow. If trying them out I'd definitely keep in mind that this isn't a 5 star resort and while the staff was on point, many of the common amenities were not working. There was no working heat throughout the cabin which we weren't informed. I would suggest bringing extra blankets and pillows. The furniture appeared to be very worn out as well as kitchens appliances. There was no microwave. And the washer and dryer also did not work which was disappointing as when we woke up in the morning the carpet was soaked from the snow that evidently somehow came in through the door which was never even opened so our belongings got soaked and we couldn't dry them in the dryer as it was inoperable. Needless to say it wasn't a horrible experience. I would just be prepared and the price was reasonable for our last minute adventures. read more

Boyfriend and I stayed in cabin #21. Booking, check-in, and check-out was easy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We get to the cabin and after reading reviews i was not expecting a 5-star stay. But the second we walk in my boyfriend killed 3 spiders on the ceiling. Yuck. We were on edge the whole time about bugs. We did bring our own sheets and blankets so that we didn't have to use theirs. The jacuzzi when filled had pet hair in it and smelled like sewer. The bathroom smelled like mold and it obviously has to have mold considering the shower from upstairs in cabin #22 leaked into our bathroom. Although The shower did have decent water pressure and was fairly clean. There were ants on the stove, the bed was very uncomfortable, and we did not feel comfortable staying there and worried about all the spiders and bugs we ran into. We were happy to leave and unfortunately won't be coming back. read more

Saw this cabin on Groupon and decided to give it a try for our one year anniversary. We were very happy with our 2 night stay. The cabin was pretty basic but that was expected (the website has images of each cabin). And since we bought through Groupon I knew they weren't going to put us in the presidential cabin :) ! I was also pleased with how informed they kept me. A week before our stay I got an email of exactly what to bring. The day before our stay I got another email with the big bear weather for cast for during our stay. Since there was possible snow in the forecast they let me know exactly where to go for the best deal on chains for my tires. I had never been to big bear so those emails kept me on top of things! Our cabin #41 had a full kitchen also pots, pans, plates, glasses, utensils, soap, a sponge etc. We cooked so those things came in handy! Our cabin was also right next to all these cute gift shops and even a movie theater! On our second day we walked to the lake which was simply breathtaking. I would recommend Cabins 4 less and we will definitely be back. read more

The name of their cabins should be "crap4more" I paid $279.00 per night + 8% tax + 2.5% resort assoc. fee for the honor of staying in a rodent infested (yes, there was a mouse) cabin with broken furniture (futon and an armchair) the bottom step for the ladder on the bunks gave-way when my daughter tried to climb up. She fell back and hit her head. When I complained to mgmnt. they said that we wouldnt be charged for broken furniture that they already knew about and never asked how my daughter was. The toilet needed plunging daily, people walked in to our cabin daily looking for the office. We asked to be changed into another cabin was not granted that request. There was exposed wires from the ceiling, missing drawers in the kitchen. The furniture was all extremely old and worn especially in the living room. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! THIS PLACE SUCKS FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY. They should be able to put some of that money back into their business! read more

The old adage applies: you get what you pay for. And we didn't pay much... About $89 a night for a one bedroom/side room that slept five. But maintenance was on a very long vacation: Why not replace the light bulbs when they break? Or the lamp shades when they are cracked? Or sew the curtains when they rip? Or the coffee pot when the handle is broken off? Or ensure that there's at least one frying pan where the non-stick surface wasn't scraped off so that breakfast was full of little toxic bits? Or enough forks for those who slept there? Or chairs? The list goes on and on. Bring your own bedding, (including the blankets, pillows), cups, cookware, utensils and coffee pot and it's a GREAT DEAL! The people are lovely, and very willing to help and accommodate where they can. We had a ball with the bikes, for $2 an hour... As a single mom it really helped with four boys! But I do wish I had known to bring the items I list above - I brought one very small pan and had to cook for five with it! I struggled! read more

Well first of all, I call to let them know we would be checking in early and the guy assures me he will do his best to get us in asap. I said I was a few minutes away and he sarcasticly informs me the office wouldn't be open for 15 minutes which I stated wouldn't be a problem because we had to stop first. We show up and AS we are walking in the guy says to the other office associate "oh great here they come" which I found very unprofessional. He was referring to us because we had just called in advance (as they suggested) Then the rude guy leaves and the lady helping us says we can't check into our room yet, even though the confirmation email says you can check in as early as 9am in nice blue bold letters. She said we can "check in" but not enter our room until further notice. I personally think they need to specify their details a little better. Now sitting here reading all these reviews i regret coming here in the first place. read more

We looked for a pet friendly cabin to rent for a weekend stay. Family members gathered for a Birthday so we rented three small cabins. The cabins had new queen size beds and a futon which could sleep two. They were a little rustic but very well maintained. The staff was great in accommodations and there to help you 24 hours a day if there were any problems. Great price for the stay and only charged you nine dollars for your dog as a one time pet fee. Couldn't beat that and our cabin even had a small fenced in yard! We will be back! read more

This company has the least compassionate people working for them I have ever experienced. My father had a massive heart attack so I had to cancel my reservation with them 48 hours in advance. I offered to provide any documentation needed to prove he was in the ICU and of his condition in an attempt to get a full refund. They declined. I called to discuss over the phone and see if anything could be done. The manager on duty told me she could do nothing to help me and if I wanted to wait a few days and call back to speak to the owners I could because they were out of town due to medical issues. She explained she could do nothing to help me because they had held the room for over 1 month. I'm sorry but 1 month ago I forgot to pencil into my schedule that my father would be having a massive heart attack on mother's day. I will NEVER use this company ever. The fact that you mention the owners medical issues then don't acknowledge mine, not even an "I'm sorry". I won't patronize a business that has such crass and unsympathetic employees working for them. read more

Well, we're here now for better or worse. The fact that we got in around 12:30 and could check in without a hassle was great. The downside is that our cabin, and it looks like all the cabins are surrounded by 5-6 inches of water topped off by a couple inches of snow. Literally, we're parked in water and our shoes got completely soaked just getting from the car to the cabin. I didn't bring galoshes and even the bf's hiking shoes are soaked. I can understand an inch or more of water but 5? The toilet ran all night no matter how many times you jiggle the handle. And to top it all off, this morning we found used coffee in the coffee maker with no new coffee anywhere near the basket of filters, sugar, and equal. There's no wood for the fireplace though I think the ad said we'd get wood at check in. We'll see what happens. I'll keep u posted. On the plus side, the kitchen seems stocked with everything you'd need to make breakfast: toaster,skillet, etc. The sheets were clean and the place looks just like the pictures on the internet. And the wall heater works surprisingly well at heating the whole cabin. read more

I was a little hesitant when booking this place since some of the reviews are really bad. Nevertheless, I needed a weekend away. We stayed over a Friday and Saturday night and paid $220. The 1 bedroom cabin was very quaint and quite perfect for what we wanted. Everything was clean. We took advantage of the kitchen and brought our own sheets, blankets, and pillows. Although, they provided 4 pillows as well. We also used the fireplace which was perfect. The heater worked marvelously as it dipped down into the 30's at night. Boulder Bay park is litteraly a 2 block walk away and the office was one block away. All the cabins in our little area were occupied, but the noise level was never bothering. We went fishing by the dam and the fish were jumping out of the water everywhere. Our trip was too short and I hope to return soon. Oh, and everytime I went to the office (3 times), there was a different person, but each one was very polite and welcoming. Great customer service. read more

In the past few months we had previously used cabins 4 less, the first time I couldn't really complain it was a comfy lil cabin and the price was a bargain, so the next week we came again but unfortunately got stuck with a tiny 1 bedroom unit but either way it was ok besides a few minor problems, which brings us to the third time which could have been worked out but went downhill quickly. We called in as usual told them we are repeat customers they said they have two available. When we get there they can clearly see me and wife with three young kids, the gentleman behind the desk says he has a cabin in the village of big bear. He did mention it was not the biggest of cabins, so we said can we see it before we make our decision. He than replies I have already turned down two potential customers away because I was saving it for you. Which was not true because we were originally supposed to get a condo by the lake which once he had seen kids had advised us of no kids in condos. We were kinda put on the spot at that point, longer story short they knew the size of our family and book us anyways into a 400 sq ft studio with a queen size bed. They were still cleaning when we got there so after my wife took a look around we both agreed there was not enough room in there to accommodate our family. So no biggie we just called back in and asked if they had anything bigger or if not we might have to cancel. By the time I drive back to their office they already refunded my charge to my credit card after taxing me $40 for cancelling which I was never made aware of beforehand and even though they knew we had reservations as to the size of place that they clearly knew would be to small in the first place. Great price for two people in a cute (albeit tiny) cabin. Cabin was just big enough for a small (clean) bathroom, a bit of extra room around our firm, comfortable bed, a jacuzzi en suite (which we only ended up using to give the dog a quick rinse one day), a mini-kitchen, a small room heater, tv, and other various little appliances and decorations. Our cabin was in a nice little group of other cabins with some friendly neighbors, a fun environment! Plus, we didn't have to pay crazy high prices to bring our dog on our outdoor vacation, and no one minded that she's a large dog and not under 20lbs. Great time! read more
