Called to change my account. 263 dollars a month for a silver package is just too much. I talked to a rep who called himself Manuel. I state it like that because he was using a fake accent. Currently pricing for loyal customers... the cheapest tv/phone/internet plan available is 213 a month plus tax and service fees equaling 237 dollars a month. When I called to ask them if there were some way to mitigate this raise, since I'm a senior on a fixed income and have been with them for a very long time, the customer rep told me that if I can't afford it, cut out part of the service, because otherwise I'd have to keep coming back and asking them to bail me out over and over again. Then she suggested that I find a provider who would charge me less because Cablevision wasn't going to! How this person is allowed to speak to customers is beyond me!! Shame on you, Cablevision! i think this is one of the worst companies out there. we recently sold our condo in deer park after 10 years and needed to cancel/return our equipment for credit to end service. i was greeted at the door of the Hicksville location and told the girl what i wanted to do. she replied do you need cell phone?? heres where it goes down hill fast. upon going to window 7 the male worker scanned both my boxes and both remotes to end service. i was told since i was 4 days over my billing cycle you will need to pay for the ADDITIONAL MONTH. every other company in the world pro rates fees when cancelling service. not Cablevison. so, i am supposed to live with the new people to use the service for another month. are you kidding. after 10 years with them i would rather watch vhs tapes then to use or promote your business. and they have the gall to even try to charge me for the router i returned 2years prior and bought my own to save the $10 a month they charge. he checked again and low and behold it was returned 2 years ago. read more

This is the WORST company in terms of product and customer service. Their prices are high, their service is horrible, their customer service is incredible rude and difficult to deal with. They scheduled appointments and just missed them (without any explanation or apology). Every time I had to call, it was a minimum of one hour (literally) and only got abused once I got someone on the phone. They just don't care that they are treating customers like crap. I ended up disconnecting because I was paying the same for internet only that I had typically paid for a triple play elsewhere. And the service sucked! They kept saying that I had TV with the package, but I didn't. I'm sure they just wanted to report me as a double play so their numbers looked better. A month after I disconnected, they gave me an offer paying less than I was before but was a triple play. They come to install (a week later) and the installer tells me in five minutes (after I already had to take the day off from work to be there) he cannot do the install. The signal at my house is not good enough...but that is what I was paying for years! They had to drop a new line and they would get to it in about a week. One week later, installer never shows up. After more multiple calls (each at least an hour) they set up another appointment. They don't show up again, so I finally get a supervisor through the retention department. I take ANOTHER day off work and they tell me in the morning that they don't know what I am talking about and it was unlikely that someone could make it out to my house the same day (where they asked me to be at the house the day before). After more yelling and screaming, someone finally shows up at the house. The installer was nice enough but has the nerve to say "no wonder no one wanted to come out here in this job, that was really difficult!" The video service they included in the video package was the same as if I simply put up an HD antennae. When I complained, they said that they could add the typical cable services for a 50% increase in the package price. So, I still have to stream my video from a virtual TV provider. Then, one week later, they tell me my account is past due. THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE TIME THAT I WAS DISCONNECTED. I thought, no big deal, I'll just point it out to them. NOPE! They are trying to stand behind it and tell me I have to pay. This company is THE WORST!! If you have ANY choice, go elsewhere. read more

Cablvision sucks!!! Wish I could give it no stars. Tech came out to fix problem today, said it was fixed and just happened again. Tech support is useless and all they do is keep you on hold. I have had the same problem with the cable boxes for 4 days and they are nice enough to give me a $10 credit. Out of the 3 cable boxes I have only one works and it is stuck on channel 38. I had to click a star. This company is a total disgrace. I, unfortunately, was hacked and had a whole bunch of issues afterwards. I had big problems getting my emails. I called Optimum and was told my problem needed to be "kicked up." They gave me a "ticket number" and told me I would receive a call back. No one called back. Three days later I called again. This time the guy on the phone sounded like he was fast asleep in some other continent. I told him I could not understand him and he purposely started to talk more jibberish. The background noise seemed to be turned up when I was asking him questions that confused him. He, too, after 15 minutes told me he had to "kick my problem up," and gave me a "ticket number." It's soooooo insulting when they keep saying, "I'm so sorry." It's as if they think you're braindead and that's going to make it all better! Well, that was four days ago. Think of the money we send these idiots every month for this disgusting service. It hurts. It's almost as if they feel they have this monopolistic control and they are going to FFF with you! Sad! Let's all get together and find a solution to this problem. They have nonexistent customer service and they laugh all the way to the bank. In march of 2010 i wanted to cancel the phone service one of the triple play services. I was forwarded to the cancellation department where the rep told me instead of cancelling my phone they will give me a discounted promotional rate of $139/month. During the conversation the rep never told me that the offer will end or the date it will expire. He made me believe that as long as i have the triple play package $139 would be my permanent price. When i looked at my invoice today cablevision increased my price without me knowing, and in the month of march they charged my account instead of $139 regular price, they charged $256. And added additional $15 per month afterwards. When i called the cablevision company they told me that the rep is not obligated to tell me the terms and conditions of the promotion and since im doing autopay they are not responsible to notify me of any increases in my price of service but rather i have to login to my e-account to look for changes myself. This is a ridicules claim for a company such as cablevision. They should be ashamed of their practices. read more

The internet and phone service is great and reliable. But they are constantly raising prices, even when you've signed up for their triple play. And they add channels that are of no use to me, including those in various languages that I don't speak. Fortunately, they no longer have a monopoly on the business, so you can always switch, or threaten to. read more

This company continues to disappoint me, year after year. The latest incident is no internet. Told by the support rep that I needed to replace my modem. Rushed down to the Cablevision store got a new modem; it didn't work either. Called support who told me "I don't know why the last support guy told you tho swap out your modem." Now I have to take off from work to be here when the cable guy comes to my house...even though all of my in-house equipment is ok. I know...because I've been doing IT for 25-years. Asked to speak with a supervisor but was told they were all busy and they would call me back. Four hours later, no call back. I guess they're still busy. I guess they're busy because they have so many problems. If you have cablevision alternatives, choose them. read more

Agree with reviewers Quintus, Tom and Wal. Long Island deserves much better than this! Mismanagement and nonexistent communication from corporate to customer support rank and file are part of the problem. Also, totally absurd that when you call support for internet service problem, for example, you have to go through their entire automated troubleshooting labyrinth (even if you've done all the steps) and the issue is on their end, not with your equipment/pc, configuration, etc. Additionally, there have been far too many service interruptions in my area--4 for the month of August, all during peak business hours. No explanation provided when you call. I was told a field supervisor would call back to explain why they scheduled maintenance during business hours when everyone in my service area/node would be negatively affected. No one called and when I called back the next day, I was given some scripted BS non-answer. Clearly this company does not appreciate or respect its customers. Hope a new, more efficient, cost effective ISP moves to Long Island and knocks Cablevision offline permanently. read more
