I hate cheap bastards.. or the feel I am around that kind of BS. My understanding is one scoop of protein and one scoop of everything else goes on the taco. Their chicken, white rice, lettuce, corn and all are all very fresh tasting... it's Cabo "Fresh" - makes sense! You will enjoy the great ambiance with their upgraded tables, chairs, and booths at this location. It is close to the Smith Haven Mall, which a main attraction in the area. The ambiance inside the store is pleasant and there are plenty of seating options. The service was normal. The food at Cabo "Fresh" was indeed fresh and pretty flavorful. However, in dishes such as the chicken burrito, the chicken was not warm. Besides that, Cabo Fresh offered a pleasant experience. My favorite spot to have lunch after the movies. What makes this place great, everything is fresh! It's an assembly line setup. You can pick and choose what you want, I like to order a spicy bowl with a bed of spinach, grilled shrimp and mango. Go Cabo! It's a big serving, being a little expensive is the only minus. I used to come here once a week with my friend after class every week and I haven't been here in forever but I'm happy to see that it's still as good as I remember they since added fish and shrimp to the menu so you can get all the menu items you usually get with seafood which is nice. This is my absolute favorite place for "fast food" mexican!! If you think you like Chipotle or Moe's try this place and you won't turn back. I have tried their quesadillas, burritos, churros, shrimp, steak, guacamole, and I love it all! The set up is just like a Chipotle, all the customization options help make your meal perfect. But, this place has way more options that Chipotle. The ingredients are SO fresh you can taste the difference. The first time I tried this place I was hooked. Eveyrthing just tasted so fresh and with the mix of vegetables, meat, salsas, cheese and more in my burrito it was heavenly. What I find great about this place was the choices, right off the bat you can choose a flour or wheat tortilla for your burrito or quesadilla. Brow or white rice, multiple beans to pick from, ect. They also have vegetarian options such as tofu, shrimp and salmon. Personally I love to order quesadillas with rice inside, and they had no problem doing so for me! The cheese was melted perfectly. What I absolutely love is their variety of hot sauces and the LARGE bottles they have. Cholula sauce is my favorite and they have multiple bottles along with Tabasco sauce, and many more and their different flavors. This place is filled with helpful workers who are happy to serve you. I really wanna love Cabo but I just can't. I don't know why but I can't. I guess I just really love Chipotle when it comes to Mexican fast food places other than Taco Bell. We ordered two shrimp quesadillas. Not bad but not super exciting either. A little too much cheese for our arteries. Shrimp was nice since Chipotle doesn't offer that option. Also got a side of guacamole. Not bad but OK. I make better guac at home if you ask me. If you're out and want Mexican from some place fast goto Chipotle. The party in my mouth came from the house made Pico de Gallo. Something so beyond simple it was perfect. Fresh tomatoes and cilantro ugh so GOOD! That alone I'd like to take home and just eat with some chips and have a margarita or two on the rocks, hold the salt please. Another winner was the huge (ok maybe not ginormous but rather large) bottle of Cholula (see pic). In case you didn't know Cholula is my favorite hot sauce thus far. Also I'd like to mention I did have their burrito bowl back I'd say 4 months ago? Again I'm truly sorry that hands down AGAIN Chipotle FTW! Not Cabo. Chicken is not like Chipotle. Cabo does not get a good enough sear on their chicken like Chipotle. Overall I'm giving Cabo a 3. It's a reasonable place to eat before the movies or after shopping at Marshall's Homegoods or the mall if you're not in the mood for great Italian food at O Sole Mio. I LOVE cabo fresh. It's chipotle/moe's-styled in that you go down the "assembly line" type counter and pick exactly what you want. The ingredients are always really good and really fresh. The workers are extremely organized, friendly, and always working with urgency. I normally get a burrito bowl but I have had the nachos and the tacos and they're all excellent. The nachos are filling and not too overwhelming - they give the perfect amount of toppings!! The tacos are great in that they're big enough to fill the average person and if you have leftovers, they still taste really good when you finish them later. I also always get a strawberry mango smoothie when I'm there - its better than jamba juice in my opinion (and I love jamba juice). Anyone that left a bad review about this place probably just went on a bad day with some unforeseen circumstances. read more

I just finished lunch here for the first time and it was very good! After reading and hearing so many positive reviews, I decided to finally try it. I got a chicken salad. I was able to get spinach instead of the typical romaine that most places offer. The chicken is very tasty and not dry at all. My boyfriend got the pork salad. I tried some of it and was so good! Guacamole was $2.10 extra...it is a little more than most places, but the guacamole is so good! It is worth it. I would come back! So much better than chipotle! read more

I am not exaggerating when I tell you this is the first negative review I've left in my ENTIRE life. Left plenty of positives but don't believe in unnecessary negativity. So this is a first. Having spent the past month studying for the bar exam, I decided to take the day off for my birthday to go the movies with my family. Though there are plenty of movie theaters closer (some even nicer), I drove over 30 minutes to Stony Brook so that I could get Cabo before it. I come here whenever I am in the area and genuinely enjoy the food. It's expensive (they charge extra for tortillas if you get a bowl, queso, etc.) but I usually have no problem paying for it, especially when they are a mom and pop shop. When it came time to put the meat in the bowl this time around, I am not speaking in hyperbole when they put precisely 1 fork full of pork in it. The employee preparing the bowl grabbed the tongs almost as if he was preparing to remove a splinter, not serving food. After having agreed to pay extra for two other things already, when I asked if they were putting more pork, the gentleman said it would be an extra $2.50. Asking to speak to a manager, a gentleman who witnessed the whole thing unfold came over. After voicing my frustration and explaining that I've been here plenty of times and drive 30 minutes out of the way to come here, he yesed me to death, with no offer to remedy the situation. I was not looking for any freebie and truly would have not even accepted one, I just wanted what I paid for. I then left without any food extremely upset that I just drove all the way to Stony Brook for no reason. Walking out of the place while leaving the food right at the register is another first for me, but this was so egregious that it caused me (a man with over 8 years restaurant experience both private and corporate) to do something I would often criticize others for doing so. I am embarrassed that not only have I recommended this place to others but that I suggested it was worth driving out of the way for. Now with egg on my face, I attempt to correct my error of recommendation, and advise people DO NOT EAT HERE unless you don't mind paying significantly more than a chipotle or moe's for a bowl of rice with management and employees who are there only to collect a paycheck. read more

They have five booths, 11 tall chairs with tables ,and seven small tables ,and let me not forget they have baby seats and outdoor seating,so there's plenty of seating. My experience here is very pleasant and I will be back here it's in the same mall as the AMC theater the red lobster ,marshals and a few other places, like Strathmore bagels. Cabo fresh by far lives up to their name! Their food is always extremely fresh and packed with flavor. I always get a rice bowl with spinach on the bottom, no beans, and lots of guac (which costs extra, but absolutely worth it). The staff is very friendly and does a great job with assembling the food and making it how you would want. I like to come her often with another person because I always have a coupon where you can buy one entrée and get one free with the purchase of two large drinks, its a great deal! Cabo Fresh is my go to spot whenever I'm craving Mexican food! I always order the same thing which is a baja bowl with shrimp and I get [rice, cheese, lettuce, pico, mango salsa, corn salsa, cabo salsa and habanero salsa] LOL I really love salsas also I get guacamole on the side and occasionally chips. All the flavors are so crisp especially the grilled shrimp since usually they grill it when you order it so it's sizzling fresh!! 3 stars ONLY for service! 0 stars for mediocre food! Food is usually ok, though bland for "Tex-mex". Service is always great, everyone's smiling and they work rather quickly! Prices are standard compared to their competitors. My Big Gripe, however, is that they have no right to call their chicken "spicy"... slathering it in hot sauce is chicken with hot sauce which tastes so watered down by the absolute (and presumably unsalted) blandness of the chicken which wouldn't even be bad if anything else had even a minor flavoring. The guacamole is extra, and I'm guessing this is where they make money charging more than a dollar for 2 heaping table spoons of it; it tastes fine but it's just mashed avocado with onions(guacamole without chunks? Why?). The salsa had no spice either which is mind boggling, whose palate is this for? A new born babies I'd guess!). I have a sensitive palate, I love flavor especially in my Mexican food, doubley for chicken quesadillas and the only flavor I got was from the self-serve soda machine! Not going to lie, I'd go back because even the unhealthy options are so bland I doubt you'd be in a single health crisis from eating here. Not to throw in over-kill, but as a Tex-Mex spot, they neither represent Mexico, nor Texas in their food, it tastes more like I'm eating at the geriatric ward for people with IBS. read more
