It was a very busy weekend in big Bear with the Fourth of July weekend and we stayed here based on availability. Overall, the proper is a bit dated but makes up for it in square footage of the rooms. Not sure if all rooms are laid out this way, but ours had a separate bedroom that seemed almost like a second hotel room. When you entered, you were in a vestibule with a door going left and a door going right, each two separate rooms, one with a bed and one with a kitchen and a fold away bed, both with bathrooms and fireplaces! We enjoyed the hot tub and the barbecue areas. The hot tub is especially nice with very firm jets and a lovely view of a tree covered empty lot next-door. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location is central to just about everything in Big Bear. We enjoyed staying here very much and are already planning our next stay here in Big Bear. read more

Love this place! This is our second stay here. We love the setup. Perfect for family vacation. We make the kids sleep on the pullout bed in the living room. The previous room had a dining table instead of the bar. I like that better for space reasons. But still super functional. The kitchenette is top notch. We stayed longer this time and rented movies from the lobby. The amenities are so nice and luxurious. It's so quiet. I only saw other people the last day of our stay and they were in the room across. You would have never known! The direct tv does seem to need to be rebooted a couple times and our dvd was unplugged when we first got there so I was wondering why I couldn't get it to work. But everything here is great, clean and super affordable. The lodge staff were are all great, friendly, and helpful. I can't wait to go back next year. read more

Checkin was easy - the staff friendly, and asking pertinent questions so you walk away with what you need. Putting this in early for those with mobility issues - 3 stories, no elevator. I didn't see rooms that don't need stairs to access. Our room was large. Kitchen well stocked with what you need (even a tea kettle!). Fridge cold enough it froze our green onions! Two full bathrooms, two fireplaces (that worked), king bed and (assuming a foldout) couch for sleeping. I'd describe the decor as "minor level mountain core" - wood, stone & a few animal figurines. The shower in one bathroom needed snaking - but we just told them as we checked out and used the other one. We regularly saw the handyman wandering around so no doubt they'd have come to deal with it if we wanted. Everything was clean, organized, and all appliances worked. Thoughtful touches (like the tea kettle cord stored IN the kettle) were everywhere. The furniture was comfy, the carpet fine, lots of extra pillows and a few blankets, fans for use, and even a vaccum. I think there were DVDs to borrow in the rec room/lobby where the pool table resides. The complex is on a fairly busy road, but was far enough back that it was minor background noise (heard only when we had the windows open). Wouldn't have even known there were others staying there it was that quiet (mid week). The hot tub, while small, was marvelously hot. The pool looked great - we just weren't interested. Made use of one of two propane bbqs - they have tools to borrow (which we did.) we had covered parking, but it is first-come for that. We were here for just a short respite from living downtown - and cuz of miscellaneous food sensitivities (and budget) we prefer to cook. If the kitchen is an important feature - worry not. The only thing they seemed to be missing was baking supplies - bring a sheet pan or your multi-purpose dish. You're covered for pretty much everything else. read more

This was a great place! The property is a close 20 min walk to "The Village" on Pine Knot Ave where there a lot of cute shops, restaurants, a theater & bowling alley. And the other direction a bit further are grocery stores and more great restaurants. This property is just off the main road that goes through town and if you don't want to hear noise off the Main Street, I suggest requesting the back building, which is further back on the property. The have plentiful parking that stretches to the back of the property and there are a handful of covered parking spaces. They have a nice community space in the office with a pool table and tons of board games. There is also a nice outdoor BBQ area with 2 grills and tables. They also have a pool and jacuzzi. All the rooms here are essentially one bedroom apartments with a separate bedroom & bathroom and then a living room / kitchen and another bathroom. Both bathrooms look like they were recently updated and each has a bathtub / shower. They each have a shampoo, conditioner & bath gel dispenser mounted in the shower. The kitchen has a full refrigerator, coffee pot, kettle for tea, dishes, glasses, & silverware. It has a full oven / stove, microwave, toaster and even a dishwasher. There was a long bar and comfortable barstools for eating. We stayed on the third floor which was really nice because the ceilings were vaulted and it felt very spacious. (Please note that you get winded making the trek up to the third floor especially if you aren't used to the high altitude here) There were great ceiling fans in both rooms which really help in the hot summer (there is no a/c but we were here at the end of August and were comfortable the whole time). There are gas fireplaces (can't burn wood) in both the living room and bedroom. There was also a TV in both rooms and each had a DVD player and direct TV. (The direct TV had very limited channel selection but they have huge DVD library at the office that rivals Blockbuster!) The sofa in the living room was not that comfy because the back is basically straight up and down and it was challenging to find a comfortable sitting position over time. The bed was comfortable but a few of the pillows were lumpy and not comfortable. There were plenty of lamps & lighting in both rooms so you could have as much or as little light as you want. The bedroom also had a closet with plenty of hangers and there was also a nice dresser with lots of space. Snow Lake lodge has taken the time for so many details that gives this property an extra push towards that 5fh star! (Another subtle thing that most wouldn't notice in summer is the grooves on the stairs that really help when it's snowy & icy) All-in-all this was a wonderful place to stay that had just about every amenity you could hope for! I just wish that they had a nice outdoor area where you could sit and soak in the mountain air and serenity. I definitely recommend this place in summer or winter and we would definitely stay here again! read more

Nice place to stay if you got kids. Big and roomy, we had a one bed suite with a kitchen and two bathrooms. They are outdated but still in good shape and very clean. In the middle of Big Bear, close to the village for touring and close to market. Better than a cabin and hotel room. Only down fall is there is no air-conditioner. It is obvious that Big Bear is known for winter recreation but these days there are biking and boating and other summer activities. So, having an air-conditioner would make it better. The little swimming pool was nice, as the kids were able to cool off in the water. Will have to try coming back in the winter. read more

The friendly staff make your visit smooth & easy. They are always ready to help. I had recently had knee surgery & they went out of their way to get us more freezer ice trays, so we could make ice for my knee. I had the flu while here & needed some extra cleaning supplies which they kindly provided. The unit was tastefully decorated & the kitchen was adequately fitted out. The Snow Lake Lodge is a quaint place to stay in Big Bear. The reservation process was easy and quick. Check-in was simple, fast, and the employees beyond friendly. The room was a nice surprise as it had two fireplaces (on in the bedroom & one in the living room area. Fully stocked kitchen was clean and neat. Location is optimal as it is right off hwy 18, on Big Bear Blvd in the middle of town. I highly recommend the SLL and will definitely be staying here again. read more

Just stayed here and the room felt like a small apartment. Clean and comfortable. The room we had was one queen and a pull out couch. After a whole day of activities we get back to the hotel and start to set up the pull out bed and there were no sheets. I go up to the office to request sheets and the office is closed with ZERO SERVICE from 8 pm until 9 am. So we had to split bedding between the two beds. I personally feel that a set of sheets should be in a room claiming to sleep 4. It was very inconvenient and disappointing. Can't give a good grade on this establishment read more

Started off great, and ended terribly... My fiance and I are coming in from a few hours away to get away for my birthday. Front desk had called in the afternoon asking our eta which was 6:30. Super nice on the phone providing details just in case we showed up after the office was closed. We got in on Tuesday evening at 6:40pm. Received our key cards and headed to the room to drop off our bags. We then walked across the street to get snacks and drinks for the trip. Upon our return, around 7:15 the fire alarm was going off with no management on site and everyone standing outside waiting for the piercing sound to end because there was no fire. Okay so it was a false alarm, great right?! Came into our room, fairly clean, but probably didn't vacuum or clean the cabinets? We found half a bag of tortilla chips and some hard Albertsons cookies and threw those away. Next night, Wednesday... it's 3am, quiet and we once again wake up to the fire alarm going off with no management in site. About 20-30 minutes later, the fire department shows up once again and is able to turn it off. This place is cute and a great idea but they definitely need better safe guards regarding the fire alarms and having no management on site! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and I won't be coming back either. Update: 5am and fire alarm goes off for another 20 minutes. We left at 5:20am after getting 40 minutes of sleep for the night. read more

This was a 5 star experience in many ways, including the fact that we had an entire suite with a kitchen and dining table, 2 bathrooms and a nice entry area. The hot tub was wonderful as well. Location was good, not walkable to downtown but close enough. I was meeting family there, so I was not happy that they would only let us park one car there. There was an option to park the other car next to a pitch dark alley on the dirt. I wasn't too keen on that especially because it was 10 at night and there were almost 15 open parking spots in the lot. They did let me move the 2nd car ehrn I pointed that out. Also the TV didn't work at all. It was disconnected. So if you like yo watch TV you might not like that. Otherwise it was really a good deal! read more

Been coming here since I was a child with my family now I come here with my children, it's great for a family because it has a separate bedroom and a separate living area with a full kitchen. Swimming pool and Jacuzzi along with the pool table in the game room are also a positive. Love this place. read more

The room was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. The master bedroom was spacious. The kitchen living room was perfect for the kids as it had a pull out couch and tv. There were 2 bathrooms. Also since we were on the top floor high ceilings. The room was decorated from the late 70s/80s. It was cool without trying to be cool. Deer figurines... fireplace... An equipped kitchen. This place is so nice and cozy. The suites have everything you could need. We barbecued, filled our refrigerator with drinks and food. They had the dishes, plates and flatware. Coffee machine, toaster, microwave. The staff is all super friendly. The maintenance guy helped me ensure the BBQ was ready to go when I grilled up some chicken and burgers. We will definitely recommend this establishment to our family and friends. Moreover, we will be returning for another visit in the future. read more

Cute townhomes not bad for a weekend get away, and the Ski Summit is so close by like walking distance well if you like walking like me. This place is so close to the Oktoberfest fest location. It's close to the Sheriff's Station too but nothing happens in Big Bear Lake (my opinion). It's such a quiet & tranquil town full of small businesses and cafés, I like to buy from them because they are so dedicated to what they craft, bake, cook or brew! The Village is walking distance too, or drive up there & park in their Free Public Parking Yay! If you miss your Tacos find "Muchachos Grill & Bar! Okay back to the rental; it has everything you need, including a full kitchen, it's an older building but it's well kept and everything was in perfect working condition & has spacious parking spots but only allows you one car. No Problema!! there's plenty of public parking spots in the back. read more

Stayed August 1 to 3rd. Plenty of parking, don't forget to put your parking pass on your dash. Not sure what the penalty would be without it but why tempt fate. The office employees were very nice, answered all my questions before and during our stay. There is limited housekeeping, they do not enter your room. You get a laundry basket to put used linens outside your door no later than 10:30 am to receive clean replacements. Easy check in and out. Warning, the pool/jacuzzi is an extra key that is $45 if you misplace it. The rooms are great, just like other reviews, has 2 full restrooms, a large livingroom with attached fully stocked kitchen and the room was large. Plenty of windows but no air conditioning. The rooms have fans to stay cool. There is a laundry room but it's only open 4:30pm to 8am. $1.50 for a wash and $1.00 for dry. Overall, the room was clean, staff was nice, car was safe, and close to all activities on Big Bear Blvd. Definitely recommend. read more

No idea why this place doesn't have a higher star rating. The rooms are awesome. Private master bedroom with full en suite bathroom, and full bathroom for the living room / kitchen area. yup! Full kitchen! And a pull out sofa in the living room (great for our two little kids) - DVD players in both rooms, cable TV, and a smart TV. The lobby has a book full of DVDs you can borrow and watch in your room which for me is nostalgic because I miss going to Blockbuster Video! Pool table in the lobby, AND an out door jacuzzi. 3 minute drive to to Snow Summit. 5 minute drive into the village. EVELYN, at the front desk was the sweetest woman ever. A bit outdated and no AC, but the rooms are nice and comfortable. Place seems pretty clean and is easy to settle into. Onsite staff is awesome. My only issue is trying to get a refund for days not spent there. I have conferenced in the admin staff and booking.com and after the resort confirmed cancellation and that I should get a refund, they still have not done a thing. Now there seems to be no record of any of this from Snow Lake Lodges side. I have spent hours trying to resolve this, I give up. Keep my three days, I spend 3-4 days a month in Big Bear and thought I found a good, cheap, clean place. I won't be going back. read more

We had a wonderful stay here and didn't have any problems besides the check in process. We arrived just after 11 PM on a Friday evening and didn't realize that the front desk closed at 11! I have never stayed at a hotel that didn't have a 24 hour front desk! After freaking out for a minute that we were going to be homeless in the 30 degree cold, we saw a sign for late arrivals with an address and went looking for it, which ended up being a security company. They were busy and didn't let us in for about 10 min so we stood in the cold, but after that we were able to check in and get our keys (they still use real keys too!), and rushed back to the hotel to warm up. The property is designed/decorated like a rustic lodge and the rooms are huge! I'd have to say these rooms are bigger than the 1 bedroom apartment I used to have! Each room is actually 2 separate rooms, with 1 being the master bedroom w/ a bathroom and the other being a living room w/ pull out couch bed, full kitchen, and another bathroom! Both rooms have ceiling fans, TVs, DVD players, thermastats/heaters and fireplaces. The king sized bed was comfy and we ended up spending a lot of time in our rooms because of it. It was almost like a home away from home! The bathrooms were large and clean (and also carpeted-old skool!), and plenty of toiletries were provided (about 4-5 bars of soap and a few bottles of lotion and shampoo) so we never need housekeeping during our stay. They also have free DVD rentals at the front desk and there is an activity scheduled daily. The activities scheduled on the days we stayed were: continental breakfast (donuts, juice, and fruit), bingo (didn't go to this one), and hot chocolate and cookies (freshly baked and delicious!). Parking is easy and there are no assigned spots, although they limit parking to 1 vehicle per room. They have open air parking spaces, as well as carport spaces up front by the office. There is also an outdoor pool and hot tub, although it was too cold to go when we were there. The location of the property was great too since it was pretty much in the middle of everything and we didn't have to drive more than 5 min to go anywhere we wanted to go. I have to start by saying we love this place however tonite I'm a little upset. we have had hot water the first two days the hot water was amazing, tonite about 830 there's ZERO hot water. I tried every sink/faucet , nothing. so we contacted the front desk and they said there's a leak somewhere and some units don't have hot water and we are trying to figure out which units. we won't have hot water until tomorrow!!!! just a quick sorry , that was it. I get it really what else can be said but you would think if they thought any units close to the leak should know there's ZERO hot water. it is illegal to not have running water but only freezing cold running water is so terrible! just respect to do a simple call. maybe no care as they are booked and if someone leaves it doesn't matter. This place is so cute! As long as you don't mind stairs since there are no elevators, the room is fantastic! Great layout with a huge master, 2 fireplaces, 2 bathrooms, stocked kitchen. The pull out couch bed is comfy. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most of the Parking is covered which is great when it's snowing or raining. We liked it so much, we booked again for another trip. It is better than many other locations or cabins in that it is spacious and provides a lot of free entertainment like movies and games to rent and a nice lobby. Our keys didnt work twice on the third floor so we had to walk down to get help -and I read that is an ongoing issue. thankfully they were open when it happened to us both times!!! Or we would have been stuck in the car for a night. The bathrooms had a strong mold smell and one tub would clog when the shower was used, and the carpet is super old and stained so bring slippers-but other than that, it was a nice roomy stay. The toilets are seated really high up so for us very short people it was hard to use. Many of the knives are not sharp at all. The bed was very comfortable and warm though, and The office staff were all really friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The rooms were always very warm and everything functioned fine. Just returned today from staying two nights here. I must say, I was a bit skeptical about the stay solely based on reviews and the mid week price. This place is Awesome It is very, very clean. Spacious with all the amenities of home. Fully stocked with kitchen essentials, blankets, towels, toiletries etc. centrally located. Close to the Village and very close to Snow Summit. Staff was very nice. They called after our first night to see if we needed anything. I appreciate that. I really appreciate how clean the rooms are!!! I am solely reviewing this as a time share but still no different that a hotel review:) We were there Labor Day weekend. Parking wasn't too bad. I understand they only have one car port per unit. The units are dated but clean. I called ahead to let them know I was 7 months pregnant and if we could get a first floor unit. They couldn't but they got me what I deemed a handicap unit but it was on the second floor near the front (202) and the distance/stairs were fine with us (with a Toddler). It was nice having access to a full kitchen and dishes traveling with a family. Plus having two bathrooms was a big plus. Each day they had something for guests. Very simple. On Saturday they had a very simple continental that consisted of bagels (store bought), donuts, fruit and oatmeal packets. Nothing you would fill up on but we used it as a morning snack. I enjoyed the donuts and coffee. Cons: WIFI was very limited (but free). Noisy street (we did not mind..we travel with a sound machine with our toddler). No kids on pool that are not potty trained (we followed the rules and did not use it) and replacement keys are 20 dollars each (we almost lost them multiple times..but didn't). Rooms are dated but clean. No air conditioning but fans worked well. It wasn't too hot when we went but if that is a deal breaker, look elsewhere. Pros: Great space...two bathrooms. Small area to BBQ with a park bench and table. Restaurants within walking distance. Free coffee each day. Staff was nice. Ground were clean. It was great to have a kitchen at our finger tips to cook and prepare stuff. read more

Big bear lake has always been a favorite vacation location for me. That said, I had not been in 20 years. I had the opportunity to reacquaint myself with this spot on a house hunting trip last weekend. I stayed at the Snow Lake Lodge because of its location to the village and lake. Don't be fooled by the pictures. The place is rundown and needing a facelift. The pool/spa is located close the the road and parking lot. The staff was cordial and helpful. I had an issue with the reservation I had booked on line. They resolved that issue without it being a pain. The rooms are fine, and decor was mountain rustic as you would expect. Again, in need of some work and TLC. The wall heaters didn't work, but the fireplaces did and were a nice substitute. The ceiling fans in the bathrooms absolutely make you think you are in a jet waiting for take off. Would I come back to this place? No, probably not at the price I paid, unless it was under $100 a night. read more
