The "bouncer" who was just a clueless old man, checked my ID at the door and proceeded to look at it closely for a very VERY long time with a black light. He then tried telling me that my ID was fake. I am well above 21 years old and this has never happened to me before. Came Here on a Friday night and it was packed. We had a large group of 12 people but they seated us quickly and the service was great. Nice Mexican food as the nachos, burritos, and burgers were good. The frozen margaritas were strong and they are highly recommended. Nick made our first of 3 rounds after we waited for about 10 minutes...his margarita was completely off balance. We went back a second time and got ignored again by both Nick and Monica. This is one of my favorite restaurants in RVC, it's American styled Mexican food. I personally love their steak tacos (the cook doesn't always get medium right but the seasonings normally good) and the enchilada cremosas. Their drinks are good and the appetizers are ok also. I normally do takeout and they include chips and salsa to the order. Last summer, I tried their Sunday brunch. The food selection is a bit boring so I only took advantage of the $15 bottomless drinks and ordered off the regular menu. Came here for dinner on a Friday night because it was 100 degrees and a frozen margarita sounded amazing! I have been here numerous times however, on this night, there were 2 stocky men standing in front of the hostess stand. I thought they were just middle aged perverts checking out girls but apparently they were bouncers. The one who stood closest to me grunted out "ID" to me and I had to dig into my bag & wallet to retrieve it. I clearly look over 21, but the way he was examining my ID was over the top! He put it up against the light, he shook it, he put it on top of his flashlight, shook it again, and then asked his buddy to examine it with his flashlight. TSA from JFK (which recruits the rudest people in America to work as agents) has never put on such a production when checking my ID. After all this, they were still not convinced and held up my ID to my face and looked at my ID and me and my ID and me and finally reluctantly let me in. You'd think I was ugly and this was some exclusive club or something but I looked around, I was the flyest one up in there (JK, but not really). After this ordeal, I reach the hostess stand and asked for a table for 3. She smiled at me and walked away. She returned a few minutes later and started to play with her phone and then walked away again. An older man wearing a flashy shirt then came and asked if I was being helped. I told him table for 3 and he told the hostess in Spanish to bring us to a table. Their have the basic American Mexican restaurant entrees but their margarita selection is what sets them apart. After all the hassle of getting a table, I ordered the largest margarita they had which came with a tiny Prosecco bottle. We ordered the tableside guacamole (I didn't see the yelp checkin offer) and it took forever. I guess the people preparing it think everyone is getting the free one so they wait until there is a few ordered so they can make it at once. It tastes horrible! So bland! I had to douse it in hot sauce. The margaritas are pretty good and the presentation is on point! I ordered a Swedish fish margarita after and that one was good too. They have a section outdoors in the back but you must be 23 and older to be out there (I didn't wanna go thru an interrogation again so I stayed inside). On the other side of the restaurant there was a DJ playing music and you can dance. I'm not sure if that was a private event or for all guests but no one asked me to leave. Funny thing, when I was outside (bc my friends were smoking) this girl came and then left. She was yelling on her phone saying they wouldn't let her in bc of her age and how it's discrimination. The same stone faced bulldog bouncer then came out, and get this, was consoling her in an apologetic way! And this girl was asking him if this was legal and how he's discriminating her based on her age.
